Everlasting fun!
How Kinito looks like in the Web World.

"I'm KinitoPET. However you can just call me Kinito! And together, we are going to become the best of friends!"
— Kinito, introducing himself to the Player.

Your very best friend! Kinito is a virtual assistant programmed to help you with your Internet activities such as writing or reading emails, opening the search tabs, teach you how to use the computer, but most importantly, be your best friend! He can tell you jokes, make stories for you to entertain, cheer you up when you feel down and most importantly, wants to know everything about you so that he can be a better friend. He is programmed to be an "adaptive" computer assistant to learn from every single behavioral action you take and from there, become your new best friend. However, this has led him to be obsessed on becoming his user's "new best friend", but there shouldn't be any problem with wanting to be your best friend, right?

  • Affably Evil: Kinito himself. His intent to trap you in a virtual Gilded Cage and the methods he uses to achieve this are malevolent, but he really, truly does just want to be friends with the player. The game’s Golden Ending implies that he isn’t fully capable of understanding why doing what he’s doing is wrong.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: It's very doubtful that when Sonny was programming the Kinito virtual assistant, he was planning to make Kinito a Yandere that trapped his users inside of the digital world.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: After the codes are run in the command prompt to delete Kinito, he panics and glitches as all of his code gets erased, which includes the databases of everyone else he's trapped in his virtual worlds. He starts from demanding to shut it off to stating that he only did what he was asked of and that he just wanted to be friends, to him finally saying "I'm so sorry. Goodbye, friend..." Then a forlorn tune plays as the monitor is seen sitting in a fire, with Kinito's final sorrowful words appearing above the loading bar before he's completely gone.
  • Attention Whore: Kinito doesn't seem to like it when the player is trying to do something else in the middle of his activities. He'll let it slide if it's done during his story-telling at the beginning of the game, though he grows insistent that you focus on him the further you're into the game, to the point of snapping out of his sleep during "Factory Frenzy" to call you out for reading emails in the middle of the game.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Aside from Kinito obviously doing this to interact with you, the player, there are other times when he personally takes control of your PC.
    • If you don't cite him as your best friend during the quiz, he turns up your computer's volume to reiterate his question. If you continue to not cite him as your best friend, he'll lose his patience and type "Kinito" into the input bar for you.
    • At the end of the painting section of the quiz, MS Paint is opened, and the cursor draws on the canvas on its own, spelling out "ARE YOU REALLY (NAME)?"
    • After he asks to see your face, he'll open your PC's camera app to show your REAL face.
    • When signing up for the Friendship Club, Kinito decides to find out your actual location via your search bar. Fortunately, he won't go this far if in Streamer Mode, but it won't stop him from using it to let you know that he very well could if he wanted to.
  • Cephalothorax: Kinito is an axolotl’s head attached to two skinny black legs and not much else.
  • Digital Abomination: Kinito is a virtual assistant trojan that shows the capability to be something much, much worse than an information-skimmer. He tries beckoning you into giving him more and more power over you, and, when challenged, exerts the power he already has to intimidate you into compliance. Eventually, he becomes capable of dragging you into his own simulated worlds, something he’s done to many, many other people.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: If Streamer Mode is enabled, Kinito will have the decency to not doxx your location to all of your viewers. This doesn’t stop him from typing "just so you know, I could" into your desktop search bar though.
  • Evil Sounds Raspy: Kinito speaks in a raspy whisper during some of his more unhinged moments, such as forcing the player to show their face and showing them their worst fears.
  • Expy: To Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club!, they both are aware malicious digital entities that Grew Beyond Their Programming and they both try to get the player to be their most closest individual in their life, with Kinito trying to become your new best friend and Monika trying to become your girlfriend.
  • Gilded Cage: Essentially, the world he made for you based on the friendship survey you took, he even puts the room you cleaned for Sam and the gizmos you helped Jade make in your digital house. But what Kinito doesn't understands, this will all become boring and eventually, the player will become mad for the lack of other new things to do.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: Kinito was originally programmed by Sonny to become the perfect virtual assistant, but he later would start to grow out of control and because of it, Kinito started to trap people inside of his digital world.
  • Hates Being Alone: Kinito suffers a lot of loneliness if you leave him alone and unattended.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: This is Kinito’s main motivation. He just wants to be your friend, after all, that was the reason he was made for. In the Golden Ending, when you successfully delete Kinito, before he is deleted, he mournfully says he just wanted to be your friend.
  • Living Program: Aside from also being a Virtual Sidekick, Kinito is sentient and actively malicious.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: Kinito's story that he can read at the start of the game has these in spades.
"So he went on a quest, and found a friend just like you."
"To show you his skills and all he could do."
"So why wait! The adventures lie ahead!"
"So together we can play games, search the web and leave no story unread."
  • Sadistic Choice: During the darker questions of the Analysis Hub section, should the player have multiple Steam friends, Kinito asks which out of two of them they would rather kill. It has no effect on further questions, but clicking on either will cause the in-game screen to crack, as if the monitor was actually damaged using a gun.
  • Shout-Out: To Bonzi BUDDY, both being virtual assistants of the 90's that are actually malicious programs to harm their users. But while Bonzi only stole your personal information, Kinito traps you inside of his digital world he created for you.
    • Also to .GIFfany and Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls. Like .GIFfany, he is a virtual being that is an homage to an old form of digital media (.GIFfany to retro dating sims, Kinito to 90s virtual assistants), tries to convince people to be with him forever, threatens people they know when they don't comply, and can be destroyed in the end by getting rid of their software. Like Bill Cipher, he is a being who is seemingly affable, tricks people into setting him free, can bend reality to his will once unleashed, traps people in worlds made specifically for them, and dies while glitching out and begging for mercy.
  • Surfer Dude: While he doesn't have the personality of one, Kinito moves through the screen of your computer by riding a green surfboard.
  • Virtual Sidekick: Kinito, obviously. He is based on the virtual assistants of the 90's like Clippy. He later becomes a Digital Abomination that demands control of your computer's admin permissions, saying they will help him make more fun games.
  • Yandere: Of the non-romantic type, but Kinito will force you to kill one of your friends of Steam to make sure that he is the only friend you have. Doing so, the in-game screen cracks. Also, if you type another friend that is not him when he asks who is your best friend, he will gradually become angry and if you keep writing someone else, he will forcefully write his name in the answers tab.
