Human Characters

     Stuart Richardson
Stuart is the only human character aboard the ship. Having been an IT technician before recruitment, he serves as the crew's resident computer expert.
  • Old Maid: Distaff Counterpart. He's never had a girlfriend all his life and is "barely 26" when the series begins. The show often pokes fun at his relationship status.
  • Only Sane Man: It must be hard for him being the only human on the ship with a bunch of wacky puppets.

     Natalie Turlington
Natalie is the Director of Mission Control at Bezusk Plastics, LLC, where she struggles to deal with the insanity that the mission and its crewmembers throw at her. She gradually serves as a love interest for Stuart.
  • Shopaholic: Has a bit of a problem with buying shoes.

Puppet Characters

     RJ Beverly
"I've been worried about aliens my entire life, and now I will be one. How weird is that? (beat) THAT'S SUPER WEIRD!"
RJ

RJ is a skilled mechanic, and was selected for the mission to perform maintenance around the ship. He's also a paranoid conspiracy theorist who brings a lot of odd ideas before the crew.

  • Conspiracy Theorist
  • Disproportionate Retribution: In "The Sandwich Thief", he shuts down the ship's engines all because someone ate his sandwich. He wouldn't let the ship travel to Neptune unless someone confessed.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: He often speaks that way. This is justified, because the show is supposed to be family-friendly and wouldn't use any real profanity.
  • Insane Troll Logic: He simply operates on this trope.
  • Pet the Dog: In "Rawhide", he catches Quentin and Quincy trying to sneak out of the ship to go back to Earth. But instead of punishing them, he takes them on a camping trip (whilst on a spaceship), because he knew they were homesick and figured they needed some company.
  • Too Dumb to Live: At the beginning of the first episode, he throws the entirety of the ship's 9-year supply of food into space because he doesn't trust the ingredients used to make them. This kickstarts the plot about finding another way to make food so everyone doesn't starve to death.
  • Troll: He runs a podcast called "Truth Serum", which is also the episode's title, and he enjoys getting on people's nerves (especially Natalie's) unless they agree with him.

     Burk Mullen
Hailing from Australia, Burk is a former Hollywood actor who appointed himself captain of the ship. His many years of acting have given him a muscular physique, but not a lot of brain power.

     Dr. Dale Whimfers
"I like it out here. Nothing to worry about. No shark attacks, bee stings... just the endless void of space. (beat) ...Wait, that's worse."
Dale

Dale is the resident doctor of the ship, tending to crewmembers who are sick or injured. Despite being medically trained, Dale is also a nervous and paranoid hypochondriac.

  • Nervous Wreck: Is pretty much always in a state of panic in one way or another.

     Suzy Hewson

Suzy is one of the most multi-talented members of the ship's crew, having had many differing careers over the years. She spends every chance she can trying to encourage her fellow crewmembers to smile and be happy.

  • The Pollyanna: She is easily the most high-spirited one in the group. She insists on maintaining a positive attitude, even in the face of certain doom. She even breaks into song, much to the annoyance of others.

     Quentin & Quincy Hewson

Suzy's sons, who she brought with her on the ship so they could help spread some joy. The boys value their mom immensely, and usually spend their time trying to make money to get her fancy things.

     Harold Biscuitfog

Harold is an elderly man who was selected to go on the ship for his military background. Harold is so elderly, in fact, that he states himself to be "at least 200" years old, and is prone to coming off as rather senile.

  • Scatterbrained Senior: He is incredibly senile, and he doesn't even remember how old he is.
  • Vague Age: One of his earliest lines indicates he was present for the signing of the US Constitution. Whether or not that's actually true is impossible to tell.

     Kashmere Lopez
"Without Instagram, I'm nothing but a talented, beautiful young woman facing a whole lifetime of infinite possibilities ...with nobody to witness it!"
Kashmere

Coming from a Brazilian background, Kashmere is a highly popular social media influencer, who sees her mission as the ultimate magnet for likes. While her phone addiction makes her seem vapid and self-centered, Kashmere is actually a pretty nice person, as demonstrated when the other crewmembers help her step away from her phone for a while.

     Sascha Van Doren
"I don't mind if someone else commands this ship, as long as that "someone else" is me."
Sascha

Sascha Boswick Van Doren III is the smartest person aboard the ship, and thus functions as the crew's chief scientist. She's also an aspiring villain with an unending thirst for power and aims to usurp the position of captain from Burk.

  • Evil Brit: Yes, she's evil. And yes, she's British.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: One time, she tries to convince the crewmates to halt Phillipe 5000's construction after discovering that he's French. Later episodes show that Sacha and Phillipe don't get along very well.
  • Put on a Bus: In the last episode of the first season. Sascha was critically injured, and had to return to Earth for medical treatment.

     Phillipe 5000
Phillipe is a robotic French chef who runs the ship's cafeteria, which he turned into a five-star restaurant. He was initially discovered and built by RJ after the mechanic stupidly threw the crew's food supply into space, but was accidentally made murderously hostile upon his activation. It was only thanks to Suzy and her sons singing a French song to him that rendered him benevolent.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The moment he is built and activated by RJ, he knocks him out cold and goes out to kill the others. Fortunately, he is pacified when Suzy and her sons sing him a song in French. It was then revealed by RJ that the reason Phillipe went haywire was because the former connected the AC port to the UPI connector by mistake.
  • Silicon Snarker: He's French, so naturally he's a sarcastic one.

     Howard Bezusk
Howard is the elderly and deranged CEO of Bezusk Plasics, LLC, and thus is both Natalie and Pauline's boss and the man who funded the 9-year expedition to Neptune. He started the whole thing in the first place because he desired a sample of dust from Neptune's surface, believing that it would extend his lifespan.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: He is quirky like the other puppet characters, but he's also really crazy. In the first episode, he actually thought the crew was already halfway there to Neptune even though they just launched yesterday. When Natalie corrects him, he orders her to file a lawsuit against the Milky Way galaxy "because Neptune is too far away".
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He's almost always angry whenever he's onscreen.
  • Immortality Seeker: He wants the crew to reach Neptune and collect the planet's dust in a jar because he believes it contains life-prolonging properties.
  • Large Ham: He gets hilariously over the top whenever something goes wrong, when the crew members still haven't made it to Neptune yet, and when Natalie asks him for a raise.
  • Mean Boss: He is a grouchy and irrational boss who yells at Natalie a lot. He doesn't take kindly to Natalie interrupting him and has fired and rehired her multiple times. In the first season finale, he even finds a replacement for Natalie before she tells him she's switching careers and going to work for NASA.

     Pauline Evans
Pauline is Natalie's unendingly miserable co-worker in accounting, often spending her time spinning tragic yarns about her life to her. According to Natalie, she doesn't actually work in accounting, she seems to live in accounting.
  • The Eeyore: Pauline is this trope, personified. Her character is even designed to look perpetually sad. Even her glasses are slanted from both sides for extra effect.

Other

     M.A.R.T.H.A.
M.A.R.T.H.A., an acronym for "Mainframe Articulate Response Technical Help Assistant", is the intelligent supercomputer who operates the ship. She is known for taking things too literally and stating the obvious, and Stuart thinks she could easily go rogue at any time.
