Cheryl's Family
Cheryl/Charon
The protagonist of the story. A 15-year-old transgender girl.
- Alter Ego: Played With. Charon treats Cheryl as this to some degree, only going by Cheryl when she is presenting feminine.
- Sobriquet Sex Switch: Charon becomes Cheryl, retaining the ch, though the common pronunciations differ.
Chelsie
Cheryl's 17-year-old sister. She helps turn Charon into Cheryl via makeover.
- Cool Big Sis: Very supportive of Cheryl, both before and after she came out as trans.
- Cosplay: Chelsie is an avid cosplayer, which is how she honed her makeover skills.
- A Day in the Limelight: Pages 271 through 283 are a recap chapter told from her perspective, depicting herself and her siblings growing up.
- Shipper on Deck: Is very supportive of Cheryl's interest in Delilah.
Chloe
Cheryl and Chelsie's 14-year-old sister.
- Deadpan Snarker: Has a very sarcastic personality.
- Gamer Chick: An avid gamer, and very good at competitive games.
- Tomboy: Doesn't care much about looking feminine, but denies being a trans boy when asked.
Hank
The father of Cheryl, Chelsie, and Chloe.
- Open-Minded Parent: Is very supportive and accepting of Cheryl.
- Pungeon Master: His first impulse, when told that 'Charon' might be trans, is to make a pun about it.
Carleen
The mother of Cheryl, Chelsie, and Chloe.
- Open-Minded Parent: Though she's initially uncomfortable with the idea of Cheryl being trans, she nonetheless promises to be supportive.
- Strong Family Resemblance: All three of her kids share her brown hair and eyes.
Cheryl's Classmates
Zack
Cheryl's best friend.
Delilah
A girl who sits next to Charon at school. She and Cheryl quickly become friends (and may become something more).
- Love Interest: Seems to be heading this way.
Adrian
A friend of Zack and Cheryl.
- Ambiguous Gender Identity: When Charon asks Adrian if he would like to be a cute anime girl, Adrian says yes. He later explains that he wouldn't mind trying it out, but wouldn't want to become one full time, implying that he isn't a trans girl, but might be non-binary, genderfluid, or just gender non-conforming. For that matter, Adrian's appearance is already more feminine.
- Token Black Friend: The only black person in Cheryl's friend group.
Randy
A former friend of Zach and Charon.
Gina
A friend of Delilah.
- Closet Gay: When Delilah brings up wanting to be a boy as a hypothetical, Gina casually acts like it's normal for girls to want to be boys, heavily implying that she is actually a trans boy but unaware of it.
Tristan
A classmate of Charon who has a crush on Cheryl (not realizing that they're the same person).
