- The Emperor: Invictus goes by this title.
- Fantasy Counterpart Culture: The Legion is heavily based on the Roman Empire, both in military organization and political philosophy.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Invictus believes that conquering and uniting everyone under his rule is the best chance of stopping the Progenitors, and his narrations on the faction's background describe having the misfortune of actually meeting one.
The Foundation
Headed by Inquisitor Nemicus, a Raptor-type Commander.

- Robot Religion/Thank the Maker: They worship a machine-god they call the Founder, who they believe created the Commanders in order to fight the Progenitors.

- Kill All Organics
- Omnicidal Maniac: They veer uncomfortably close to this. It's not just animals and sentients that are targeted; not even the local flora is safe.
- Utopia Justifies the Means: They believe that wiping out all organic life will pave the way for a utopia for machines.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Even compared to the other factions, they believe any organic life could lead more beings like the Progenitors.
The Revenants
Headed by Osiris, a Quad-type Commander.

- Reforged into a Minion: Their policy for dealing with enemy Commanders seems to involve capturing them intact and rebuilding them into a new form - reprogramming the Commander to be loyal to the Revenants.
- The Undead: Their name evokes this. It's only further evoked by at least a few Revenant Commanders having once belonged to other factions, before being 'perfected'.
The Progenitors
A mysterious organic race somehow related to the Commanders and Time Designation Zero. While interpretations vary, everyone agrees that the Progenitors and Commanders were bitter enemies at one point.
- Arch-Enemy/Abusive Precursors: The one thing that every faction can agree on is that the Progenitors were not their friends.
- Eldritch Abomination: Invictus' description makes them out to be this.
- Precursors: Whatever they were, they aren't around by the time the Commanders awaken.
- Slave Race: The Foundation's theory is that the Progenitors were slaves rebelling against the Founder, and that Time Designation Zero was when the Commanders were sent to subdue them.
