Miyamoto Musashi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s153_stage1.png
A swordswoman from the early Edo period, Miyamoto Musashi was renowned as the strongest swordsman in the history of Japan. She founded the Niten Ichi-ryu; school of swordsmanship; a martial art that involved the dual-wielding of a katana and wakizashi.

Musashi was born in Oohara, Sakushu (modern day Mimasaka, in the Okayama Prefecture), at 1584. Her father was a practitioner of martial arts named Shinmen Munisai, who served as an instructor of martial arts to the Shinmen House of lords of the Takayama Castle, and who received the name of Shinmen from his employer’s family. Shinmen Munisai built a dojo of Jutte techniques in the Miyamoto village of the Yoshino district, and Musashi would later call herself “Miyamoto” due having this land as her hometown.

She left behind many anecdotes and went through numerous battles against martial artists upon reaching adulthood - especially during the ten years of his 20s. Those famous bouts are even now seen as a staple of the entertainment industry. However, the truth behind the episodes of these ten years of battle is mostly wrapped in mystery and there are strong suspicions about them being mere fiction.

In the present day, she was summoned as Servant by Lady Avalon to protect the fragment of the Holy Sword located in Japan.

  • Adaptational Wimp: Her canonical version was able to take on multiple high-level Servants at the same time and win while she was still only a normal human at her peak. This version of her didn't show anything even approaching that level. Similarly, the canonical Musashi reached the Void, but this Musashi didn't and doesn't even mention it.
  • Dual Wielding: She fights using a katana and a wakizashi.
  • Honor Is Fair Play: Unlike her canonical version which is ready to use all dirty tricks to win a fight, this version of her has a Code of Honor and does not support trickery.
  • Master Swordsman: Swordswoman, technically, but yes. Musashi is considered the best swordsman, or swordswoman here, in Japan.

Xuanzang Sanzang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dg0vkbm_cc66d34e_a911_465f_888a_7555cd8d61db.png
A Buddhist priest from the Tang dynasty, in the 7th Century AD.Traveling through the Silk Road in pursuit of the original Buddhist scriptures, she reached India from central Asia and then brought back to China over 367 sutras, becoming the founder of the Faxiang Buddhist sect.

She is known as a key character in the Chinese novel 『Journey to The West』. Under the command of Guanyin Bodhisattva, the monk of good looks who rode Bai-Long Ma - the son of the West Sea Dragon King transformed into a white horse - had Qitian Dasheng Sun Wukong, Tianpeng Yuanshuai Zhu Bajie and Juanlian Dajiang Sha Wujing as her disciples and headed for Tianzhu, without ever losing heart at the countless monsters that obstructed her way.

In the 『Journey to the West』, it has been said that she originally existed in heaven as Jin Chanzi - the disciple of Siddhārtha Gautama - but fell into secular life as a result of "a certain matter". In other words, Xuanzang is the reincarnation of Jin Chanzi. (Some sources stated that this "certain matter" was Jin Chanzi reincarnated as a mortal because he disobeyed the Buddha's teachings.)

She is always kind to those who are weak. She can never turn a blind eye to those who are in need.On the other hand, she is quite strict with those she has taken on as her disciples. But she expect that both will follow the same path and grow.

Altera

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dfssxvm_de149011_2568_40c0_aed0_016f2e89d809.png
A great king who established a great empire. Attila the Hun.A descendant of the Xiongnu (Hunnu), she is a warrior and king of the Hun tribe.A great hero from the 5th Century who controlled a vast territory, spanning from West Asia to Russia・Eastern Europe・Gaul. It can be said that he invited the collapse of the Eastern Roman Empire.

With outstanding power of intuition, she stands against all circumstances without abandoning her reason. A proud, rational warrior. In some respects, there is an "emptiness" in her.During battles, she turns into a combat machine that calmly, accurately grasps the situation and executes a merciless massacre.

Utterly, a "Combat King".In contrast with the deeds of arms in the battlefield, she was not successful in her reign, and the empire quickly collapsed after her death, vanishing completely. However, the name "Attila" that exemplifies awe and fear, is being remembered by the people even to this day.

In the present day, she was summoned as Servant by Lady Avalon to protect the fragment of the Holy Sword located in Mongolia.

Ibuki-Douji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dfswa99_74daec2f_833e_47ad_afe6_598202a897c0.png
Ibuki-douji.The other name of the "Shuten-douji" from the base of Mount Ibuki.Ibuki-douji, whose birth was impossible naturally, that is, she came into this world as an oni child, grew up in the mountains and eventually gained fearsome abnormal powers.

It is said she moved to Mt. Ooe and became the great monster "Shuten-douji" who descended on the capital, entertaining herself with massacre and pillaging────

Her nature as a "god/kami" is quite strong and her self-awareness of being a part of nature (the world) is quite intense. She acts according to primitive desires. She doesn't really feel like coming into contact with humans and their culture/civilization.She makes a face as if she is unaware of the depths of alcohol, the delicacy of human lives, and the pleasure of indulging in a moment of insanity, however...Once she immerses herself in desires, she will be completely unforgiving.Without any incentive, she is harmless, but she could be said to be even more dangerous than Shuten-douji in a certain meaning.

Once her interest is piqued, she'll be strongly fixated on its object. While the target of her interest exists, her eyes will always be fixed on them.Usually, she'd stretch her long fingers towards them, touch them and destroy them completely───or, she would corrupt them and guide them to their death.

The oni species to which her other aspect belongs to can easily pique her interest. Naturally, existences similar to her (children of a dragon god) would also make her eyes sparkle.

Since her origin is that of a god, she can't look at things from the same standpoint as a human being, her words and conduct is that of "a big sister of a Heroic Spirit/Divine Spirit who's gotten way too used to modern society".Her behavior shows that she's studied up on what human beings are like.

She even tries to seduce and arouse others.

She returns to her behavior of a "god/kami" that is her innate nature when she releases the True Name of her Noble Phantasm or when she gets serious, but usually, she's enjoying herself as a carefree "snake big sis".

It seems that she encountered Kintoki on Mount Ashigara in the past.He met her while wandering Ashigara as a monstrous child that was neither the spawn of men or oni and suffered an overwhelming defeat at her hands in sumo.

After that, Ibuki-douji has disappeared.By no means did that mean that she passed away; she lived on, having transformed into a different existence, a different aspect. In other words, she changed into the great youkai, "Shuten-douji", in both mentality and shape.

By connecting each testimony together, it would appear that Ibuki-douji and Shuten-douji existed by alternating with each other at certain or uncertain intervals."It's my turn now""Next will be my turn"in the above order──────

In the present day, she was summoned as Servant by Lady Avalon to protect the fragment of the Holy Sword located on an island between the Japan and the South Korea.

Kukulkan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s373_stage1_7.png
Kukulkan is the Mayan God of Resurrection and Regeneration. She is also the Supreme Deity of the Mayan Pantheon, who is also a Feathered-Snake like Quetzalcoalt, which is her Aztec identity.

Kukulkan built the city of the sun Chichen Itza located on Mictlan's third strata. Within the city, atop the Temple of the Sun, is a pillar of green crystal which the sun comes from every morning, circulates through Mictlan's nine strata, then returns to every evening. The crystal is actually not a mineral but a plant, the tip of a cosmic tree that pierces Mictlan's underground. Could this be related to the Emerald of Lucifer ?

Diplomatic and active. In short, “an impeccable and integrous goddess”. Extremely frank, and yet elegant, close to others, and philanthropic. Just by being present, she sparkles. She will hear out your various woes, cheer you on, ensure you’re in good health, and bring you good luck. She will sparkle, even when silent. She even feels a cosmic (overloading) affection. In other words, she’s physically sparkling.

She’s an unreasonable goddess who will force you to go out, fight, and triumph, no matter how harsh the battlefield may be.

She loves hard-working living beings, wishes to safeguard the lives of those who have possibilities, and dreams of fighting alongside such lifeforms, so in a sense, she is a sheltered young lady. In combat, she says “Yahoo, it’s a battle!” before rocketing in like a cruise missile.

Kukulkan was used as a Guardian of a fragment of the Grail Sword by Lady Avalon. According to some records, she thought that it reminded her of the green crystalline pillar atop of her Temple. But, today, the pillar disappeared and not even Kukulkan knows where it is. But she'd like to see it again. The pillar vanished during her long slumber.

In the Sanctuary, Kukulkan is a member of the Security Service. She joined in hopes to find an extraordinary opponent just like Storm. Maybe, one day, her wish will be fulfilled. But let's hope it does not happen right now, as a worthy opponent of such a powerful being would probably World Ending in term of power level.

  • Alternate Self: This is not the canon version, but an alternate version. Even more blatant than in most cases, as this version of her lacks any ties to ORT and is just the Mayan version of Quetzalcoatl. Of course, she remains extremely powerful, being of Demiurge Level.

Romulus-Quirinus

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dg4ty8i_7ae12754_41df_40e9_9ba1_1ffd63b6e1dc.png
Founder of Rome
Male Version
The deified form of Romulus post-mortem as Quirinus in Roman mythology. She is one of the three Chief Gods of Roman mythology, alongside Mars and Jupiter.

Roma at its very core is Romance.

Passing through the Age of Gods, how one man became able to love another, and humanity; Roma fully encompasses and symbolizes all of these.

Born to the god of war Mars and Princess Rhea Silvia, growing up with a beast as a friend, and eventually laying the foundations for the great Roman Republic. The manifestation before us is the figure of the young Romulus who founded Roma and later came to be deified as Quirinus who was a part of the triad of supreme Roman gods.

As an existence that was deified, the manifestation heavily symbolizes the history of expansion and growth of civilization during Ancient Roma and the vicious, violent events it entailed. In the same way the Heroic Spirit with an identical name displays the continued governance of a ruler and prosperity, the Romulus we see is an existence that displays humanity’s potential to leave the Age of Gods behind.

Romulus-Quirinus takes on the same quirkiness of his Lancer counterpart, including her poses and embrace of the Roman Empire, her affection for the emperors of the Roman Empire, and her desire to transform all into Rome. Nevertheless, she is also a transcendant figure who is all-loving towards the universe, sheds moral truths, and is accepting of the moral failings of the empire at the same time (which she refers to as her sins).(source: Type-Moon wiki)

Romulus-Quirinus returned to the Mortal Realm as a Servant summoned by Lady Avalon to protect the shard of the Claiomh Solais hidden in Rome. There, Romulus-Quirinus appeared as a man... But after he was defeated by Storm, she suddenly turned into a woman version of the great Romulus-Quirinus. There is no reason given to this sudden change of gender.... But nobody is complaining, she is a real stunner !

Now, like all the gods present in the Sanctuary, Romulus-Quirinus is an observer, not directly getting involved in any of the matters the Sanctuary is busy with. She will only act if the situation needs it.

She is greatly worshiped by all the Romans that are living in the Sanctuary, like Nero and Caesar. But she also commonly seen helping Agrippa with her plan to rebuild the Roman Empire.

Caenis

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_by_the_sanctuaire_dftfclq_350t_2x.jpg
Proxy of Poseidon
A warrior and tyrant found within Greek mythology. As a member of the Argonauts, Caenis went on many an adventure with the crew. Though once a woman, Caenis later became a man…. it has been said.

In the past Caenis was beyond a doubt a true woman, beauty renowned, and praised as one of the most beautiful maidens in Thessaly. At one point after turning down numerous courters, Caenis received the love of the sea god Poseidon (Neptune) and also lost the chastity once held. Satisfied, the sea god said, "I will grant all of your wishes" to which Caenis replied, "Please make me no longer a woman so that I will never have to go through an experience like this ever again" and Caenis became an invincible man, the legend says.

It cannot be said for sure that Caenis actually became a man due to some tales left behind. After death in one story, Caenis is said to have become a bird with golden wings and disappeared into the skies, but there is also another tale that the corpse of a woman was left behind. Either way, the subsequent Caenis/Caeneus became a mighty warrior and showed the world a powerful tyrant that could rule the lands.

Having taken the appearance of a female type servant with the true name of Caenis which reflects the life once led as a woman.

At the end of life, Caenis turned into a magnificent bird with golden wings. In Caenis’ current appearance that same tale has intertwined into a Noble Phantasm, however, there is a chance of the special trait of being able to change appearance at will going out of control. This tale may be the source of why Caenis’ appeared in a female’s body and also why Caenis’ body has animal characteristics.

As Caenis’ ascension progresses further and further, the Noble Phantasm (shown as a skill in this story) which consists of Poseidon’s protection and blessing becomes more and more present. From this Caenis becomes closer and closer to regaining the form held when once alive. In other words an unparalleled existence with a magnificent suit of armor like that of Poseidon's.

Furthermore, Caenis’ spirit origin was formed with a massive increase in power resulting from Poseidon’s favor. Already at a point beyond what is a Heroic Spirit, Caenis has appeared as a Divine Spirit before us.

In the present day, she was summoned as Servant by Lady Avalon to protect the fragment of the Holy Sword located in Greece.

Siegfried

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dftoyzv_b3987207_396e_44f2_ac3d_658ac8f373b9_1.png
The hero matching a thousand, admired in the "Nibelungenlied".With the holy sword Balmung in hand, the "dragon slayer" who defeated the evil dragon Fafnir.Although taciturn, his passions run deep.In the battlefield, he is constantly on the front lines protecting his comrades.

Siegfried is a great hero introduced in the epic poem of the Middle Ages, the "Nibelungenlied."After going on many adventures, and in the process obtaining the holy sword Balmung, as well as an overcoat that makes him disappear, he finally defeated the evil dragon Fafnir.

By bathing and drinking the Dragon Kind's blood, Siegfried became an invulnerable existence and would no longer receive even a single wound on the battlefield. However, a shadow was cast on such flamboyant glory around the time he married the princess of Burgundy, Kriemhild.

As a result of granting the wishes of his brother-in-law, Kriemhild and the wife of his brother-in-law got into a conflict with each other and Siegfried was driven into a situation where he had no choice but to die in order to prevent a fight. He had always answered the people's expectations, but what was wished from him, in the end, was his own death.

Having turned into a Heroic Spirit, he looks back at his lifetime to his self as a "hero wished by others" and harbors a modest dream. To fight not for "somebody else's sake" but only for the justice he himself believes; an ally of justice—That is his dream.

In the present day, he was summoned as Servant by Lady Avalon to protect the fragment of the Holy Sword located in Germany.
