     Sonya

Sonya

Voiced by: Mutsumi Tamura (Japanese), Luci Christian (English)
A foreign assassin who transfers to the same school as Yasuna.
  • Action Girl: She is an assassin.
  • Badass Adorable: She has a rather cute and harmless appearance, but she's still a skilled assassin proficient with weapons and submission techniques.
  • The Comically Serious: Sonya tends to sound this way when talking to Yasuna and Agiri.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She's a fairly sarcastic individual. While most of her quips are directed at Yasuna, she won't hesitate to snark at Agiri's antics as well.
  • Girlish Pigtails: It's probably the most overtly feminine thing about Sonya, as otherwise she's rather cold and eschews most feminine hobbies or pastimes.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: She has a very short fuse; anyone (mostly Yasuna) attempting to annoy her is usually viciously attacked or put into a submission hold.
  • Jerkass: She is quite aloof and doesn't seem to have any other friends besides Yasuna, who she often treats coldly, and Agiri.
  • Little Miss Badass: Looks relatively young and is a skilled assassin.
  • Little Miss Snarker: Sonya ends up doing this a lot towards Yasuna.
  • No Full Name Given: Typical of foreigners in manga, she is only ever presented as "Sonya" and is never given a last name.
  • Non-Specifically Foreign: Her nationality hasn't been stated, though based on her name and appearance many fans believe her to be Russian.
  • Not So Above It All: She sometimes gets caught up in Yasuna's antics, much to her dismay.
  • Not So Stoic: While she maintains a serious attitude most of the time, she's still bewildered by the supernatural and doesn't react well to animal wildlife.
  • Perpetual Frowner: She rarely, if ever, smiles.
  • The Stoic: Befitting of an assassin, she tends to act cold and professional.
  • Tsundere: Exclusively on the tsun-tsun side. She has a very harsh and violent exterior, but there have been instances where Sonya was shown to still care for Yasuna; in the final episode, she calls off a mission in order to help Yasuna out of a pit.
  • Tsurime Eyes: While Agiri also was Tsurime eyes, Sonya's in particular help illustrate her more harsh personality.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Yasuna. Despite putting her through multiple forms of physical and verbal abuse, she still hangs out with Yasuna quite a bit.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's scared of ghosts and doesn't do well with animals. When a dog once got loose in the classroom, the normally stoic assassin refused to do anything about it out of fear. Loud noises won't do too well with her either, but that's because she associates them with explosions and guns as on the job.

     Yasuna Oribe

Yasuna Oribe

Voiced by: Chinatsu Akasaki (Japanese), Hilary Haag (English)
An average schoolgirl who tries to befriend Sonya.
  • Befriending the Enemy: One of her motives for hanging around Sonya is trying to evoke reform in her, as mentioned in episode 13. In some chapters of the manga, she poetically invokes this trope.
  • Butt-Monkey: The frequent victim of Sonya's attacks.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: She is a very eccentric individual who willingly chooses to hang around a trained assassin despite being attacked by her multiple times.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Implied; Yasuna's Iron Butt Monkey status and her being able to outrun Sonya, a trained assassin, seems to suggest that she has a high level of physical fitness and potential in becoming an assassin just as skilled as Sonya herself.
  • The Ditz: She's shown multiple times to not be very bright, and often tries to mess with people or things that she really shouldn't be messing with (Such as Sonya).
  • Genki Girl: Energetic and always excited about something.
  • Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: Yasuna is the always peppy, ever childish Gleeful to Sonya's serious Grumpy.
  • Jerkass with a Heart of Gold: A passive-aggressive one. She constantly tries to prank Sonya, with varying degrees of success. Still, she's a caring girl that loves her friend.
  • Iron Butt-Monkey: Nothing ever stops Yasuna for long. Submission moves, limb fractures, punches to the face, she just keeps doing whatever she was doing.
  • Kiddie Kid: In high school, but often acts like a five year old and is still interested in toys.
  • Made of Iron: To survive the abuse that Sonya dishes out on her, she has to be.
  • Nice Girl: Ultimately, she's is very sweet and wants to befriend Sonya, despite her violent tendencies.
  • Sore Loser: A lot of her antics are motivated by trying to beat Sonya at something, anything. She even says she hates losing in the dub.
  • Tareme Eyes: She's sometimes drawn with these eyes, which fits her carefree and playful nature.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Sonya, even if she calls her her "best friend".

    Agiri Goshiki

Agiri Goshiki

Voiced by: Ai Takabe (Japanese, anime), Minami Shinoda (Japanese, Kirara Fantasia), Rozie Curtis (English)
A ninja who works for the same organization that Sonya does.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's ambiguous whether she is a real ninja or just a very convincing con-artist, as many things about her seem to contradict both things. Alternatively, being a con-artist is precisely what makes her a real, competent ninja.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Agiri might look a bit stoned and wacky, but she knows what she does as part of the organization. In an episode, she takes out an assassin who had come for Sonya with a regular boomerang.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Agiri never changes the sleepy, cheerful tone of her voice regardless of whether she's eating, buying a new phone, fighting a rival assassin from an enemy organization, standing inches away from an escaped zoo bear, or even killing people. Except in the English dub, where Agiri will occasionally ditch the voice either to snark or say a one liner.
  • Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: Whenever her eyes aren't closed, she's depicted with sleepy eyes, befitting her lax tone of voice and easygoing nature.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: As Yasuna puts, Agiri is constantly pulling out ninja-themed gadgets and toys.
  • Leitmotif: "Agiri to Watashi", which fits with Agiri's mysterious nature.
  • Ninja: She's either this, or just pretending to be one and using this façade to sell sham ninja gadgets to others.
  • The Stoic: Whatever the situation may be, she keeps her cool.
  • The Trickster: She often shows up to demonstrate her bizarre "ninja techniques" or gadgets to Sonya and Yasuna before disappearing, leaving the duo confused in her wake.
