Gender Flip Versions

  • Gendered Outfit: Often, the Nyotalia characters will wear a costume adapted from the canon counterpart, resulting in things like Prussia's miniskirt and Seychelle's swim trunks.
  • Rule 63: A canonical example, no less!

    The Axis

North Italy

Voiced by: Rena Maeda (JP), Brina Palencia (EN)

"Falling asleep is quite human, there is nothing wrong about it, right?"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/789b0cea_e470_4b58_8479_90dd4374be94.jpeg

North Italy's female counterpart, a strong and cheerful woman with unusual bout of physical capability.

Itako is her nickname, she's also known as Alice (officially suggested name), Felice/Felicia, or Daisy Vargas (by Japanese fandom).

  • Action Girl: Pretty much implied. Estonia commented that she "looks badass" as opposed to the rather weak appearance of her male counterpart, while Himaruya described her as being strong. It appears that she can display an unusual bout of physical strength when angered, is braver and more willing to fight than Italy himself.
  • Badass Adorable: Complimented by Estonia.
  • Cute Bruiser: She seems to like to punch the people who are the target of her anger, and unlike her male counterpart, is said to display great physical strength when she becomes emotional.
  • Genki Girl: A rather emotional, strong-willed, and cheerful big sister-type who "lives for love".
  • Idiot Hair: Used to be depicted with a curl on the left and now it's on the right
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With fem!Romano, especially in fanon.
  • Super-Strength: Happens whenever she gets angry or emotional, much to the shock of her male counterpart.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Wears her hair in this style and is a Genki Action Girl.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Pizza!

Germany

Voiced by: Rika Zaiki (JP), Terri Doty (EN)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f185468c_1091_4d90_949b_38ff9b87e85c.jpeg

The female version of Germany. Tall, cool, and serious. Not so different from her male counterpart.

Doiko/Dokuko are her often used nickname, she's also known as Monica (officially suggested name), Nyoitsu (on Pixiv), or Louise.

Japan

Voiced by: Mai Goto (JP), Alexis Tipton (EN)
"Let's just calmly go somewhere safe without aiming the bat at anybody."

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/003ecd88_0891_4c83_a382_5327ae6cf2c1.jpeg

Japan's female counterpart, a shy Yamato Nadeshiko who yearns for the West a bit.

Nichiko and Nihoko are two names used by some of the Japanese fandom for the female Japan, while her fanon name has been given as Honda Sakura.

  • A-Cup Angst: She appears to be rather flat-chested compared to many other nations on this page, and many fanworks have her being self-conscious about her lack of assets compared to other female nations'.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change/Important Haircut: Himaruya says that Japan used to have much longer hair until she cut it to its current length after opening up her borders. She wanted to prove she'll be able to try to get along with the rest of the world.
  • Kimono Is Traditional: Unlike the other two of the Axis, she is usually not depicted in any sort of military uniform, but rather in a simple kimono.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She is seen wearing pink in her official character art and is the female counterpart of Japan.
  • Pseudo-Romantic Friendship: Himaruya's early character notes described her as having a "complicated yearning for America".
  • Shrinking Violet: According to Himaruya, she is not much of an outgoing person. Additionally, she seems to always have a shy expression, befitting of one with a Yamato personality.
  • Tareme Eyes: Himaruya designed her with these kind of eyes as a contrast to her male counterpart's Monochromatic Eyes.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: According to Word of Himaruya, she was described as one in his early character notes on the Gender Flip versions.
