Played By: Natalie Zea

A helicopter mom who falls into the sinkhole.

  • It's All My Fault: She blames herself for Izzy losing her leg, since she had a neighbor pick her up from school that day who got into the car accident that caused it.

    Josh Harris

Josh Harris

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_josh_harris.jpg
Played By: Jack Martin

Eve and Gavin's son.

  • Antagonistic Offspring: He has no good feelings remaining for his father, and when Eve wants to have faith in Gavin, he's quick to tell her off for it. After the portal closes, he soon becomes this to Eve too, blaming her for them being trapped now and having no issue with forcing her to leave the group. He starts to let up on this after Eve helps save Marybeth and Lucas.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's somewhat cynical and disaffected, but he's got a good heart. Up until the portal closes.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: After Diana is killed and Eve and Marybeth stop the plane from leaving before the portal closes, Josh becomes even more cynical, blaming Eve for trapping them there and saying she took the choice from them all, not caring that she was doing it to save his life. He has no hesitation in wanting to vote that Eve and Marybeth leave the group, something that Veronica is quick to call him out on.

    Ty Coleman

Ty Coleman

Played By: Chiké Okonkwo
"This place… It doesn't seem real, does it?"

A suicidal but kindhearted therapist.

  • Badass Normal: He's able to take on the various predators inhabiting the Lost World with the aid of his trusty gun.
  • Death Seeker: He nearly shoots himself shortly after the sinkhole, and is only barely talked down by Eve.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Pretty much crossed this before the sinkhole when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
  • Nice Guy: He's kindhearted and selfless to a fault, and thinks of the well-being of others before his own.
  • Secretly Dying: He doesn't talk about it, but he's slowly dying because of his brain tumor. He even admits such to Para when she sees his nose bleeding.

    Riley Velez

Riley Velez

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_riley_velez.jpg
Played By: Veronica St. Clair

Sam's daughter, and a former med student.

  • Genre Savvy: She immediately recognizes that the heroin she and Scott find is probably best left alone.
  • Properly Paranoid: Finding heroin hidden in a car makes her realize that not all of the survivors are trustworthy, and makes her somewhat paranoid.

    Sam Velez

Dr. Samuel Velez

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ulztbpfgchcztdlnnx5efn_1200_80_6.jpg
Played By: Jon Seda

A surgeon and former Navy SEAL.

  • Badass in Distress: Despite being an ex-Navy SEAL who shows the requisite skills, he gets injured early on, with the swelling caused by the wound disabling him as he's left with his legs temporarily paralyzed from it.
  • Elites Are More Glamorous: He's one of two ex-military characters, having been in the elite Navy SEALs.

    Scott Israni

Scott Israni

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_scott_israni.jpg
Played By: Rohan Mirchandaney

A sardonic, cowardly stoner.

  • Deadpan Snarker: He makes a ton of sarcastic quips about the whole situation.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: In the second episode, after saving eight camels form getting stuck in a tar pit, he starts telling Veronica that he used to work at the La Brea Tar Pits and how animals like the camels would get stuck in them all the time... before he quickly looks back at the tar pits, recalls how eight camels (the same amount he saved) were found last year, and makes the connection.
  • Genre Savvy: Immediately after the sinkhole, Scott starts theorizing about what tropes applying to the Lost World he's found himself in. He also realizes that burying a body in a stone circle in the shape of a hand is probably a bad idea.
  • Lovable Coward: He freezes up when the dire wolves attack the camp, nearly getting Riley killed, but he feels appropriately guilty and apologizes for it.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: He provides levity with his sarcastic quips and laid-back personality.
  • The Stoner: He casually admits to being one, and is shown smoking a vape pen.
  • Twofer Token Minority: Scott is an atheist of South Asian ancestry.

    Lilly Castillo

Lilly Castillo / Ella Jones

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_lily_castillo.jpg
Played By: Chloe De Los Santos (Lilly); Michelle Vergara Moore (Ella)

An apparently mute girl, Veronica's younger sister.

  • Abusive Parents: It's implied that Lilly's father was very controlling of her and her sister. To what extent hasn't been revealed.
  • Conscience Makes You Go Back: In the first-season finale, Ella decides to jump through the Seattle portal to 10,000 BC, because she remembers promising an injured Veronica that she would come back for her.
  • Obfuscating Disability: She and Veronica pretend she's mute, not having spoken for years. In reality she's capable of speech just fine.
  • The Reveal:
    • She was kidnapped by Veronica and Aaron Castillo (if that's even their real last name) from her real family sometime before the events of the show.
    • The penultimate episode of season 1 reveals that she's Ella Jones, the girl who was with Gavin when he came through the portal in 1988.

    Veronica Castillo

Veronica Castillo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_veronica_castillo.jpg
Played By: Lily Santiago

Lily's older sister.

  • Ax-Crazy: Her religious father was clearly abusive and it didn’t do her mental state any favors as she resorts to violence to preserve his ideals as well as control over Lilly. Her response to Ty trying to convince her to return was to bash him over the head.
  • Big Sister Bully: Downplayed but she's very controlling of Lilly. Subverted with the reveal she isn't even Lilly's sister, but one of her kidnappers, and was so controlling due to not wanting anyone to find out.
  • Improperly Paranoid: She doesn't trust any of the other survivors, even though doing so would drastically increase both her chances and her sister's chances of surviving.
  • The Reveal: She's not really Lilly's sister. She and Aaron kidnapped Lilly from her real family sometime before the events of the show.
  • Token Religious Teammate: She believes in God, insisting on finding her father's body (who was killed by a dire wolf in the first episode) and giving him a proper burial since she says it's what God commands. Nobody else so far expresses religious beliefs.

    Marybeth Hayes

Marybeth Hayes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_marybeth_hayes.jpg
Played By: Karina Logue

A cop and Lucas Hayes's mother.

  • Go Through Me: When facing one of Silas' men, she immediately puts herself in between him and Lucas to protect him. She's stabbed in the abdomen in the process, and while Sam tries to patch her up, she dies soon after in Lucas' arms.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: When introduced, she immediately starts hoarding food for herself, and starts childishly taunting Josh when he calls her on it, and is implied to be a Dirty Cop. As the group is forced to work together though, it's made clear she's largely just jaded, and wants to protect her son Lucas. She and Eve eventually become Fire-Forged Friends over their shared interest in protecting their sons.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Marybeth was one of the more competent members of the group once she became Fire-Forged Friends with Eve, and had no hesitation in doing whatever it took to protect her son, despite his animosity towards her. She ends up being the first major member of the group to die, not only establishing Anyone Can Die while they're trapped in the past, but robbing Lucas of the chance of repairing their relationship after the two had finally began to reconnect.
  • Sympathetic Murderer: She's killed two people for different, sympathetic reasons. The first was her ex-husband, who was abusing her and Lucas and who was planning to sell out Lucas to the police in order to get leniency. The second was Diana, as she and Eve tried to stop Diana and Levi from using the plane knowing it would crash, only for Diana to pull a gun in desperation to go home and Marybeth to shoot her after she fired first. The first was legally murder, but the second is self-defense, though many characters treat it like she murdered Diana nonetheless.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: She tells this to Lucas, wanting him to make a new life for himself rather than go back to dealing heroin. She says it though as she's dying in his arms after being stabbed protecting him.

    Lucas Hayes

Lucas Hayes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_lucas_hayes.jpg
Played By: Josh McKenzie

Marybeth's estranged son who is a heroin trafficker.

  • Antagonistic Offspring: He doesn't care for his mother and calls her a heartless murderer for killing his father, and has no issue with leading the movement to throw Eve and Marybeth out of the group. He starts to lighten up after she throws herself into danger to save him and has a heart to heart with her.
  • Broken Pedestal: Has this when Marybeth breaks it to him that his dad was going to cut a deal laying their drug operation completely at Lucas' feet, not caring if his son went to jail as long as he went free.
  • Jerkass: He is extremely short tempered and ill mannered, not to mention a drug dealer. He threatens to kill Scott for burying his heroin stash, and has no hesitation in trying to drive his mother out of the group after she accidentally killed Diana.
  • Skewed Priorities: He's more concerned with his heroin stash and yelling at his mother than he is with survival.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Following Marybeth throwing herself into danger to protect him from a collapsing shelter, he starts to lighten up and becomes more cooperative with the rest of the survivors, including slowly reconnecting with Marybeth.

    Levi Delgado

Levi Delgado

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_levi_delgado.jpg
Played By: Nicholas Gonzalez

A United States Air Force officer and old friend of the Harris family who gets stuck in the sinkhole with them after going down there in a plane.

    Billy Fisher

Billy Fisher

Played By: Stephen Lopez

A near-sighted man who lost his glasses after falling into the sinkhole.

  • The Eeyore: He's a major downer to the rest of the group, as he literally can't see any silver linings in the current situation without his glasses.

    Tony Greene

Tony Greene

Played By: Pacharo Mzembe

  • Nice Guy: His immediate response after falling in the sinkhole is to start helping fellow survivors.

Modern LA

    Gavin Harris

Gavin Harris / Isaiah

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/814c6726_4acf_44ec_9fa6_4bcde04140c1.jpeg
Played By: Eoin Macken

Eve's husband and a former USAF pilot plagued by mysterious visions.

  • Seers: At first he was convinced that his visions were just hallucinations caused by an injury. It turns out they were real however, showing him visions of the past. He's not actually a seer as it turns out. All his visions are actually memories coming back to him in real time as his younger self in the distant past lives his life.

    Izzy Harris

Izzy Harris

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/labrea_izzy_harris.jpg
Played By: Zyra Gorecki

Eve and Gavin's daughter, who lost her leg in a car accident.

  • Artificial Limbs: She uses a prosthetic leg to replace hers, which was amputated due to her injury.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: "Indecisive" more than "bratty", but still. She's not too bad, but for many episodes her use by the writers seems to be to alternate between saying "But what about Mom and Josh?" when Gavin wants to give up and "So what are we gonna do now?" when a plan falls through, and "Don't do it, I don't want to lose you too!" when Gavin attempts another plan.
  • Twofer Token Minority: Izzy's a female amputee with a prosthetic leg.

    Jessica Harris

Jessica Harris

Played By: Ione Skye

Gavin's sister and the aunt of Josh and Izzy.

    Sophia Nathan

Dr. Sophia Nathan

Played By: Virginie Laverdure

A DHS official in charge of investigating the sinkhole.
