The Speranza
Lexell Kotov
- Archmagos of the Kotov Explorator Fleet
- Reasonable Authority Figure: He is surprisingly this - when he learned the Roboute's Warrant of Trade was false, he ratified it himself out of respect for the man, and later proves willing to negotiate with the Ratings aboard Speranza in spite of this going against Mechanicum Dogma.
- Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Reveals to Blaylock that he knew that Surcouf's Warrant of Trade was false, but chose to ratify it himself out of respect for the Catpain's resourcefulness and the balls he needed to pull this off. His response to Blaylock's outrage? "I am an Archmagos. I can do whatever I want."
Tarkis Blaylock
- Fabricatus Locum, Magos of the Cebrenia Quadrangle
- Batman Gambit: His reason for joining the Expedition: if it fails, he will be able to press his own claim for Kotov's forges on Mars. If they succeed, then the Quest for Knowledge will have been advanced.
- That being said, he's still implied to be hoping the expedition fails, indicating he really wants Kotov's forges.
- Commander Contrarian: Tends to oppose Kotov whenever possible. Though, to be fair, the expedition has a statistically minute chance of succeeding, something the Mechanicum would find discouraging.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Does not think highly of Telok. The events of Gods of Mars vindicate him heavily here.
Vitali Tychon
- Stellar Cartographer of the Quatria Orbital Galleries
- Truly Single Parent: He created his daughter Linya by cloning himself.
- What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Averted - while most of the Mechanicum looks down on emotions and tries to purge them, it's made clear that Vitali really does love Linya.
Linya Tychon
- Stellar Cartographer, daughter of Vitali Tychon
- Opposite-Sex Clone: Vitali created her via cloning to be his successor. He did not intend for her to be female, though.

Turentek

Hirimau Dahan

Saiixek
- Master of Engines
- Pragmatic Villainy: Saiixek may treat the ratings under his command horribly, but he knows better than to kill then off for petty reasons, especially on a voyage that provides few options to replenish them. He tries to convince Kotev to avoid venting the area that Abrahem and his companions are in, as they need the Ratings to keep the voyage on schedule. Kotev points out that they need to vent that area because there's a plasma ball going through it that could destroy the ''Speranza''.
Totha Mu- 32
- Mechanicus Overseer
Abrehem Locke
- Bondsman
- Electronic Eyes: He has a pair of high-quality augmetic eyes, inherited from his father who was a bondsman himself.
- Outliving One's Offspring: Both of his children died from pollution-related lung infections before the age of five.
- Press-Ganged: Introduced getting pressed into service aboard the Speranza.
- Tragic Keepsake: For his one personal item he's allowed to bring aboard he picks a photo of his dead kids.

Vettius Telok (Unmarked Spoilers)
- Archmagos of the Telok Explorator Fleet
- Big Bad: Of Gods of Mars.
- A God Am I: Spending centuries with a machine that allows him to replicate the Big Bang has understandably given him delusions of godhood.
- Greater-Scope Villain: Of the entire series - he wants to leave the Halo Scar and had Galatea help him bring in Kotov's fleet precisely for that purpose.
- Villain Has a Point: He's batshit insane at this point, but some of his criticism of the Mechanicum, particularly their unwillingness to innovate and their Irrational Hatred toward alien technology, are completely valid.
