The Justice League

    In General
  • Composite Character: Their Consummate Professional take on superheroism comes from the DCAU incarnation, while their close association with other teams (specifically, those made up of younger superheroes) and scouting of their members for potential recruitment come from the Young Justice (2010) version. The Original Seven also matches that of the DCAU incarnation, though with Barry Allen as the Flash instead of Wally West.
  • Super Team: The Superhero Team. While there are other teams running around (most prominently the (Teen) Titans), they are the most famous, most extensive, and most powerful.

The Founders

    Superman

Clark Kent | Kal-El

Born as Kal-El, he was sent to Earth by his father, Jor-El, to save him from Krypton's inevitable destruction. Upon his arrival to Earth as an infant, he was adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent and was given the name Clark Kent. The values instilled upon him by his adoptive family filled him with a desire to protect his newfound home and the people living on it. Thus, Earth's greatest champion, Superman, was born. With the help of Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter, he would found the Justice League, and together they would go on to protect Earth from many threats including Darkseid, the White Martians, and the Thanagarians.

Now, Superman faces a new challenge when a group of injured teenagers come crashing down to Earth followed by a new alien threat the likes of which he has never faced before...

  • All-Loving Hero: Despite seeing Ruby and her friends lashing out in panic, he gives her a hug to assure her it is alright.
  • Back from the Dead: He was brought back to life by Batman and Wonder Woman using the Resurrection Matrix in order to fight back against Darkseid's invasion.
  • Big Good: Of Earth's heroes, many of whom became heroes after following his example.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He can't bring himself yet to reveal his secret identity to his girlfriend Lois Lane, who's already aware and is waiting for him to tell her himself.
  • The Cape: The Trope Codifier. Superman is the superhero for many people, an ideal of hope that many strive towards. He's open, kind, humble, and friendly to everyone he meets. In particular, it's he that manages to finally bring RWBYJNPR out of their depression after they first arrive on Earth, and all of them look up to the Man of Steel tremendously.
  • Clark Kenting: While Ren can't help but think he looks familiar, the glasses make him unsure if he really is Superman.
    • Blake only really connects the dots when Lois calls Clark by his nickname of Smallville when she realizes Superman's backstory is the same.
  • Commonality Connection: Both Superman and RWBYJNPR lost their home planets. The only difference being that Superman lost Krypton when he was an infant due to his people destabilizing their planet's core, whereas RWBYJNPR lost Remnant due to Brainiac's invasion.
  • Composite Character: His backstory seems to be based on his DCEU counterpart, while his general personality and relationship with Lois borrows from both the comics and the DCAU.
  • Cooldown Hug: Gives one to Ruby when he gets in the infirmary after they've woken up, letting her cry on his shoulder. Ruby later returns the favor in the Fortress of Solitude after he explains Krypton's fate.
  • Flying Brick: Superman is, by far, the strongest individual on the Justice League. Not to mention the strongest person anyone on Team RWBY or Team JNPR has ever met. They specifically call out how varied his power set is.
  • Holding Out for a Hero: He did try to be more active when he first moved to Metropolis and donned the Superman mantle for the first time but, among other consequences, people became more reckless because they assumed that he would save them, some even deliberately endangering themselves so they could meet him, forcing him to step back.
  • Hope Bringer: He inspires awe and hope as one of Earth's greatest protectors, so much that Ruby even envisions him as the embodiment of hope within her mind.
  • The Joy of First Flight: A variant; Superman decides to bring Teams RWBY and JNPR down to his parents' farm where he takes each of them flying, letting them enjoy the world from his perspective. They spend five hours flying.
  • Last of His Kind: As far as Superman knows, he's the last Kryptonian in the universe after Krypton was destroyed. Luckily, he's been both literally and figuratively collected by humanity and has grown to be their greatest champion.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Reassures Ruby in the aftermath of the Fawcett City incident, pointing out the good that she did and her reasons for becoming a Huntress.

    Batman

Bruce Wayne

Born as the heir of the prestigious Wayne family, young Bruce's life was turned upside down when his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, were murdered in front of his very eyes. This began a long journey in the pursuit of vengeance. He traveled far and wide seeking for the means to fight injustice and turn fear upon those who prey on the fearful. When he returned to Gotham, he would become known as Gotham's Dark Knight, Batman. For many years, he would fight against some of the most dangerous criminals in Gotham, and he would take on several apprentices who would go by the name "Robin." Eventually, he would join forces with Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl to form the Justice League to protect the Earth from all threats both within and beyond the planet.

Now, Batman must deal with the arrival of teams RWBY and JNPR in helping them adapt to life on Earth while dealing with the new threat of the Grimm. All of those familiar with Batman know that he will leave nothing to chance in order to protect the Earth.

  • Amicable Exes: Used to be in a relationship with Lois Lane, during which time she found out he was Batman. They've since broken up, but remain good friends, if a little awkward at times.
  • Betty and Veronica: The Archie to Wonder Woman's Betty and Catwoman's Veronica.
  • Badass Normal: Batman has no powers of his own, yet is still able to fight side-by-side with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl on even footing.
  • Broken Pedestal: To RWBY and JNPR. They initially admired him but his creating the Aura-draining nanites behind their backs shattered that admiration and their trust. They are still willing to work with him and follow his orders, but they no longer consider him a friend and are much frostier when interacting with him.
  • Chick Magnet: He's got an on-and-off relationship with Catwoman, has UST with Wonder Woman, and had a child with Talia al Ghul — and those are his three major love interests. He's also got countless women thirsting after his civilian identity. He even dated Lois Lane for a time.
  • Comically Serious: Batman is a very dry individual, which comes across as funny in the right situation.
  • Commonality Connection: He's able to better connect with RWBYJNPR due to similar circumstances of losing everything they knew in the blink of an eye. For him, it was the loss of his family; for them, the loss of Remnant. He has a further connection with Ren, as both lost their parents to a single tragedy when they were young, both have a logical mindset, a stoic demeanor, and are skilled martial artists. This eventually extends to the point that he's offered them permanent residence with him in Gotham, an offer they take up gratefully.
  • Composite Character: Much like Diana, he borrows traits from Batmen of different continuities. His softer approach and more outwardly fatherly relationship with his charges come from Young Justice (2010), and his mutual attraction with Wonder Woman comes from the DCAU.
  • The Corruptible: Batman is terrified of the possibility he could be this. More than once, it's been implied that he wishes he could cross the line and be lethal like Damian or Jason, or even RWBYJNPR (who aren't above killing if they truly deem it necessary). But he can't, because he fears that if he does, he'll never stop.
  • The Cowl: The Trope Codifier. Batman, in contrast, to other heroes, sticks to the shadows, fights dirty, mostly works at night, and uses stealth to his advantage. Yet, it cannot be denied that Batman is genuinely one of the most heroic individuals on Earth, and someone that RWBYJNPR looks up to tremendously.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Batman is noted to have contingencies and plans for many of the villains he comes across. He's even created countermeasures to take down mind-controlled or gone rogue members of RWBYJNPR, and it's implied he has similar contingencies for the rest of the superhero community by Nightwing. It's fully confirmed in "Shattered Truths" that he devised countermeasures for League founders, but the full truth is that Batman only started it after they first came in contact with the Justice Lords.
    • Seeing the wounds on the alternate versions of Yang and Pyrrha (the versions of her that survives to reach Earth, at least), prompted him to focus on those areas in their costumes.
  • Dating Catwoman: Is in an on-and-off relationship with Selina Kyle. When RWBYJNPR finds out, their reactions range from amusement to disbelief to disapproval. All the pitfalls that come with this trope are also lampshaded.
  • Determinator: Manages to resist Poison Ivy's pheromones through sheer will until he can inject himself with an antidote.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: Subverted. Unlike in the comics, what Talia did to Bruce was not downplayed in the least, and while he doesn't hate her for it (most likely because he got Damian out of the deal) it killed whatever hopes they had for a relationship for good. Damian himself didn't take it well when he found out how exactly he was conceived, and promptly disowned his mother in turn.
  • The Dreaded: To Gotham City's criminal underworld, who outside of its biggest players/supervillains are outright terrified of him.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Batman is a firm crusader of justice and protector of his city, but he's done a fair number of things his fellow Leaguers disagree with and are still bitter about. Nevertheless, Superman openly says there's no one else he trusts more than Bruce.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: Batman understands completely why the children are furious that he went behind their backs with designing Aura-draining nanites, but he firmly states he considers it the best decision he could've made under the circumstances; therefore he claims he's fine with their trust in him being shattered. Diana however knows better and calls him out.
  • Love Triangle:
    • Used to be in one with Selina Kyle and Talia al Ghul. That promptly ended after he met Damian and learned his sole biological child was a Child by Rape, the offender being Talia.
    • Is now in one with Selina Kyle and Diana Prince. While his family has learned to tolerate Selina, it's obvious that all of them, even Damian, would prefer he'd be with someone that isn't a criminal, and Diana more than fits the bill. It's implied that Bruce would also prefer something a little more stable than what Selina and he have, but refuses to pursue it with Diana for the reasons detailed in Office Romance below.
  • The Mentor: He served as this to the various members of the Bat-Family and is now serving as this to RWBYJNPR. He's already drawn up plans for their training and ways to further improve whatever strengths they have and mitigate their weaknesses.
  • Not So Stoic: He's visibly surprised to find out Crescent Rose Mark 2 can fire 20mm rounds.
  • Office Romance: Defied. When Pyrrha asks for advice on her date with Jaune, he specifically tells her not to date him, explaining how it could screw up team dynamics if the relationship ended badly (such as one of them dying). This is presumably why he's continued his relationship with Selina instead of pursuing something more stable with Diana, especially since Diana, as a demigoddess, will almost certainly outlive him. That said, his advice to Pyrrha also stemmed from using the League's tech to look into the multiverse and saw versions of her that did suffer the same fate she did in canon (being murdered by Cinder Fall).
  • Papa Wolf: Put the Joker in a coma for three months for crippling Barbara Gordon. Of course, that was nothing compared to when Joker murdered Jason; it's implied Bruce was strongly tempted to kill him after that. Instead, he beat the Joker so severely that the clown was put into another coma, this one lasting over a year.
  • Secret-Keeper: He's apparently the only one who knows that Lois knows that Superman and Clark Kent are one and the same.
  • Sixth Ranger: J'onn reveals that Batman is the only founder he didn't call out to. He just followed Superman.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Batman is fond of performing these, to the point where Commissioner Gordon and Harvey Bullock have grown reluctantly used to it.
  • Terror Hero: Willingly and ruthlessly targets his opponent's psyche by preying upon their fears, developing a terrifying and intimidating aura around himself to further exploit this tactic.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: Batman has a strict rule that he will not kill anyone. However, this rule extends only to himself. He's willing to accept other heroes killing in self-defense or the defense of others, such as when Jason killed one of Scarecrow's goons attempting to execute a mother and her child. This is notably laxer than he usually takes the rule in some other adaptations. He also accepts killing non-sentients like the Grimm, or villains that simply can't be stopped any other way, like Doomsday or Solomon Grundy.

    Wonder Woman

Diana Prince | Diana of Themyscira

Millenia ago, Diana of Themyscira was born as the daughter of Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons and Zeus, one of the Old Gods and the King of Olympus. With her divine heritage, Diana was raised to become one of Themyscira's strongest warriors. She and her fellow Amazons lived isolated from Man's World until one fateful day when an American spy by the name of Steven Trevor washed up on their shores. Through him, she learned of a plot by Ares, the God of War and enemy of Themyscira, to escalate World War I and grow his power through it. Realizing that Themyscira could no longer afford to remain isolated while Ares grew stronger, she joined forces with Steve and would aid the Allied forces. Her acts of heroism would earn her the name, Wonder Woman. While she was successful in foiling Ares, it came at the cost of Steven Trevor's life, whom she had become close to. After the War, she would travel the world fighting evil and injustice wherever it was. Eventually, she would join forces with Superman, Batman, and others to form the Justice League, and with her and the Amazons of Themyscira behind her, they would protect the Earth from all those who would threaten it.

When a group of injured teenagers come falling out of the sky, it is Diana's compassion and empathy that drives her to help these wayward children find their way on this strange new world they find themselves on.

  • Ambadassador: She's Themyscira's ambassador and one of Earth's premiere superheroes, with skills not just in combat but also on diplomacy and negotiation.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Acknowledged. Diana is noted to be one of, if not the most beautiful women in the world. She's also Princess of the Amazons, making her the Amazonian Beauty. It got to the point where all of RWBY and JNPR declare that Diana is the most beautiful person they'd ever met.
  • Betty and Veronica: The Betty to Bruce's Archie against Selina's Veronica. She was originally the Third-Option Love Interest in his Love Triangle with Selina and Talia, until Damian came along.
  • Composite Character: She has the origin story of her DCEU counterpart, while her mutual attraction with Batman comes from the DCAU.
  • Decomposite Character: With her sister, Donna Troy / Wonder Girl. Donna's origin story is notoriously convoluted due to numerous Retcons made in the comics. The authors of this story solved this by giving Diana her New 52/DCEU origin (demigoddess daughter of Zeus and Queen Hippolyta) and Donna Diana's original origin story (molded from clay by Hippolyta and given life by the gods).
  • Even the Girls Want Her: All of RWBY and JNPR are attracted to Diana, even Weiss and Nora, who Blake honestly believes are straight. Diana is actually flattered by this.
  • Flying Brick: To a lesser degree than Superman, but Diana is a powerhouse. She can fly, has super strength, has hundreds of years of combat training and experience, and with her shield and gauntlets, she's pretty much bulletproof.
  • Not So Above It All: When Willow heads into the training room dragging a claymore, Diana gives her a thumbs up.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Diana left Paradise Island in the first place specifically to try and stop the First World War from spiraling out of control. Except for a few periods afterward, she hasn't stopped trying to make the world a better place since. Now she's one of the main leaders of the Justice League itself, alongside the other League Founders.
  • Third-Option Love Interest: She was originally this to Batman while he was torn between Catwoman and Talia al Ghul. Then Damian came along, along with the story of his conception, and suddenly Talia was no longer in the running.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Batman.
  • Warrior Princess: Diana is the Princess of Themyscira, yet she kicks just as much ass, if not more, than anyone else.

    Martian Manhunter

J'onn J'onzz | John Jones

A member of the philosophical Green Martian race, hundreds of years ago J'onn J'onzz lived a normal life with his wife and two children on the planet Mars, known to the Martian people as Ma'aleca'andra. But everything changed when the Imperium, mistakenly referred to as White Martians by humanity at large, invaded his homeworld and killed his family. J'onn fought valiantly against the invaders along with the rest of his people, but in the end all they could do was seal the Imperium away, and J'onn J'onzz became the last of his kind. For centuries he remained vigilant, keeping watch over those who destroyed his people so that they wouldn't harm anyone else again. But after human explorers on Mars accidentally unearthed the Imperium, setting the stage for an invasion of Earth, J'onn had to act. Even though he was captured and tortured by his ancient enemies, he was able to telepathically reach out across the world and summon Earth's greatest heroes, assembling the Justice League that was able to fight off and defeat the Imperium before Earth could succumb to Mars' fate.

With the Imperium defeated and his people gone, J'onn has come to accept his new life as one of Earth's greatest heroes: the Martian Manhunter. He has even adopted a human persona, a Middleton Police Department detective named John Jones. Although he sometimes finds it difficult to emotionally connect to humanity like he could with his own people, he defends them as though they were, using his tremendous strength and psychic abilities to fight anyone who wished the innocent harm.

  • Alien Catnip: He has developed an addiction to Choco cookies, so much that the rest of the Justice League has to hold an intervention, and his niece M'gann gets him cookies almost like a drug deal.
  • Commonality Connection: Like RWBYJNPR, J'onn lost his race and, arguably, his planet due to alien invaders only to find themselves on Earth.
  • Intangibility: J'onn can manipulate his molecular density, allowing him to phase through matter as though it wasn't there.
  • Kill It with Fire: As a Martian, J'onn is susceptible to fire due to a psychosomatic pyrophobia. It's his only weakness.
  • Last of His Kind: J'onn is the last Green Martian in existence after the White Martians/Imperium invaded ancient Mars and stripped it of life, not including his Imperium/Green Martian hybrid niece, M'gann M'orzz. This allows him to better bond with RWBYJNPR during their Heroic BSoD due to shared experiences. Unlike Superman, who never really knew Krypton on account of being sent to Earth as an infant before its destruction, J'onn was there for the final days of life on Mars, and even after years of living and working on his adopted home of Earth, the loss of his race still haunts him.
  • Private Detective: In his identity as John Jones he works as a private investigator for Middleton's police department.
  • Secret Identity: Thanks to his shapeshifting it is easy for him to have one. His current human identity is private detective John Jones.
  • Shapeshifter Longevity: Martians were all long-lived shapeshifters and J'onn is over a 1000 years old.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: He's not as bad as Batman, but J'onn does make Qrow jump while phasing into his room.
  • Telepathy: J'onn has vast psychic powers on account of his Martian physiology. This comes in handy during RWBYJNPR's first week in the Watchtower, as it allows him to teach them English quite easily.

    Green Lantern

John Stewart

Once a simple United States Marine Corp. sniper, John Stewart went above and beyond the call of duty when the New Gods of Apokolips, led by the terrible Darkseid, invaded Earth during what came to be known as the Darkseid War. For his heroism during the war, John was awarded the Medal of Honor, his nation's highest military decoration, and attracted the attention of the Green Lantern Corp, a intergalactic peacekeeping force centered on the planet Oa. In time, he was inducted into their ranks alongside fellow human Lanterns Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner. A military man at heart, John's constructs might not be as flashy or elaborate as his fellow Lanterns, particularly Kyle Rayner, but when it comes to defending the people of Earth and the galaxy at large, there's nothing that'll stop him.

  • Boring, but Practical: Unlike fellow Lantern Kyle Rayner, John's constructs tend to be simple but effective.
  • Mentor Archetype: Is apparently currently acting as a mentor to Jessica Cruz.
  • Military Superhero: Was a marine sniper prior to joining the Green Lantern Corps. Interestingly, he served in the Darkseid War and even managed to obtain a Medal of Honor while rescuing trapped civilians during the climactic Battle of Metropolis. This is what caught the Corps' attention in the first place.
  • Official Couple: With Shayera.

    Hawkgirl

Shayera Hol

Born on the planet Thanagar, the seat the Thanagarian Empire, Shayera Hol was assigned to Earth as an advance scout to prepare the planet for annexation. Joining the Justice League as Hawkgirl, over the years Shayera came to genuinely care for and love the people of Earth even as she was supposed to conquer them when the time came. Eventually, the Thanagarian Empire arrived as planned, and although she initially and relucantly fulfilled her duties to the letter, she turned against her people once she discovered that they planned to destroy the planet. Although her defection helped save the world, she found herself denounced as a traitor by both. Exiled from Thanagar, Shayera has rededicated her life to protecting the people of Earth, who eventually came to forgive and recognize her as one of their greatest heroes.

  • Deep Cover Agent: Originally was one, before defecting to protect Earth from her people.
  • Defector from Decadence: Was originally sent to Earth as an advanced scout for the Thanagarian Empire prior to their occupation of Earth. She grew to love the planet and its people, and once it was discovered that the Thanagarians planned to destroy Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass, she defected and joined Earth wholeheartedly.
  • Flight: Thanks to the hawk-like wings on her back.
  • Human Aliens: Other than wings Thanagarians look just like humans.
  • Official Couple: With John Stewart.
  • Unobtanium: Uses an Nth Metal mace in combat.

    The Flash

Bartholomew "Barry" Allen

Growing up, Barry Allen was a normal kid with a loving mother and father. But his life took a drastic turn one day when his mother was suddenly murdered, and his father blamed for the crime he didn't commit. With his family irrevocably torn apart, Barry dedicated his life to solving the murder, finding the true culprit, and proving his father innocent. As part of this goal, he became a master of forensic science and eventually joined the Central City Police Department as a forensic scientist. There his life was once again changed when a lightning strike hit his laboratory as he was working, exposing him to the Speed Force and imbuing him with tremendous speed. He became faster than any living being in the world, and perhaps the universe at large as well.

Using his newfound powers, Barry Allen became the Flash, the Fastest Man Alive, to defend the people of Central City against those who would wish them harm. In time, as he learned how to master his abilities, he discovered he was able to run not just through physical space but through time as well. But this discovery, as well as his attempt to exploit it to his own benefit, turned out to have drastic consequences for him and the entire Multiverse itself.

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: Taking after John Wesley Shipp, Grant Gustin, and Ezra Miller, this version of Barry is brunet, not blond.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: The main reason the Rogues don't kill police officers or bystanders when committing crimes is because a truly angry Flash is very dangerous.
  • Big Eater: On account of his insane metabolism. He needs to eat as much as he can just so his body won't burn itself out.
  • Composite Character: He's Barry Allen, but has the easygoing personality and Big Eater tendancies of the DCAU Wally West.
  • It's All My Fault: Discussed. After revealing that he rebooted The Multiverse with the Flashpoint and that the current universe is a Merged Reality, he brings up the possibility that his actions might’ve pulled Remnant into the current universe. RWBYJNPR are quick to get him to abandon that train of thought.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In his desire to prevent the murder of his mother and his father being framed for it, he ended up accidentally creating the Flashpoint Paradox and making a new universe, which is why he's reluctant to travel back in time and make large changes.
  • Parental Abandonment: His mother Nora was killed by the Reverse-Flash when he was a boy, and his father Henry was framed for it and died in prison two years before Barry became the Flash.
  • Super-Speed: The Speedster. The Flash is, quite accurately, referred to as the 'fastest man alive' for a reason. He only got hit during the Grimm outbreak in Metropolis because he got distracted.

Other Members

    Green Arrow

Oliver Queen

Oliver Queen used to be nothing more than an arrogant and self-absorbed billionaire playboy, content to exploit his family's wealth on an extravagant and self-indulgent lifestyle. But his life completely changed when he drunkenly fell overboard off his yacht in the Yellow Sea. Washing up on Starfish Island, Oliver for the first time in his life had to fight for his right to survive. Spending years on the island, Oliver taught himself the ancient art of archery, crafting primitive trick arrows to forge and hunt each and every day. He proved to be a quick learner, and over the years became a master archer, second to none.

By the time he returned to Star City, gone was the Oliver Queen of old. Instead, Oliver found himself a changed man, one who could no longer simply spend his vast fortune on himself alone nor could he ignore the injustice suffered by those around him. Using his masterful skills in archery, and the vast resources that being the owner of Queen Industries affords him, Oliver Queen fights for those who cannot defend themselves as the Green Arrow while championing progressive causes in his civilian life.

  • Badass Normal: Unlike his girlfriend Dinah, Oliver has no powers beyond combat training and his skill with the bow.
  • Battle Couple: With Black Canary.
  • Catch and Return: Nonchalantly catches an arrow shot by a League of Shadows' assassin, shoots it back and pins the assassin to a wall.
  • The One Guy: During the infiltration of Bludhaven, he's the only male on the team.
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: When surrounded by heroes and villains with super-high-tech gadgets, superpowers, and more guns than you shake a fist at, Green Arrow uses...a bow and arrow. Yet he's still able to kick as much ass.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: While his code isn't as strict as Batman's, Oliver prefers not to kill his enemies if he can avoid it.

    Black Canary

Dinah Laurel Lance

The daughter of Dinah Drake, the original Black Canary and onetime member of the Justice Society of America, Dinah Lance inherited her mother's infamous Canary Cry, a superpowered scream that is powerful enough to subdue almost anyone in her way. Like her mother before her, Dinah inherited the role of the Black Canary, where she uses her Canary Cry and her extensive skills in various martial arts to fight crime and defend the innocent. At the same time, she serves as one of the Justice League's on-call therapists, offering her ear and words of advice to anyone who needs them.

  • Battle Couple: With Green Arrow.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: She and Oliver discuss dating plans while fighting members of the League of Shadows.
  • Generation Xerox: Mentions she inherited her moniker and Canary Cry from her mother.
  • Required Secondary Powers: To ensure her Canary Cries don't render her deaf, Dinah's eardrums seal shut to protect themselves when she uses her powers. This does however also render her temporarily deaf until she stops.
  • Super-Scream: Can emit an extremely powerful, high-pitched scream towards her opponents that she dubbed the Canary Cry. She can even shatter glass in mid-air shooting towards her with it.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted. Like Miss Martian she's one of the League's certified therapists and Jessica Cruz is one of her patients.

    The Question

Vic Sage

At one point, Vic Sage was just a television investigative journalist with a penchant for conspiracy theories. But after growing frustrated with the crime and corruption that plagued his home of Hub City, Vic donned a special mask that obscured his face so well that it appeared as though he didn't have one, becoming the Question. Although his personality is off-putting to most, and his belief in seemingly insane conspiracy theories concerning to everyone, the Question's skills as a detective rival even Batman himself, particularly with his ability to look at even the smallest, most seemingly inconsequential piece of evidence, and follow it towards the truth.

  • The Blank: As always, he wears a special mask that blurs his facial features.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: As Batman puts it, Question is, strange to say the least, but his detective skills are comparable to Batman's own.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: His many wild theories tend to annoy the other members of the League. According to Hawkgirl, he once went on a rant about how tooth-paste is used to track people by satellite.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: No one in the Justice League feels enthusiastic about teaming up with him.

    Orion

Orion

A New God of New Genesis, Orion is the son of Darkseid who was traded to New Genesis as part of a peace agreement between it and Apokolips. Raised by Highfather, Orion has come to regret his biological parentage and remain steadfastly opposed to his father's tyranny. Ironically, this act of extreme defiance has made him Darkseid's favorite child.

  • Archnemesis Dad: Hates his biological father Darkseid with an undying passion.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Acts rough to everyone he meets, but Orion genuinely cares about everyone and tries to help protect the universe from the forces of evil, such as his father. Tellingly, the League trusts Orion not to notify New Genesis about Ruby's eyes, and he willingly does so out of a desire for Ruby to both be safe and stay in a more nurturing environment (as opposed to be taken to New Genesis solely for her powers to be honed and used as a weapon against Darkseid).
  • The Stoic: Has to constantly keep his rage in check, coming off as even more serious than Batman.

    Mister Terrific

Michael Holt

A modern Renaissance man, Michael Holt is considered to be one of the most intelligent beings on planet Earth, second only to Ray Palmer and Lex Luthor. With fourteen Ph.Ds, a self-made multi-million-dollar fortune, and gold Olympic medals, Michael had it all. But following the accidental and tragic deaths of his wife and unborn child, he was visited by the Spectre while contemplating suicide. Inspired by the story of Terry Sloan, the original Mister Terrific, Michael Holt took up the mantle. Although he has no superpowers of his own, and mostly relegates himself to coordinating the Justice League's worldwide operations as mission control, he fights to protect the people of Earth with his vast intellect, skills, and his T-Spheres.

  • Badass Normal: Doesn't have any powers but his skills and intellect.
  • Mission Control: Usually serves as this for the Watchtower alongside Martian Manhunter.

    Aquaman

Arthur Curry

Born from the forbidden love between Thomas Curry, a lighthouse keeper, and Atlanna, Queen of Atlantis, Arthur Curry has always been torn between two worlds: the surface world of humanity, and the undersea kingdoms of Atlantis. For much of his life, he preferred solitude, content to avoid Atlantis entirely while using his Atlantean powers to benefit struggling coastal communities around the world, becoming an urban legend known as the Aquaman in the process. But that began to change when he was forced out of hiding due to Darkseid's invasion, where he proved an invaluable asset and instrumental in defeating the alien tyrant.

Although he tried to return to his solitary ways after the war, he forced to intervene when his half-brother Orm Marius attempted to become Oceanmaster and instigate a devastating war between Atlantis and the surface world. Deposing his brother with the help of Mera, who became his wife and Queen, Arthur fell into the role of King of Atlantis, a duty he did not initially want but came to accept as his own. When his brutal rivalry with Black Manta exposed Atlantis to the wider world, he has become instrumental in bringing both of his peoples together and leading Atlantis into becoming a global force for good.

    Vixen

Mari McCabe

Growing up in a small village in the African nation of Zambesi, Mari Jiwe McCabe had long been told of the legend of the Tantu Totem by her mother. According to the tale, a warrior named Tantu asked the spider-god Anansi to create a powerful totem that would imbue the wearer with the powers of all in the animal kingdom, but only if they use said power to defend the innocent. But unbeknowst to Mari, the legend of the Tantu Totem was real, and after her mother was killed by poachers and she was taken in by her uncle, who had the totem in his possession, she inherited it as her own. Moving to America and beginning a modeling career, Mari used the power of the totem to become the superhero named Vixen and protect both the innocent and the natural world.

  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: She can use the abilities of any animal she wants.
  • The Cameo: So far her only appearance is at the beginning of the story, telling the Remnantians of Scarecrow's terror attack.

    Vigilante

Greg Saunders

Son of a Wyoming sheriff and grandson to a Native American fighter, Greg Saunders initially wanted nothing more than to pick up a guitar and becoming a country singer. But after his father was murdered, he went back home to pursue justice against the bandits who killed him, becoming the Vigilante.

    Shining Knight

Sir Justin

The newest Knight of the Round Table from King Arthur's court in Camelot, Sir Justin was bestowed a magical set of armor that made him impervious to harm and a magic sword that could cut through anything. These gifts were intended to help Sir Justin in his quest to slay the villainous ogre Blunderbore who had viciously murdered Queen Guinevere's cousin, Sir Fallon. But as they fought, the ogre caused an avalanche that buried both of them under the ice and snow. It was only thanks to his armor that Sir Justin survived, keeping him in suspended animation all the way up to the 21st Century when he was reawakened. Finding himself in a radically changed world with ideals completely alien to his own, Sir Justin nonetheless continues to follow the code of chivalry and defend the innocent as the Shining Knight.

  • Ancestral Weapon: Not his, specifically, but how he describes Crocea Mors when Jaune was feeling self-conscious about it compared to the weapons his friends had. As Justin notes, only Crocea Mors has a heroic legacy passed down from Arc to Arc, which is something to be extremely proud of.
  • Badass Normal: Other than longevity and his magical armor, Shining Knight doesn't have powers.
  • Master Swordsman: He's extremely capable with his swordplay, to the point where he even trains Jaune for a time while he was up in the Watchtower.
  • Odd Friendship: His best friend is Vigilante, an old school cowboy.

    Booster Gold

Michael Jon Carter

Hailing from the 25th Century, Michael Carter's life could only be described as a disappointment. Once a star college football player, he was banned from playing after it was discovered he had been gambling on his own games to pay for his mother's medical bills then forced to continue the scam by his greedy father. Forced to become a night janitor at a museum, he eventually stole several pieces of what was considered everyday technology and traveled back through time to the 21st Century in order to become a superhero and therefore the celebrity he always desired to be. But although he initially sought to be a hero purely for fame and glory, in time he grew into the role he had chosen for himself and become a genuine hero. Not that being famous doesn't have its perks.

  • The Cameo: Only appeared once in the story thus far, where he relieved RWBY and JNPR so that they could go to the restroom. Instead, RWBY and JNPR went down to help in Gotham following Scarecrow's attack. He realizes this well after they've left.

    Captain Atom

Nathaniel Adams

A model soldier and member of the United States Army, Captain Nathaniel Adams volunteered one day to participate in an experiment at a top-secret US research facility known as the Continuum. There, scientists were studying the quantum field, trying to unravel the mysteries it held and exploit it for the benefit of the United States. Tasked with piloting an experimental dimensional-transfer vessel, something went wrong during the test and Captain Adams was seemingly vaporized. But instead of dying, he was instead transformed into a being of pure energy bound by an alien metal called dilustel that gives him the appearance of being human. Now bestowed with tremendous strength and durability that rivals Superman himself, Nathaniel Adams became the superhero known as Captain Atom, working alongside both the United States Army and the Justice League to defend the world.

  • The Cavalry: He, Firestorm and Shining Knight arrive right on time to help RWBY, Black Canary and Green Arrow to defeat a Grimm incursion.
  • Hand Blast: His main form of attack is shooting nuclear blasts from his hands.
  • Military Superhero: It's mentioned he's one of the few members of the Justice League who is also part of the US Army and he divides his time between the two organizations.
  • Mundane Utility: His radiation absorbing powers allows the other heroes to skip the long process of decontamination.
    • After the battle with Hogzilla, he uses this to render the porcine behemoth's flesh safe for consumption.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Captain Atom is very difficult to injure, even without the metal that creates his body. Being blasted by an atomic Breath Weapon is barely inconvenient for him.
  • Radiation-Induced Superpowers: His powers come from an accident that transformed him into an Energy Being capable of absorbing radiation, but he needs a containment suit to appear human.

    Steel

John Henry Irons

Once a brilliant engineer working as a weapons designer for AmerTek Industries, John Henry Irons became disgusted with his work and a weapon of his own design was used to kill innocent people. Moving to Metropolis and becoming a simple construction worker, Irons witnessed firsthand the fatal battle between Superman and the destructive being that came to be known as Doomsday. Inspired by Superman's example and sacrifice, John designed a suit of armor in Superman's image that granted him extreme strength, durability, endurance, and the ability to fly. Weiling a massive hammer, he fights for truth and justice, much as Superman himself.

  • The Ghost: Mentioned but hasn't appeared in person yet.

    Firestorm

Jason Rusch and Martin Stein

A fused being of two people rather than a single person, the superhero known to the public as Firestorm is the combined persona of Jason Rusch and Professor Martin Stein. Initially, Jason was simply the star quarterback of his high school football team while Professor Stein was a Nobel-prize winning physicist. But when a terrorist attack at Jason's school led to an accident with one of Professor Stein's creations, the Firestorm Matrix, the pair were fused together. Able to combine and separate at will, the unlikely pair proved to be a powerful combination, with Professor Stein the brains and Jason Rusch providing the brawn as they fight to defend the world against those who wish it harm.

  • Big Damn Heroes: Arrives alongside Captain Atom and Shining Knight to help RWBY against the Grimm unleashed on the ruins of Bludhaven.
  • Flaming Hair: The first thing they notice about him is that their head is literally on fire.
  • Flying Firepower: He's Firestorm for a reason, capable of flying without issue.
  • Two Beings, One Body: Jason and Martin join together to become Firestorm.

    Fire

Beatriz da Costa

A model from Brazil turned secret agent, Beatriz da Costa was exposed to an organic energy source called pyroplasm that gave her powerful pyrokinetic abilities and the ability to transform her entire body into a being of pure plasma. Working right alongside her longtime partner Ice as the superhero named Fire, she defends the world as best she can while making sure to look good while doing it.

  • Color Character: Used to be called Green Fire until she shortened it to just Fire.
  • The Ghost: Mentioned but hasn't appeared yet.

    The Atom

Raymond "Ray" Palmer

A brilliant scientist and one of the most intelligent beings on the Earth, second only to Lex Luthor himself, Dr. Raymond Palmer was a professor at Ivy University when he made a startling discovery. By using the matter of a white-dwarf star fragment that had somehow found its way to Earth and exposing it to focused ultraviolet light, one could shrink an object down to a fraction of its original size. Further refinement enabled him to expand said object back to its original size without causing it to explode following an accidental discovery during a spelunking expedition gone wrong. Expanding this to the development of specialized gear and a personal suit, Dr. Palmer began his career as the Atom. While he may prefer to use his abilities to explore the vast unknown of the subatomic world, as well as develop powerful new technologies to help countless people, when the times calls for it he's more than willing to put his own life on the line to protect others.

  • The Ghost: Mentioned but hasn't appeared in the story yet.
  • Sizeshifter: He can shrink to sub-atomic sizes at will.

    Plastic Man

Patrick O'Brian

Once nothing more than a petty crook who would do any job just for a bit of cash, Patrick "Eel" O'Brian was hired one day to rob a chemical plant with the rest of his gang, only for the job to go wrong when a shootout resulted in the death of a security guard and a ruptured chemical vat spilling its contents all over O'Brian. Left for dead by his crew, O'Brian miraculously survived and was taken in by a monastery, where he soon discovered that the chemicals had granted him the ability to shift and mold his entire body as though it was made of plastic. Shocked by his betrayal, and of the kindness of the monks who took him in despite his sordid past, O'Brian left his criminal life behind and began to use his newfound powers for good, becoming the costumed superhero known as Plastic Man.

  • The Ghost: He's been mentioned but hasn't appeared yet.
  • Reformed Criminal: It's been acknowledged he was a criminal when he obtained his powers, but reformed and now is a true member of the League.

The (Teen) Titans

    General

The premier team of young superheroes in the world, the Titans (originally the Teen Titans) were formed in Jump City, California in the months following the Imperium Invasion. With the exception of Starfire, who coincidentally just so happened to escape imprisonment and crashed landed into the city at the same time as the others arrived, the young and independent heroes Nightwing, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Miss Martian, and Wonder Girl were drawn to the city by the half-demon sorceress Raven. Together they formed the Teen Titans, fighting to defend the people of Jump City from some of the most dangerous and strangest villains the world has to offer.

  • Composite Character: Like the Justice League, they're a composite version that takes elements from various adaptations, including the original Titans comics, the Teen Titans (2003) cartoon, the Team from Young Justice (2010), and the live-action Titans (2018) show.
  • True Companions: With each other, of course, but also with Team RWBYJNPR, due to being closer in age with them than members of the Justice League. After Bruce betrayed RWBYJNPR's trust, causing them to make the collective decision to move out of Wayne Manor, their first reaction was to just move back in with the Titans. The only reason they didn't was because Titans Tower was still being rebuilt at the time.

    Nightwing

Richard "Dick" Grayson

Born as the only son to the famous Flying Graysons circus family, Richard "Dick" Grayson wanted nothing more than to follow in his family's footsteps. But everything changed when, during a performance in Gotham City, his parents were murdered by a racketeer. Orphaned at such a young age, Dick was quickly taken in by Bruce Wayne who just so happened to be in attendance during the Graysons' final act and sympathized with him over their shared loss. It wasn't long before Dick learned that his adoptive father's alter ego was the infamous Batman, and was taken under his father's wing as his ward: Robin, the Boy Wonder, a name that would come to define him for many years before personal conflicts with his father drove him to strike out on his own. Changing his name to Nightwing, Dick Grayson became the defender of Bludhaven, but after the city's destruction during the Darkseid War, he found himself in Jump City. Drawn there by Raven, Dick helped found the Teen Titans, and despite being the only member of the group with no powers to call his own, became their leader.

Although his relationship with Bruce has mostly recovered, and is more than willing to help his adoptive family whenever they need him back in Gotham, he spends the majority of his time in Jump City with the Titans. Following the destruction of Remnant at the hands of Brainiac, he is brought into the path of Teams RWBY and JNPR, where he and the rest of his teammates become some of their closest friends on the world they both share.

  • Badass Normal: The only member of the Titans without powers of his own, yet is able to kick just as much ass. Ruby acknowledges this as the real reason why the other Titans follow Nightwing into battle: his tenacity and determination, despite having the odds stacked against him, inspire them in turn.
  • Car Fu: Back when he was Robin, during the Darkseid War he rammed Kalibak with the Batmobile, saving a non-cyborg Victor Stone in the process.
  • Dual Wielding: His signature dual batons, which he electrifies if he wants to quickly take down an opponent.
  • It's Personal: After a month of putting the Titans through hell, culminating in Trigon taking over Raven's body, Dick shoots down an offer for the Justice League to take down Brother Blood.
Nightwing: "No! We have enough able-bodied Titans and Remnantians here take him in ourselves. After what that bastard did to Raven, he is ours.”
  • Love at First Sight: According to Donna he took one look at Kori and promptly fell in love. It took them years to get together.
  • Official Couple: In a relationship with Starfire.
  • Properly Paranoid: Much like Batman, he too has contingencies in case his teammates are unwillingly pitted against the team. Unlike Batman, he not only informed his team about these measures but also had them help him devise them. This comes in handy when Raven is possessed by Trigon; the mystical shield that she had him place around the island prevented her from devastating the rest of Jump City.
  • Secret-Keeper: Like Bruce Wayne, he was aware of Superman's secret identity but chose not to tell the other Titans since it's considered rude in the superhero community to reveal another hero's identity without permission.

    Wonder Girl

Donna Troy | Donna of Themyscira

Younger sister to Wonder Woman, Donna of Themyscira came to be following the end of the Second World War when her mother, Queen Hippolyta, modeled an infant out of clay which was then given life by her father, Zeus. Possessing many of the same powers as her older sister, Donna spent the next eight decades of her life on Paradise Island, training with the Amazons while hearing tales of her sister's exploits, whom she only met when Diana was forced to come back to Themyscira during the Darkseid War and request aid against the alien tyrant. Inspired by her sister's example, she soon struck out into Man's World after the Imperium Invasion, eventually arriving at Jump City where she became a founding member of the Teen Titans.

Helping bridge the gap between her homeland and the world of men, Donna uses her godly strength and her Lasso of Persuasion to fight the forces of evil and defend the innocent.

  • Action Girl: As with all Amazons.
  • Bash Brothers: She and Nightwing joke around and poke at each other, yet respect each other completely.
  • Composite Character: As noted below, her backstory in the fic is based on Diana's classic origin. Donna's own comics origin story is in flux so often that it literally has an entire page of Continuity Snarl dedicated entirely to her.
  • Decomposite Character: With her sister Diana. Donna's comic origin story is infamously convoluted due to numerous reboots making her original origin story unfeasible. The authors of this story solved that issue by simply giving Donna Diana's classic comic origin story, while Diana got her New 52/DCEU origin story.
  • Determinator: Weaponized using her Lasso of Persuasion. With it, she can override anyone with a weaker will than her own into doing what she wants. Nine times out of ten, her will is stronger.
  • Fish out of Water: Spent most of her life living among the isolated Amazons. As such, when she ventured out into the world after the Imperium Invasion, intending to follow in her sister's footsteps, she broke a lot of things.
  • Older Than They Look: She might be the youngest Amazon in Themyscira, but she's still over 80 years old.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation: As noted above, the authors decided to sidestep the complicated problem with Donna's comic origins by simply giving her Diana's original origin. Apparently, the in-universe reason why she was born this way was to spare her Hera's wrath (Diana presumably avoided it because she was conceived to be a weapon).

    Raven

Rachel "Raven" Roth

Raised in a separate dimension known as Azarath, Rachel "Raven" Roth had long been taught by the monks who took her and her mother in to control her emotions. This was because Raven was no mere child: she was a half-demon, daughter of the great and terrible Trigon who wanted nothing more than to use and exploit his daughter to enter the physical world and conquer it. Following Azarath's destruction at the hands of her father, Raven fled to Earth, where she came to Jump City and drew Nightwing, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Miss Martian, and Wonder Girl to her with the intention of having them be her protectors. Together with Starfire, they formed the Teen Titans, where she began to use her powerful demonic magic to defend the world.

But even with her friends by her side, Raven's father has never ceased his attempts to get to her, just waiting for the day for her control to slip and her mind to break, allowing him to get in.

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Chuckles when Jinx confesses to sometimes stealing candy when shopping, because as the ex-villain said, it's progress from having robbed banks.
  • Anti Anti Christ: Trigon hoped to use Raven as a vessel to get into Earth so he could conquer it, but instead Raven uses the powers she received from him in its defense.
  • Adaptational Name Change: In the comics, Raven's civilian alter ego is named 'Rachel Roth', while her actual name is simply 'Raven'. Here, her real name is 'Raven Roth' and she goes by 'Raven' as her superhero name but is legally listed as 'Rachel'.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite all the poking and prodding that she and Beast Boy inflict on each other, the two of them clearly love and care for each other deeply. Exemplified when Beast Boy comforted Raven inside her mind after weeks of stress has been wearing her down, and the two of them even start dating after Trigon is sealed away.
  • Cruel Mercy: While part of it was to keep him from becoming a martyr, her healing Blood enough to keep him from dying after Trigon was expelled from his body was mainly so that he could live knowing that he'd failed his master Trigon and that he'd rot in prison while everything that he and his family had built was destroyed.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Raven has a tendency to do this, especially towards Beast Boy.
  • Demonic Possession: Happens to her after Beast Boy is almost killed by Doctor Light. Luckily, the others are able to free her.
  • Emotionless Girl: Enforced. Raven's powers stem directly from her emotions. The stronger they are, the stronger her powers become. However, leaving her powers unchecked has the potential to allow her father to possess her, and so she spends much of her time in meditation to keep them in check.
  • Empath: Has the ability to sense emotions. This turns into a liability for her, as she can sense the increasing levels of stress afflicting Jump City during a massive crime wave, causing her to begin losing control of her emotions.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Specifically, a half-demon. Her mother was a human named Arella Roth, and her father was Trigon. Needless to say, her familial lineage has caused her plenty of strife.
  • Holy Burns Evil: Downplayed. Because she's only half demon, while Ruby's Silver Eye Powers crippled Trigon, it only gave Raven a mild sunburn.
  • One-Steve Limit: Invoked. Given that she shares the same forename as Raven Branwen, Qrow opts to call her Rachel instead.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: A telltale sign of her demonic heritage is when Raven's two purple eyes split into four red ones. When Trigon possesses her, this comes into full, terrifying effect.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Becomes an Official Couple with Beast Boy after sealing away her father.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Did not work well together with Jinx.

    Cyborg

Victor Stone

The star of Gotham University's football team, most popular man on campus, and already being scouted by dozens of NFL teams while having the highest grades in his class, Victor Stone nearly had it all. The only thing he seemed to lack was the most important thing to him: the attention of his father, Dr. Silas Stone of S.T.A.R. Labs, who always seemed to be more concerned with his latest experiment on a Mother Box, an alien supercomputer, than the lives of his own family. But that changed following a tragic car accident that killed Victor's mother and left him severely crippled and on death's door. Refusing to lose both his wife and son, an incredibly desperate Silas did the unthinkable: he used the Mother Box to save his son's life. The energy from the Mother Box transformed Victor into a cybernetic being the likes of which the world had never seen. He could tap into every computer system mankind had ever made and continues to make. He could transform his body into powerful energy weapons. In many ways, Victor was now a technological god, but all he saw himself was as a monster.

Denouncing his father for ruining his life and only now seeming to care for him, Victor left his home and found himself in Jump City. There he joined the Teen Titans, becoming the superhero known as Cyborg. Although he longs for the days where he was fully human, he remains committed to use his newfound gifts to help those who cannot help themselves.

  • Arm Cannon: Has one built-in, doubles as a sonic cannon and a plasma cannon.
  • Badass Bookworm: Even before becoming a cyborg, Victor was very good at alternating between his studies and playing as quarterback for his high school team.
  • Big Guy: Serves as this to the rest of the Titans.
  • Character Catchphrase: He tends to say 'Booyah' after a particularly hard-earned victory. Has extended towards the rest of the Titans as well, who'll say it in his stead when he isn't there.
  • Commonality Connection: He's quick to bond with Penny due to their nature as beings that are both machine and human, even allowing her to see his memories while they clean Brainiac's virus from within.
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Averted. Victor is almost ninety-percent cybernetics following his accident, only being saved by his father exposing him to a Mother Box, yet he is extremely boisterous, loud-mouthed, and generally, a fun guy to be around.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Serves as this for the rest of the Titans. He's so good with technology that he designed every that went into Titans Tower, some of which is better than what goes into the Watchtower.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: He is best friends with Garfield Logan/Beast Boy. The two frequently spend their time together playing video games or goofing off.
  • Missing Mom: His mother Elinore Stone died in the same car crash that would lead to him becoming Cyborg.
  • Parents as People: While he was close to his mother due her always making time to be with him at school and other important moments, his relationship with his father Silas was distant at best, and their relationship became even more complicated after he used a Mother Box to save Victor's life at the cost of making him almost completely machine.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Ever since he was young, Victor has preferred to do the right thing even if he got in trouble for violating rules, either as a human or as a superhero.

    Beast Boy

Garfield Logan

For as long as he could remember, Garfield Logan grew up around nature as his mother, a geneticist, studied the natural world. But his life seemed to be cut short when an expedition into Qurac led to him contracting Sakutia, a deadly disease with no known cure. Although his mother was able to prolong his life thanks to a series of near constant blood transfusions by the end, it wasn't enough. Until he just so happened to cross paths with the newly independent Imperium turned White Martian named M'gann M'orzz. When Qurac's civil war forced them to flee, M'gann had no choice but to use her blood to save Garfield when he was accidentally shot. This emergency blood transfusion, combined with the Sakutia still present within him as well an otherworldly connection he didn't even know about, caused his body to make a dramatic transformation. His skin and hair became a dark, forest green, and he gained the ability to transform into any animal he could think of.

Following the tragic death of his mother, Garfield and his adoptive half-sister traveled the world together, eventually arriving at Jump City where he became the fun-and-nature-loving superhero known as Beast Boy.

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Garfield's backstory here is a composite of his Young Justice (2010) and classic comics origins. He came down with Sakutia, and was only kept alive by modified blood transfusions from his mother. A transfusion from Miss Martian cured the disease and gave him shapeshifting powers, but his mother was killed shortly afterward by Quarci soldiers.
  • Animorphism: Can turn into any animal in the animal kingdom, so long as he understands how their basic biology works. Some animals are harder to turn into than others, however. Originally, he believed this to be due to a mixture between his Sakutia illness and a transfusion of M'gann's blood meant to cure him, but it later gets revealed that the real reason why Beast Boy can do what he does is that he's connected to the Red.
  • Berserk Button: Remnant!Raven indirectly presses Beast Boy's when he hears from Qrow how she considers her Voluntary Shapeshifting into a bird a curse, considering that a) her power doesn't come with any drawbacks (can't control when she changes shape, loss of sentience, etc.), and b) Ozpin granted her the power (after giving her all the details about it, ensuring she made an informed decision) with her consent, whereas Beast Boy had to go through catching a rare disease and losing his mother.
    • Just hearing Terra's name got an angry growl from Garfield. Regardless of whether or not she survived the setting's version of The Judas Contract he clearly hasn't forgiven her.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: His mother raised him in an animal sanctuary inside Qurac working as a geneticist. After he contracted Sakutia, she spent many years keeping him alive through the use of blood transfusions, and later died in front of him and M'gann while they were trying to flee the Quraci Civil War.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Gar is a strict vegan, and he's certainly not going to eat Hogzilla itself, but after all the trouble they went through in stopping it after three whole days, he has no qualms about helping cook it and watching the others eat it.
  • The Heart: Arguably this to the Titans, or at the very least to Raven herself. When Doctor Light almost kills him, she goes absolutely apeshit afterward, leading to her getting possessed by her father.
  • Mundane Utility: Helps the others prep Hogzilla's meat by forming bear claws to make shredded pork.
  • Official Couple: With Raven after her father is sealed.
  • The Pig-Pen: It's noted that his room tends to be rather messy.
  • Power Misidentification: After being shot and nearly killed by Doctor Light, Beast Boy encounters an emissary of the Red, who informs him that while the blood transfusion from M'gann and Sakutia did play a part in his gaining his powers, it's far from the whole story, and that he's only begun to tap his full potential, explaining that he could do things like transform into alien animals, split his mind and turn into a swarm of wasps, etc.
  • Semantic Superpower: Brought up by the emissary of the Red, who claims that, once Beast Boy really starts tapping into his powers, he'll be able to turn into things like single-celled lifeforms, aliens, multiple animals (a swarm of wasps for example), even other people.
  • You Remind Me of X: Blake can't help but be reminded of Sun when she meets Garfield.

    Starfire

Koriand'r | Kori Anders

Hailing from the planet Tamaran, Princess Koriand'r was the pride and joy of her family and people. Until she was betrayed by her jealous older sister, Komand'r (later known as Blackfire) who sold her into slavery to the Citadel, enemies of Tamaran who enslaved both sisters and subjected them to brutal experiments. These experiments amplified the Tamaraneans' natural ability to absorb ultraviolet radiation to levels never before seen by her people. No longer could she simply absorb UV-rays in order to fly. They now gave her tremendous strength and durability, along with the ability to condense concentrated ultraviolet energy into what she called "starbolts".

Escaping from her captors, Koriand'r crashed landed in Jump City, California, coinciding with the gathering of other young superheroes by Raven to help deal with her father, the demon Trigon. There she became Starfire, a founding member of the Teen Titans, as well as the love of her life, and fellow Titan, Dick Grayson. With her tremendous strength and boundless enthusiasm, Starfire is a bright light in everyone's lives.

  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: Starfire, with her ability to throw energy blasts from her hands or eyes, fly, and perform incredible feats of strength, is one of the strongest members of the Titans. Yet she's also a complete sweetheart who's described as a bright sun in everyone's life.
  • Cuddle Bug: She is very affectionate towards others and is called a "hugger" by Yang, with Ruby being a regular target of her hugs.
  • Custom Uniform of Sexy: While not stepping over the line into Stripperific, Starfire's outfit does reveal plenty of skin. This is both due to her people's views making her feel comfortable showing off her skin and the practical reasoning of her needing to absorb as much ultraviolet radiation as possible in order for her powers to work.
  • Fanservice Model: Works as one when not on the clock.
  • The Glomp: Happily greets both Ruby and Yang this way, going so far as to spin the former around like a doll.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: Orange skin, but otherwise fits this perfectly.
  • Interspecies Romance: With Dick Grayson, a human, while she is a Tamaranean.
  • Magic Kiss: Can learn languages by kissing another. However, she does recognize that on Earth, kissing a person without their permission can be a major no-no, so she usually requests their permission unless the situation calls for it. That doesn't necessarily mean that the individual in question understands exactly what they're signing up for, as Weiss can attest to.

    Miss Martian

M'gann M'orzz | Megan Morse

Although technically alive for hundreds of years, the being who became known as M'gann M'orzz spent the vast majority of it as part of a collective hive mind known as the Imperium, often incorrectly referred to as White Martians. As part of the Imperium, she participated in both the invasion and destruction of Mars, and later the invasion of Earth itself. But it was during this time when the Imperium drone who became M'gann came into physical contact with J'onn J'onzz, the last surviving Martian. Their DNAs bonded, and M'gann M'orzz came to be. Now separated from the Imperium's hive mind, she quickly grew disgusted with everything her former people were doing and helped assist the newly formed Justice League in destroying them. With the Imperium defeated and the world saved, M'gann was adopted by J'onn J'onzz as his adoptive niece and traveled the world to find herself. During her travels, she met and befriended the young Garfield Logan who became her adoptive younger brother after she was forced to give an emergency blood transfusion with her own transformed blood to save his life, which accidentally gave him similar shapeshifting abilities as her own. Later still, the pair found themselves in Jump City, drawn there by Raven where they became founding members of the Teen Titans.

With powerful psychic powers, intangibility, super strength and more, M'gann became the superheroine Miss Martian. Together with the rest of her friends and adoptive family, she defends the people of Earth against all who would threaten them.

  • Adaptation Species Change: Rather than being a White Martian like she is in canon, here she’s a member of the Imperium (who are expies of the former).
  • Defector from Decadence: Used to be another mindless drone serving the Imperium, however an encounter with J'onn J'onzz during the invasion of Earth led to his DNA merging with her own. This enabled her mind to break away from the Imperium's hive mind, and she quickly grew disgusted with what they were doing and assisted the Justice League in defeating them. Tellingly, she considers herself to be more of a Martian than an Imperium.
  • Distaff Counterpart: To her adopted uncle, J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter. Thanks to the merged DNA, she has the same powers as he does, which includes telepathy, shapeshifting, intangibility, flight, Martian Vision, super strength, and super durability. She also shares his weakness to fire.
  • Family of Choice: Views J'onn as her uncle and Garfield as her brother.
  • My Species Doth Protest Too Much: The only heroic member of the Imperium. Tellingly, she willingly assisted the nascent League in destroying them and doesn't lose too much sleep over the fact that they are gone.
  • Telepathy: Just like her uncle, M'gann can read the thoughts of others and speak with them in turn. She frequently uses this in her role as a child therapist, and even more so when working with RWBYJNPR.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted. In fact, she is the therapist, and when RWBYJNPR were living with the Titans, they frequently had sessions with her to talk about their issues.

The Bat-Family

    In General
  • Badass Normal: Like Batman, none of them has powers, but they are the most effective crime-fighters in all of Gotham.
  • Dysfunction Junction: The Bat-Family is notoriously one of the most screwed up superhero families in comic book canon. They've all suffered an endless list of traumas that have mentally-unbalanced them to near instability and have caused them to manipulate and screw over not just their enemies, but also their friends and each other multiple times. Some (such as Jason) have even tried to kill off members of the family. While their relations with each other are much better here (mostly due to Bruce being more emotionally available and actually acting like a decent father), there's still clearly a lot of baggage they all need to work through.
  • Legacy Character: The identity of Robin has been passed by its members since Batman and Robin first debuted. Dick Grayson was the first, Jason Todd the second, Tim Drake the third, Stephanie Brown the fourth, and Damian Wayne is the fifth and current Robin.
  • Super Team: While they have the carte blanche to work independently, they also work together frequently whenever necessary.

    Robin

Damian Wayne

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In the comics, Damian loved and idolized his mother and didn't reject her until she betrayed him and tried to have him killed. Here, he hates her the moment he learns that he was a Child by Rape, and his father was the victim.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: He tends to get on the rest of the Bat-Family's nerves thanks to his difficult attitude. However, they still love and support him, and he does to them too, even if he won't admit it.
  • Berserk Button: Threatening his pets. Specifically, after Bat-Cow escapes from her enclosure and wanders into RWBY's room, he threatens to stab a furious Weiss if she even touches Bat-Cow after the bovine tried to eat Weiss' hair.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: On the younger side of the Bat-Family, and has quite an attitude. Tellingly, Dick mentions over the phone while he's still in Gotham that Damian is 'still a little shit.'
  • Child by Rape: His mother, Talia al Ghul, drugged Batman and had her way with him. It's one of the reasons why he doesn't like her.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Damian was raised in the League of Shadows, a notorious group of assassins that were responsible for numerous tragedies across human history. He himself acknowledges this, yet also believes that for how horrific the League of Shadows were to him and Cassandra Cain, the results speak for themselves. He's quite proud of himself for managing to make through it all.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Along with Jason Todd, Damian is the only member of the Bat-Family willing to employ lethal force, but only if absolutely necessary. Still, should a criminal die on his watch, he won't lose any sleep over it. He even gets into a short debate with his father over the ethics of keeping Scarecrow alive just so he could potentially hurt more people in the future.
  • I Have No Son!: Inverted. He disowned his mother after finding out how exactly he was conceived.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Damian is notoriously difficult to get along with, yet he's still a genuinely heroic individual who looks up to his father and wants to honor his legacy. He may have different views on how to best deal with Gotham's criminal underbelly, best illustrated when he subtly advocated that they kill Scarecrow during his attack on Gotham, yet he still wants to keep people safe more than anything else.
  • Precocious Crush: He's the second youngest member of the Batfamily, and several of their interactions imply he has a crush on the slightly older Ruby.
  • You Remind Me of X: Ruby mentions he reminds her of Weiss back when they first met. Even Weiss concedes Ruby has a point.

    Red Hood

Jason Todd

  • Adaptational Heroism:
    • This version of Jason Todd is more heroic than most versions. While he's still prone to lethal force and has an abrasive personality, he's a full-fledged member of the Bat-Family and genuinely sees Bruce's other wards/proteges as his adoptive siblings, to the point of being protective of them. He also hits it off with the optimistic and energetic Ruby over their love of guns, clearly defining him as a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
    • While he does despise most criminals, he genuinely sympathizes and pities those who were forced into villainy through tragic circumstances, like Two-Face. That's a trait that no other version of Jason has ever had.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: His relationship with the Bat-Family is much better here than it is in the comics. In the comics, he's an explicit Black Sheep and his inclusion with the family is a revolving door. Here he's a fully integrated member who even lives at the Manor again and accepts the others as his family. While there is some tension over his lack of a Thou Shalt Not Kill rule, he's perfectly willing to compromise and when he does kill, it's usually in situations of self-defense and in defense of others.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He shields Cass from having to watch Black Mask gun down some thugs while they're undercover with Jaune and Pyrrha.
  • Force and Finesse: He's the Force when paired up with Batgirl. While he's been trained in martial arts, he prefers to use brute strength and his guns while fighting. This contrasts Cass' grace and agility.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Having grown up on the streets means he, better than anyone, knows how to infiltrate a gang. This means that he, unlike the others, manages to actually pass Black Mask's initiation at one of his recruitment rallies. The others waste no time mocking him for this.
  • Gun Nut: He really, really likes guns. So much so that the sheer engineering marvel that is Crescent Rose Mk. II drives him to Manly Tears.
  • The Infiltration: He infiltrates one of Black Mask's recruitment rallies with Jaune and Pyrrha. Unlike them, he played his part a little too well and actually got past initiation, forcing the rest of his team to intervene and help extract him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he can be a real asshole and has no Thou Shalt Not Kill rule like the rest of the Bat-Family, he still genuinely wants to help people.
  • Pet the Dog: One of the first signs of how much kinder this version of Jason is when he helps Ruby work through her complicated feelings over Ozpin and how he most likely knew about her Silver-Eye Powers and hid them from her. Through simple prodding and reasoning, he helps her come to the most likely conclusion for Ozpin's reason for doing so — to protect her from whoever wiped out the other Silver-Eyed Warriors.
  • Pragmatic Adaptation: In the comics, Jason was revived via Cosmic Retcon due to Infinite Crisis (aka Superboy-Prime's infamous punch to reality), and then regained his memories after being dumped into a Lazarus Pit at the same time as Ra's al Ghul. Due to how convoluted that was, the writers simply stuck with the much simpler and standard Lazarus Pit revival, like his animated movie counterpart.
  • Refuse to Rescue the Disliked: While he's not a cold-blooded murderer, he will not save a villain if they're sufficiently vile enough. He was perfectly willing to leave Black Mask to die after he got shot by Two-Face, stunning his teammates with his callousness.
  • Sand In My Eyes: Hilariously driven to Manly Tears after Ruby's exhibition of Crescent Rose Mk. II. When called out on it by Steph, he claims this excuse — which fools absolutely no one.

    Red Robin

Timothy "Tim" Drake

  • Battle Couple: With Stephanie Brown.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: He and Stephanie get injured while stopping Mr. Freeze, forcing them to sit out the mission to stop Poison Ivy.
  • Properly Paranoid: He's suspicious of most business executives that are connected to criminal investigations. Mostly because those executives tend to be involved in whatever criminality that's being investigated. As Ren and Nora unfortunately learn, he's usually right.

    Spoiler

Stephanie Brown

  • Battle Couple: With Tim Drake. She even thinks beating up criminals and saving Gotham is a good substitute for a regular date night.
  • Cape Snag: Subverted. Mr. Freeze manages to freeze her in place by snagging her cape with his cryo-gun, but she manages to tear it off quickly. She ruefully comments that she liked that cape.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: She and Tim get injured while stopping Mr. Freeze, forcing them to sit out the mission to stop Poison Ivy.

    Batgirl

Cassandra Cain

  • Age Lift: She's thirteen, which is several years younger than she usually is in the comics, where she is usually somewhere between the ages of Jason Todd and Tim Drake.
  • Badass Adorable: As a consequence of the Age Lift.
  • Combat Clairvoyance: Like in the comics, Cassandra has been trained to read body language so thoroughly, she can easily predict the movements of most opponents.
  • Force and Finesse: She's the Finesse to Red Hood's force, being smaller and much more graceful when compared to Jason's blunt force, reading her opponents' movements and targeting their weak spots.
  • Oh, Crap!: Her reaction when seeing Solomon Grundy is awake.
  • The Quiet One: Because of her upbringing, she doesn't speak much unless necessary.
  • Silent Snarker: Sure, she doesn't speak much but her body language can be pretty snarky.
  • Tyke Bomb: Much like Damian, she was raised from birth by the League of Assassins to be the ultimate warrior. Unlike Damian, who was generally treated as a prince in between the horrific training, Cassandra had generally no bright spots during her time there, which is partly why she does not believe in killing like he does.

    Batwoman

Katherine "Kate" Kane

  • Honorary True Companion: She's not an official member of the Batfamily, but helps them often and is seen as family too.
  • Military Superhero: Served in the army until she was dismissed when her sexuality was exposed.

    Oracle

Barbara Gordon

  • Amicable Exes: She and Dick Grayson used to date back when he was Robin and she was Batgirl, but broke up. Currently there are no hard feelings between them, or towards his current girlfriend Starfire.
  • Handicapped Badass: Stuck in a wheelchair but can still kick plenty of ass.
  • Mission Control: For the Bat-Family, and generally any mission that takes place in Gotham. She also frequently coordinates with the Justice League's Mission Control during particularly dangerous and wide-scale attacks.

    Alfred Pennyworth

Alfred Pennyworth

  • The Confidant: Serves as this for Bruce, and considers himself a good listener, which Weiss appreciates.
  • Parental Substitute: He was Bruce's guardian after he lost his parents, and the rest of the Batfamily sees him as a parental figure too.
  • Servile Snarker: Well yeah, he serves dutifully and loyally while occasionally making witty comments.

The Green Lantern Corps

    Hal Jordan

Harold "Hal" Jordan

  • The Ace: Hal ranks among the top members of the Corp and might even be the best with Sinestro's desertion. Considering he fights on even ground with Raven, forcing her to retreat, this isn't just boasting on his part.
  • Ace Pilot: Former pilot of the US Air Force and his skills translates very well as a Lantern.
  • Fight Off the Kryptonite: Notes to himself that the GL corps have taken measures to make their constructs more resilient towards yellow energy, even if it eventually weakens and destroys them.
  • The Leader: Non-official leader of the GL task force that ambushes Brainiac.
  • Mr. Exposition: He serves as the main expositor to Qrow, Willow and Whitley about the history of Earth and its inhabitants alongside Kyle and Guy.

  • Cowboy Cop: Former police officer from Baltimore and no one would call him by-the-book as a Lantern.
  • I Know Madden Kombat: Most of his constructs are based around sports equipment. At one point he conjures an army of linebackers to tackle Brainiac drones.

    Kilowog
  • The Big Guy: He's pretty big and strong, even without adding his Lantern powers.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: As always, he serves as trainer for new Lanterns, and while never nice, he does it to ensure they survive the most.
  • Fights Like a Normal: He prefers to fight up close and personal using his brute force.
  • Genius Bruiser: He's very smart besides his natural strength.
  • Last of His Kind: He's the last surviving Bolovaxian.

    Arisia Rrab

    Tomar-Re
  • Bash Brothers: With Kilowog, being the most experienced Lanterns on their group who have fought together for several years.
  • Bird People/Fish People: Being a Xudarian, he looks like a combination of a humanoid fish and a bird.
  • My Greatest Failure: While he doesn't say it out loud, being unable to stop Brainiac from taking Kandor and failing to help Krypton avert its destruction still pains him.

    Mogo
  • Big Damn Heroes: Arrives just at the end of the battle on Brainiac's ship to trap him inside a box, and it's only due to the Coluan's quick thinking that he's able to escape the GL trap.
  • The Dreaded: Braniac immediately flees once Mogo shows up. Keep in mind that Brainiac is a Superman level combatant, who has been attacking planets for centuries and who was willing to take on hundreds of Green Lanterns at once.
  • Genius Loci: He's a sentient planet and a member of the Green Lantern Corps.
  • Gentle Giant: One of the strongest beings in the entire universe, but it's a pretty pleasant fellow. He's also the only one who can make Brainiac retreat in defeat.
  • Pleasure Planet: His landscape is beautiful and he ensures that the structures and accommodations within him are pleasant for visitors.
  • World's Strongest Man: Mogo is easily the most powerful of all the Green Lanterns.

    Stel
  • Mechanical Lifeforms: He's a sentient robot with enough willpower to be chosen as a member of the Green Lanterns.
  • The Stoic: Being a robot and all that, he's not very expressive, but certainly capable of a degree of Tranquil Fury.

    Katma Tui

    Boodikka
  • Blood Knight: Like most of her kind the Bellatrixians, Boodikka relishes in combat.
  • Handicapped Badass: She might be missing a hand, but it doesn't stop her from using her ring effectively.
  • Human Aliens: Other than some minor differences she's very similar to humans.

    Isamot Kol
  • Bash Brothers: With his partner the Rannian Vath Sarn.
  • Determinator: Brainiac breaks both of his arms, so he uses his tongue as substitute to use his ring.
  • Lizard Folk: He looks like a humanoid dinosaur or lizard, and his species are called Lizarkon.
  • Odd Friendship: He and Vath originate on planets that were at war, and despite initial trouble, they became good friends and partners.

    Vath Sarn
  • Body-Count Competition: He and Kol engage in one to see who destroys the larger number of Brainiac drones.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: He and Kol didn't get along at first due to their species being at war until just recently, but they have grown to be close comrades.
  • Human Aliens: As a Rannian, he's nearly identical to a human.

    Dkrtzy RRR
  • The Cracker: Alongside C.H.A.D. and Stel, this is their function during the attack on Brainiac's ship.
  • The Speechless: They aren't capable of speaking, but can at least communicate by blinking.
  • Starfish Aliens: They are a sentient mathematical equation, can't get more alien than that.
  • Support Party Member: While a true GL corp, Dkrtzy serves better in a support role, creating barriers, hacking and throwing pulses that disorient his foes.

    C.H.A.D.
  • Mechanical Lifeforms: Like Stel, C.H.A.D. is a sentient robot with enough willpower to be a member of the GL Corps.
  • More Dakka: His constructs usually take the form of gatling guns.
  • Tranquil Fury: While his tone of voice doesn't change much, Arisia can tell he's genuinely upset at Brainiac's atrocities and trying to hack him.

    Jessica Cruz

Jessica Cruz

  • Birds of a Feather: She and Jaune immediately hit it off when they meet each other.

  • New Meat: Noted to be a new trainee of the Green Lantern Corp.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: Her first construct was a Keyblade, that should tell you everything.

The Legion of Superheroes

    Saturn Girl

Imra Ardeen

  • Hero of Another Story: She's been keeping an eye on RWBY and JNPR ever since they arrived to Earth and has prevented at least five attempts to kill them, all in order to ensure they inspire the creation of the LOSH in the future.
  • Human Aliens: She's a Titanian, who descend from humans who settled on Saturn's moon Titan, making her almost identical to a regular human.
  • Mundane Utility: When she's taking the orders of RWBY, Qrow, and the Schnee's, Blake notices how she seems to be writing down their orders before they even say anything, the implication being that she's using her telepathy to take their orders.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Not really stupidity, but she pretends to be helpless against the Mad Hatter when in fact she's a very skilled telepath.
  • Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: Yang is a bit confused at her name. This is justified since she comes from the future and a different planet.

  • Long-Lost Relative: Etrigan is Raven's nephew, being Trigon's grandson through one of his many sons.

    Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex

  • Batman Gambit: Learning that Chronos is after Fame Through Infamy, Hex is able to trick him into sticking around despite being held by the man at gunpoint by challenging him to a Quick Draw. It works because not only is Chronos a fan of Jonah Hex, he'd also have a chance to build his own reputation by outshooting a Living Legend. Jonah then tricks Chronos in looking away and decks him in the face, knocking him out.
  • Bounty Hunter: He's a classical Wild West bounty hunter that goes after outlaws and criminals.
  • Broken Pedestal: He grew disillusioned with the Confederacy and their goals and tried to defect, but he failed to join the Union so he simply fled west.
  • Collector of the Strange: Has collected a lot of weird gadgets, artifacts, and other trinkets over the course of his adventures, which Jinny inherits.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Jonah doesn't follow a strict code of honor like other heroes. He's perfectly willing to kill bad guys and cheat in duels if it'll keep him alive. After goading Chronos into a Quick Draw, he distracts Chronos long enough to run over and knock him out cold with a punch.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His father was an abusive alcoholic who sold him to an apache tribe as a slave. The son of the chief tried to kill him twice for liking the same woman, and had to kill the chief (who was also his adoptive father) in self-defense after killing the son too. When he grew disillusioned with the Confederacy and tried to defect, a Union commander tried to starve him and several other defectors, making Hex kill him too. Now seen as a traitor in the South and a murderer in the North, he traveled westwards to be a bounty hunter.
  • The Dreaded: He's the most feared bounty hunter in the West, and his sole presence is more than enough to intimidate some drunkards.
  • How Did You Know? I Didn't: After shooting a robber working for Chronos and is revealed to be a robot, Qrow asks him if he knew he wasn't really alive. Jonah answers he didn't.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite wishing to never see the team again (as that would mean more time travel headaches), Jonah does show his appreciation to RWBY and Qrow once they've gone back to the present by keeping all the gear they had to leave behind and arranging things for his descendent Jinny to deliver it all to Ruby with a letter wishing them well.
  • Seen It All: He's met enough time travelers that he can identify that RWBY, Imra and Qrow are not from the time period just by their manner of speech.
  • Still Wearing the Old Colors: Hex is still wearing his Confederate officer uniform years after the Civil War.
  • Two-Faced: The right side of his face is heavily scarred, leaving his eye unnaturally wide open and exposing some teeth due to a hole in his cheek.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Even Hex notes how the sheer number of time travelers he's met is unusual.

    Jinny Hex

Virginia "Jinny" Hex

    Nu'Bia

Nu'Bia | Wonder Woman

    Apache Chief
  • Age Lift: Apache Chief was born in the modern day in Superfriends. Here, he lived in the same era as Jonah Hex.
  • Badass Native: An apache warrior who happens to be able to alter his size at will.
  • No Name Given: We never learn his real name, he's only known by his title as chief.
  • Sizeshifter: By yelling "Inuk Chuk" he can grow up to fifty feet in length.
  • Trainstopping: After growing into a giant, the Apache Chief stops the runaway train engine from careening into a canyon, saving dozens of Native American artifacts from being lost.

    Hawkman

Carter Hall

  • The Ghost: Mentioned by Hawkgirl but hasn't appeared yet.
  • Reincarnation: Hawkgirl confirms that Hawkman follows his original incarnation of reincarnating through time.

    Phantom Stranger

Unknown

  • The Atoner: Described as being on an eternal quest for redemption.
  • The Ghost: Mentioned but hasn't appeared yet.
  • Mission from God: Lex Luthor mentions he, like the Spectre, serves The Presence as His enforcer, but whereas the Spectre delivers vengeance, the Stranger looks for redemption.

    The Spectre

Jim Corrigan | Aztar

  • And Show It to You: The Spectre first put his fist through Salem's chest (before she realizes it, no less) and crushes her heart, then he rips it out when he is called back. Salem's Complete Immortality restores her heart, of course, but she's still shaken by the encounter.
  • Been There, Shaped History: What happened to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are said to be his doing.
  • Beware the Superman: The Spectre is incredibly powerful and without restraint he could cause untold amounts of casualties.
  • The Dreaded: By far and away the most feared "superhero" on the planet, being the Wrath of God and all. To demonstrate this to Salem and her inner circle, Lex Luthor tells them of a story where an innocent man from New York was convicted of a crime he didn't commit thanks to faulty evidence. Before he could be executed, the Spectre appeared and demanded the accused be spared and exonerated, lest the Angel of Vengeance "punish every single person involved in his murder" — in this case, the state government of New York. And since the government is democratic, that meant all twenty million residents of the entire state. The worst part, however, is that he really could have killed all those people, and there is not a single person who could've done anything to stop it.
  • God's Hands Are Tied: Specifically they are tied by The God. While one of the most powerful beings in existence, the Presence keeps him on a very short leash. Otherwise, he would kill every sinner on the planet, and considering the broad definition of "sin", that might as well be everyone on the planet.
  • Heroic Host: Jim Corrigan is a police detective who was killed in the 1940s and became the host of The Spectre, allowing him to keep the entity on a somewhat controlled stance.
  • Physical God: Or at least close to it, being the Spirit of Vengeance in the service of the Presence. His first appearance in the story has him almost kill Salem in spite of her Complete Immortality, only stopping when the Presence tells him to let up.
  • World's Strongest Man: By Luthor's grudging estimation, The Spectre is perhaps the single most powerful "superhero" on planet Earth, even more powerful than Superman.

    The Rocket Red Brigade
  • The Ghost: Mentioned but they haven't appeared yet.
