List of characters from the Hatchet films:
Recurring Characters
Victor Crowley
Played By: Kane Hodder
Victor Crowley was a deformed child, taken care of by his father and tormented by bullies for his appearance. One day, a group of kids threw firecrackers into the Crowley home, leading it to catch fire with Victor trapped inside. Victor's father tried to rescue him by breaking down the door with a hatchet, but accidentally killed Victor with the hatchet. Victor now roams the swamp as a malevolent ghost, searching for his father and killing anyone he sees, becoming an urban legend.
- And I Must Scream: Strongly implied. It's suggested that his ghost is constantly experiencing the same fear and anger he felt the night he died.
- Ax-Crazy: In the most literal sense possible given his signature weapon.
- Berserk Button: Anyone entering into his swamp.
- Body Horror: Has severe facial deformities.
- Captain Ersatz: He's basically Kane Hodder's interpretation of Jason Voorhees in full Hillbilly Horrors mode.
- The Determinator: Absolutely nothing will stop him from reaching his goal once he gets a scent of it.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Murders absolutely anyone who comes into his swamp.
- Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Inverted as Victor Crowley loves his father to an unhealthy degree.
- Hillbilly Horrors: He's a deformed redneck's ghost who lives in the swamp.
- Implacable Man: Victor is immune to everything thrown at him.
- Immune to Bullets: Bullets doesn't permanently put him down. This is especially demonstrated with Deputy Hamilton emptying his entire clip on Victor, who briefly goes down before quickly rising back up.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: Victor Crowley is completely physical and very pissed off.
- Resurrective Immortality: Victor Crowley rises every night, no matter what. No matter how badly he's torn apart, he manifests again come sundown.
- Revenant Zombie: Victor Crowley is a "repeater" - an undead monster who rises every night to relive his death. Curiously, he is referred to as a ghost rather than any sort of zombie.
- Stout Strength: He's not exactly the most shapely villain.
- Super-Strength: Victor is ridiculously strong enough to rip out his victims' spine and head with his bare hands.
Marybeth Dunston
Played By: Tamara Feldman (1st film), Danielle Harris (the rest of the series)
The main protagonist of the series, she tries to hunt Victor down for killing her father and brother.
- Action Girl: A tremendously effective one since she survives multiple encounters with Victor Crowley.
- Action Survivor: What she starts as before becoming an Action Girl.
- Not Quite Dead: She's critically injured in III's Bolivian Army Ending, and Andrew Yong's Sole Survivor status in the fourth movie implies that she's dead, but a post-credits scene shows that she survived.
- Shell-Shocked Veteran: By the third movie, she's not exactly in the best shape.
Reverend Zombie
Played By: Tony Todd
A local tour guide deeply involved in the occult.
- Asshole Victim: At the end of II, he dies at the very hands of Victor, and considering he arranged the expedition for his own needs, it was very well deserved.
- Retcon: Is revealed to have been responsible for Victor Crowley coming back to life in the first place.
Jack Cracker
Played By: John Carl Buechler
A local hermit who lives in the swamp and warns people about Victor.
Andrew Yong
Played By: Parry Shen
A paramedic who survived Victor's killings.
- Fear Is the Appropriate Response: Andrew survived the events of Hatchet III by running and hiding.Tyler Hawes: And you didn't fight back?Andrew: No, I didn't fight back. I'd hid and that's the only reason those aren't my balls hanging from that tree!
