     Zylith

Zylith

The main character, an aspiring artist with an interest in the supernatural, which leads her to rent an allegedly haunted apartment.

  • Abusive Parents: Her dad. He ripped up her art and forced her to give up her books and sketchbooks whenever she got a bad grade. Her mom is implied to be little better, as they both kick her out at the age of 18 when she plans to become an artist. And then her dad comes back and financially and emotionally abuses her even more.
  • Agent Mulder: She loves anything having to do with the supernatural and paranormal.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Zylith often appears to be attracted to both men and women, but she rarely talks about it openly. When she does mention it her lighthearted attitude often convinces people she's kidding. Even Verose, who has know her for years, finds her very hard to read. However, it is eventually revealed that she is definitely sexually attracted to Verose but ultimately prefers her as a friend instead of a lover.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: Wears a cute pair of cat ears.
  • Betty and Veronica: The Archie to Zelan's Veronica and Verose's Betty.
  • Break the Cutie: She’s bordering this when her father comes back into her life, this time financially abusing and manipulating her.
  • Consummate Liar: She's very good at lying. Verose even points it out.
  • Covert Pervert: Zylith can't always help but take peeks at a shirtless Zelan.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Downplayed, but her father was emotionally and mentally abusive, and it’s implied her mother was no better. One instance had her father rip up one of her drawings, and force her to give up her books, sketchbooks, manga, and hanging out with friends over a bad grade.
  • Eccentric Artist: She wants to be a webcomic artist, and is very very eccentric.
  • Kind Hearted Cat Lover: Beneath her oddness, she can be nice, and loves her cat Mr. Purrfect a lot.
  • Minor Living Alone: Barely averted. She’s eighteen, a legal adult, but even Mrs. Howser thinks she seems a bit young to be living alone.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Zylith is far from shameless but at the same time she is not very body shy. At one point she enthusiastically strips naked with Zelan.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: Zylith seems to have quite a selection of low-backed and backless dresses and tops, and virtually anytime she dolls herself up she wears one.
  • Verbal Tic: She tends to replace the letter “d” with the letter “z” sometimes. Most notably, she often says “zamn,” rather than “damn.”
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: While she does not have Technicolor Eyes like Zelan and Verose, Zylith's eyes are a shade of deep amber with gold highlights that feature white / yellow circular patterns around her pupils.

     Zelan

Zelan

The figure Zylith keeps seeing in her apartment. He appears to be unable to see her.

  • Art Evolution: His hairstyle is notably different than it was back in the first episode.
  • Betty and Veronica: The Veronica to Zylith's Archie and Verose's Betty.
  • Color-Coded Characters: He's associated with green and white.
  • Consummate Liar: He was able to successfully trick Zylith into thinking he couldn't see her for a long time.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Green eyes and hair.
  • Hidden Depths: He is far smarter than he appears. He's incredibly observant, as shown during his and Zylith's first conversation, and he's shown to have a manipulative streak and is also a very good liar.
    • Also, despite being a rising idol with a growing fandom, he is not a happy person. It's heavily implied that one of the reasons for his and Zylith's dimensions meeting is because they both want an escape from their problems in their lives.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: Zylith notes he's a very good cook, and he also seems good at keeping house.
  • Kind Hearted Cat Lover: He ends up "adopting" Nr. Purrfect.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He has many, many shirtless scenes.
  • Nice Guy: Possibly. We don't know how much of his personality is real, and how much was an act to make him appear less threatening.
  • Pretty Boy: Very. Zylith points it out numerable times, and even uses him as a drawing reference.
  • Sherlock Scan: Pulls one on Zylith during their first meeting, analyzing all that she’s done in case he turns out to be a danger to her.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Has vibrant green eyes.
  • Walking Spoiler: For one, his name is supposed to be hidden until the sixth episode. Then there’s him being from another dimension, being a famous singer, and being able to see Zylith from the beginning.
  • You Are Worth Hell: He willingly goes into a hellish dimension that Zylith fell into to save her.

     Verose

Verose

Zylith's best friend. Openly lesbian.

  • Beleaguered Assistant: She does play this part somewhat when Zylith wants to look into her apartment's history.
  • Betty and Veronica: The Betty to Zylith's Archie and Zelan's Veronica.
  • Brutal Honesty: She doesn’t sugarcoat much, especially not her opinion that Zylith should move out of the apartment immediately.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Verose can fight, and she can quickly analyze an opponent's strengths and weaknesses before engaging. She is also more than capable of using the environment and whatever objects are handy to win.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Very much so.
  • Expy: Verose looks a great deal like real world actress Ruby Rose, down to the script tattoo on the left side of her neck.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She can seem a bit blunt and abrasive, but it’s obvious she cares for Zylith deeply.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: She's been mistaken for male by readers. Even Zelan is unsure of her gender when he first sees her.
    • Happens in-universe too, though her androgynous looks aren't nearly as popular with surrounding people as they are with the webcomic's audience.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Has blue and pink eyes.
