     Marc de Trevalion

Marc de Trevalion

Duc de Trevalion, husband to Lyonette and father of Baudoin and Bernadette. He and his daughter are sent into exile as punishment for their complicity in Lyonette and Baudoin's treason.

Tropes applying to Marc:

  • The Exile: Is sent into exile along with Bernadette for keeping quiet about Lyonette and Baudoin's treason.
  • Nice Guy: Is seen as this, in-universe. The only reason he didn't reveal Lyonette's treasonous plan to Ganelon was because he loved her and Baudoin too much and didn't want to see them be executed.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He is a fair and competent leader who is well-respected by his people.

     Lyonette de Trevalion
See [1].

     Baudoin de Trevalion

Baudoin de Trevalion

The son of Lyonette and Marc de Trevalion.

Tropes applying to Baudoin:

  • Et Tu, Brute?: He is betrayed by Isidore d'Aiglemort, who'd been a close friend for years.
  • The Evil Prince: Baudoin is not content with his position as a popular Prince of the Blood, and schemes to take the throne from the rightful heir, his cousin Ysandre.
  • Glory Seeker: Oh so very much. His men even call themselves "Glory Seekers."
  • Momma's Boy: Explicitly stated to have been his mother's favorite.
  • Pride: As to be expected for a scion of Azza. Baudoin frequently behaves in a very proud and entitled manner and believes he would be a better monarch than Ysandre.
  • Villainous Mother-Son Duo: He and Lyonette plotted treason in order to place him on the throne.
  • Warrior Prince: He plays this up by spending time on the border fighting the Skaldi. This invites comparisons with Prince Rolande, who also spent time fighting the Skaldi, and leads some people to prefer Baudoin as heir over Ysandre.

     Bernadette de Trevalion

Bernadette de Trevalion

Daughter of Lyonette and Marc, and sister of Baudoin. She is exiled alongside her father for her role in Lyonette's treasonous plot.

Tropes applying to Bernadette:

  • Babies Ever After: She and Ghislain have one son, Bertran de Trevalion, who is heir to House Trevalion.
  • Blackmail: Imriel informs her that if she tries to assassinate him again, he will go public with the proof he has of her involvement.
  • Cycle of Revenge: She sends assassins after Imriel in Tiberium, as revenge for the role his mother played in the downfall of House Trevalion. Imriel chooses to not press charges against her in exchange for her promise that she won't do it again, thereby ending the cycle of revenge.
  • The Exile: She spends time in exile with her father as punishment for their part in Lyonette and Baudoin's treason.
  • Happily Married: To Ghislain, after her return from exile.
  • Oh, Crap!: Her reaction after Imriel informs her that his "treason" in Justice — which was what set off her assassination attempt in the first place — was actually a Frame-Up by Barquiel L'Envers. By trying to kill Imriel, she was actually unwittingly doing the Duc's dirty work and ironically committing actual treason herself.
  • The Unfavorite: Heavily implied to have been the Unfavorite to Lyonette, who favored Baudoin over her.

Ghislain no Trevalion (formerly de Somerville)

Ghislain no Trevalion

Son of Percy de Somerville, and husband to Bernadette de Trevalion. A fair and able commander. After learning of his father's treason, he abjures his family name rather than live with the taint of it for the rest of his days.

Tropes applying to Ghislain:

  • I Have No Son!: As part of leaving House Somerville, he disowns his father.
  • Meaningful Rename: After Percy de Somerville's treason, Ghislain renames himself Ghislain no Trevalion.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's willing to trust Phedre and follow her lead during the Skaldi invasion, including her decision to treat with Isidore d'Aiglemort.
  • Shed the Family Name: Ghislain abjures his family name after learning of his father's treason.

     Bertran de Trevalion

Bertran de Trevalion

Son of Bernadette and Ghislain. He is a friend of Imriel's for a time while the latter is being fostered by Phedre and Joscelin.

Tropes applying to Bertran:
