The characters from the comic book Fire Power.

     Owen Johnson
Originally searching for his birth parents, Owen became the first in decades to create a fireball at the secret Shaolin temple where he trained. 15 years later and he is a content family man in the suburbs.
  • The Ace: He's a very quick learner and manages to learn one of Wei Lun's techniques after seeing it for the first time used against him. He's also the first in decades to create a fireball.
  • Expy: You could very easily think of him as Robert Kirkman's take on Iron Fist.
  • Fantastic Racism: His parents are of the Scorched Earth Clan, and he faces some prejudice from others at the temple because of this.
  • Happily Adopted: He loves his adopted parents a lot. This doesn't diminish a bit by the time he becomes a dad himself.
  • Refusal of the Call: Twice. First is when he left the temple, second when Ma Guang tracks him down in his family man life and asks him to return to the temple to deal with the unrest there and to clear his name.

     Kellie Johnson
After leaving the temple, a heart-broken Owen would meet and eventually marry Kellie, a police officer. Happily married for 15 years, Kellie and Owen have a family of their own with two kids and the pet dog Peanut Butter.
  • Action Girl: Kellie's a veteran cop and that alone lets her deal with the average thug. But she's also been trained for years by Owen and has at least the standard set of temple abilities such as incredible leaping. Between her skills and quick wits, only the really elite fighters are out of her league.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Kellie's hair is not much longer than Owen's and she pins it up to be even shorter, but it's to be practical in her line of work. She does style it and let's the length down when she and Owen went on their ill-fated date at a French restaurant.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Kellie realizes that Owen has never gotten over Ling and her death and she feels she's living under the shadow of Ling. When Owen lapses into a memory of his time with Ling, Kellie can't even stand to be in the same room. This ends when Owen and Kellie go on their date and Owen finally comes clean about that it's Kellie who's number one to him.
  • Secret-Keeper: Outside of the people in the temple, she's the only one who knows about Owen's time at the temple and his fireball power. None of the other members of Owen's family know until after they're attacked.
  • Second Love: She came in after Owen's first love Ling Zan, but she's the love of Owen's life.

     Wei Lun
The master of the secret Shaolin temple, who acts as Owen's mentor during his time there.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's grumpy sometimes but is otherwise a pretty cheerful old dude who likes his pop culture and getting items from the rest of the world.
  • Shipper on Deck: Averted. He dissuades Owen from getting into a relationship with Zan, since it's forbidden.

     Ling Zan
A martial artist at the secret temple and the first to befriend Owen. They become fast friends and maybe more during his time there.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Her: She's killed between the prelude and present day stories. Her body was burned and so many at the temple suspect that Owen did it.
  • Flat-Earth Atheist: Despite having been there for much longer than Owen, Zan refuses to believe that fireballs are possible, that a statue could've been a man or that a dragon is locked under the temple.

     Ma Guang
Another martial artist at the temple, and one who did not like Owen. However, they eventually became friends, and it's Guang who tracks Owen down to ask him to return after 15 years.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: After taking some punishment together and fighting off the Scorched Earth Clan, t's implied he and Owen become this. They're close enough that Guang will hug Owen to comfort him after 15 years apart.
  • Jerk Jock: Implied, given that he has his own clique that he uses to attack Owen and is into sports and all that.
  • We Used to Be Friends: After the time skip, this what Owen and Guang's relationship is now. Owen has no intention of going back to the temple and things go further south when the temple targets his family.
