The people who reside in the lumber town of Otari.
Oseph Menhemes
Oseph Menhemes
- Ancestry: HumanAlignment: True Neutral
- Family Man: Is known to be one to his wife and his many children.
- Famous Ancestor: Locally, at least. It shouldn't take long for one to figure out he's the descendant of Aesephna Menhemes, a member of the Roseguard.
- Honest Corporate Executive: Despite owning the Otari Mill, he lets the other lumber companies in the town use the mill as well.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: He will reward the heroes for investigating how the Gauntlight had threatened the town. Also, he will give the heroes his family heirloom once he realized that would help them on their quest, as long as they're in his good graces.

- Ancestry: HumanAlignment: Chaotic Neutral
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Anyone in the garrison will know that he's strict, short-tempered, foul-mouthed, and his tirades are legendary. He will even issue short jail sentences over minor infractions.
- Police Are Useless: Played With. He turns a blind eye to the thefts by the Ospery Club because they normally do not threaten the locals' safety.
- The Sheriff: As the captain of the Otari Garrison, he the closest to this trope in the town.

- Ancestry: HalflingAlignment: Neutral Good
- Berserk Button: Thievery, for her sister once stole several valuable books from the library and fled not long ago.
Yinyasmera

- Ancestry: HumanAlignment: Chaotic Neutral
- Everyone Has Standards: Despite running her whole business on smuggling and theivery, even she got tired of Carman's antics, and will not hesitate to get rid of him.
- Honor Among Thieves: She's loyal to the town and rarely permits her thieves to target locals, so they usually con or rob outsiders.
- The Queenpin: It goes without saying when she's the head of a thieves' guild. She even has enough influence to rival Oseph, though she never runs for mayor.

- Ancestry: HumanAlignment: Lawful Neutral
- Bookworm: Really loves books. He will pay heavy for the books the heroes have gathered from the Gauntlight.
- Happily Married: To his husband Carlthe.
- MacGuffin Guardian: Downplayed, but he keeps an artifact from Zarmavdian, a member of the Roseguard, and he will not sell it. Though the most it would take is a lot of convincing before he let the heroes borrow the book.

- Ancestry: Elf (tiefling heritage)Alignment: Chaotic Good
- Astrologer: Pretty much one. She can read the future by studying the night sky.
- Claustrophobia: She sees menace in angles and danger in confined spaces, to the point that it debilitates her mechanically. It also explains why she didn't investigate the Gauntlight herself.
- Cloudcuckoolander: If she isn't the weirdest person in the town ever.
- Fortune Teller: She can predict how well the future could go by reading the stars.
- Quest Giver: She's the one who led the heroes into investigating the Gauntlight in the first place.
Carman Rajani
Carman Rajani
- Ancestry: HumanAlignment: Neutral Evil
- The Alcoholic: He spent a lot on fine whisky and drinks a lot.
- Entitled Bastard: He thinks he is entitled to better treatment from the townspeople than his surly demeanor earns him. That's not even going into why he ran for mayor, or why he stole the Cooperative Blade.
- Famous Ancestor: His ancestor is Vol Rajani, one of the members of the Roseguard. He is the sole descendant of the Rajanis known to be left alive.
- Freudian Excuse: All his actions, from his alcoholism and gambling addiction, to his attempt to run for mayor and his theft of the sword in the library, were driven by the death of his parents and his desire to get his family heirloom back.
- The Gambling Addict: Ended up in debt because of it.
- Green-Eyed Monster: To Oseph. He tried to run for mayor four times and lost each one to him, even though he didn't have a lot to back himself up. In addition, the sword of his family was kept in the Dawnflower Library, which was owned by Oseph at the time, but he couldn't buy the sword back, which makes him believe that the sword has some good luck charm that blesses whoever owns it.
- Hero-Worshipper: To Vol, his ancestor.
- MacGuffin Guardian: Since he stole his family's sword, the heroes will have to fight him if they want to retrieve it for their quest.
