Spade Family
Jack Spade
A "heel" in the Duffy Wrestling League (DWL) who is Ace's older brother, and the proprietor of the DWL.
- Control Freak: Jack keeps everything around him on lock, and he refuses to tolerate any disobedience and rarely takes suggestion.
- Mean Character, Nice Actor: He's a heel in the ring, but outside of his wrestling persona he's a loving husband and father.
- The Unfavorite: Implied through flashbacks that show Jack's father Tom being more caring and loving towards Jack's younger brother Ace, in contrast to his more mean-spirited and belittling treatment of Jack, up to including physical altercations with him in front of Ace and constant demeaning comments thrown at Jack.
Ace Spade
A "face" in the DWL who is Jack's younger brother.
- Sticky Fingers: He has a bad habit of shoplifting from the local store. Helen, the cashier, knows about it, but has let him get away with it on a number of occasions because Ace's father was always good to her family.
Staci Spade
Jack's wife.
- Wet Blanket Wife: She's visibly frustrated with Jack's career as wrestler, nevermind the fact that he also has to juggle the DWL as a small business enterprise that doesn't bring much money with a second job as a mower salesman that doesn't bring much into their household either, and is seen complaining about it. One could chalk that up to Jack's Skewed Priorities, but most of Staci's screentime is devoted to her showing her dissaproval of anything related with Wrestling, specially in later episodes.
Thomas Spade
Son of Jack and Staci Spade.
Tom "King" Spade
Jack and Ace's father, a former wrestler who was the proprietor of the DWL.
- Abusive Parents: Towards Jack. He engaged in physical altercations with Jack with little provocation (and sometimes in front of Jack's little brother Ace) that looked to be more rough than the usual Wrestling style of fighting, and dissaproves of any ideas Jack had about the future of the DWL and the Wrestling business.
- Cigar Chomper: He's shown enjoying a cigar in a few scenes.
- Pet the Dog: He seemed to be a loving father to Ace, openly admitting in front of his family (specially Jack) that he hopes Ace devotes his future to Football instead of Wrestling, and given his struggles to keep the DWL afloat that drives him to kill himself, he's hoping Ace wouldn't have to carry that burden in any other way.
- Posthumous Character: His suicide occurred almost a year before the beginning of the series.
Carol Spade
Jack and Ace's mother.
Duffy Wrestling League
Staff
Willie Day
Jack's business partner.
- Female Misogynist: A downplayed example that she gets over during the course of the season, but at the start she's pretty dismissive of Crystal's efforts to be one of the wrestlers, and is as annoyed as Jack for her insubordination and improvisation during some of the matches.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: She's an habitual whiskey-drinker. Wild Bill's recent return to her life has driven her to indulge in it more frequently.
- Only Sane Woman: In an ocean of clashing egos, money problems, and feuding brothers, Willie seems to be the only person aware enough of the people she's working with, and tries not to meddle too much in other people's problems if it's not related to Wrestling.
Debbie Hayes
Wrestlers
"Rooster Robbins" Deandre Milton
A star DWL wrestler.
- Defector from Decadence: He jumped ship to rival promotion Florida Wrestling Dystopia over frustration with his lack of push and never getting a shot at the title in DWL.
- Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Jack doesn't make any more efforts to listen to Rooster's ideas than anybody else's over his shot at the DWL belt, so when Gully tries to poach him for FWD, he doesn't have to think twice about quitting DWL.
Apocalypse
An experienced, disillusioned journeyman wrestler.
- The Alcoholic: He's a recovering alcoholic who's been on the wagon since his drinking nearly ruined his life. He now attends Alcoholic Anonymous meetings held in the DWL arena.
Bobby Pin
An inexperienced rookie wrestler from Texas who's recently signed with the DWL.
- All-American Face: He seems to be evolving into this, with his in-ring persona being based on his real life genuine Nice Guy personality.
- Good Is Dumb: Bobby is the nicest and kindest character on the show but he's shown to be a dumbass
- Jobber: He's initially utilized as one for Ace to attempt to win back the crowd after Ace's embarrassing loss to Jack.
- Naïve Newcomer: He's an inexperienced wrestler with little knowledge of the business, and has to be tutored by his fellow wrestlers in the art of selling hits and avoiding actual injuries.
- Stylistic Suck: His self-produced entrance theme is a truly horrendous rap.
Diego Cottonmouth
A Mexican American wrestler who utilizes a Luchador gimmick.
- Acrofatic: He's got a paunch on him, but he's surprisingly agile for a man of his girth.
- Animal Motifs: His ring name and costume are meant to evoke the cottonmouth snake.
- Foreign Wrestling Heel: He mentions that his status as a legal American citizen is a source of heat for racist white Americans.
- Masked Luchador: His gimmick.
Big Jim Kitchen
A popular face in the DWL and Ace's best friend.
Valets & Women Wrestlers
Crystal Tyler
A valet and love interest for Ace.
- Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Both of her love interests (Ace and Bobby) tower over her.
The valet of Ricky Rabies.
Other Characters
Wild Bill Hancock
A former wrestling star turned pro wrestling scout.
- Animal Motifs: He's often seen in a snakeskin suit, which suits his nature as a dangerous snake in the grass who likes to tempt others down darker paths.
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: He gets utterly destroyed on a plane, resulting in him tanking his career by exposing himself.
- Bigger Is Better in Bed: Willie claims he's great in bed, and as seen from his viral video, he's very well-endowed.
- Bring My Brown Pants: Much to his consternation, he shits his pants during the Georgia State Fair Main Event against Jack and Ace.
- Dented Iron: He's well past his prime as a wrestler, having needed multiple knee surgeries in order to keep functioning.
- The Corrupter: He likes to feed Ace's worst instincts, outright encouraging him to do drugs and act like an asshole.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Bill might be a toxic asshole, but he frequently makes good points.
- Laser-Guided Karma: After Ace's humiliation, Bill cruelly rejects him for the big leagues; not long after, Bill's career plummets after his own public humiliation.
- Smarter Than You Look: He might look like a drunken moron, but he's highly intelligent, observant and surprisingly insightful.
Charlie Gully
The owner and the "God of Chaos" of Florida Wrestling Dystopia (FWD), a rival wrestling promotion to the DWL that is more interested in violent spectacle than telling a compelling story.
Elle Dorado
A journeyman pro wrestler that the DWL hired to put over Crystal to launch the newly formed women's division.
