- Drill Sergeant Nasty: In training her successor, Deanna drives Heather pretty hard, due not least to the latter's attitude, but mellows out over time as Heather improves in both attitude and skill.
- Drives Like Crazy: Deanna drives manically and erratically, with a cheerful disregard for the rules of the road.

- Blow You Away: Akari is an Air Keeper, with air-based Elemental Powers.

- Time Master: Nasira has the ability to freeze time, and can temporarily impart this ability to others.
Hasim
- Eccentric Mentor: Hasim, one of the Immortals, mentors the Keepers. A cheerful guy who has been around for hundreds of years, he loves his jellybeans and can kick some serious bad guy ass when he needs to.
- Encyclopaedic Knowledge His knowledge is so vast that it even serves him as a power source.
Radcliffe
- Faux Affably Evil: Radcliffe is usually rather calm and charming. He also blows up a planet, kidnaps, tortures with spells just because, enslaves someone with mind control, and certainly isn't above brutal murder.
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Radcliffe has a nasty-looking scar under his left eye.

- Teen Genius: Although in his twenties at the time of the story's events, he has been recognized as a genius since at least his teen years.

- Brutal Honesty: She does not hold back if she has something to say, even if she might be better off doing so.
- It Amused Me: She admits that she's mean to certain people for no other reason than because she finds it amusing.
- Starbucks Skin Scale: Kimberly's skin tone is described as "caramel".
