Heroes

    Corleo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/corleo.png
The main protagonist of the story and Persimott's current Hero.
  • Animal Motifs: Lions. His blonde hair and yellow eyes resembles that of a lion's mane and eyes. The chapter 2 cover page has him posing in front of an image of a lion, and Chapter 4 is titled "The Lion Bravely Stands". Lions also symbolize things like courage, strength and valor, all fitting for the kind of Hero Corleo wants to be. In a flashback, Mamama explains that the "leo" part of Corleo's name means lion in the region she was born in.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: Freaks Elysia out when they first meet because he simply isn't used to being around girls thanks to his sheltered upbringing. They quickly get on better terms afterward, thankfully.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Discussed. As the current Hero, Corleo constantly feels a nagging sense that he needs to do something to prove himself and help others like the three Heroes before him. But in the current era of peace, Corleo has no outlet to be helpful to others despite the expectations his title puts on him. This makes him feel like a fraud unworthy of his name until other Heroes and Demon Lords start coming from other worlds.
  • Combo Platter Powers: Corleo possesses a "Mother Sigil", referring to sigil sorceries inherited in the womb, passed down to him from Evan. Given that sigils tend to be more powerful the earlier they are inherited, this combined with his own sigil inherited at two months old, means Corleo has enormous potential. On top of this, he develops multiple sigil sorceries at once rather than specializing in one. So far he has demonstrated the ability to heal himself, produce fire, levitate, and create Razor Wind attacks.
  • The Everyman: Corleo grew up in an era of peace and is thus not used to the more dangerous and lethal situations other heroes and demon lords often find themselves in, so he comes across much more like your average Joe. His desire to grow beyond his usual, boring self starts his coming-of-age journey into becoming a dependable, reliable hero.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Corleo is a golden-haired young man who naturally cares for and tries to protect others. He sacrifices his own life to save Evan without hesitation even after Evan explained his plan to murder Corleo a few minutes before.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Gets cut in half by Demon Lord End after pushing Evan out of the way. He gets better, though.
  • Healing Factor: Much like how Evan pieced Corleo back together, Corleo can use his sigil sorcery to rapidly heal his wounds. Bruises and scrapes vanish in seconds while he's fighting Escaba.
  • The Hero: Presumably most heroes across the multiverse qualify, but Corleo's desire to become a hero instead of drift aimlessly through life drives the story.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Due to living in a time of peace, Corleo has never needed to learn to fight or use his powers. He fumbles with his sigil sorcery early on as he starts learning about it, accidentally throwing himself into the ceiling of a train when he activates his levitation powers for the first time. This issue is compounded by his lack of fighting experience.
  • Legacy Character: Corleo is the fourth of a line of Heroes who fought in the Hero-Demon War and the first to be born into a time of peace after Halohalo died to end said war.
  • Momma's Boy: He's been sheltered his entire life by Mamama, who feared that he'd turn out like his predecessor and her lover, Halohalo. Her constant attempts to keep Corleo out of danger and trouble suppressed any dreams and ambition, leaving him drifting and aimless in the present until his near-death experience inspires him to try and become a proper Hero.
  • The Poorly Chosen One: Corleo feels that he's worthless as a Hero who doesn't do anything. He was an orphaned infant when he inherited his sorcery sigil. He has been sheltered as a Momma's Boy his entire life and lacks any ambition to drive him toward great things. By the time he's eighteen, he feels like a fraud without a purpose and sometimes wishes he'd never been born. He only realizes just how much he wants to be a proper Hero at the moment of his death, leaving Evan speechless. Corleo's sacrifice reminds Evan of what a Hero truly is, convincing Evan to sacrifice his life to revive Corleo and give him his sigil.
  • Power Copying: Inherited from Evan, and in addition to the things Evan had, Corleo adds Grisha's warping power and Kuptula's own sorcery to his arsenal. He loses it and the powers that came with when he gives Evan's sigil to End.
  • Power Floats: One of the powers received from Evan allows him to float, though he doesn't have very good control over it.
  • Razor Wind: Corleo imitates Evan by making a slicing motion with two fingers, causing a gust of wind to slice anything along the path he cut with his fingers. This attack is sharp enough to cleanly cut through Ralfred's sword and the wall behind it.
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: Corleo realizes at the moment of his death that he's only ever wanted to be a Hero who could help others. He's kind, a bit socially awkward, and wants to be a strong Hero capable of helping others and living up to his title.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: His goal is to put an end to the era of demon-hero strife. He prefers not to kill any demon lords or heroes.
  • Unique Protagonist Asset: After inheriting Evan's sigil, Corleo begins developing Combo Platter Powers unlike any of the other Heroes and Demon Lords seen in the series. Others are shown to be focused in one area, such as Elysia's Super-Strength or Minerva's Confusion Fu. Corleo demonstrates levitation, healing, Razor Wind, and the abiltiy to emit flames, with the implication that he'll be able to use as many powers as Evan and then some. According to Ralfred, this is because Corleo inherited his sigil at such an early age, making it a Mother Sigil capable of extraordinary power. On top of this, Sadico believes that he has another soul entangled with his.

    Evan All Green
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/evan_3.png
The first hero from another world that Corleo encounters. He's cold and stoic, because of the condition his world is in.
  • Power Copying: The true power of Evan's mother sigil, allowing him to weild multiple powers at once.
  • Power Floats: One of his sigil powers allowed him to float in mid-air, which he passed down to Corleo.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: His demise at the end of the first chapter transfers his powers to Corleo and triggers the main conflict.
  • Razor Wind: Demonstrates the ability to cut things with a simple gesture, cutting a tree into a pair of practice swords for him and Corleo.
  • Sacrificial Revival Spell: Is able to heal Corleo after he's cut in half by End, at the cost of his own life.
  • Teleportation: One of his abilities allows him to teleport himself and others, such as when he took Corleo to the woods for a private talk away from his prison cell.

    Elysia Wool Pool
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elysia.png
Another hero who joins Corleo's group. She's rather shy and reserved, but possesses tremendous strength.
  • Crush Blush: Sports this after Corleo saves her for the first time, hinting that she may be developing feelings for him.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Born in an era where Demonkind was in power, Elysia inherited her sigil at the age of nine. Not wanting to be targeted by Kuptula for harboring the Hero, Elysia and her mother Alyasia were exiled from their village and spent the next ten years on the run until Alyasia suffered a terrible wound and Elysia was forced to leave her behind at her mother's behest.
  • Identical Stranger: Except for hair color, she is the spitting image of Princess Wulvida from the world of Escaba and Ralfred.
  • Nice Girl: Once Corleo clears things up with her after initially freaking her out with his nervous behavior, she shows she's an unfailingly sweet and kind-hearted girl.
  • Super-Strength: Her Sigil Sorcery, Fortify Force, allows her to increase her strength to the point that she can crater the ground with a single blow.

    Ralfred Honneamise Wing
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ralfred.png
An Idiot Hero who Corleo's group was sent to find after a series of dine-and-dashs. Back on his home world he was a knight serving under his princess, Wulvida, before she was betrayed and killed by Escaba, her own younger brother while trying to forge a peace treaty. Thus, he has sworn to kill any Demon Lords he comes across.

    Sadico
The Hero from Monika's world, who took up residence at an amusement park haunted house while causing some trouble for her own amusement.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sadico.png

  • Failure Hero: It’s implied she’s deeply regretful of how she treated the Demon Lords of her world, choosing to take the easy way out of the demon-human conflict instead of trying to reform the Demon Lord.
  • Meaningful Name: Sadico seeming comes from a combination of Sadist, relating to her enjoyment of messing with others for her own amusement and Sadako, the cursed spirit from The Ring, relating to her power over spirits.
  • Soul Power: Her Sigil grants her power over spirits. So far she's shown the power to imbue objects with spirits to create poltergeists and was able to see that Corleo had multiple souls inside him.
  • Older Than They Look: By Monika's account, she should be over 60 years old, and yet she looks like she's about Elysia's age.

    Halohalo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_03_24_191150.png
Corleo's predecessor who sacrificed his life in order to establish peace between humans and demons.
  • Eyes Out of Sight: To the point that whenever he's not looking away or his hair isn't covering them already, the borders of the panels will extend to cover them instead.
  • Reality Warper: His sigil sorcery, Remarkable Reshape, allows him to alter or delete things however he pleases.

Demon Lords

    Mamama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mamama.png
Corleo's adoptive mother, and Persimott's current Demon Lord. She was acquainted with the previous Hero, Halohalo.
  • Artificial Limbs: After having her sigil hand bitten off by Grisha's monsters, she seems to have gotten a metal replacement.
  • My Beloved Smother: She's incredibly overprotective of Corleo, unaware of how it had affected him until they got into an argument.
  • Older Than They Look: 38 years old, despite looking more like a child.

    End
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_03_24_192217.png
Click here to see End's true form
The Demon Lord from Evan's world, who pursued Evan into Persimott and is incredibly obsessed with him.
  • Body Horror: It's appearance is a grotesque ball of arms, hands, eyes and other facial features.
  • Necromancer: It's Sigil Sorcery, Corpse Conclave, makes anything related to death possible as stated by Grisha.
  • Not Quite Dead: Mostly destroyed by Evan but part of it which is it's Sigil is now part of Grisha and seems to still have a will of its' own.
  • Villainous Crush: It has an obsession with Evan and is helping Grisha so that it can see him again. In the Volume 1 extra pages, it's likes are listed as Evan, dislikes as everything but Evan's motives, and motives as similar to that of Yubel from Yu-Gi-Oh GX.

    Escaba Dapp Mistrea
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/escaba.png
Another Demon Lord, introduced to Corleo and Elysia as a member of their team, though he soon shows his true colors as an agent of Grisha.
  • Casting a Shadow: His sigil sorcery, Shadow Swimmer, lets him add mass to his shadow and use it to attack or grab things.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: his left eye has been burnt away, likely thanks to Ralfred, leaving nothing but a shriveled scar.
  • Sibling Murder: In his world, claiming it was the influence of his Sigil, he killed his older sister Princess Wulvida.

    Minerva Highlight Star
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minerva_65.png
A Demon Lord Idol Star, from a world where humanity was wiped out 1000 years ago. In her world, being an idol also includes fighting one another as a part of the job.
  • Draw Aggro: Her Sigil Sorcery, Twinkle Twinkle Star, produces stars that forcefully pull attention towards them, allowing her to throw attacks off course.
  • Idol Singer: One part of her idol job is to sing.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Her primary motivation. She briefly found it in her idol job, but after losing fans following a single loss, she realized that their adoration was only superficial. It plays a part in her falling for Corleo, who risks everything to save her from Ralfred because she genuinely gives him hope.
  • Shipper on Deck: She seems pretty supportive of Elysia getting with Corleo, even advising they split up so that Elysia and Corleo can be by themselves.

    Kuptula
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuptula.png
The Demon Lord from Elysia's world.
  • An Ice Person: Her Sigil Sorcery, Hellacious Hardhail, allows her to create and manipulate ice.
  • Reflexive Response: During her battle with Corleo and Elysia, she reflexively creates several walls of ice in front of her as a form of defense. They use this against her by attacking her from above, where she wouldn't be protected.
  • Seeks Another's Resurrection: She allies herself with Grisha so that once he gets what he wants, he'll bring someone close to her back to life, that being her son.

    Monika
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/monika_20.png
A young Demon Lord who Corleo convinces to join his side after she's left behind following a surpise attack on the Central Army base.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: Her Sigil Sorcery, Mythic Mammal Morph, allows her to turn parts of her body into those of animals, like turning her arms into wings.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: On her world, Demon Lords are all executed before the age of ten, something Sadico does not let her forget.

    Bento Box Demon Lord
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2024_04_08_100651.png
A Demon Lord working for Grisha.
  • Super-Speed: What his Sigil Sorcery grants him going by the name, Boosting Super-Speed Ship.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Bento Boxes. He always has one when he appears, though he always ends up dropping it once he has to fight.

Allies

    Pannelo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pannelo.png
The former Demon Lord Army Commander, and current Demon-Hero Central Army General. He acts as a mentor for Corleo.
  • Badass Normal: Has no Sigil Sorcery like the Heroes and Demon Lords, but his skills are more than enough to frighten Grisha into retreating after trying to swarm him with a group of monsters. Even when Grisha brought him back to his home base, he was able to cut down over half of Grisha's stock of monsters before he was sent back, with only minor injuries.

Enemies

    Grisha
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/grisha_mamayuyu.jpg

A mysterious individual who appears after Escaba launches a surprise attack on Corleo and Elysia, expressing a desire to absorb every sigil he can possibly get his hands on.

  • Big Bad: Presented as such, making it clear his long-term goal for the characters to grow stronger is purely for his own benefit, and isn't above killing people he deems useless for his plans.
  • Evil Counterpart: States he is an "imitation" like Corleo, except while Evan gifted his powers to Corleo so he could survive and carry on his will, Grisha is very transparent about stealing sigils for his own use, and to what end is yet to be revealed.
  • Evil Makes You Ugly: How else would you describe grafting sigils onto your face so you look like you have the appearance of a boiled egg?
  • Expy: His faceless appearance, penchant for dapper clothing, boisterous personality, and plan to acquire other people's abilities for his own recall All For One, one of the main antagonists of My Hero Academia.
  • The Faceless: He grafted the Demon Lord End's demon sorcery sigil onto his own face, while leaving the lower half unaffected. The sigil itself acts like a freely swiveling, singular eye, giving him a thoroughly unnerving appearance. After Corleo knocks End off of Grisha's head, we see that he literally doesn't have an upper face, as there is nothing but a hollow pit there instead.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Presents himself as Affably Evil, but it becomes clear from his dialogue he merely sees Corleo and the other heroes and demon lords as EXP sponges for their sigils he hopes to acquire at a later date when they're stronger.
  • I Need You Stronger: Debates taking Corleo's sigil at the start of the series, but then decides it'd be more productive to wait and let him strengthen it before he steals it for himself.
  • Power Parasite: How he acquires his abilities. He grafted End's sigil onto his face in order to utilize his sorcery, and intends to collect even more to grow stronger.
  • Practically Joker: His overly-jovial demeanor and unsettling Slasher Smile make him come off rather similar to the Clown Prince of Crime.
  • Slasher Smile: Grins wide even when speaking about killing people with evident, malicious glee. The only time he isn't smiling during his introductory chapters is when Corleo threatens to cut off the sigil he desperately wants for himself.
