    Main Characters

Prinsesse Fjellrose

The young blånisse princess. She's not brave enough to go outside, but when she discovers that her father's life is coming to an end, she has to find the courage to go outside and seek a cure.

  • Character Development: The first movie has her start out as a bit of a coward, being too scared to even go outside. By the end, she's grown much braver and willing to do what must be done to help her people. The second movie expands on her development, showing that she's also developing the wisdom needed from her as queen and following her heart.
  • Daddy's Girl: The first movie shows she was very close to her father, and the story is kicked off when she heads out in search of something that can save him when she learns his life is close to an end.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Since she is Queen in Jul I Blåfjell and Jul På Månetoppen, which the movies are prequels to, it's pretty obvious that her being exiled from Blåfjell in the first movie, and her giving up her crown in the second movie, wouldn't be permanent.

Dreng

A young rødnisse who is the son of the rødnisse queen, who has recently given him the crown due to being too old to travel. However, since he's still young, the other rødnisser don't really take him seriously as king.

Characters introduced in the First Movie

Blånissekongen

Fjellrose's father, who has lived for a long time. Because he has lived such a long time, he's starting to lose the ability to see color, which is a sign that his life is nearing its end.

  • Spirit Advisor: Is shown to have become one with the mountain like the other ancients after his death near the end of the movie.

Vom

A greedy rødnisse who loves food and refuses to let anyone else near his things. Turns out he's been stealing from the farmer on the farm they live on.

  • Fatal Flaw: His greed ultimately leads to his doom, when he's too occupied trying to take back the stolen items Fjellrose and Dreng had returned to his farm, failing to notice the farmer's girlfriend walk in on him, causing him to disappear when she sees him.
  • Greed: His most prominent character trait, which ends up causing a lot of trouble for everyone else.

Blånisser

Rødnisser

  • Must Make Amends: After realizing how badly they've screwed up by listening to Vom and taking the blue silver, they work together with blånissene to take it back to the mountain where it belongs.

Halvor

A farmer who has become quite paranoid due to having his things stolen. He believes nisser are responsible, but no one believes him. Just wants to be left alone, and impress his girlfriend.

  • Anti-Villain: Not a bad person, but constantly having his things stolen has left him rather paranoid, and he only starts directly trying to seek out those responsible after it happens one too many times. He also has no clue what the blue silver is, and the consequences of taking it from Blåfjell. He calms down once his things are returned and he's finally proposed to his girlfriend, leaving them a pot of porridge and decorating the barn they live in for Christmas before they return as a way of showing that he's forgiven them.
  • Cassandra Truth: No one believes his claims that nisser are responsible for his things being stolen. Not only did Fjellrose steal that one coin from him, but Vom is the one who stole the other things.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Follows Fjellrose and Dreng's tracks to Blåfjell after mistakenly believing they had taken the ring he was going to use to propose to his girlfriend with, and ends up taking the blue silver after Vom convinced the other rødnissene to take it and place it as an offering to the farmer so he'd leave them alone. This kicks off The Night That Never Ends, until Fjellrose and Dreng head out to return the things Vom stole and take back the blue silver.
