Bastio Brando/Pale Dove Will And Hell Of It

A nobleman born near the end of the 3900s, he was to be betrothed to Elina Pendragon for both his status and for his philanthropic work. In actuality, he's a cruel and monstrous man who subject Stands into hellish mutations and is actually considered a candidate for Team When You're Evil.

However, it's soon revealed that he's far more evil as his true identity is that of Bastio Brando, the bastard half sibling of Dio's mother who was the true inheritor of the Brando lineage rather than Dario, having used unnatural means to keep alive by taking over bodies and swapping between hosts when one is about to die. Through this means of longevity, he became Diavolo's true father and the true leader of Passione. Unfortunately, Giorno Giovanna ousted Bastio from his position, forcing him to take a more menial position as a human trafficker in America in secret to avoid Giorno's wrath. Through a very lucky set of circumstances, Made in Heaven's reset of the universe landed him in the new continuity where he would resume his evil ways, eventually taking Dove Pale Will as a host.

His current alias is based on the character of Swan from Phantom Of The Paradise and Paul Williams.

His Stand Hell Of It- named after the song of the same name from the movie Phantom of the Paradise, is able to summon antimatter of the selected target, which when colliding with matter, will cause both to obliterate.

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In the main continuity, Dario is of the Brando lineage with no apparent siblings. In the continuity of this story, Dario's wife is of the Brando lineage, with Dario only being related through marriage and technically being her half-brother due to his father taking her mother to birth Bastio. Bastio is disgusted by Dario's unsophisticated behavior and his half sister's kindness.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: In spite of his retroactive level of importance to the previous universe, he's defeated before becoming one of Testa Raven's Praetorian Guard, with a complete unknown taking his spot as added insult.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Pale Dove Will is known publicly as a philanthropist and was even engaged to the Elina Pendragon's betrothed under the assumption he would be a good king. In actuality, he's an utterly evil being who subjects his victims to horrific experimentations as Joana found out and is considered a candidate to Team When You're Evil.
  • Body Surf: His immortality generated by the Blue Stone of Aria, allows him to take over bodies when one is about to die, embedding itself into the next host once completed. Diavolo was born from one of these occurrences.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Hell Of It is a bright colored Stand, but its general appearance being demonic and its destructive power reflect on its user's evil nature.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: While in public he pretends otherwise, he admits in private to be an incarnation of evil meant to cause suffering and anguish to the world.
  • Demonic Possession: His immortality generated by the Blue Stone of Aria acts in a manner similar to this, taking over a host, regardless of whether they're living or not, and then discarding it when the host is about to die.
  • Dirty Coward: In spite of his methodical nature and callous regard to life, he will immediately turn craven when the means to his longevity is compromised, begging to spared.
  • Evil Counterpart: The Blue Stone of Aria manages to be an even worse version of the Red Stone of Aja, having been sealed away by the Hamon monks due to its potentially dangerous use to ruin lives and create a potential monster that cannot be killed conventionally. Bastio deliberately sought this out, taking the potential risks of the Red Stone into consideration.
  • Expy: His characterization and design is inspired heavily from Swan from Phantom of The Paradise, both being short men who discover immortality through unholy means and cause the main character to become grotesque in order to better control them.
  • Faux Affably Evil: In public he acts soft-spoken and gentle, but in private, he's much more talkative, but his politeness only enhances how rotten to the core he is.
  • Foil: To DIO, both were born blonde men with evil hearts, who would later reject their humanity and become immortal monsters that used the lives of others to survive, eventually taking over one's body to escape their predicament. However, there are slight differences as Dio Brando was raised in the slums with bitterness, would partially gain power to get back at the world, became a vampire to escape being sent to jail, before eventually settling on his Heaven plan after taking Joanthan's body as a sign of respect. Bastio on the other hand, was given the love and luxury DIO was denied from birth, but turned to evil for no real reason than amusement and sought out the Blue Stone of Aria, knowing it would extend his existence and make him a demon to allow his evil actions to endure.
  • For the Evulz: While DIO is evil, he eventually finds a higher goal to work towards and has some bitter feelings towards his past. Bastio in comparison, was raised in comfort and love, but still turned out evil, if not worse due to lacking a goal aside from causing evils onto others.
    • When asked by Giorno why he allowed the drug trade to sell to children, his answer that it was on a whim.
  • Immortality Immorality: His source of his body-taking immortality shifting to another host upon death, the Blue Stone of Aria, was gained by locating it in the Hamon Temple and then killing Tom-Petty under the guise of a natural death. And the means he often choses to gain a new host is to take over the children or descendants he's slept with over the centuries.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The part started off light-hearted until Dove's true nature is revealed in two-fold, being a monster both in personality and in nature, having committed countless atrocities in the previous continuity alone. Even compared to the Parts Big Bad contenders such as Testa Raven and Justiz Beliver, he comes across as evil. Only Cioccolata manages to equal his evilness.
  • The Man Behind the Man: He reveals himself to be not only Diavolo's true father in one of his previous lives, but also the true mastermind behind Diavolo's reign.
  • Villains Want Mercy: When the source of his immortality, the Blue Stone of Aria.
  • Virtue Is Weakness: Like many of his lineage, he believes virtue is worthless unless it be exploited such as a good self-image to better manipulate others with or a means to be spared from death.
  • Walking Spoiler: Dove Pale Will's true identity retroactive changes the context of the plot of the initial universe.
