Rudeus' father and former leader of the Fangs of the Black Wolf adventurer group.

  • Action Dad: Paul is a loving father, and will do anything to protect his family. He's also an experienced adventurer, one of the best swordsmen in the series, and even in middle age, will go toe to toe with monsters.
  • Amazon Chaser: Downplayed. He prefers more active women (especially in bed) over nobles' daughters that wear too much makeup and don't exercise.
  • Apathetic Student: In Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden Runaway Arc, Paul wasn't great in his academic studies. Mainly because he finds the entire thing boring. The only subject he had an interest in learning was swordsmanship, and while he did later come around to attend his classes, swordsmanship was still his major subject of interest.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: When Rudeus first reincarnates, he describes Paul as "a strong-looking, egotistical-looking man" just by looking at him, and goes on to compare his brown hair favorably to Japanese Delinquents. Sure enough, Paul is a Master Swordsman and a scummy Handsome Lech.
  • Beard of Sorrow: Along with his Exhausted Eyebags, it shows just how deep in despair he felt after the Mana Catastrophe.
  • Breakout Character: The mobile game gives him his own set of scenarios that are supervised by the author called, Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden, which details the events of his life before settling down with Zenith and Rudeus' birth.
  • Bumbling Dad: Much more laid-back and hands-off as a parent than his wife Zenith. Rudeus even acknowledges that their dynamic, "a slightly hysterical mother, and a father who does things calmly and leisurely", is "a scene you see often".
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: He loves women with big breasts. His two wives, Zenith and Lilia, are well-endowed.
  • Chick Magnet: Even after marriage, he is still popular with the women around him.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Always keeps his sword, with some money and his adventurer's card in its sheath which comes in handy when he and Norn are suddenly teleported during the Mana Catastrophe.
  • Dies Wide Open: After being killed by the Hydra, he dies with his eyes open as he looks directly at Rudeus, with his gaze expressing his relief to see his son is safe.
  • Dirty Kid: As revealed in episode 2 of Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden Runaway Arc, Paul was 5 when he developed a strong sexual interest in females.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: After the Mana Catastrophe and at least a year of no confirmation as to whether anyone in his family was alive besides Norn, Paul's nearly a broken man taking to alcohol to evade his horrible nightmares of failing his family.
  • Dual Wielding: He's proficient in wielding two swords at once.
  • Dude, She's Like in a Coma: He raped and deflowered Lilia in her sleep while they were students training under the same dojo. A relatively positive example in this situation, as Lilia was later okay with it since he wasn't a "bad guy" and, in hindsight, decided her first time was better off with him rather than any of the fat depraved nobles in the palace she used to work at.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Very much downplayed. When Rudeus first reincarnates in the web novel, he admires Paul's muscles, calling them "amazing", and praises his "beautiful brown locks" because they aren't dyed like the Japanese Delinquents who usually have hair that color. But that display of admiration likely comes from Paul being Rudeus's father, and isn't meant to be taken as evidence of any attraction on Rudy's part.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: He has these when Rudeus meets him after the mass teleportation incident. This shows his depression and stress over not being able to find his family for the past year.
  • Freudian Excuse: As shown in good detail in Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden Runaway Arc. A lot of Paul's Manchild tendencies can be traced back to how he had trouble growing up and socializing in nobility, especially with the expectations placed upon him as the firstborn son.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: No one seems to like Paul. Not the old Fangs of the Black Wolf party members, not the other Greyrats, not Zenith's family, and even his wives Zenith and Lilia seem closer to each other than to him especially after he cheats on the former. Rudeus himself considers his dad to be a complete scumbag, but also acknowledges that given the standards of their world he's considerably better than most other nobles. His family and friends help him because of other obligations or out of respect for their shared past comradery or bloodline, but that's it. Only his daughter Norn holds him in high regard, even if just because the circumstances in which she was raised kept her from being exposed to Paul's major flaws.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: In the final battle at the Teleport Labyrinth, the Hydra rips Paul's body in half, killing him.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: He and Lilia trained at the same dojo. Although he spent more time goofing off and chasing skirts than training, he became a much better swordsman than she ever could.
  • He Is All Grown Up: Lilia has this opinion after meeting him as an adult.
  • Hero of Another Story: He's had his own share of adventures prior to Rudeus' birth. As seen in Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden scenarios of the mobile game, where the making of it is supervised by the author himself.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: He gets ripped in half while stopping the Hydra from killing Rudy.
  • Hunk: He's regarded as a protector in the village, and is quite ripped.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: "Pauro" (パウロ), as written in Japanese, could refer to Saint Paul or the given name Paulo.
  • Jerkass Realization: Paul turns what should have been a happy reunion with his son into a bitter fight, all because he got angry about Rudeus staying ignorant about the mass teleportation incident while Paul was overworking himself trying to find the missing people with still no success at locating his missing family members. Afterwards, Geese talks some sense into Paul by telling him how much Rudeus struggled to even keep himself and Eris alive after being dropped into the Demon Continent with no one he knew to turn to for help. Geese's words make Paul realize he was unfair and inconsiderate towards Rudeus, being too worn out by his own hardships to see Rudeus'. Paul even thought Rudeus had the right to not forgive him, but Rudeus' experiences in his past life allow him to put himself in Paul's shoes and the two can reconcile.
  • Karma Houdini: Was never really punished for raping Lilia, as he ran away from the dojo after doing it, and she forgave him and later seduced him herself. He, however, did not get away with committing adultery with her, though, in that case, Lilia seduced him.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Paul was a very infamous womanizer in his youth. He then fell in love with Zenith when they were in an adventurer party together and they got married after he promised to be faithful only to her. He still cheats on Zenith once with their maid, though.
  • Lascivious Beauty Mark: Paul is a handsome man with a mole near his left eye and has a history of being The Casanova in his younger days, bedding several women before Zenith tied him down. He had to commit to monogamy only because of Zenith's religion, but even then, he couldn't resist sleeping with their maid.
  • Law of Inverse Fertility: Zenith became pregnant after sleeping with him once, which led both of them to retire from adventuring. And then there was his affair with Lilia which resulted in her pregnancy and the family drama that ensued. Despite his womanizing in his backstory, he's not known to have any other children.
  • The Leader: He used to lead the S-ranked adventurer group known as the Fangs of the Black Wolf. After the Mana Catastrophe, he forms the Fedoa Search Group to look for survivors from the Fedoa region.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Paul never figured out that Rawls from Buena Village (and father of his son's childhood friend) is related to his ex-True Companions Elinalise until the latter told him herself many years later.
  • Manchild: Downplayed, but he can be quite childish at times due to running away from home at the age of twelve. If anything, Paul's own growth as a father is almost as important as Rudeus' determination to not waste his second chance at life.
  • Master Swordsman: He's Advanced rank in the three main Sword Styles (Sword God, Water God, and North God).
  • Maternal Death? Blame the Child!: On the receiving end of this in Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden. After Valentina became dreadfully ill and soon died, both Amarant and Pilemon blamed Paul for "murdering" her, mainly because he wasn't there for her when she wanted to see him the most before her untimely death, and also for all the trouble that arise from Paul's carefree Really Gets Around beforehand.
  • Momma's Boy: Mushoku Tensei - Paul Gaiden reveals that he's much closer to his mother, Valentina, than his father, especially when Amarant's high expectations of Paul started taking a toll on the latter. In fact, Valentina's influence is part of the reason why Paul decides to pursue a life of freedom.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: When Rudeus reunites with Paul after the Mana Catastrophe, a frustrated Rudeus accuses Paul of having an affair with one of his female companions because he doubts Paul could resist putting his hands on a girl wearing Stripperiffic. What Rudeus doesn't know is that girl dresses skimpily to keep men's stares away from her sister who was used as a Sex Slave. Paul, who was already pissed at Rudeus' ignorance of the tragedies caused by the Mana Catastrophe, gets even angrier at Rudeus suggesting his father would fool around with other women while his wives Zenith and Lilia are still missing (Rudeus didn't know about this last fact either).
  • The Münchausen: The combination of being a Master Swordsman, a former adventurer and having a Urban Legend Love Life, Paul is quick to pass on all of his stories to his son Rudeus.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • He has a minor one when Rudeus explains what really happened when he saved Sylphiette from three bullies, believing one of their mothers when she claimed Rudy attacked them and Rudy responds to his attempts at discipline with "The Reason You Suck" Speech. This leads to him being gentler after the bath incident with Sylphiette.
    • After reuniting with Rudeus after years of separation and the Mana Catastrophe throwing almost the whole family to the winds, he quickly accuses Rudeus of goofing off and ignoring what was at stake since Rudeus never saw Paul's message to try to find everyone else, resulting in Rudeus flinging accusations right back and the two flipping out on each other. Geese had to break things down to Paul for him to realize just how badly he screwed up in expecting Rudeus, dumped in the middle of the extremely dangerous Demon Continent, to handle a lot more solely due to being a Child Prodigy.
  • No Sympathy: When Paul reunites with Rudeus after around five years, Rudeus tells him that he had been on a journey with Eris ever since they were both teleported to the Demon Continent, but makes the experience sound less difficult than it was to light up the mood. This backfires as Paul really gets the impression that Rudeus was just having fun on a "vacation" without knowing that the teleportation incident not only affected him and Eris, but the entire region they lived in. Many people, including most of the Greyrat family, are still missing and Paul was expecting Rudeus to already be aware of that so he would help with the search. Rudeus appeared to Paul to be too caught up in his own circumstances to even think other people got involved in the teleportation, but he was too busy trying to survive in an unfamiliar land filled with monsters while protecting Eris in their journey back to civilization, and Rudeus wasn't even aware of the fact that the teleportation incident affected the whole region of Fedoa and thought that his family was safe. Also, regardless of him being a prodigy, Rudeus is still a kid yet Paul was already expecting him to be more capable than him, an adult. In the end, Paul was just taking his own frustrations out on Rudeus. It's not until Geese gives Paul a lecture about how getting dropped into the Demon Continent isn't a walk in the park that Paul starts to get why it was so hard for Rudeus to stop and think there might be other people in trouble because of the teleportation.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Besides his own recollection, the specifics of him running away from home at the age of 12 due to an argument with his father are never fully elaborated. Until The Reveal in Mushoku Tensei: Paul Gaiden that is.
    • What made the rest of Fangs of the Black Wolf, besides Zenith (to a degree), resent Paul after disbanding is not known. The closet the readers get is Elinalise's hint of Paul's romantic endeavors.
  • Parents as People: Despite being an overall decent parent, Paul has his own issues, is not very mature, and can be rather short-sighted at times.
  • Really Gets Around: Before he settled with Zenith, Paul banged almost every woman who crossed his path.
  • Reformed Rake: Double Subverted. Paul used to be a womanizer with a terrible reputation back in his days as an adventurer. After he got married to Zenith, he promised to be faithful to her, but he couldn't resist their maid Lilia's seduction and ended up cheating on Zenith once. Despite this slip-up, he's devoted to his family and spends years desperately looking for Zenith after the Mana Catastrophe. At the end, he sacrifices his life in the battle against the Hydra to save his son Rudeus and assure Zenith's rescue.
  • Retired Badass: Former adventurer turned border village knight.
  • The Runaway: He got out of his house at age 12, leaving his younger brother Philemon to take over the Notos Greyrat family.
  • Sacrificial Lion: At the end of Zenith's rescue arc, Paul sacrifices his life to save Rudeus from the Hydra, becoming the first major character to die.
  • Shed the Family Name: He discarded the Notos surname after he ran away and gave up the position of family heir.
  • Silent Scapegoat: While he was shocked that Rudeus told Zenith that the affair between him and Lilia was all his faultnote  by "forcing" himself on her, Paul ends up going along with it to ensure that Lilia and their unborn child wouldn't be forced out of the household and end up getting killed in the wild. Of course, this doesn't stop him from being mad at Rudeus as they practice with swords.
  • Sword and Sorcerer: He's a swordsman and his wife Zenith is a mage who specializes in healing.
  • Taking the Bullet: In the Teleport Labyrinth, Paul kicks Rudeus out of the way of the hydra's attack. He loses his lower half because of it.
  • Tough Love: Paul knocks out Rudeus in an impromptu fight and ships him off to work for the Boreas family. Paul recognized that if he had told Rudeus his intentions, Rudeus would've tried to weasel out of it. Paul's plan was to have Rudeus work as Eris' private tutor for the next 5 years and during that time, he was forbidden from getting in contact with his family and Sylphiette. Paul set these terms because he recognized that both Rudeus and Sylphiette became too co-dependent on one another and stunt each other's growth. Considering how his own father treated him in Mushoku Tensei: Paul Gaiden, before their relationship became soured after the death of Valentina, it's rather justified in hindsight.

    Zenith

Zenith Greyrat

Rudeus' mother and former member of the Fangs of the Black Wolf.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Is drawn to the wild and dashing Paul, who had a reputation as a womanizer before their marriage. Deconstructed in that Paul's womanizing comes back full force and he later cheats on her.
  • Berserk Button: After she's rendered near-catatonic because of her telepathic power, one of the few things that can get a reaction out of her is Rudeus' Polyamory as she's clearly not pleased to hear he's got more than one wife.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: She has a well-endowed figure, which is her husband's preference.
  • Convenient Miscarriage: According to Orsted's theory, the original "Rudeus Greyrat" (not the current reincarnate) died as a stillborn baby, explaining why he never existed in the previous time loops. Since Zenith's first child was stillborn, the body was a convenient vessel for the soul of the Japanese man that got transported to their world.
  • Good Parents: Immediately uses a healing spell on Rudeus when he takes a fall, and consistently tries her best to be a kind and caring mother. Since Rudeus basically raises himself, though, the Greyrats' younger children are more difficult for her to raise.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has blonde hair and is a sweet woman as well as a good wife and mother.
  • Healing Hands: She was her party's healer when she was still active as an adventurer. In her retirement, she also works at the village clinic.
  • Human Popsicle: Trapped in a crystal at the lowest level of the Teleport Dungeon until saved by her family and her old comrades.
  • Idiot Hair: She has an ahoge that both her children inherited.
  • Indignant Slap:
    • She slaps Paul immediately after finding out he cheated on her and got Lilia pregnant.
    • She also slaps Rudeus when he states his intention to make Eris his third wife, as polygamous marriage goes against the monogamous values of Zenith's religion, and when he acted antagonistically towards his strict grandmother, not realizing her intentions.
  • Odd Friendship: She gets along well with the taciturn maid Lilia. Despite Lilia sleeping with Paul behind her back and getting pregnant as a result, Zenith finds it in herself to forgive her and welcome her as a family member.
  • Maternally Challenged: After having it relatively easy with Rudeus (who pretty much raised himself), she has a harder time taking care of Norn and Aisha. She pulls through with Lilia and Rudeus' help.
  • No Pregger Sex: Paul cheated on her with Lilia because Zenith was pregnant with Norn at the time and Paul was abstaining from sex with his wife out of concern for the pregnancy.
  • Parents in Distress: After the teleportation incident, Zenith is the one who stays missing the longest. Turns out she was trapped inside a crystal at a dungeon guarded by a hydra. Rudeus joins his father's rescue party to recover Zenith.
  • Retired Badass: Former adventurer turned ordinary housewife.
  • The Runaway: Zenith was born the second child of an Earl and raised to be a Proper Lady. By age 15, she became fed up with it and ran away from home.
  • Superpower Disability: She gains the power of telepathy as a result of being trapped inside a magic crystal for years. In return, she becomes mute (thus she also cannot chant for her magic). Also, she's in a permanent near-catatonic state. Everyone thought she was amnesiac and mentally disabled for years until the Miko of Millis revealed that Zenith is still self-aware, but her consciousness can only perceive her surroundings as a distant dream.
  • Sword and Sorcerer: She's a skilled mage and her husband Paul is a swordsman. Paul wanted their son Rudeus to become a swordsman too, but after they discover his talent for magic, Zenith insists they hire Roxy to train him as a mage.
  • Telepathy: She gains the ability to read minds after being trapped in a magic crystal during the teleportation incident. Although this rendered her unable to speak, she's the only one who can communicate telepathically with her granddaughter Lara.
  • Through His Stomach: She first learned to cook from Geese so she could become closer to Paul.
  • Top Wife: Zenith is Paul's first wife and she wanted their marriage to remain monogamous, but Rudeus convinced her to accept their maid Lilia as Paul's second wife after Paul gets her pregnant. However, Lilia still regards herself as a servant to Paul and Zenith, with her marriage to Paul being only for the sake of not making Aisha an illegitimate child, so Zenith is still treated as Paul's only true wife.
  • Uptight Loves Wild: Zenith is a very traditional, religious, motherly woman from a noble family, who married a wild, womanizing swordsman.
  • White Magician Girl: In her younger days, Zenith was her party's healer mage and her personality has always been sweet and loving.
  • Woman Scorned: She was raised conservatively, valuing monogamy, so she's enraged after learning Paul and Lilia had an affair and comes close to expelling Lilia to a dangerous return journey to her home. Thanks to Rudeus, she finds it in herself to forgive Lilia, but is much slower to forgive Paul.

    Lilia

Lilia Greyrat

Voiced by: Lynn (JP), Dani Chambers (EN) Foreign VAs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/liliaanime_6.png
The maid employed by the Greyrats in preparation of Rudeus' birth. She was once a guards-maid for an Asura noble, but suffered an injury which cost her job. When she arrived in the Fedoa region, she found an employment ad from a lower-class knight, who turned out to be Paul Greyrat, an old acquaintance of hers, who immediately hired her.

A few years after Rudy's birth, she seduced Paul and slept with him, ending up pregnant at roughly the same time as Zenith. When Lilia intended to take responsibility and leave the household, Rudeus convinced his mother to let Lilia stay, to save both Lilia's life and the life of his half-sister. Lilia then decided to dedicate her life, and the life of her daughter, Aisha, to Rudeus. To not give birth to a child out of wedlock, Paul married her. She still regards herself as the maid of the house though, and only secondary to Zenith.

  • Arranged Marriage: In Mushoku Tensei: Paul Gaiden, it's revealed that her father intended to arrange a marriage between her and one of his male disciples so he could name a successor to the dojo, and Paul just so happens to fit that category due to his talent in swordsmanship. Too bad Paul had different ideas of what he wanted in life, and if the main story is anything to go by, Augusta's attempts failed.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: She's the soft-spoken, cute, glasses-wearing maid (later second wife) of the household.
  • Bound and Gagged: In the light novel and anime, when she's taken hostage by Royal Brat Pax Shirone, she's bound, gagged, and used to capture Rudeus.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: She has a well-endowed figure, which is her husband's preference.
  • Career-Ending Injury: The wound in her thigh from a failed assassination attempt on Ariel, the princess of Asura, causes her to be slightly paralyzed, which got her fired from her Ninja Maid job at Royal Palace.
  • Consummate Professional: It's noted that Lilia was considered an absolutely perfect maid, even when she was working for the Asura royalty. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for her skills as a swordfighter.
  • Damsel in Distress: During the mass teleportation disaster, Lilia and Aisha got teleported to the Shirone Kingdom. When Rudeus learns of this through Aisha, Prince Pax has taken Lilia hostage in an attempt to lure Roxy back to the palace. Rudeus goes to rescue Lilia.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Before she became part of the Greyrat family, Lilia was once a "royal guardsmaid" employed at the Asura consorts' palace, perfect in her duties as a maid but a merely mediocre swordswoman. When an assassin tried to kill the newborn princess, Lilia took the poisoned dagger in her leg, causing permanent damage. This prompted the royal family to fire her. It's even noted in the web novel that, because she knew the layout of the palace, she could well have been executed to keep the information a secret — by comparison, she got off rather easily.
  • A Day in the Limelight: In the web novel, she is the focus of Chapter 2, "The Maid who Recoiled in Disgust", which explains how she ended up in the Greyrat house and her approach to raising baby Rudeus.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Later adaptations of the original webnovel has Lilia wearing glasses. Downplayed, however, in that she has some mild mobility issues from her leg injury in all adaptations.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She was creeped out by Rudeus' perverted tendencies as a baby and disliked him for quite a while, often looking the other way and avoiding him. She warms up to him after he saves her from being expelled from the Greyrat family.
  • Dope Slap: Lilia often has to discipline Aisha with a tap on the head whenever she gets out of line.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: Being a maid, her speech is extremely polite at all times, even when announcing her pregnancy.
  • Good Parents: She's a good mother to Aisha, although Lilia "advising" Aisha to use her womanly charms to control and please men make Rudeus a little concerned.
  • Good Stepmother: Although she was uncomfortable about Rudeus' perversion at first, she starts treating him nicely after Rudeus convinces Zenith to let Lilia stay despite Lilia sleeping with Paul behind her back. She's then accepted as Paul's second wife, thus making her Rudeus' stepmother. Since she helped take care of him from infancy, Rudeus thinks of Lilia as his other mother in his new life.
  • Hired Help as Family: While the Greyrats see her as family, she still regards herself as the maid of the house even after joining them through marriage. As an infant, Rudeus even assumes she is his biological aunt long before he can understand the Six-Faced World's language.
  • I Owe You My Life: Initially, Rudeus creeped her out because of his Dirty Kid traits. When she seduced Paul and got herself knocked up, Rudeus convinces Zenith that she should forgive Lilia and let her stay as another family member because kicking Lilia out of the house right after she gave birth could have been fatal for both Lilia and her newborn child. Since then, Lilia swears loyalty to Rudeus out of gratitude and raises her daughter Aisha to serve Rudeus.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: Her name (リーリャ riirya) can be translated as "Lilia", "Lilya", or "Lillia".
  • Irony: Lilia's Shotgun Wedding with Paul in the main story becomes ironic given that she was originally intended to be married to him when they were younger in Paul Gaiden.
  • Karma Houdini: Due to Rudeus claiming that Paul assaulted her when it's revealed she's pregnant to direct Zenith's anger at him, her seduction of Paul is never revealed and she receives no comeuppance for it. This is a rare positive example, however, since the only possible punishment she could have received at the time, being kicked out of the house and forced to go elsewhere, could have ended in her or her child dying.
  • Master Swordsman: Subverted. Despite training in the same dojo with Paul in their youth, Mushoku Tensei: Paul Gaiden reveals that Lilia's swordsmanship in the Water God Style is only up to Intermediate-ranked despite years of hard work. Also deconstructed as her lack of talent in swordsmanship plays into her Career-Ending Injury as a Ninja Maid.
  • Meido: Her occupation and position at the start of the main story. She was once more of a Ninja Maid, but a poison dagger to the leg put a swift end to that.
  • The Mistress: Lilia ends up seducing Paul, who was already married to Zenith, and gets pregnant with his child. She was ready to get kicked out of the house for it, but Rudeus convinced Zenith to forgive Lilia and let her stay as a true member of the family.
  • Moment of Weakness: After several years of hearing Paul and Zenith banging every damn night in the room next to her, Lilia gave in to her lust and seduced Paul while Zenith was pregnant. She immediately regrets it as she almost gets kicked out of the house while pregnant if it wasn't for Rudeus convincing Zenith to let Lilia stay.
  • Ninja Maid: Before the start of the main story, she worked for the Asura palace as a "royal guardsmaid", an attendant who will protect her master with a sword in times of danger. However, despite learning swordsmanship, she herself notes she had no special fighting talent and was hired as a disposable Human Shield, and her mediocre fighting abilities ultimately cost her the job.
  • Rape as Backstory: Paul was expelled from their dojo after forcefully taking her virginity. She brushed it off because 'Paul's not a bad guy', and in hindsight, decided her first time was better off with him rather than any of the fat depraved nobles in the palace she used to work at. It also helps that Paul Gaiden reveals that they gradually bonded during Paul's year-long tutelage and, at the very least, Paul did felt guilty for doing the deed and having to leave abruptly without giving a proper goodbye.
  • Regretful Traitor: She's deeply remorseful about seducing Paul, knowing that act was effectively a betrayal of her employer and friend Zenith, and makes no excuses for it.
  • Resignations Not Accepted: Her previous role as royal guardsmaid entrusted her with clandestine secrets, namely the layout of the consorts' palace. It's mentioned in the web novel that the royal family could have had her executed instead of fired because she knew too much to keep alive, but she was simply fired instead.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: She sees Rudeus come out of the womb with a totally emotionless face, and initially assumes he was a stillborn. Then she concludes, after seeing his perverted behaviour, that he is possessed by a demon. As it turns out, the original Rudeus Greyrat was a stillborn, and if not for the soul of a 34-year-old otaku inhabiting the body, he would have been dead on arrival. So, he really was "possessed", in a roundabout way. Not by a demon, but by a world-weary and perverted NEET.
  • Secret-Keeper: While cleaning the house, Lilia found out that Rudeus stole Roxy's panties. Despite this, she never revealed this to his parents. This is part of the reason that Rudeus goes to bat for her when Zenith discovered her affair with Paul.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Rather than tell Sylphy where Rudeus went for his tutoring job, Lilia would tutor her in manners and etiquette so Sylphy can become a more proper lady when she meets him again.
    • A drunk Lilia actually laments why Rudeus hasn't made a move on her daughter.
  • Shotgun Wedding: She seduced Paul when he was restrained from having sex with Zenith during Norn's pregnancy. She ends up pregnant, and to not have a child out of wedlock, Paul takes her as his second wife, although Lilia still considers herself a mere maid.
  • Stoic Spectacles: Lilia is the only member of the Greyrat family who wears glasses and rarely displays any outward emotion, unlike anyone else in the family.
  • Tears of Joy: She sheds grateful tears when Rudeus convinces his parents to let her stay after her affair with Paul, and again when he rescues her and Aisha from the clutches of Pax Shirone.
  • The Tease: She jokingly offers her daughter Aisha to Rudeus after she grows up and teases him by giving him Marshmallow Hell.
  • Undying Loyalty: Out of gratitude to Rudeus, she dedicates her life and the life of her daughter to him.
  • Unwitting Pawn: To her own father in Mushoku Tensei: Paul Gaiden no less, with her being rape by Paul as part of a Batman Gambit to tie him down in an Arranged Marriage.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Subverted. In the web novel, when she sees Rudeus's perverted smile and habit of nuzzling his head into her chest as a baby, she is immediately reminded of a lecherous official from the palace and wants to throw him into the floor on instinct out of sheer disgust. But she never goes through with it.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After her injury, she had to leave quickly to avoid being silenced.

    Norn

Norn Greyrat

Voiced by: Saya Aizawa (JP), Bryn Apprill (EN) Foreign VAs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/norn_anime.png

Rudeus' younger sister by Zenith.

  • Always Someone Better: The crux of Norn's childhood issues. While both of her siblings are bona fide geniuses and child prodigies, Norn is only an average child. This was further exacerbated by Zenith's family, who constantly put down Norn because she couldn't out perform what they saw as an "illegitimate child".
  • Ancestral Weapon: After her father's death, she inherits Paul's sword, and it is now a wall decoration in her bedroom.
  • Bodyguard Crush: During Ruijierd's mission to safely escort Norn and Aisha to Sharia City to live with Rudeus, it's obvious she's nursing a small infatuation. The first time Norn ever had a commonality with her brother is their admiration for the Superd warrior.
  • Cool Aunt: She acts as an older sister figure to Rudeus's children who are also her nieces and nephews. It helps she isn't that much older than them.
  • Cry into Chest: When she briefly becomes a Hikikomori, Rudeus goes to her room to try and talk to her. Once Norn finally accepts that Rudeus isn't the abusive person she thought him to be, she ends up hugging him and crying into his chest.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She's very clumsy, especially compared to her siblings. It's acknowledged In-Universe, where she even gets a fan club because of it.
  • Daddy's Girl: Due to circumstances, she ends up really attached to her father as she spends a good part of her formative years raised by him alone.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Norn gradually warms up towards her brother once she and Aisha start living at Sharia City, and Rudeus looks out for their well-being.
  • Don't Call Me "Sir": When the two of them are working on a joint project Rudy assigned to them, Norn's rather embarrassed when Julie calls her sensei.
  • Freudian Excuse: Rudeus was shipped off to start working for Boreas family a year after she was born and then the teleportation incident caused her entire family to be divided. Because of this, Norn's very first impression of Rudeus was seeing him beat up their father. From her perspective, Rudeus was a major cause of Paul's grief, so she spends a good deal of her early childhood resenting him.
  • Hate at First Sight: Norn's first impression of Rudeus was walking in on her brother punching their father. Norn didn't know Paul was the one who started the fight and the two guys do make-up soon after, but that was enough to make Norn hate Rudeus for years. Rudeus' genius making her feel small only makes matters worse. After hearing others praise his good deeds, she starts to question her initial view of him and they eventually reconcile.
  • Hikikomori: Shortly after enrolling at Ranoa Magic Academy, Norn shuts herself in her room for a while after she feels she can't endure the pressure of being compared to Rudeus by her classmates and teachers. Seeing his past life's situation reflected in Norn, Rudeus can sympathize with her and comforts her, leading Norn to finally start opening up to him.
  • Idiot Hair: She has an ahoge, same as her mother and brother.
  • Interspecies Romance: She ends up married to Ruijerd, a Superd, in all timelines.
  • Irony: She was told by her mother that Superds were all scary but ends up falling in love and marrying one, Ruijerd, including have a child with him.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: With Ruijierd. As a Superd, he has a much longer lifespan than Norn's and he's over 500 years older than her, yet they end up married in all timelines.
  • Middle Child Syndrome: Her older brother Rudeus and her younger half-sister Aisha are geniuses who got praised by everyone for their accomplishments from a young age, while Norn is a normal girl in comparison. As she grew up, she was constantly frustrated by being compared to her siblings and resented them both for a large part of her childhood.
  • Minor Living Alone: After Paul sends her and Aisha to live with Rudeus and Sylphy at Sharia City, Norn can't accept this decision and asks to be allowed to live in a dorm by herself, even though she's only 10 years old at the time.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Norn is initially rather hostile to Rudeus' second wife Roxy, but eventually the two start bonding. By the time Rudeus decides to take a third wife, Norn is still unhappy about it, but is willing to let it slide as long as Rudeus can keep all his wives happy. Actually rather downplayed in it's not that Norn ever disliked Roxy and Eris themselves, but as a believer of the Milis faith, she doesn't think polygamous marriage is ok.
  • Precocious Crush: She develops a crush on the much older Ruijerd when she meets him as a preteen. She ends up marrying him when she grows up.
  • Second Love: To Ruijerd. He tragically lost his first wife Luwelia when Laplace's curse drove him to kill his own family. Norn eventually becomes his second wife and has a daughter with him.
  • Shrinking Violet: As a child, she hides behind her father when she's around strangers or people she distrusts like Rudeus.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With Aisha. Opposite to her half-sister, Norn is the shy and talentless girl who isn't fond of their older brother Rudeus.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She has feelings for Ruijerd because of his kind and protective nature. She marries him when she's an adult.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She's often mentioned to look a lot like her mother.
  • Student Council President: She eventually becomes the student council president at Ranoa Magic Academy.
  • Successful Sibling Syndrome: She just happens to have two brilliant siblings that excel at everything, causing her to develop a big inferiority complex.
  • Targeted to Hurt the Hero: Hitogami intends to harm Norn to break Rudeus after missing his only chance to kill Roxy (and Lara).
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Because the Milis religion is monogamous, Norn gets very upset with Rudeus when he admits he slept with Roxy when he was away from his wife Sylphy and is going to take Roxy as his second wife. To make it worse, Roxy looks like a preteen and Norn is outraged at the thought of Rudeus sleeping with a girl close to her age until they reveal Roxy is older than Rudeus.

    Aisha

Aisha Greyrat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aisha_anime_9.png

Rudeus' younger half-sister by Lilia.

  • Big Brother Attraction: Implied when she occasionally offers herself to Rudeus or teases him. Subverted when it is revealed that she didn't actually want this to happen, but accepted the possibility as part of her role as a maid.
  • Big Brother Worship: After she sees how amazing her half-brother is, Aisha idolizes Rudeus for the rest of her life. Not that she can help it, he's Rudeus...
  • Blackmail: Rudeus had to allow Aisha to keep a treant as a pet lest she tells his wives about his "shrine".
  • Caring Gardener: She enjoys caring for plants and cultivates rice for Rudeus despite less favorable conditions at their home.
  • Cheerful Child: She's a bright and outgoing little girl.
  • Child Prodigy: She has been brilliant from a young age. She was even offered a scholarship to the Magic Academy at age 10 for her academic skills alone, but she chooses to stay as Rudeus' maid.
  • Cool Aunt: Like Norn, Aisha acts as an older sister figure to the children of her half-brother Rudeus. It helps that she, like Norn, isn't that much older than them.
  • Cute Little Fangs: She's drawn with little fangs that make her look more adorable.
  • Deliberately Cute Child: Her mother Lilia taught her that she should act cute if she wants men to do what she wants.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: She looks more like her mother, but has the same green eyes as her father and half-siblings.
  • Fluffy Tamer: Manages to domesticate a baby treant, which is now treated as one of the Greyrat household pets.
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: Lilia raised Aisha to be a maid rather than a daughter of the Greyrat household, so she was educated to always speak very formally, even when addressing her siblings.
  • Girl Friday: She eventually becomes Rudeus' aide at Rudeus' Mercenary Company.
  • Good with Numbers: Proves to be excellent at math, going along with her other excellent managerial skills.
  • Half-Sibling Angst: She has a massive inferiority complex from being the daughter of Paul's mistress/second wife and thinks Paul doesn't care about her as much as Zenith's children. Just like with Norn, this was exacerbated by being forced to stay with Zenith's family, as Zenith's mother refused to recognize Norn as a legitimate child, and only considered Lilia to be a mistress or concubine, not a second wife. As such, they constantly demeaned Aisha, despite her obvious intelligence. Another unlikely source of angst was Aisha's own mother, Lilia. Lilia refused to see herself as Paul's wife, and only saw herself as a maid in the household. She passed on this mentality to her daughter, and raised her daughter to only see herself as a servant to her brother Rudeus, even to the point of mentally preparing her to sleep with Rudeus, should he request it. This would have devastating affects on Aisha's psychological development culminating in her beginning a sexual relationship with Rudeus's son Ars when was not yet 10 years old (this happens in a short story that is still officially canon, but has, as of now, been removed from publication, pending a rewrite). Aisha ultimately realized she was wrong in doing this after running away with the boy, and when Rudeus caught up with him, she even demanded that he kill her for defiling his son. Rudeus of course couldn't do this, as he saw Aisha as his sister, and even wondered why she felt this way. It wasn't until Lilia brought Rudeus a knife, threatening to kill Aisha herself that Rudeus understood the gravity of Aisha's issues, and finally put Lilia straight that she, and Aisha by extension, were part of the family. After Aisha married Ars when he grew up, she hung up her maid uniform for good, signifying that she was truly part of the family, and not merely a concubine's daughter.
  • Meido: Although she's Paul's child too, her mother raised her as a maid so she could serve Rudeus.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With Norn. Opposite to her half-sister, Aisha is the cheerful and talented girl who adores their older brother Rudeus.
  • Targeted to Hurt the Hero: Like Norn, Aisha is eventually targeted by Hitogami, who intends to harm Rudeus' sisters to break him after missing his only chance to kill Roxy (and Lara).

Boreas Household

    Ghyslaine

Ghyslaine Dedoldia

Voiced by: Megumi Toyoguchi (JP), Rachel Robinson (EN) Foreign VAs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ghislaine_dedoldia_anime.png

A female beastkin who became a retainer in the Boreas Greyrat House and former member of the Fangs of the Black Wolf.

  • Amazonian Beauty: Ghyslaine is pretty easy on the eyes, and her musculature is so toned that Rudeus compared the feel of her butt to a rock.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Due to her wild behavior in her youth, her older brother Gyes viewed Ghyslaine as a nuisance for everyone in the beast tribe. He finds it hard to believe Rudeus and Eris when they talk about the respectable person Ghyslaine is now, as she's nothing like the savage sister he knew.
  • Barbarian Longhair: Her long, mane-like hair is one of her Amazonian Beauty qualities.
  • Big Sister Mentor: She's a swordsmanship teacher to Eris who looks up to her as a big sister figure.
  • Born Lucky: She has the ability pick the correct answer out of two choices consistently, despite being weak in analysis.
  • Cat Girl: She's a feline beastkin, complete with cat ears and a tail.
  • Dumb Muscle: She's an accomplished swordswoman, but as Paul says, a total musclebrain. It is a testament to how good Rudeus is at teaching that he successfully teaches her and Eris reading and magic.
  • Former Teen Rebel: Ghyslaine used to be a Wild Child who was deemed a disgrace by her hometown because she acted like a violent beast more than any of them. Her brother is shocked to hear that his sister grew up to be a Sword King and a highly respected mentor to Eris.
  • Inhuman Eye Concealers: She wears an eyepatch over her right eye to hide her Demon Eye.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With Rudeus and especially Eris. She originally worked at the Boreas household to teach swordsmanship to the two children and became a good friend to both of them during that time. After Eris leaves Rudeus to improve her swordsmanship, Ghyslaine stays with her as her closest friend.
  • Lightning Bruiser: She raced across the rooftops of the town, shattered a sword thrown at Rudeus and Eris in midair, and decapitated their attackers with enough force to cause a shockwave that tore up the stone road around them and with enough speed that exceeded the speed of light. Yes, she struck faster-than-light, as the LN testifies with her sword technique description, and the Anime's visuals showing her seemingly breaking the light color barrier.
  • Magical Eye: She has a Demon Eye that allows her to see the flow of mana.
  • Master Swordsman: She holds the title of Sword King and instructs Eris and Rudeus on the sword.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She sports an impressive amazonian physique, which is exposed by her revealing outfit.
  • Never Learned to Read: She's illiterate and bad at mathematics until Rudeus teaches her. In her adventuring days, she couldn't read maps or realize when she was being cheated. These sorts of stories help motivate Eris to also learn to read.
  • Revenge: She joins Princess Ariel's entourage in her return to Asura Kingdom in order to seek out those who ordered Sauros' execution.
  • Rugged Scar: She has several major scars from her battles in her youth as an adventurer, in particular a large one on her stomach.
  • Sacrificed Basic Skill for Awesome Training: She's a Master Swordsman who lacks basic skills such as reading and arithmetic. Deconstructed in that she struggles to survive without those basic skills after parting ways with her companions.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Rudeus asked her to show him the base of her tail as a joke. He was surprised that she doesn't hesitate to take her pants off in front of him.
  • Shipper on Deck: During their reunion, Ghyslaine clearly saw how much Rudeus and Eris grew closer together that she objects to Eris' decision to just leave him behind. Eris tells her to just drop the subject.
  • Too Desperate to Be Picky: After her party split up, Ghyslaine had no idea of how to use money and starved for days. She ended up so hungry that she ate monster excrement in desperation, which only made her sicker.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: She never wears shirts. The upper half of her outfit only consists of two straps over her breasts.
  • Wild Child: According to her brother, young Ghyslaine behaved like a wild animal and didn't even learn how to speak, making her more like a beast than anyone in her beastmen tribe. After being trained by a swordsman and spending time as a member of the Fangs of the Black Wolf, Ghyslaine learned to act like a civilized person.

    Philip

Philip Boreas Greyrat

Voiced by: Daisuke Ono (JP), Anthony Bowling (EN) Foreign VAs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/philip_boreas_anime.jpg

Paul's distant cousin and Eris' father.

  • Brainy Brunette: His hair is brown, and he's a capable schemer in politics.
  • Eyes Always Shut: He keeps his eyes closed most of the time. It fits with his gentlemanly and scheming demeanor.
  • Killed Offscreen: During the Mana Catastrophe, he and his wife Hilda were teleported to a dangerous place. Ghyslaine was teleported there too, but only managed to find them after both were killed.
  • Like Parent, Unlike Child: He's soft-spoken, courteous, and polite. Practically the opposite of Eris and his own father Sauros.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: In the anime, he has a ponytail hanging over his shoulder and is certainly good-looking.
  • Manipulative Bastard: While Philip comes off as a nice if a slightly condescending guy, he shows how manipulative he can be when he uses his own daughter's virginity as a bargaining chip to recruit Rudeus for his coup attempt.
  • Race Fetish: Philip has a sexual attraction to Little Bit Beastly women. His father and daughter share his fetish.
  • Shipper with an Agenda: He wants Rudeus to marry Eris and take over the Boreas house because he knows a prodigy like Rudeus will be a good asset in the rebellion he and Sauros are planning against the Notos house.

    Hilda

Hilda Boreas Greyrat

Voiced by: Ryōka Yuzuki (JP), Samantha Herek (EN), Yesica González (LA)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hilda_boreas_anime.jpg

Philip's wife and Eris' mother.

  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Rudeus got nothing but cold glares from Hilda for the three years of his stay at the Boreas house. At his tenth birthday party, she suddenly warmed up to him and wanted him to be her son-in-law.
  • Freudian Excuse: She treated Rudeus coldly, making him think she hated him for no reason. Philip then explained that Hilda was bitter about having Paul's son coming to their house and freely going around as if it was his home, even though Hilda can't see her own sons after they were taken away by the Greyrat main house. On his tenth birthday, Hilda finally accepted that Rudeus is a good boy and wanted him to be her son.
  • Killed Offscreen: During the Mana Catastrophe, Hilda and Philip were teleported to a dangerous place. Ghyslaine was teleported there too, but only managed to find them after both were killed.
  • Marshmallow Hell: She hugs Rudeus to her boobs at his tenth birthday party.
  • Perpetual Frowner: In the three years he lived with the Boreas, Rudeus never saw Hilda smile and she only gave him disdainful frowns whenever she looked his way.
  • Shipper on Deck: As soon as she accepted Rudeus, she asked him to marry Eris.

    Sauros

Sauros Boreas Greyrat

Voiced by: Binbin Takaoka (JP), Brian Mathis (EN) Foreign VAs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sauros_boreas_anime.png

Eris' grandfather, Philip's father, and the Hot-Blooded head of the Boreas house.

  • Cool Old Guy: He's a reasonable yet still hot-tempered old guy who makes Rudeus feel welcome at the Boreas house.
  • Face Death with Dignity: As he calmly awaits his death, Sauros's last thoughts are of wishing for his granddaughter's happiness.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: His red, flared-up Tsurime Eyes and eyebrows carried over to his granddaughter Eris.
  • It Runs in the Family: Seeing Eris and Sauros, being loud and Hot-Blooded clearly runs through the Boreas family.
  • Like a Son to Me: According to some Asura nobles, a drunk Sauros at one point proudly bragged about Rudeus' achievements like he was his own son.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: His hot-bloodedness must have skipped a generation with Philip.
  • No Indoor Voice: Eris picked up the bad habit of screaming everything she says from her grandfather.
  • Off with His Head!: He's sentenced to death and decapitated.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He has a stern and intimidating frown as his default look.
  • Race Fetish: Why is it that the Boreas house only has Little Bit Beastly women for maids? Because Sauros is very into them. Rudeus even catches him having sex with a Cat Girl maid.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite his temper, he agrees with Rudeus that just ordering him to teach Eris magic would just spoil her and loudly demands that she ask him herself.
  • The Scapegoat: As governor of the Fittoa territory which was hit hardest by the Mana Catastrophe, Minister Darius forces him to take responsibility for the calamity and has him executed.
  • Shared Family Quirks: After meeting Sauros, Rudeus deduces where Sauros' granddaughter Eris got her behavior from. Once she's older, Eris also develops Sauros' fetish for beast girls.
  • The Unapologetic: Rudeus guesses that Eris never apologizes for punching him because Sauros doesn't apologize for punching his own son.

    Philip and Hilda's two sons

Philip and Hilda's two sons

The two sons of Philip and Hilda Boreas Greyrat, Eris' brothers, and Sauros' grandsons. They were taken away from the Boreas household by the main Greyrat family prior to Rudeus' arrival.

  • The Ghost: They were mentioned by Philip, but they don't appear in the series.
  • No Name Given: Nothing is known about them, not even their names.
  • Unknown Relative: They were taken away by relatives after Philip lost a family power struggle. Eris never got to know her brothers and Rudeus only knows about them thanks to Philip mentioning them.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: They were mentioned by Philip to be the reason why his wife gives the cold shoulder to Rudeus throughout the years, but are no longer mentioned, nor do they make any appearances afterward.

Latreia Household

    Carlyle

Carlyle Latreia

The Head of the Latreia House and Battalion Commander of the Order of the Temple's Sword Group.

  • Henpecked Husband: Compared to his wife's personality, it's clear who really wears the pants in their dynamic.
  • Took the Wife's Name: He was born Carlyle Granz and took on the Latreia surname when he married Claire because she belongs to a noble family.

    Claire

Claire Latreia

The matriarch of the Latreia Household. She is the mother of Zenith and the maternal grandmother of Rudeus and Norn.

  • Death Glare: Her eyes are often shown to be a glare.
  • Fantastic Racism: Her household supports the Demon Race Expulsion Faction. Though she later changed sides to the Demon Race Acceptance Faction.
  • Gruesome Grandparent: Her grandchildren, Rudeus and Norn, take a quick dislike to her because she openly hates their father Paul, and insults him through them.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's grumpy, stuck-up, and hard-headed, but she actually cares a great deal about her family and is more than willing to do anything to help them. That being said...
    • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: She was nothing but a bitch to Lilia and Aisha when they stayed with them, and was barely better to Norn. She scores no points with Rudeus either, such that he was prepared to believe the worst about her when she masterminded Zenith's kidnapping to sell her into sex slavery in an effort to cure her the downsides of being a Miko under the mistaken belief that her problems were the result of curse similar to Elinalise's, who needs to have sex to manage it, not cure it. It took a slap from a normally comatose Zenith to make Rudeus listen to her side of the story, after which he corrected her on her mistaken reasoning.
  • My Beloved Smother: She loves her family, but her high expectations and stubbornness have a habit of driving her children away.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Unsurprisingly, she hates her son-in-law, Paul, seeing him as a lowly adventurer and womanizer.
  • Parental Hypocrisy: Somewhat downplayed. She's highly disappointed in Zenith and Therese for their independence in their career choices (i.e. adventurer and knight respectively) instead of becoming refined noblewomen and marrying into high-ranking families. Which is a little ironic considering her own high position in her household.
  • The Unapologetic: Even when she realizes she has done something wrong, her pride and stubbornness prevent her from apologizing. At the very least, she won't make the same mistake twice.
  • Why Couldn't You Be Different?: She's highly disappointed in Zenith and Therese for choosing to become an adventurer and knight respectively, as she wanted them to become refined noblewomen and marry into high-ranking families.

    Therese

Therese Latreia

Voiced by: Hisako Kanemoto (JP), Molly Searcy (EN) Foreign VAs

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/therese_latreia.png

The fourth daughter of the Latreia Household. She is Zenith's younger sister and Rudeus' aunt. She is also the Company Commander of the Order of the Temple's Anastasia Keep, the protector of the Miko of Memory.

  • Cool Aunt: She often plays the role of a doting aunt towards Rudeus.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She makes a brief appearance in the first OVA, where Eris saves her and the Miko from a group of kidnappers.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: Rudeus got her confused with his mother on their first meeting until he notices that Therese's hair and the position of her mole is different from Zenith.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She has a striking resemblance to her sister Zenith.

Spoiler Characters

The Future Generation

    Lucy

Lucy Greyrat

Rudeus and Sylphy's first child, and the firstborn in the family.

    Lara

Lara Greyrat

Rudeus and Roxy's daughter.
  • Ancestral Weapon: She inherits Rudeus' magic staff, the Aqua Heartia/Arrogant Water Dragon King.
  • The Chosen One: She's the destined savior that the Doldia Tribe were waiting for. In other timelines where she wasn't born, however, it was someone else.
  • Curtains Match the Window: She has blue hair and eyes, just like her mother.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: Leo, the Big Friendly Dog Sacred Beast of the Doldia Tribe, is especially attached to her. This is the sign that Lara is The Chosen One.
  • Human-Demon Hybrid: She's human on her father's side and Migurdian demon on her mother's side.
  • Identical Twin ID Tag: A rare parent-child example. Lara looks so identical to her mother Roxy that she ties her hair into a single braid to differentiate herself from her mother, who has two braids.
  • The Quiet One: She almost doesn't speak due to her telepathy.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks nearly identical to her mother and grandmother.
  • Telepathy: Unlike her mother, Lara did inherit the Migurdian race's telepathic ability.

    Ars

Ars Greyrat

Rudeus and Eris' son.
  • Absurdly Youthful Mother: Gender inverted. Ars became a father before he turned 10
  • Chick Magnet: He's considered a very attractive young man when he's grown up, and the desire of many young girls. Looks like looks weren't the only thing he inherited from Paul.
  • Does Not Like Men: As a baby, he cries when picked up by a man.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: He inherited his father's green eyes.
  • Identical Grandson: He looks like a dead ringer for his grandfather Paul, but with bright red, wavy hair he got from Eris' side.
    * Jailbait Wait: Averted to a horrible degree and played for drama when Ars gets his Aunt Aisha pregnant at only nine years old, as revealed in a short story that is currently unpublished, but still canon, as the events mentioned in it (such as Ars marrying Aisha) are still mentioned in other stories. This had dramatic consequences social and political consequences, mainly for Ars. This was later played straight, after the fact, as Ars had to grow up and mature before he could formally marry Aisha.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Named after an In-Universe story hero.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: He's Rudeus' first son, and inherited his father's green eyes and his mother's red hair.

    Sieghart

Sieghart "Sieg" Saladin Greyrat

Rudeus and Sylphy's son and second child.
  • Curtains Match the Window: He has his father's green eyes and his hair is green too, like his mother's originally was.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: Like his half-brother, Sieghart got Rudeus' green eyes.
  • Future Badass: He eventually ranks 5th of the Seven World Powers.
  • Heinz Hybrid: 1/8th elf from his mother's side who also has Beast race ancestry.
  • Hero of Another Story: Of the side-story, Mushoku Tensei – Jobless Oblige.
  • Hero-Worshipper: He admired the superheroes in the stories told by his father and wanted to become one himself.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: Unlike his full sister, Sieghart did inherit Sylphy's original green hair color, thus giving him a resemblance to the Demon God Laplace.
  • Master Swordsman: Trained from a young age by North God Kalman III and even becomes the next Death God after Randolph Marianne.
  • Pointy Ears: Like his mother and older full sister, Sieghart has pointy ears because of his elf heritage.
  • Shared Unusual Trait: His hair is green like what his mother's used to be. This raises a concern that he'll be bullied for his hair like she was. Rudeus worries he might be Laplace's reincarnation and would have to fight Perugius to protect him.

    Lily

Lily Greyrat

Roxy and Rudeus' second daughter.

    Christina

Christina Greyrat

Eris and Rudeus' daughter and second child.
