Characters / Halkegenia Online Cait Sith

Go To

A feline-like race in ALO, they are probably the most affected by their transition to Halkegenia. After all, the changes to their bodies are a bit more radical than in the cases of the other races. This is embodied mostly in verbal tics, and little tendencies that are more feline like. Their closeness with nature lends them an empathy with animals, enabling them to tame otherwise dangerous mobs. Jury's still out if that transfers to humans and other Fae. When angered their eyes are known to slit into Hellish Pupils.

Alicia Rue (Arisa)

Lady of the Cait Sith, Countess of Freelia

Leader of the Cait Sith and good friend to Lady Sakuya. A skilled dragon rider and dark magic user. Very little is known about Alicia outside of her ALfheim persona which is that of a childish and fun loving young woman. Per Word of God, her real self was much older than she looks.
  • Becoming the Costume: While other players have experienced behavior changes in accordance with their avatar, Alicia has not. This is because she already acts like a cat: enjoying fish, capable of napping anywhere, etc.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Her happy-go-lucky personality disguises one of the most powerful Cait Sith mages.
  • Dirty Business: In no way, shape or form did Alicia like having to send The Shiori to Albion, but hoping to eliminate Albion's necromancer and/or the potential second coming of Rip Jack was what pushed her to the Godzilla Threshold.
  • Hidden Depths: According to one of Sakuya's flashbacks, Alicia was studying Neuroscience IRL.
  • O.C. Stand-in: "Fairy Dance" afforded her little screen time so the template is open to fill in here as a more major character.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: She looks like a child in stature but she has a tremendous amount of power.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: She has an artillery mage build.
  • Wine Is Classy: She has a very well stocked cellar, which shows a more mature side of her than her usual childish appearance gives off..

KoKo (Koboyashi Akiko)

A Cait Sith hunter and friend of Leafa. KoKo is an energetic and kind person usually found in the company of either Leafa or Carmond. Adores Carmond's niece and nephew and is highly protective of children in general. Since the Tarbes arc she is frequently seen around Louise, with whom she developed a friendship.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She is so protective of Louise that, in her werecat form, she is mistaken as the girl's familiar.
  • Emergency Transformation: Her 'one last spell' basically turns her into a werecat.
  • Forest Ranger: Her character class. As a result, she has extensive knowledge about mobs that she uses to good effect.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The "Raising Fae" omake series is set in an Alternate Continuity where her son Daisuke was playing ALO with her when the Transition happened.
  • Friend to All Children: She basically becomes Louise's third elder sister and is a staunch advocate for the Little Sisters of Tarbes.
  • Stepford Smiler: Type A. She's always bright and cheerful, unless someone asks her about her family. When she learns that Louise is responsible for the Transition she breaks.

Silica (Ayano Keiko)

Dragon Tamer Silica

A former SAO player, now a dragon tamer of the Cait Sith race. A moderately skilled dagger user, logged into ALO to assist Kirito in the <<Asuna Rescue Mission>>. Due to transferring her Nerve Gear memory card to her AMUsphere, Silica possessed her SAO stats and familiar, the feathery dragon Pina.

Argo

The Rat

A former SAO information broker and now a Faerie of the Cait Sith Race and a Crown Agent for Queen Henrietta. Logged into ALO to investigate Asuna's whereabouts, later provided this information to Kirito through their shared contact, Agil. Now uses her contacts and skills to collect information about Halkegenia and advise the Fairy Lords. Feels a deep sense of responsibility to find an help the remaining SAO survivors and bring them safely to Tristain. Is currently investigating the Case of the missing Lake Spirit after the Case of Novair's murder was solved.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She does such an exemplary job of looking after Suisen that Hingaku thinks that not even a Pixie Elder Sister could do better.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Implied. When she was younger, her parents would tell her stories of her two ancestral homelands making her think of Odysseus standing next to Momotaro, suggesting a Greek and Japanese ancestry, though the actual ratio is unknown.
  • Cassandra Truth: Discovered what had happened to Asuna after the end of the SAO incident and tried to tell the authorities, who didn't even bother pretending that they were listening to her. It is also the main reason she does not trust Jensen and Vakarian to handle the investigation on their own.
  • Cool Big Sis: She is Suisen's Elder-Sister which causes the pixie to blossom into a mousegirl.
  • Fairy Companion: Suisen, her Navigation Pixie, accompanies her on investigations and memorizes large quantities of facts so she doesn't have to.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Her opinion of both Jensen and Vakarian was terrible but after working and cracking a case with Jensen she becomes much more friendly with him.
  • It's Personal: She knew one of the murder victims personally.
  • Meaningful Rename: Liz calls her 'The Cat' instead of her older, less appropriate nickname.
  • The Nicknamer: Such as Kii-bou for Kirito and A-chan for Asuna.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Has a strong dislike of the police due the SAO task force ignoring her because she was a kid. Had they listened to her, it's possible that the Transition might not have happened at all.
  • Police Are Useless: Her attitude stemming from how the SAO task force handled her. Also the main reason why she does not trust Jensen and Vakarian. And with the revelation that the prime suspect in Novair's murder was once one of Mortimer's go to assassins, these suspicions seem to be confirmed.
  • Properly Paranoid: She's quick to palm her dagger when she thinks someone's spying on her. Even if it is just Netzel. She also thinks there's a conspiracy behind the killings in V.20.
  • The Spymaster: Officially becomes one for the Fae Lords by keeping them informed of sundry events through her skils and "army of volunteers". She tries to recruit Jensen as one of Alicia's "intel spooks" in the epilogue of V 2.0.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: When an assassin ambushes her in the inn, she goes feral.
  • Verbal Tic: Uses 'tis' in place of 'is' and tends to end her sentences in 'sa'.

Alden

Mayor of Freelia

Raz

Chief Beast Tamer of Freelia. He was the first to figure out how to tame the famous Cait Dragons. Has a pet Terrorantula named Lamar.

Isaac

A Cait Sith dragoon who seems to know Silica. He is stationed as part of the patrol forces out of Freelia. Jokingly calls his dragon 'Smaug'.

Netzel

A diminutive, dorky reporter for ALFheim Daily. She has a reputation with the Freelia City Watch for her notoriety and a penchant for getting into trouble. Has a ninja build.

Shiori (Shirotaka Akira)

A trio of nearly identical Cait Sith girls. According to Alicia Rue, they were all controlled by a single guy in ALO, thanks to hacking his AMUSphere. Already infamous for Player Killing in the game, the Transition hit them hard. Nobody is quite sure if they are a single mind controlling three bodies, or actually separate, but possibly mind-linked triplets. They are extremely protective of their fellow players, to the woe of anyone who dares cross them.
  • Angst: Over the situation the Transition has left her, the sister she'll likely never see again, and her job as an assassin.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Sword Shiori's human disguise (which is male) has caught the eye of both Tiffa and Mathilda.
  • Berserk Button: Necromancy in general. The Zae in particular. And Sheffield, due to mistaking her for the Necromancer.
  • Creepy Twins: They are a set of triplets whose frequently synchronous behavior and glee in killing unnerve others, Fae and human alike.
  • Cute and Psycho: They are cute catgirls who are also skilled at sneaking and stabbing.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Sheffield tried to mind-meld Shiori into submission, using a magical artifact. The artifact broke under the resistance of all three of Shiori's minds fighting back at once, and left Sheffield running for her life, convinced that they were some kind of unthinkable monster.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: She has a sword self, a magic self, and a dagger self.
  • Forced Transformation: Well, their player was originally one man.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: Shiori has no real experience with how to interrogate someone properly, and so has to rely on the threat of torture and death when questioning Governor Barnard.
  • Man, I Feel Like a Woman: In Shiori's thoughts, it's mentioned that once she adjusted somewhat to the sensory feedback of having three bodies, she did, in fact, lock herselves in a room and not come back out until morning. Such a thing is no one else's business but her own, but she did do it.
  • Named Weapons: Her daggers, <<Nidhoggr's Fangs>>, and her sword, <<Unseen Moon>>. Shiori notes that her artifact-rarity staff has a name too, but she thinks the name is stupid, so she calls it <<The Nameless Staff>> instead.
  • Oh, Crap!: Sword Shiori's reaction to finding out that Tiffania is attracted to her male mimic form.
  • Pet the Dog: Gives food to a hungry child in Saxe Gotha.
  • Playing with Fire: Mahou Shiori knows at least some Fire Magic, as one Zombie Fae learns by experience.
  • Professional Killer: They are unofficially Alicia's assassins and she sends them after Albion's necromancer at the end of V2.0.
  • Sociopathic Hero: Subverted. People assume she's a remorseless killer because of her attitude and anti-social behavior. In actuality she's far more troubled by her actions than she lets on.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Shiori is slowly warming up to Tiffa and the children, finding it increasingly difficult to go with the original 'go away and forget we've ever met' plan.
  • Unstoppable Rage Subverted. Her pain-induced rage in response to Mahou Shiori being burned alive makes her so focused on killing Sheffield that it allows Blair to stab one of her in the back.

Vincen

The Science teacher at Arrun Home.

Touba (Chiba Touma)

The grandson of a Shinto priest who has taken to using his half remembered knowledge from his childhood to deal with the spirits of Halkegenia. He is currently building a shrine around a Yggdrasil shoot near Freelia and and has been "volunteered" to preside over Eugene and Morgiana's wedding.
