- I Just Want to Be Normal: Initially, though Annabelle points out to her that she has always been anything but.
- Military Brat: Her parents are both working for the military.
- Nice Girl: Very supportive of everyone around her.
- Omniglot: Speaks 9 languages, Japanese and French among them.
- Power Incontinence: What she suffers from initially.

- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Tomboy to Annabelle's Girly Girl.
- Tomato in the Mirror: Not only learns that she has powers, but also that she is from a different Earth.

- Shipper on Deck: Seems to be one for her daughter and Lourdes.
Greg McDuffie
Species: Human
Played by: Barry Watson
Naomi's adoptive father, a veteran military officer.
- Nice Guy: Like Jennifer, he is an extremely friendly and supportive individual.
- Parents as People: He and Jennifer kept Naomi's true origins from her daughter to protect her.
Naomi's friends
Naomi's quintet of friends.
- Canon Foreigner: Except for Annabelle, all of them were invented for the show.
- No Name Given: None of their surnames are known so far, except Annabelle's, assuming it's the same as in the comics.

Played by: Mary Charles Jones
Naomi's best friend.
- Best Friend: She's Naomi's primary confidant.
- Motor Mouth: When she gets nervous.
- Official Couple: With Jacob.

- Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly Girl to Naomi's Tomboy.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Gives and receives these speeches fairly regularly.
Nathan

- Amicable Exes: With Naomi, until they share a kiss at the end of "Enigma" and start dating again.
- Betty and Veronica: The Veronica to Anthony's Betty.

- Military Brat: He has that in common with Naomi.
Lourdes
Species: Human
Played by: Camila Moreno
A high school dropout and comic nerd who works at the local vintage collectibles shop.
- Entitled to Have You: Despite knowing that Naomi is together with Nathan, she still acts angry when she tries to kiss Naomi and the latter pulls back, blaming Naomi for not returning her feelings and "leading her on."
- Unrequited Love: She has an obvious crush on Naomi, which irritates both Nathan and Anthony, though Naomi clearly only sees her as a friend.
Anthony
Species: Human
Played by: Will Meyers
A townie with a crush on Naomi.
- Betty and Veronica: The Betty to Nathan's Veronica.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Unfortunately for him, Naomi still has feelings for Nathan. Downplayed, however, since he shows no signs of the Entitled to Have You this trope usually implies.
- Nice Guy: He can be described as a sweetheart who really doesn't seem to have it out for anyone. His reaction to being trolled by Nathan (giving him the wrong address to his house party) is less anger and more weary frustration.
Jacob
Species: Human
Played by: Aidan Gemme
Annabelle's boyfriend and the group's resident science nerd.
- The Alleged Car: His car is.....not in a good state. It eventually breaks down completely.
- Crazy-Prepared: Has 'break-in clothes' in his backpack for Naomi, Annabelle, Nathan, Anthony, Lourdes and himself. To be clear, he didn't know for sure till they were on the bus for the field trip that there was going to be a break-in, and didn't know till after the tour started that Nathan, Anthony and Lourdes were going to be involved, or that Lourdes was even there.
- The Cuckoolander Was Right: He has been obsessed with UFOs for years, and it turns out one of his friends is an alien.
- Nice Guy: A friendly young man.
- Official Couple: He treats Annabelle like a queen, having been dating her since the 5th grade.
Port Oswego residents
Esme Brooks
Species: Human
Played by: Alie Urquhart
The Class President at Port Oswego High School and Naomi's rival.
- Moral Guardian: She imposes a sugar ban on the school's vending machine without anybody's approval.
- The Rival: She competes against Naomi in debate club and the students also pitted them against each other for the position of Class President. However, there still seems to be a level of respect between them.
Darcovo / Dee
Species: Thanagarian
Played by: Alexander Wraith
The town's resident tattoo artist, secretly an alien warrior from Planet Thanagar.
- Bruiser with a Soft Center: He's a muscular, stoic guy with anxiety, who is extremely soft-spoken.
- Carnivore Confusion: Naomi points out to Jennifer that Dee has wings and it might be insensitive to serve him chicken when he comes to them for dinner. Dee says it's fine, though.
- The Force Is Strong with This One: Is able to sense unique vibrations in people who have superpowers.
- Mentor Archetype: He teaches Naomi martial arts and control of her powers. Later, he becomes a mentor for Annabelle as well.
- Human Alien: A Thanagarian who looks indistinguishable from a human, except for the wings.
- My Greatest Failure: He reveals that the tattoo he has is in memory of Qyeala, the woman he loved, whom he never dared to tell how he felt about her.
- Old Friend: Of Superman; the two once fought in a war together.
- Old Soldier: We don't know how old he is, or if Thanagarians even age at the same rate as humans, but he ticks every other box of this trope.
- Red Herring: To cover up the Superman sighting in the pilot episode, he initially claims to have hired an actor with a jetpack who posed as Superman as a publicity stunt.
- Winged Humanoid: Being a Thanagarian like classic DC superheroes Hawkman and Hawkwoman, he has a pair of large, metallic wings that he can retract at will.
Zumbado
Species: Alien (from Earth-29)
Played by: Cranston Johnson
The mysterious used car salesman of Port Oswego. Naomi soon discovers that he is much more than he lets on.
- Adaptational Heroism: In the comics, Zumbado was a Card-Carrying Villain who was responsible for the destruction of his world. Here, he's Good All Along.
- Ambiguously Evil: His motivations remain unclear. According to Akira, he is the reason they cannot return home. She's under the wrong impression, or possibly even lying. Zumbado knew Naomi's parents and promised that he would watch over her and protect her. Unfortunately, he did this by repeatedly telling her not to get involved in a menacing way, making him initially seem evil.
- Blow You Away: Displays this power, easily knocking a still inexperienced Naomi down.
- Good All Along: He knew Naomi's biological parents and he promised to protect her.
- Human Alien: Just like Naomi.
- Mind over Matter: Although his power manifests often like wind, he also demonstrates the ability to move objects, such as a gun pulled on him, with just his mind. He was also able to contain Naomi's energy and move it back at her.
- Psychic Powers: He can reach into people’s mind and to bring them into his. He is also able to show Naomi his past and transfer all the knowledge, emotions, and memories he had of Earth-29 to Naomi.
- Villain Respect: He's clearly impressed with Naomi's boldness and eventually hands her the disk voluntarily.
- With Us or Against Us: He makes it clear to Akira, after she turns down his offer to work together, that he is not gonna let her stand in his way.

- Abled in the Adaptation: His comic-book counterpart, Sarge Steel, has a prosthetic hand. He appears to have both hands.
- Adaptational Villainy: In the comics, Sarge Steel is morally ambiguous at worst, sometimes using underhanded means but usually working for the greater good. Commander Steel, on the other hand, is a paranoid xenophobe who is prepared to detain and torture kids if he thinks they're aliens.
- Composite Character: While he is based on the DC character Sarge Steel, he also shares a name with another DC character, Hank Heywood, who has already appeared on Legends of Tomorrow.
- Inspector Javert: As the head of the UAPTF, he assumes that all aliens are potentially dangerous and hostile.
