Squad One in My Superhero Academy

Sam: This is my life now
Marcus:
Nariko: I was not there for the battle, Iona, but I can tell you this: whether or not one is a hero is not determined by one's view of oneself. It is a matter of doing what is right.
Mikoto:
Saori:
Katesthiólepída:
Locke:
Abigail:

A mish-mash of old and new. The old, core of S1 are old soldiers so to say. The rest of the squad's personnel have turned over considerably, but a couple of their former members left legacies.

  • Sentai: Affectionately known as Team Anime

     Sam Everett (Snow Leopard)
Player: Blueace

  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Has rather low self esteem and berates himself for many actions. Turns out he has depression and is treating it.
  • Pretty Boy: Contrasting with Shane's more buffed out looks, Sam is more of a pretty boy, with a more lean look.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: It's generally very clear he isn't too comfortable with opening up and expressing himself.

     Marcus / Stalwart / Labrys
Player: Nick The Swing

The supposed Clone / Regeneration of / Its Complicated of The Saint, undertaken by Malhareff as an attempt at creating a weapon. However the end of the Guardians came too soon for anything to come of him. Instead, Marky proceeded to become a Hero in his own right, joining the Foundation when a call for more heroes was put out. Marky is very much what Malhareff thinks a cool teenager is like, after researching online trends and marketable characteristics - as a result, he's a 90s boy and an awkward addition to the team.

Following the events of the Saviors War and an incident in Greece, Marcus has emerged very troubled and with issues regarding his memories and tendencies toward violence. He remains wholly committed to Thou Shalt Not Kill outside of war time situations, but his ability to hold himself to this is getting shakier.

  • '90s Anti-Hero: Subverted - Marky is very much a 90s kid, but he's not a gunslinging edgy anti-hero. He even comes into the big fancy dinner being thrown for the new heroes on a skateboard.
    • Later on however Marky starts going by Marcus, changes his hero name to Stalwart, and becomes Darker and Edgier, though not exactly beholden to 90s stereotypes. While still very much a hero, it is mentioned that axe kick he did to the Anti-Saint's neck would've decapitated anyone else.
    • As Labrys he plays with the trope - he wields an axe, his outfit and look are darker, and he has a more troubled countenance. He does however intend to restrain himself before anything happens.
  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: Averted - Marcus remembers all the horrible things the Minotaur did, as they are now fused together.
  • Berserk Button: Being called a monster is a quick way to either make him angry or make him shut down and hold off of interacting.
    • A very specific shade of red seems to incite him emotionally. Could be a reference to a Bull Seeing Red, seeing as Marcus fused with something that could charitably be described as a bull-humanoid.
  • Captain Ersatz: The Superboy to Saint's Superman. Replete with a similar stated backstory.
    • Possibly due to being based on marketing and popular trends, Marky is a rather dull blond boy with bushy hair, a muscular body, and a similar speaking style. He's more or less Logan Paul without the insensitivity.
  • Clone Angst: Starting to suffer from it lately, though nowhere near to the extent of the dread Clone Saga with regards to Peter Parker and Ben Reilly. Following the reveal of the Anti-Saint, Marcus has started to view himself in a more negative, monstrous light, and his aggression has started to peak. Not helped by the events at the conclusion of the Savior War and the Minotaur Incident.
  • Enemy Within: Its complicated. The Minotaur does not exactly still exist as a separate consciousness, but Marcus still experiences its instincts, memories, and some of its abilities. Which include a gross biological ability.
  • Fusion Dance: Due to events Marcus very much prefers not talking about, Marcus and The Minotaur monstrosity ended up fused together, with Marcus explicitly remembering the Minotaur's kills and its emotions.
  • Heroic Build: He doesn't show it often due to his very baggy skater clothes, but when he wears a black shirt and jeans, its obvious that Marky is ripped. His musculature gets more accentuated later on as he becomes rougher.
  • Idiot Hero: Marky is...not the brightest bulb. Though he has been getting better.
  • Implacable Man: Shrugs off a laser shot to the chest, which seems to start healing quicker than usual.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Downplayed, but Marcus can explicitly manipulate his biology, though he doesn't know much about this power. Considering he got it from the Minotaur Fusion, and the Minotaur was a horrible eldritch Animalistic Abomination...
  • Meaningful Rename: Stops going by Marky, and starts going by Marcus following the reveal of the Anti-Saint and following character development.
  • Scars Are Forever: Marcus is now all scarred up - mostly on some odd places on the arm and leg, with an even stranger scar on his eye that along with that eye seems to glow yellow.
  • Super-Strength, Super-Toughness, Super-Speed: Same powers as The Saint basically but somewhat weaker. Though he has been diverging from The Saint of late.
    • Mind over Matter: Comes to possess tactile telekinesis after training with Cole.
  • Survival Mantra: "No rest, no mercy, no matter what."
  • Token Heroic Orc: Being that his creation involved putting a very similar thought matrix inside of his head as what the Eternal Horde has, it could be argued he's this.
  • Totally Radical: Talks the part of the 90s kid - his speech is littered with 90s slang. This however drastically decreases as he experiences the trauma of the Saviors Arcs.
