"Why kill a man when you can kill an idea?"

Played By: Navid Negahban

  • Beard of Evil: He shaves it off in Season 2, however.
  • Big Bad: The first one of the series. His plans to launch a terrorist attack on the United States serve as the driving source of conflict for Seasons 1-2.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: With Walden, who is an unrepentant war criminal that seeks only the presidency of the United States regardless of whom he tramples along the way
  • Beardness Protection Program: Shaves his beard and takes off the glasses permanently. This makes him unrecognisable even to the viewer.
  • Burial at Sea: After all, the Americans give him a ceremonial burial. Apparently, the same one given to Osama bin Laden.
  • Fake Nationality: The Iranian-born Navid Negahban plays the Palestinian Arab and Pakistan-born Abu Nazir.
  • First-Name Basis: About the only person to consistently call Brody "Nicholas".
  • Meaningful Name: Abu Nazir means, roughly, "father of foreboding" in Arabic.
  • Offstage Villainy: Most of his heinous acts are part of his backstory and not shown onscreen.
  • Suicide by Cop: He lets himself get shot by an FBI team
  • Thanatos Gambit: He gives up his own life to convince the CIA his plans are no longer a threat. He kills Walden - the man he was specifically after - shortly beforehand to complete the illusion... and then the bomb goes off during Walden's funeral held at Langley.
  • Visionary Villain: He believes that even if it takes 300 years, his cause will prevail.

    Walker

Thomas Walker

Played By: Chris Chalk

  • Cold Sniper: And the best marksmanship of his unit.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Killed by Brody, his blood brother, under orders from Nazir
  • He Knows Too Much: Kills a hunter who witnesses his target practice in the woods. In turn, he knows too much about Brody and Nazir and gets killed for it.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The unlikeliness of Walker missing several consecutive shots doesn't go unnoticed by other characters.
  • Pet the Dog: Bounds and gags a woman during an assassination. This witness seems like a prime candidate for termination, but he leaves the scene without harming the woman, and even shows some sympathy towards her.

    Raquim

Raquim Faisel

Played By: Omid Abtahi

  • Love Makes You Evil: He is not really committed to the terrorist cause, he is mostly in it dragged by his wife.

    Aileen

Aileen Morgan

Played By: Marin Ireland

  • Dating What Daddy Hates: She falls in love and marries an Arab man, whom his father, a wealthy oil baron, despises on account of his ethnicity.

    Roya

Roya Hammad

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/RoyaHammad_3125.jpg

  • Foil: She is one to Tom Walker. They are both terrorists working for Nazir but the ways they operate are polar opposites. Walker was constantly hiding from the public while Roya is a public figure, Walker was an active perpetrator as a Cold Sniper while Roya is a Non Action Girl more into recruitment and handling.
  • The Handler: Brody's for Nazir.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: The youngest of six siblings.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: After being captured, she seems to open up a "Not So Different" Remark during an interrogation, only to immediately deny any commonality and end the debrief with an enraged Hannibal Lecture directed at Carrie.
  • Villainous Breakdown: She is reduced to a screaming wreck after she is captured.

    M.M

M.M

Played By: Mido Hamada

  • Ax-Crazy: Violent enough to gun down seven federal agents with no remorse.
  • The Dreaded: Feared by the CIA for his ruthlessness.
  • Fake Nationality: German-Egyptian Mido Hada plays a Lebanese soldier of Hezbollah.
