    Eloise

Eloise

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elose.jpg
"I inherited this immense manor from my parents. I had no knowledge of its existence. Barely having set foot in this place, I already felt watched and observed… What is going on here?"

  • Ambiguously Human: She stated that she never felt like she belonged to the human world, even before being turned into a "chalice" by one of the vampires, a status that makes things even more complicated.
  • Born in the Wrong Century: She can feel like this if you choose.
  • Brutal Honesty: Doesn't mince her words.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Her Curse That Cures, as stated bellow, has some downsides, but comes with supernatural powers that she develops over time.
  • Curse That Cures: Survived falling from the second floor by being turned into a chalice by one of the vampires. That basically means that she became his personal blood bank.
  • Dance of Romance: That was the first big bonding moment of romantic bonding in Vladimir's route, was even featured in the illustration.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She can be it or not, depending on the answers chosen. But she also says that her sharp tongue got her a lot of trouble while she lived in the orphanage.
Vladimir: By the way, if I find out that a single flowers has been damaged, or a shrub trampled, or the slightest branch broken, I will know who is to blame. Do I make myself clear?
Eloise: Very well, Master. Mighty weeder of the garden and undisputed lord of the hollyhock.
  • Destination Defenestration: Ivan's courtesy. She almost dies and this triggers the whole plot.
  • Emergency Transformation: After being thrown from the second floor the vampires had to save her life by transforming her into a chalice, since she was too weak to survive beint transformed into a vampire.
  • The Empath: This comes in her "chalice superpowers" package.
  • First-Episode Resurrection: Dies in the introduction chapter, but is brought back as a chalice by the vampire she choses.
  • First-Person Smartass: Although you can control almost all of Eloises's responses to people and some of the actions she takes, the one thing the player can't control is her thoughts, and she tends to be snarky in her narration of the facts.
  • Girly Bruiser: Justified. Having being raised in an orphanage where fights could turn pretty physical and having to go alone into the Village, she had to learn how to defend herself.
  • Good Thing You Can Heal: Constantly gets hurt and, as a chalice, is constantly being bitten by a vampire. The good thing about being a chalice is that she can heal as fast as a vampire.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: Her brown hair looks almost purple with blue reflexes.
  • Healing Factor: Heals as fast as a vampire, which is very convenient considering how much she gets bitten.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: Her "default/canon" name is Eloise, but you can put any in that you like.
  • I Can't Dance: Says this in various routes, but does very well shortly after.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: Beats Beliath in darts by hitting the bullseye every single time.
Beliath: Okay, now I have to ask a question. Did I unearth the little-known champion of darts? Were you locked up in a basement for years and trained to stand up to Chinese pros? Because, if not, it's witchcraft.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Her choices lead to different outcomes, and bad choices can bring her great misfortune.
  • Liquid Courage: What she was trying to pull before confronting Beliath in the fourth chapter of his route.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: With the vampires, depending on the answers chosen.
  • Mindlink Mates: With Beliath, on his route.
  • Naïve Newcomer: The game starts with her being Welcomed to the Masquerade.
  • Ojou Ringlets: She has two curled locks of hair draping the sides of her face and is the rightful owner of the manor.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her parents died not long after her birth and she grew up in an orphanage.
  • Peggy Sue: The player can replay the chapters to get different outcomes of the ones experienced before.
  • Player Character: You make her story.
  • The Power of Blood: The most experienced chalices can manipulate blood and kill their opponents through it.
  • Prone to Sunburn: After becoming Vladimir's chalice, she started getting more and more sensitive to sunlight with time.
  • Relative Error:
    • She was right to assume that Vladimir's flowers symbolized his relationship to a woman... but she didn't think that this woman could be his mother.
    • Leandra and Beliath gave her enough reasons to doubt that they are brother and sister, to be fair.
  • Sensor Character: Can sense vampires' auras and also use this ability to recognize ones she previously met.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: Looks can be deceiving. She is strong-willed and can fight if necessary.
  • Welcomed to the Masquerade: The price she had to pay to survive.

The Six Vampires

    General
  • The Ageless: Most of them have been around for centuries, but can still be killed.
  • Blessed with Suck: Immortality, but that comes with thirst for blood and fatal sunlight allergy.
  • Crush Blush: Vampires or not, they still blush because of Eloise. Let's try to not overthink about how it is possible.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The whole point of the introduction was illustrating each one of the vampire's personalities.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Some more than the others, but Vladimir states that they are more harmless and civilized than the average.
  • Healing Factor: Downplayed. They can't work miracles if their injuries are too serious or if they were inflicted by another vampire's bite, but they heal a lot faster than humans.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Some of them have this kind of relationship, considering that they were born in different centuries.
  • Kiss of the Vampire: When the victim doesn't impose resistance and is calm.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: They do this to their victims.
  • Mr. Exposition: All of them can be this, as long as the player does the right questions.
  • Oh, Crap!: They have this moment when they see Eloise as a soon-to-be corpse. She had documents with her that proved that people knew where she went and would notice her disappearance, and the police would knock their door sooner or later.
  • Older Than They Look: Except Ivan, who was turned vampire recently and really is the age he seems to be.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: A given.
  • Pretty Freeloaders: Until Eloise's arrival, they were actually living illegally in the manor.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Again excluding Ivan, they are all at least a few centuries old, some older than the others.
  • Romantic Vampire Boy: They are the dateable characters of an otome game. Though you can make a case that the majority of them aren't all that ''romantic'", per se.
  • Stealth Expert: They can be extremely silent and hard to notice.
  • Super-Senses
    • Super-Hearing: Raphael is the one that makes most use of it, but all of them have very impressive hearing. It also seems to be their favored sense.
    • The Nose Knows: Their sense of smell is also sharp, specially to detect blood.
  • Vampire Dance: It's not hard to guess which kinds of dance each one prefers.
  • Weakened by the Light: Sunlight burns them, and minimal exposition is enough to make them feel sick. It can be fatal.

    Vladimir

Vladimir

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vlad_7.png
The Melancholic
"Vladimir, the authority figure, is one of the first vampires to have arrived to the manor. His authoritarian and taciturn personality makes him difficult to approach."
— From his description in the game's site.

  • Affectionate Nickname: "Vlad", depending on who calls him that.
  • After-Action Patch-Up: The first time he and Eloise kissed was when she helped him with his wounds after his fight with Neil.
  • Any Last Words?: Asked this to Neil, after cornering him in the library.
  • Bandage Wince: Neil injured him so badly that he couldn't hide that he was in a lot of pain while Eloise was patching him up.
  • Berserk Button: May God protect the poor soul that messed up "his" garden.
  • Blatant Lies: Kept Eloise's letter after her fall "so it wouldn't get damaged".
  • Bookworm: Enjoys reading, collecting books and spends a lot of time in his "research", whatever may this mean.
  • Caring Gardener: Highly treasures "his" garden, and puts a lot of effort in it.
  • Classy Cane: And will threaten you with it if you piss him off.
  • Creature of Habit: He gets in a bad mood when something changes his routine, but, as Raphael stated, he nonetheless took the other vampires under his wing when they arrived, one after the other. He just needs some time to get used to the new situation.
  • Dance of Romance: The first big romantic bonding moment between him and Eloise was dancing in the party threw by Beliath.
  • The Dandy: Have you seen his hair? How many bottles of L'Oreal do you think he uses per week?
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: Considering his age, it's not a surprise that they are dead, but he remembers them fondly and misses them a lot. He even keeps the garden in the memory of his mother memory. Talking about family is an important bonding moment between him and Eloise.
  • Defrosting Ice King: The main challenge of his route is doing this to him.
  • Disinherited Child: Even though his parents really did love him, they couldn't ignore that he was incapable of taking on the family business, leading them to have more children to fulfill this role.
  • Dream-Crushing Handicap: Was the only son of a wealthy family of industrialists and worked really hard to take on the business, but his Soap Opera Disease made this an impossible dream.
  • Driven to Suicide: In the neutral and bad endings. He always felt that the realm of the night was like a prison, and always hated being a vampire. The guilt over Aaron's death and the reflection caused by Neil's last words were his last straws.
  • Dying Declaration of Love: Neutral ending, before committing suicide:
Vladimir: Goodbye, my love. Never stop smiling.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Beliath calls him "Princess". Needless to say that it doesn't amuse him.
  • Frozen Fashion Sense: He dresses like that since he can't go outside anyway.
  • Gentleman Snarker: As sharp-tongued as Eloise, which leads to some clashes.
  • Goodbye, Cruel World!: Bad ending. He leaves a bouquet of flowers with his suicide note to Eloise while she sleeps, and then goes outside to be burnt by the sun.
  • High-Class Gloves: To complete his victorian look.
  • Idiot Ball: He keeps an ancient vampire hidden in the basement, feeding it from time to time, and couldn't put two and two together when they started being attacked by an ancient vampire that appeared out of nowhere and always disappeared without leaving any tracks.
  • Inadequate Inheritor: Was trying to cure his handicap to be a good heir, but became a vampire instead, which dropped his chances to zero.
  • Long Haired Prettyboy: Enhances his delicate appearance.
  • The Leader: Was the first to have arrived to the manor and is responsible for managing everything. Some of the other vampires complain about it, but deep down they know that Vladimir's presence is vital for their stability and that he does his best.
  • Meaningful Name: All the meanings of Vladimir are related to being a ruler or person of great power.
  • Moonburn: Played for Drama. After becoming a vampire, his sunlight allergy extended to moonlight. He can die if he goes out when the moon is out.
  • Oddly Visible Eyebrows: A way of making his facial expressions clearer while keeping the bangs.
  • Prone to Sunburn: He was allergic to sunlight as a human.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Ties his hair with a ribbon and enjoys gardening.
  • Soap Opera Disease: Surprisingly, he isn't only a chronic snob, he also suffers from a chronic, plot-convenient disease that used make him "allergic" to sunlight. He then thought that he became allergic to moonlight after becoming a vampire, but it was psychosomatic and he got better in the good ending.
  • Stages of Monster Grief: Went through this in the past. He eventually left his family because of his new condition.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: It took a long time for Eloise to see the good aspects of his character.
  • Unnamed Parent: The first of the vampires to mention his family, but doesn't tell us their names.
  • Wounded Hero, Weaker Helper: Was in a terrible shape after fighting Neil, and was barely able to climb the stairs to his room even with Eloise's help. She also had to treat his injuries, as he was too weak to do it himself.

    Beliath

Beliath

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/beliath.png
The Charmer
"An epicurean charmer, Beliath fully embraces the nighttime world. He doesn't seem to be attached to anything or anyone, despite his large number of conquests."
— From his description in the game's site.

  • Aerith and Bob: Eloise, Vladimir, Ivan, Aaron, Ethan, Raphael... and Beliath. It may be related to his demoniac origins, though his sister has a perfectly common, sensible human name.
  • Big Little Brother: The difference in height between him and his older sister is ridiculous, even considering that women are usually smaller.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: He was raised as a demon, so, naturally, his set of morals used to be completely alien to vampires and humans. Learning their morality was one of the biggest reasons for him to deciding to move into the manor.
  • Break Her Heart to Save Her: Downplayed. He can't have a relationship with Eloise to protect her from Leandra.
  • Brutal Honesty: Seems to do this deliberately.
  • The Casanova: The most famous one in the Village. Is dangerously going out of new "prey".
  • Commitment Issues: Had sex with almost every girl in the Village, but was raised to don't commit himself to anyone.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He and Leandra posed as much threat to Neil as ragdolls, and took the beating of their lives.
  • Disappeared Dad: He thought that his father had simply abandoned him, but he was actually killed by Asmodee after conceiving Beliath.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: Hid and loathed his vampire side for a long time because os this, but is getting better now and learning to accept himself.
  • Half-Sibling Angst: His sister care for him, that much is clear, but he grew up loathing being a child of a vampire father.
  • Happily Failed Suicide: After being Mistaken for Cheating by Eloise, he realized that, more than not being interested in any blood that isn't hers, he really liked her. Since she was mad with his behavior and avoiding him and he was being overwhelmed by feelings he wasn't supposed to have, he took the dramatic choice of starving himself to death. Fortunately, Eloise intervened, they confessed their feelings and started going steady.
  • Hybrid Power: Has characteristics of both vampires and demons, but tended to ignore his vampire side in the past.
  • The Gadfly: Lives to press people's buttons, specially Vladimir's.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: His black hair looks almost purple.
  • Light Is Not Good: Eloise even notes how, while being bitten by him in the first chapter of his route, the moonlight reflecting in his completely white clothes made the situation even more frightening.
  • Matricide: After trying to off both of her offspring, Asmodee really deserved that.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: Even after starting a solid relationship with Eloise, she sees him with other women. It turns out that he does this so Leandra won't notice that he holds serious feelings for Eloise.
  • Nonhuman Humanoid Hybrid: Was born from a succubus mother and a vampire father, having never been human.
  • The Nicknamer: Suddenly goes deaf whenever someone tells him their name. The nicknames he gives people range from embarrassing to cheesy.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Even though his hair looks purple, Eloise describes it as black.
  • Relative Error: Eloise, having been given enough reasons to do so, thought that he was cheating on her with Leandra.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Knows Leandra since he was born, and they share a lot of behavioral tropes.
  • Tall Darkand Handsome: The second tallest vampire, with long black hair and ivory skin to top.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: In more serious moments, he refrains from using nicknames.
  • Wine Is Classy: Usually elegantly drinks some in the scenes in which he needs to be portrayed as a respectable gentleman.

    Ivan

Ivan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ivan_55.png
The Bloodthirsty
"Ivan is the youngest vampire in the manor and he is unable to get used to his new condition. He seems particularly aggressive and thirsty for blood."
— From his description in the game's site.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest vampire. The others are aware of his difficulties and that he needs a lot of looking after.
  • Black Cloak
  • Curtains Match the Window: Blond hair and golden eyes.
  • Horror Hunger: The only vampire that can't control his.
  • I Am a Monster: As if his self-loathing wasn't bad enough before, it gets worse after almost killing Eloise.
  • Moment of Weakness: He tries to warn Eloise that she must flee from the manor as soon as possible, but ends up succumbing to his thirst and attacking her. They engage in a physical fight that ends with her being defenestrated.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: His reaction after defenestrating Eloise.
  • Stages of Monster Grief: Going through some really bad shit since he became a vampire.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Not only the youngest of the vampires, but also the smallest.

    Aaron

Aaron

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aaron_21.png
The Loner
"Aaron is a very particular and special vampire, who doesn't like to confide in others. Although not the most unpleasant member of the group, Aaron is quite mysterious."
— From his description in the game's site.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He knows how to be a Nice Guy, and also how to don't.
  • The Big Guy: Is the oldest, tallest and strongest in the group. Was a mercenary during the Hundred Years' War and admits that his style of fighting is "busting spines".
  • Brutal Honesty: Doesn't seem do this deliberately and usually shocks other people. Eloise remarks in various instances how he doesn't mince his words and they sometimes can feel like a punch in the gut.
  • Covered with Scars: His arms are covered with various small scars.
  • Gentle Giant: Is both The Big Guy and a Nice Guy.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: That's what he gets for trying to make out with Leandra in Eloise's room.
  • Nature Lover: Enjoys being outdoors and it is where he is usually found.
  • Nice Guy: He and Raphael are very kind to Eloise from the start and try to make her feel welcome and as comfortable as possible with her new situation.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Lents Eloise a book he likes, with his favorite parts highlighted and written commentaries. He is specially enthusiastic about very violent fights with gory amputations.
  • The Older Immortal: Became a vampire in the 15th century and is the oldest of the group.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Is a very good fencer, but no match for Raphael. But he also admits that he finds the sport ridiculous and not his style.

    Ethan

Ethan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ethan_9.png
The Wild Card
"Ethan is an embittered vampire, with an aversion for humans. However, a much deeper pain is hiding underneath this layer of hate."
— From his description in the game's site.

    Raphael

Raphael

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/raphael_7.png
The Idealist
"An accomplished artist, Raphael looks for perfection in all that he takes on. A dreamer by nature, this vampire knows how hideous the world can be."
— From his description in the game's site.

  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: Raphael Sanzio became a vampire.
  • Blind Weaponmaster: He doesn't carry that rapier everywhere only because it looks good. He is a very good fencer.
  • Bookworm: Fact that makes Eloise very confused at first, considering that the books in the library aren't in braille, but it is clarified that he has his own ones.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It is stated by his description in the site that he "know how hideous the world can be", but, so far, we don't know exactly what happened.
  • Frozen Fashion Sense: This is shared by him and Vladimir.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: His black hair looks blue.
  • High-Class Gloves: Probably not very practical for a blind person, but, hey, style is more important.
  • Historical Domain Character: Among other "coincidences", he told Eloise that he was born in Urbino and that he spent some years in Florence when he was in his twenties, leaving little doubt that he is Raphael Sanzio.
  • Meaningful Name: Archangel Raphael is known as the patron angel of the blind.
  • Nice Guy: He and Aaron are very kind to Eloise from the start and try to make her feel welcome and as comfortable as possible with her new situation.
  • Oddly Visible Eyebrows: A strange example. His eyebrows are drawn over the blindfold.
  • The Perfectionist
  • Royal Rapier: He is an accomplished artist that used to be close to the highest sphere in Italy, and carries a fancy rapier.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: He doesn't do it on purpose, but the heart attack he almost caused in Eloise with this got closer to killing her than falling from the second floor.

Neil

  • Hidden Villain

Neil: I tried to take my life back by taking the lives of others. And I failed. I'm ready to pay the price. At least this way I will be free again. Even though it's not the kind of freedom I imagined.
  • I Just Want to Be Free: Was kept in captivity by Eloise's parents for years, at first being used as a test subject for a cure for blood diseases, and to the key for immortality afterwards. • Big Sister Instinct: Succubi aren't supposed to have feelings, but it's clear that she loves her brother a lot and wants the best for him, even though her concept of best is a bit twisted. She even willingly put her life on the line for his sake.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Completely expected, considering her nature.
  • Brutal Honesty: Exactly like her brother. What a complicated family!
  • Bullying the Disabled: It doesn't matter that Beliath won't let her "approach" Raphael, she makes it clear that she doesn't want to anyway...
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She surely won't forget so soon the beating she took from Neil, but she at least managed to save Beliath's life.
  • Depraved Bisexual: Probably like every other succubus in existence.
  • The Gadfly: The vampires have a hard time tolerating her presence and antics, that range from "accidentally" using the wrong bathroom to others that Eloise preferred to don't hear about to preserve her sanity, make it look like she is more interested in bothering the vampires than in seducing them. It has the opposite effect on Ethan, though.
  • Good Wings, Evil Wings
  • Half-Breed Discrimination: It's clear that her brother means a lot to her, but she still thinks that his vampire side "should disappear".

  • Likes Older Men: As interested in the "little runts" as she is in the "blind guy".
  • Master of Illusion: One of her succubus powers. She uses it mainly to hide her demoniac characteristics from humans.
  • Matricide: Asmodee deserved that.
  • The Nicknamer: Again, like her brother. Unless the situation is extremely serious, she won't call people by their names.

  • Evil Matriarch: Succubi aren't supposed to have feelings, including towards their offspring, but her actions go beyond cruelty and selfishness. She chose Beliath's father and killed him after succeeding on getting pregnant, harvesting on his power. When he was old enough, she let him go to live with humans so he could build his power for her to harvest when at his strongest.
