Protagonists
Princess Micaiah
Voiced by: Sayuri Maebara
The owner of a grand mansion, a graceful young lady with psychic powers who created a safe haven for people after the world has been overrun by "Things". All the people in the castle recognise her as their saviour.
- The Ace: Regarded as this for her magical abilities, which help to protect her and the rest of her servants from the Things. She's considered a lovely, polite, and generous girl. The only thing she can't do is harm another person with her powers, which both works against her and in her favor...
- Ax-Crazy: ...because it keeps her from letting this side of herself out. Though her being this trope is mostly implied as of yet.
- Berserk Button: Her reaction when Lenine questions how someone who sleeps as much as she does isn't incredibly fat is something to behold.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: For a silly, slightly airheaded princess, she is pretty good at what she does.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Occasionally.
- Cute and Psycho: The scene where she kills several Things in anger even though they can't really hurt her really hits this aspect of her personality home.
- Dissonant Serenity: She smiles gracefully when she massacres the Things that killed her friends.
- The Ojou
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: In Chapter 2, she kills many Things as revenge for Sylvia.
- Rose-Haired Sweetie
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Micaiah can't hurt another person, but the Things look sufficiently non-human for her to massacre several of them out of rage. The narrative portrays her lack of concern as being particularly disturbing.
- White-Haired Pretty Girl: Has mystical whitish purple hair, and psychic powers.
Lenine
Voiced by: Shaun Sills
Princess Micaiah's personal attendant, a serious young man who contrasts her aloof, floaty attitude. While he can be deadpan at times, he very much values Micaiah and is extremely loyal to her.
- Deadpan Snarker
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Has a (downplayed) moment of this in one of his flashbacks involving Euphy. When she expresses pity for him because he's an orphan, his response is that it feels a bit like an insult.
- Servile Snarker: Albeit far more snarky to the other servants than he is to the Princess, but he still has elements of this.
- Surrounded by Idiots: When Micaiah goes into his room in Chapter 2 and reads one of his journal entries, he directly refers to the incompetence of the other castle servants as the reason he's Micaiah's right-hand man. Her amused reaction implies that she agrees, of course.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: While he isn't particularly dangerous, if you ever threaten Micaiah, he will swear to end you.
- Waistcoat of Style: Wears a cool black waistcoat.
Mika Himeya
Voiced by: Sayuri Maebara
Mika is a young girl who has been captured by the Corrupt Church for her powers. Because of it, she has become very resentful and bitter.
- Break the Cutie: Leading to...
- Broken Ace: Somewhat. She was regarded by the other members of her village as the Goddess incarnate because she could use her magic powers to heal villagers. She only became broken after the villagers discovered she wasn't as much of an Ace as they thought.
- Cherry Blossom Girl: At least, in the past, before she got kidnapped by the Church. She used to wear pink and purple, her name means "truthful flower", she has healing powers, loves Dynasty, and is a borderline Yamato Nadeshiko.
- Crime of Self-Defense: She was arrested by the Church after killing Lady Tamora, who tried to strangle her in a fit of jealousy. Nobody believes her due to the brutal way she killed her and Tamora being a Villain with Good Publicity.
- Playing with Fire: She sets things on fire quite frequently in Chapter 3, including two books, two doors, and an entire corridor.
- Precocious Crush: Had one on Dynasty before things went to hell.
Main Characters
Fleur
Voiced by: Skyler Davenport
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: She is obsessed with potions, experiments, and blowing things up. This is Played for Laughs.
- Curtains Match the Window
- French Maid: More of the cute variety rather than sexy.
- Genki Girl
Rainer
Voiced by: Kim Morton
- Plucky Comic Relief
- Manchild: Seriously, which 20-year-old tries to chomp on a piece of plastic fruit?
Rothwell (Mysterious Boy)
- Cheerful Child: At least, before his father was brutally murdered.
- Break the Cutie: The Church killing his father led him to become lost and depressed.
- Last-Name Basis: Only his last name (Rothwell) is known as of yet. This has led to speculation that he is actually a younger Lenine, and that his full name is Lenine Rothwell.
Side Characters
Dynasty Salvador
A priest that visited Mika's village years ago in order to meet a "mysterious girl across the ocean, with special powers", believing her to be the reincanartion of the Goddess. A book in Lenine's room reveals he's the Cardinal that imprisoned Mika after he murdered his wife, Tamora.- Affectionate Nickname: Mika calls him "Dai".
- Ambiguous Situation: It's unknown if he was genuinely nice to Mika before she killed Tamora in self-defense or if he was a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing trying to earn Mika's trust.
- Black-and-White Morality: Is extremely self-righteous, and sees the people as either automatically good or automatically evil. As the Cardinal years later, it devolves into Black-and-White Insanity.
- King Incognito: Despite being a high-ranked priest, he infiltrated Mika's village in order to find out if she's the reincarnation of the Goddess.
- The Fundamentalist: Is very pious and obsessed with the Goddess.
- Mistaken for Pedophile: Tsukino seems to suspect he is getting close to Mika because of this.
- Nice Guy: A very kind and friendly young man and easily befriends Mika and the other villagers. Even those who were wary about his arrival quickly warm up to him and he shows great concern and care for Mika, even after she fails to cure the plague in her village. At least until she kills his wife.
- Redhead In Green
- Significant Green-Eyed Redhead
- Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Claims he's on the run because Tamora poisoned him after he rejected her affections. In truth, they're married and he's playing King Incognito in Mika's village.
Priestess Tamora Salvador
Voiced by: Marissa Lenti
The Cardinal's wife, who is visiting the village to get Dynasty back to the Church.- Alas, Poor Villain: Even though she was irredeemably evil and she got a gruesome death, beneath it all she was just a bitter woman who couldn't bear to be separated from her husband. Even Mika expresses regret after killing her (and possibly finding out what was Tamora's relationship to Dynasty offscreen).
- Awful Truth: When Mika tells her the lies that Dynasty has been saying about her, her sanity breaks down and tries to strangle Mika.
- Bullying a Dragon: She soon finds out that messing with Mika was a very, very bad idea.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Doesn't like that Dynasty spends his time researching and praying to the Godess than with her.
- Jerkass: A narcissistic, spiteful woman who's too overconfident for her own good.
- Jerkass Has a Point: With the reveal that Dynasty is her husband, she had very good motives to be so insistent about him returning home.
- Misplaced Retribution: Isn't happy that Dynasty left his home and the church to play King Incognito in a village. But instead of being angry at him, she's angry at Mika for straying him out of his duties.
- Mrs. Robinson: Tried to seduce Dynasty despite being married. Then again, Dynasty is her husband and it's implied he said that to earn Mika's sympathy.
- My Beloved Smother: She seems to be one to her son, Castor, where she makes him follow her whims.
- Plot-Triggering Death: Her death results in Mika being imprisoned by the Church and being cursed with the "divine punishment".
- Posthumous Character: Was killed by Mika before the game began.
- Rich Bitch: It's stated a few times that her husband is very rich and this is why she's used to getting her way.
- The Sociopath: It's implied that the plague that hit Mika's village was somehow engineered by her. If true, that would mean that she sacrificed many innocent people just so that Dynasty wouldn't believe in Mika's divine gift anymore and would return back to the Church.
- Villain with Good Publicity: The Church saw her as a pious woman who heroically died after trying to take down Mika. Yeah, her.
- Villainous Breakdown: Completely loses her composure after Mika tells her that Dynasty said she poisoned him, entering a spiral of rage and denial as she tries to strangle Mika.
- Yandere: Dynasty claims she poisoned him and ruined his reputation, out of spite for rejecting her affections. Then again, it's implied it was a lie to get Mika's sympathy, as Tamora is his wife and is rather apalled Dynasty said such things.
Castor Salvador
Tamora's teenage son, who appears as an adult in the introduction sequence, supervising an execution.- Last-Second Word Swap: Does this when Mika asks him where his mother is. With Dynasty going King Incognito at Mika's village, it seemed he was about to say "Dad", before quickly correcting himself.I don't know. Probably talking to D... Dynasty.
- Mama's Boy: Mika accuses him of being this.
Raquel
- Badass in a Nice Suit: She is the only character to wear a suit, and she takes no nonsense from anyone, not even Castor.
Euphony "Euphy"
A little girl whom a young Lenine once helped get home. They became fast friends after. Euphy is five years younger than Lenine.- Cannot Tell a Lie: Her attempts to tell lies are hilarious, like telling Lenine that her kindergarten friends are busy at their part-time jobs.
- Significant Green-Eyed Redhead
The Church
Anyu
A mysterious cloaked figure who enters the castle one day, who claims to be the Messiah.- Big Bad: Of Micaiah's chapters.
- In the Hood
- Playing with Fire: Anyu's main powers are centered around setting just about everything on fire. They corner Micaiah this way in Chapter 2.
- Obviously Evil
Dynasty Salvador (The Cardinal)
The leader of the Church who held Mika captive.- Big Bad: Of Mika's chapters.
- Black-and-White Morality: Is extremely self-righteous, and sees people as automatically good or automatically evil. Such as killing Rothwell for trying to release the captive Mika.Relax, my friends. You don't have to fight against me. No matter what kind of devilish nonsense your boss has been telling you... we are the good guys.
- The Fundamentalist: Is extremely pious and obsessed with the Goddess.
- Jerkass: Due to his raving fundamentalism and petty nature.
- Moral Myopia: He wants to punish and torture Mika for killing his wife, seemingly ignoring that she killed Tamora in self-defense.
- Sadist: Wants to make Mika suffer for killing his wife, Lady Tamora.
- Tautological Templar: Believes he can do no wrong as he is doing everything for the sake of the Goddess.
- You Killed My Father: Or rather, "You Killed My Wife". He's very sadistic towards Mika as retribution for killing his wife.
