Astrea
Class: Fencer → Knight
Daughter of Alice and sister of Relina. An aspiring tactician, she winds up taking the lead on several of the mercenary group Propater's operations, leading her to becoming one of the most important figures in the fight against Amatera.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: As her primary weapon.
- Magic Knight: Is one of the few units who can use ranged swords, and she gains access to offensive magic after promotion.
Relina
Class: Soldier → Halberdier → Valkyrie
Astrea's sister and daughter of Alice. A dedicated fighter who spends much time training and honing her skills, hoping to make herself useful to Propater.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Upon reaching Valkyrie, she gains access to swords.
- Support Party Member: Thanks to gaining both Spur Speed and Rally Speed, it's often advantageous to have her stand close to the fight without participating so others will be able to double more effectively.
Ulysses
Class: Axe Knight → Paladin → Great Knight
Once a soldier of Pyronia, he found himself more loyal to Alice than to his country. When she left, he followed, and he now fights alongside Astrea to see how Alice's daughter handles a fight.
- Mighty Glacier: Bulky with high Strength, but his Speed and Skill are less than stellar.
- Support Party Member: He's your best unit for capturing early on, since his horse gives him an extremely high AID stat and his personal weapon, the Mahtipati, always strikes twice to make capturing easier.
Evan
Class: Arcanist → Geomancer → Apothecary
A mage originally from Cyra. He didn't like it much there, so he left and now finds himself a member of Propater as one of their only mages.
- Critical Hit Class: His personal skills are built around boosting his critical hits, as is his personal weapon Razor.
- Mighty Glacier: Extremely slow, but his bizarrely high Defense and love of critical hits make up for it.
Lex
Class: Archer → Sniper → Bow Knight
An archer of Propater. Optimistic yet intensely competitive, he is best friends and rivals with Condor and is noted for gaining the famously-broken Galeforce skill at an early level.
- Competition Freak
- Glass Cannon: High Strength and Skill, not much of anything else aside from HP, and that only serves to take him up from "tissue paper" to "mildly squishy" thanks to his poor speed and defenses.
Condor
Class: Bow Armor → Bow Colonel → Baron
An archer of Propater. They have poor self-image and as such often hide their face with a helmet. Not a fan of animals, but gets along with people just fine.
- The Faceless
- Mighty Glacier: As is tradition for Armor Knights.
- Samus Is a Girl
Katherin
Class: Myrmidon → Swordmaster → True Blade
One of several descendants of the sword saint Alester. A loyal member of Propater, she values swordsmanship and cares deeply for her younger sister Nia.
- Death by a Thousand Cuts: Has Astra.
- Fragile Speedster: Being a Myrmidon, and all.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: And only swords, in fact.
Dexithea
Class: Brigand → Berserker → Warrior
The daughter of Wraith and Sandy, two figures who fought in the World War. She now serves Propater loyally, joining Astrea's group to help take down some Red Army-associated slave traders.
- Smoking Is Cool: She's a heavy smoker, but she insists she doesn't inhale.
- Unskilled, but Strong: Has accuracy issues befitting a Brigand, but she's fast and the few hits that do land will hit like a truck.
Bella
Holy Fighter → Warpriest
A long-time member of Propater. She left the Pyronian army alongside Alice and Ulysses and now fights to get vengeance against them.
- Textile Work Is Feminine: Known to be a talented seamstress.
Fuuma
Ninja → Executioner
One of Propater's spies. He has a storied history, having previously been a mage in Cyra before leaving, even temporarily joining the Assassins Guild for a time.
- Magic Knight: Can use both swords and Anima at base.
- Master of Unlocking: Since he has Cunning.
- Put on a Bus: Leaves the party for a while after the opening arc, not coming back until Chapter 9.
Jenna
Witch → Seraph → Bellerophon
A mage from Cyra. Currently riding a broom as practice for when she can successfully ride a Pegasus, she found herself in the middle of a battle when her friend Charles got hired by the Red army.
- Flying Broomstick: Before she promotes.
Charles
Wyvern Rider → Wyvern Knight → Wyvern Lord
A mercenary who fights atop a wyvern. He finds himself torn between his employer and his friend Jenna when the latter decides to join the army he was hired to fight against: Propater.
- Dragon Rider: Obviously.
- Optional Party Member: The first character who shows up that you don't get automatically. As such, he's also the first unit you get whose death isn't ever a Game Over condition.
Artemis
Shaman → Druid → Dark Flier
The granddaughter of Garrison, the leader and founder of Propater. One of the organization's most elite spies, she is essential in the assassination of Pope Mandrake's son and joins the party permanently afterward.
- Master of Unlocking: Has Cunning, which lets her pick locks.
Nereid
Mercenary → Hero → Brave
The daughter of Froid and Erika, the leaders of the Orca Pirates. When they were successfully wooed to Pyron’s side, she abandoned them to join Propater.
- Master of Unlocking: Has Cunning, likely a result of her past as a pirate.
Joe
Lance Armor → Lance Colonel → Baron
An armored knight of Propater. A former gigolo and expert on relationships, he initially fights alongside his comrades to protect Nia from a swarm of dragons and monsters, before finding himself captured and then rescued again.
- Non-Idle Rich: Despite making more than enough to live off of with his relationship advice book, he continues to work as a mercenary even after the war.
Janet
Trickster
A veteran of the World War, and a previous lover of Donovan. A notoriously flirtatious, royal dragon of Ryu who doesn't use Dragonstones, she first joins Astrea to break her and her comrades out of prison.
- Crutch Character: Cannot promote, and her growths are mediocre enough that she likely won't be on any lategame teams when others join and fill her niches.
- Master of Unlocking: Can use Lockpicks.
- Really 700 Years Old: To a lesser extent. She's over a hundred years old
Nicole
Archer → Sniper → Coyote
Janet's daughter. Another member of the rebellion group, and a dragon of Ryu, she assists her mother and Kirin in the rescue of Propater's members.
- Magic Knight: Has equal Strength and Magic stats, which makes her a prime user of magic bows.
- Magikarp Power: Starting at level 1 is rough, but she'll do solid mixed damage if you can train her up.
Kirin
Cleric → Bishop → Warpriest
A healer aligned with Eli and Elliot's rebellion group. She was once a maid serving the noble Lila, before leaving due to the sorry state Amatera was in.
Clint
Sword Armor → Sword Colonel → Baron
An armored knight of Amatera who's horribly unlucky with his relationships. He's currently on his third marriage, and has been taking pointers from Joe's writings in order to keep it afloat, and has decided to turn coat when he realizes his army's holding Joe prisoner.
- Ignored Epiphany: When Relina tries to inform him of how inappropriate his approach to relationships is, he has a brief epiphany before determining that no, his wives were the wrong ones after all.
- Motor Mouth: Possibly part of the reason why his last two wives left him. His current wife is deaf, so it's not nearly as big of an issue for her.
- Never My Fault: See Ignored Epiphany above.
Derek
Mercenary → Hero → Brave
Janet's son, and another member of the rebellion. Once he reunites with his family, he's able to help them defend a fort a combined assault by the Hell Hounds and Assassin's Guild.
- Mighty Glacier: Has an astonishingly high 70% Defense growth, paired with a comparably less impressive 40% Speed.
Oreades
Drunk → Pit Fighter → Tribesman
Once a famed warrior, Oreades is now a pitiful drunk who's addicted specifically to Juna Fruit wine from Cyra. If you have any party members from Cyra, they can convince him to defect from his job and join your side.
- Video Game Stealing: Can steal items like a normal thief, but unlike units with Cunning, he can't use Lockpicks.
Ricky
Pirate → Warpriest
A veteran of the World War, and adopted son of Pope Mandrake. After everything went to Hell and several of his old friends and allies either died or underwent a Face–Heel Turn, he went into hiding only to reemerge to fight alongside Astrea.
- Boring, but Practical: His skills all grant simple damage, speed and resistance bonuses, and his stats are fairly average, but he serves his role well as an axe fighter with solid bases.
Roa
Shaman → Druid → Malig Knight
The estranged son of Elliot. Incredibly cold and apathetic, he's wound up joining Pyron's cult, but can be easily convinced by talking to him with Dexithea, Kirin or Artemis.
- Dragon Rider: Gains a wyvern mount as a Malig Knight.
- Mighty Glacier: Has a poor 30% Speed growth, but an adequate 40% Defense and Resistance, on top of very high damage.
