"It's better to have muddy boots than to be lying in a ditch with a hole in your chest."

Likeness provided by: Athena Stamos

A victim of the Last Great Time War, who lost her family and home world of Moldox to Daleks. Since that horrible day when the Daleks invaded, she has become a refugee and Dalek hunter. She encounters the old War Doctor and ends up being the reason the war enters the homestretch.

  • Bound and Gagged: Happens to her when Karlax and the Castellan use the Mind Probe on her.
  • Break the Cutie: Everything that ever happened to her since the Time War began.
  • Broken Tears: Sometimes finds herself crying over who she's lost in the Time War.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her whole family was slain by Daleks and left to rot where they fell. The War Doctor ensured they all got proper burials, eventually, as did Cinder.
  • Fiery Redhead: A redhead with a fiery temper.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Jumps in front of a shot to save the Doctor from Karlax. The Doctor is forced to allow this to happen so Borusa can use his powers as a possibility engine to erase the Eternity Circle and the Daleks in the Tantalus Spiral from existence instead of bringing her back to life.
  • Kill the Cutie: Gets gunned down by a trigger-happy Karlax, which causes the War Doctor to wring his neck, evict him from the TARDIS by force, and send him back to the Eternity Circle to be exterminated.
  • Known Only by Their Nickname: Cinder is not her real name.
  • MacGyvering: Made a gun out of Dalek bits and bobs that can effectively kill the pepperpots. That is, unless its power pack runs out.
  • My Life Flashed Before My Eyes: Her last thoughts are of her dearly departed family before she succumbs to her wounds.
  • No Name Given: Her real human name is not given. The War Doctor eventually learns it after her demise, and finds it beautiful. We, the readers, however, do not learn it from our perspective- we just hear the general idea of what it's like.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: Her death is what spurs the War Doctor to put an end to the Time War.
  • Sacrificial Lion: A hero whose death has significant consequences.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Very. She's the reason why a 400-year war that encompasses eternity itself is brought to a close.
