1st Tactical Armor Regiment 17th Battalion "Wardog Squadron"

Tatsunami Hibiki

Rank: 1st Lieutenant
Callsign: Drake 1 —> Wardog 1
Voiced by: Mitsuhiro Ichiki

  • Accidental Hero: He and Yuzuka became famous in Seattle for surviving the grand ocean collapse and walking thorugh the barren US territory, however, he was mostly catatonic during this time, and can't recall most of the events.
  • Badass Adorable: Hibiki is said to be more cute than hot, and Ellen even says at one point he doesn't feel so masculine, nonetheless, it doesn't stop him from being an amazing pilot and flight leader.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The entirety of his experiences since Operation Babylon have left a dark shadow over him, to the point where has constant recurring nightmares.
  • Determinator: When his mind is made up, nothing can deter Hibiki. This leads to him doing such things as standing in the middle of an active battlefield outside of his TSF in order to stop a war.
  • Height Angst: He is basically shorter than everybody around him, and bringing it up is a sure way to annoy him or at worst freeze him.
  • Missing Time: He has trouble recalling his time in the salt wastelands.
  • Nerves of Steel: Some of the actions Hibiki pulls off are those only a madman would dare contemplate.

Sendou Yuzuka

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Callsign: Drake 2 —> Wardog 2
Voiced by: Yuka Inokuchi

  • Axe Before Entering: She tries to axe Hibiki's door at one point (to wake him up from a nightmare) but almost ends up axing him.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Very much so towards Hibiki.
  • The Ojou: Matsukaze speculated that she was from a Samurai family. Her father was actually the head of Japan's largest TSF Manufacturer.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Incredibly devoted to Hibiki, but more than capable of holding her own. Ellen calls her out on it from time to time.

Ellen Aice / Josette Danbelcourt

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Callsign: Dorado 4 —> Carronade 2 —> Wardog 3
Voiced by: Kei Mizusawa

  • Cool Big Sis: Acts this way for Miono.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: Of her teammate in Last Divers, the real Ellen Aice, who sacrificed herself to save her and pleaded for her to live on as Ellen.
  • Fallen Princess: Her father was the erstwhile President of the French Senate, executed as a "traitor to national interests" (read: being too pro-UN and/or pro-American).
  • The Gadfly: She runs on the trope, everything she says is aimed at toying with her teammates. Her exploits range from making them believe Shizuku was giving Hibiki a love letter, to spreading rumors about Yuzuka being the descendant of shamans.
  • Gorgeous Gaijin: The bustiest, and more likely to be lightly clothed of the team, she's also the only foreigner, being Canadian actually, French.
  • Hero of Another Story: Of Chronicles: Last Divers.
  • It's Raining Men: A former Orbital Diver.

Miono Shizuku

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Callsign: Carronade 3 —> Wardog 4
Voiced by: Ringo Aoba

    Empire of Japan

Marimo Jinguuji

Rank: Major
Voiced by: Miki Inoue
  • Broken Bird: The failures heaped upon her, from the cancellation of Alternative IV and the disappearance of Yuuko to whatever transformed Takeru into a willing servant of Ikaruga has left her in an even worse position than she was in Unlimited and Alternative, to the point where she attempts suicide by blowing up a Carrier class BETA with her S-11.
  • Majorly Awesome: Having rejoined the Imperial Army, she has reclaimed her title of major and lives up to it by almost single-handedly holding together the Japanese in Seattle.

Sayoko Komaki

Rank: Captain
Unit: 1st Tactical Armor Regiment
Voiced by: Natsumi Takamori
  • The Captain: Acting Commander of the 1st Tactical Armor Regiment following Jinguuji's dismissal.

Ryouichi Matsukaze

Rank: 1st Lieutenant
Unit: 1st Tactical Armor Regiment
Voiced by: Takahiro Mizushima

Ritsuko Oogami

Rank: 1st Lieutenant
Unit: 1st Tactical Armor Regiment
Voiced by: Miu Yuzuhara

  • Badass Arm-Fold: Introduced posing so in a Shout-Out to Gunbuster, complete with Boss Subtitles and Homage soundtrack.
  • Boss Subtitles: During her very first scene.
  • Coat Cape: During her introduction, in typical banchou style. She was the head of her high school's music club and accustomed to wearing her coat that way during her earlier years.
  • Canon Immigrant: From sister company phi-age's VN Owarinaki Natsu, Towa Naru Shirabe, a stealth prequel set in the world of Unlimited / Alternative.

Kusumoto Sayaka

Rank: Sergeant
Unit: Imperial Japanese Army Maintenance
Voiced by:
  • The Engineer: A highly talented mechanic who works tirelessly to keep Japan's few remaining TS Fs in working order.

Yuuhi Koubuin / Meiya Mitsurugi

Rank: Shogun (IJA Commander-in-Chief)
Unit: N/A
Voiced by: Kazumi Okushima
  • Backup Twin:Deconstructed. Unlike Yuuhi, who was trained to be a shogun, Meiya, while having the right ideals and Yuuhi's identity, does not have the clout that Ikaruga has to maintain Japan in a post-Alternative V World, and so she tends to be pushed around by the royal guard.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: In a dog-eat-dog world, she still tries to be a moral paragon even when her hands are largely tied thanks to Ikaruga and the Imperial Royal Guard.

Takatsugu Ikaruga

Rank: Commander-in-chief
Unit: Imperial Royal Guard
Voiced by: Kissho Taniyama
  • Ace Custom: His blue Takemikazuchi is retained from its appearance in Alternative, and furthermore he carries the same Railgun seen in Total Eclipse into action.
  • Praetorian Guard: Including the part of supplanting the authority of the one he's meant to guard.
  • The Chessmaster: Has some kind of grand plan he's working towards to safeguard what's left of the Japanese people.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Ikaruga has effectively replaced the Shogun as the supreme authority of the Empire of Japan.

Takeru Shirogane

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Unit: Imperial Royal Guard, Horn Company
Voiced by: Soichiro Hoshi
  • Ace Pilot: His piloting skills are every bit at awesome as they were in Alternative, with Takeru destroying five Rafales crewed by elite French surface pilots in his first action, and later tearing through the BETA at the JFK Hive like they're not even there.
  • Break the Cutie: Whatever happened to Takeru following Alternative V has turned him into a silent, dead-eyed figure who will even arrest Marimo if ordered to by Ikaruga. The only time he ever shows emotion is when fighting in his Takemikazuchi.
  • Mercy Kill: To Sumika, unknowingly.
  • One-Man Army: In the JFK Hive Operation, Takeru alone spearheads the entire assault towards the Hive Reactor, and leaving nothing but corpses in his wake.

    United States

Alfred Walken

Rank: Major
Unit: US 66th TSF Wing
Voiced by: Takashi Maejima

    France-Canada Coalition

Lea Gegranne

Rank: Major
Unit: 13th Tactical Dragoon Regiment
Voiced by:
  • French Jerk: Full of venom towards the United States, to which end she is willing to use nuclear weapons on American and Japanese forces.
  • Majorly Awesome: A founding member of the French 6th Republic and national hero to the French living in Canada.

Bernadette Le Tigre De La Rivière

Rank: Captain
Unit: 131st TSF Group, 13th Tactical Dragoon Regiment
Voiced by: Mikako Takahashi
  • French Jerk: to a lesser degree than Lea, but still enough to get on Hibiki's nerves.

Derek Ironside

Rank: Captain
Unit: 24th Tactical Armoured Battalion
Voiced by:

Naoya Sagiri

Rank: Captain
Unit: French Foreign Legion
Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu
  • Ace Pilot: Like in Alternative, it's understated, but it should be noted that he was able to survive encounters with Walken, who pilots The Dreaded F-22, but also Shirogane Takeru, who is the indisputed best pilot in the series and a One-Man Army capable of cutting down entire squadrons of Rafales.
  • Legion of Lost Souls: Joined the Foreign Legion after the Imperial Royal Guard thwarted his attempted coup against them.

    JFK Naval Garrison Base

Willbert D. Collins

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant

  • Decoy Protagonist: The POV character of the Prologue Chapter, he remains behind on the doomed JFK, and his corpse later shows up in a BETA jar inside the hive built around the carrier.
  • Will They or Won't They?: With Lilia.
    • They don't.

Daryl A McManus

Rank: Lieutenant
Voiced by: Yukari Matsumoto

  • Team Mom: The "Big Mama" of the Black Knives Squadron.

Lilia Kjellberg

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Voiced by: Ayumi Sena

Melvina Vidya Advani

Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Voiced by: Piko Kougetsu

  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Has a knack for appearing out of nowhere, while Lilia gets used to it quickly, it gets Will every time.
  • Wrench Wench: Her parents made sure she learned engineering in order to get a citizenship, those skill proved invaluable in the construction of the relay system.
