Eddie McDowd
Played By: Jason Dohring (Human form; adult), Josh Allan (Human form; young), Rowdy (Dog form)
Voiced By: Seth Green (Season 1), Jason Hervey (Season 2)
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: He's a live-action talking dog wearing a bandana and a studded leather cuff.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Comes from being turned into a dog.
- Book Dumb: He's not the smartest dog in the pound, fitting with his nature as a stereotypical 90's bully.
- The Bully: Which ended up biting him in the ass big time and causing the events of the show.
- Cosmic Plaything: he certainly thinks so, and he may have a point...
- The Faceless: Before becoming a dog.
- Forced Transformation: Turned into a dog against his will by the Drifter.
- Iconic Item: His black bandana and studded wristband, which he retained as a dog.
- Icy Blue Eyes: His dog self is half husky, with the eyes to match.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Grows into one over the run of the series. He definitely was a worse person before becoming a dog.
- Lack of Empathy: Originally one of his worst faults.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: His dog self looks absolutely adorable; just look at his portrait above!
- Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist: Downplayed; Eddie being a jerk is the reason why he was turned into a dog to begin with, and he gradually becomes a better person over the course of the series.
Justin Taylor
Played By: Brandon Gilberstadt
- Badass Adorable: Kid can be pretty tough when the occasion calls for it.
- Butt-Monkey: Poor kid gets bullied at school on a daily basis.
- The Chew Toy: The abuse he takes from bullies at school (and sometime outside) would be considered attempted murder in real life.
- Distressed Dude: Often times Played for Laughs.
- Extreme Doormat: Sometimes, also an occasional No-Respect Guy.
- Sarcastic Devotee: He helps Eddie out, but now that the latter is a dog who can't bully him any longer, Justin isn't afraid to be snarky towards him.
- Secret-Keeper: He's the only person who can actually understand Eddie. Everyone else just thinks it's a regular dog.
- Two First Names: "Justin" and "Taylor".
The Drifter
Played By: Richard Moll
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Although it's not like he actually introduced himself at any point.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Not the most pleasant fellow, but his decision to turn Eddie into a dog was partially motivated by a genuine desire to make him a better person.
- No Name Given: He's only known as "the Drifter".
- Reality Warper: Again, the guy can casually turn people into dogs and has been shown to possess some shapeshifting powers of his own.
- Trickster Mentor: He will sometimes provide advice and guidance to Eddie.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Forcefully turning Eddie into a dog against his will with no way to become human again unless he performs 100 good deeds maybe was a little harsh.
Doug Taylor

Gwen Taylor
Played By: Morgan Kibby
- Big Sister Bully: To Justin, mostly in a neglectful sense.
- Bratty Teenage Daughter: A teenager, a girl, and kind of a jerk.
- Kick the Dog: She'd literaly kick Eddie, if she got the chance, not to mention how badly she treats her llittle brother.
- Pet the Dog: She has her moments.
- Two First Names: "Gwen" and "Taylor".
