Characters in Green Lantern: Earth One.
Protagonists
Hal Jordan
An asteroid miner who discovers upon a lost Green lantern Ring and Power Battery.
- Adaptational Job Change: Here, he is an astronaut instead of a test pilot.
- Adaptational Personality Change: A lot more bitter about life back on Earth.
- Beard of Sorrow: Inverted. He starts off bitter, cynical, and clean-shaven. As he becomes more hopeful, idealistic, and a Hope Bringer, he's grown a full beard.
- Composite Character: Shares Kyle Rayner's backstory as the last human Green Lantern after the Corps' collapse.
- Hope Bringer: Ends up becoming this.
- Took a Level in Idealism: He takes a level throughout his adventure.
Green Lantern Corps
Kilowog Ev
Kilowog is a scientist living on Bolovax Vik.
- Adaptational Personality Change: In the mainstream comics, Kilowog is a tough-as-nails Drill Sergeant Nasty. Here, he is a scientist.
- Decomposite Character: He takes Abin Sur's role in providing Hal exposition on the Green Lantern Corps and how the power ring works, when this continuity establishes Abin Sur to be long dead by the time Hal finds him and obtains his ring.
- Gentle Giant: He's large and kindhearted.
Arisia
Arisia is the descendant of a long-dead Green Lantern also named Arisia, and the inheritor of her ancestor's Power Ring. She is the leader of a rebel group against the Manhunters hiding out on a distant world.
- Adaptational Personality Change: In the mainstream comics, Arisia is a Naïve Newcomer. Here, she is a serious, no-nonsense, and aggressive individual.
Sinestro
A Green Lantern who is gathered when Hal Jordan re-forms the Corps.
- Adaptational Heroism: Sinestro in this continuity is firmly a good guy with none of his standard incarnation's Machiavellian tendencies. He only goes along with joining the Yellow Lantern Corps formed by the last Guardian out of desperation.
- Decomposite Character: While still affiliated with the Yellow Lanterns, he is no longer the founder. The Yellow Lanterns here are instead formed by the last Guardian.
Antagonists
The Manhunters
Robots that have driven the Green Lantern Corps to near extinction and have enslaved much of the Universe.
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The Manhunters were created by the Guardians with the intent of destroying and replacing the Green Lanterns, because the Guardians saw the Corps as having become too independent. Once the Lanterns were decimated, the Manhunters turned on them. This might have actually been planned by the last one.
- Big Bad: As there doesn't seem to be a leader among them, they collectively serve as this.
- The Dreaded: Throughout the remaining Green Lanterns and several races not wanting to get on their bad side.
- Turned Against Their Masters: As in the main DC Canon, the Manhunters turned against their creators, the Guardians, but unlike that canon, here their rebellion succeeded, wiping out all the Guardians except one.
The Last Guardian
The last survivor of the Guardians, who escapes the massacre of his fellows by escaping into Qward, the anti-matter universe. Despite portraying himself as benevolent to Hal Jordan, he's actually just using him to destroy both the Manhunters and the remaining Green Lanterns, leaving his own plans unopposed.
- Composite Character: He takes Sinestro's role in forming the Yellow Lantern Corps.
- Evil All Along: Had simply been using Jordan as a pawn, in reality he's the Earth One creator of the Yellow Lanterns.
- No Name Given: Is only ever referred to as the Last Guardian. There are hints that he's the Earth One version of Krona, but Volume 2 reveals Krona to be a separate character. Considering his plans, he might be this universe’s version of Ganthet.
- Walking Spoiler: It's impossible to discuss him without heavily spoiling the story.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: Though it's debatable how well-intentioned he actually is, he sees himself as this, as he plans to destroy the multiverse and reboot it to create a new universe without pain or war. Jordan points out he's far more likely to just completely wipe out all existence instead.
