- {{Expy:}} Of Clayface. Its true form Or rather, her true form brings to mind monster girls from Monster Girl Encyclopedia and Sondra Lady Clay Fuller, aka "Lady Clayface".
- After her initial appearance, she has learned to master her powers, bringing her more in line with Secco from Golden Wind.
- {{Foil:}} To Rorschette. Both are mutated women with blob monsters who get injected with power boosters that cause them to go berserk. However, Grimes' powers are utilitarian, with versatile applications (such as liquefying the earth, or reinforcing concrete foundations) and lower developmental potential, and Rorschette having specialized transformations (turning into diamonds, graphene, carbon fiber, etc.). In exchange, Grimes is more durable than Rorschette - prolonged exposure to environmental conditions won't kill her, unlike Rorschette.
- Additionally, while Rorschette is concerned about her looks, Grimes is concerned about her actions, which drive their motivations and insecurities. Rorschette therefore makes herself look the most beautiful, with simulated makeup and blemish-free skin, while Grimes just makes herself look marginally beautiful, leaving behind some cracks on her earthy skin, or uneven, runny mud textures.
- Samus Is a Girl: The manly-looking monster is revealed to be a fairly attractive clay woman who lost control of her body.
