Characters introduced in Pixie and Brutus will appear on that character page.

Lola

A dog who lives with Mr. Wrinkles. Not very smart, but friendly.

  • All Dogs Are Purebred: According to the artist, Lola is a Labrador.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Lola is typically a sweet, yet dim dog. However, there are some times where she proves herself to be a threat if you upset her or her friends. In one comic where a rabbit decides to kick a pinecone at Pixie, Lola is right there with Brutus, Mr. Wrinkles, and several other animals to intimidate the rabbit into apologizing to Pixie.
  • Bullying a Dragon: She thought pranking Brutus by hosing him while he was napping was a good idea. He pranked her right back by tying her to a tree with that very hose..and she's lucky that's all he did.
  • Dogs Are Dumb: Unlike Brutus, she plays this straight. She thinks holding a few sticks and having a flower pot on her head equals having a good hiding spot. She is however at least smarter than Hugo.
  • Dumb Blond: Of a sort, being a light-furred dog who's also a little on the ditzy side.
  • Female Feline, Male Mutt: Inverted - she's a female dog usually paired with a male cat, her fellow pet.
  • Nice Girl: She's the first to try and welcome Brutus to the neighborhood, even if she is initially put off by his appearance. She's equally friendly (and even more energetic) when Dexter moves in.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: With Mr. Wrinkles. They're always together (because they're both pets in the same house) but they're siblings rather than a romantic couple.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: The Energetic Girl to Mr. Wrinkles' Savvy Guy.
  • Super Gullible: Lola easily falls for Mr. Wrinkles saying he has a spaceship in the backyard, as she thinks his unusual appearance means he's an alien cat. She still hasn't realized it was a joke at her expense two hours later.
    • Exaggerated in "Skeleton" where she non-stop digs for 7 hours to find a T-Rex skeleton in her backyard because Brutus lied to her for her to stop annoying him.

Mr. Wrinkles

A sphynx cat who lives with Lola. Hates being mistaken for an alien.

Hugo

A large dog who's also a bit of a pushover.

  • All Dogs Are Purebred: Hugo, the dog next door, is a Saint Bernard.
  • Big Friendly Dog: Hugo, the St. Bernard next door, can readily be called upon to administer rescue hugs to a freezing person. The problem is that gentleness isn't his forte.
  • Dogs Are Dumb: Unlike Brutus, he plays this straight.
  • Extreme Doormat: Hugo is not very brave, and he allows Randal to frequently bully him. The raccoon even manages to snatch a bone directly out of his mouth without Hugo doing a thing to stop him. Brutus helps him out of this by convincing him to sit on Randal.
  • Eye Scream: One strip reveals that Hugo is missing his left eye due to an angry hen having pecked it out when he was a puppy.
  • Gentle Giant: Played With; Hugo the St. Bernard is friendly, easy to intimidate and push around, and tries to be helpful, but his lack of carefulness with his strength, especially when he's hugging another animal, can cause trouble regardless.
  • Hulk Speak: His speech patterns are this.
  • Lovable Coward: Hugo, the St. Bernard next door, has an endearing nature. He is also scared of owls, seeing them as horrific monsters, and runs away yelping when Brutus arrives while he's talking to Pixie. Randall even manages to take his bones day after day...at least before Brutus steps in.
  • Undying Loyalty: On a winter day, he stolidly waits for his owner at the bus stop until the snow covers him up.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Hugo finds birds scary, despite how much bigger he is than them. It becomes understandable when he reveals to Lola and Mr. Wrinkles that as a puppy, he wandered into a chicken coop where he had his left eye pecked out by an angry hen.
