A list of characters from the 2021 adaptation of Jupiter's Legacy.

Heroes

     The Utopian

The Utopian/Sheldon Sampson

The leader and founder of the Union, father of Brandon and Chloe, and the creator of the "code" of superheroes.
  • The Ace: The Utopian is the premier superhero of the setting, being one of the most powerful, apparently one of the first, and a leader for the superhero community in general. However, he is not quite respected as others see him as increasingly old-fashioned.
  • Action Dad: He's a superhero who fights crime and is a family man.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: The Utopian is a strong deconstruction of the Superman archetype. His adherence to a higher standard of heroism is portrayed as actually being gravely unpopular, he's not the best of leaders, and he's not a good father even if he ostensibly tries.
  • The Leader: Of the Union.
  • Meaningful Name: The word "Utopia" literally means "no place" rather than its popular definition as a world free from strife. This is an indicator that Sheldon's rose-colored dream of a human race in harmony and camaraderie can never come to fruition, at least not in the way he wants it to.
  • Superman Substitute: He's The Cape and has Super-Strength, can fly and can fire Eye Beams. He is also the world's greatest superhero.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: A firm believer in this and is pissed when Brandon breaks it by killing Blackstar's clone.

     Lady Liberty

Lady Liberty/Grace Kennedy-Sampson

Wife of the Utopian, mother of Brandon and Chloe, and the Union's second-in-command.
  • Action Mom: She is mother of two and a superhero.
  • The Confidant: She's this to her husband to give him counter-arguments and suggestions.
  • '20s Bob Haircut: Grace sports an inverted bob in the past, starting during 1929.
  • The Lancer: To the Utopian while in battle.

     Paragon

Paragon/Brandon Sampson

Son of the Utopian and Lady Liberty who many believe will succeed his father upon his retirement or death.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He manages to save Utopian from Blackstar's clone.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Unlike in the comics where he never took up a superhero identity, here he operates as Paragon.
  • Patricide: Murders his father after succumbing to Brainwave's manipulation.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: He suffers from severe neurosis and the stress of being the son of the world's primer hero.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: He suffers from this due to most people's expectations that he will succeed his father who feels unsure about it due to his high standards. In the comics, he kills his father just because he thinks it's the only way to escape his dad's legacy.

     Brainwave

Brainwave/Walter Sampson

The Utopian's older brother who has psionic abilities and a member of the Union. Unlike his brother, he believes that superheroes should rule the world.
  • It's All About Me: He talks a good game about wanting to improve humanity, but it's just a guise to hide his Control Freak tendencies and entitlement.
  • The Evils of Free Will: He believes that humanity's free will is the root of all evil.
  • The Resenter: He reveals that he has secretly hated his younger brother since childhood due to him being their father's favorite, for his moral code and for being the leader of the Union, a team he helped form yet no one listened to his opinions and grievances.

     The Flare

Fitz Smalls/The Flare

The original Flare who had energy manipulation powers and flight. He was left paraplegic during the line of duty and thus reduced to a support role for the Union in which he helps with medicine and technology.

     The Flare II

Petra Smalls/The Flare II

The daughter of Fitz and the second Flare who inherited her father's powers but has insecurities with the superhero life.

     Barnabas

Barnabas Wolfe

A matter manipulation-based hero who styles himself as a magician and also happens to be a jerk with a high opinion of himself. He has a crush on Lady Liberty, something she doesn't reciprocate.
  • Comic-Book Movies Don't Use Codenames: Unlike in the original comic, his former alias of The Molecule Master isn't mentioned even once. It is mentioned in the Supercrooks anime though.

Civilians

     Chloe

Chloe Sampson

The rebellious daughter of the Utopian and Lady Liberty, who refuses to become a superhero and has decided to live a life of drugs, alcohol and skimpy modelling.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Well, more like Bratty Young Adult Daughter. She has a tense relationship with her family due to their strict moral code and her father insistence of her becoming a superhero to follow his footsteps. The tension was bad enough that she left for Miami to become a model.
  • Combo Platter Powers: Chloe is a Flying Brick with a sonic scream.
  • Glowing Eyes: Chloe's eyes glow when she uses her powers.

     Hutch

Hutch

The son of the Fallen Hero Skyfox and a petty criminal and drug smuggler. He begins a relationship with Chloe.

Villains

     Blackstar

Blackstar/Dr. William Henry Bendal

A mutated powerful supervillain who can weaponize anti-matter using an high-tech armor. The death of a clone of him leads to the discovery of a conspiracy against the Utopian.

     Skyfox

Skyfox/George Hutchence

A former-member of the Union and a Fallen Hero who attempted to perpetrate a coup against the US government decades ago out of a desire for social change, which turned him into an enemy of the Union.
  • Fallen Hero: A member of the Union before Brainwave betrayed him.
  • Notorious Parent: Since he became a criminal, he is this to his son Hutch.
  • The Scapegoat: Walter uses him to hide his creation of the Blackstar clone.
