    Prince Blueblood
Prince Blueblood is still a very distant relative of Princess Celestia in the "Royal Blood" arc, but unlike his Prime counterpart, who was a boorish, spoiled brat of a stallion, his life took a different path. A student from Canterlot's School for Gifted Unicorns, Blueblood was chosen as Celestia's personal student instead of Twilight Sparkle as he needed more help than the latter did. Thanks to Celestia's personal guidance, much of his rotten behavior was curbed, though it didn't stop him from being somewhat egotistical. Notably, Princess Cadence, another distant relative of Blueblood's, supposedly became Celestia's favorite student due to being a natural-born Alicorn, stirring feelings of envy and resentment.

Much like what happened to Prime!Twilight Sparkle, Blueblood was sent to Ponyville by Celestia so he could make friends. It was there that he met and befriended the ponies that would become the Mane Six and the Elements of Harmony. But during the Summer Sun Celebration, Nightmare Moon arrived and, sensing Blueblood's darker feelings, infected her nephew with dark magic in an attempt to make him loyal to her cause. Darkblood, the magical manifestation of Blueblood's flaws, nearly succeeded in convincing Blueblood to usurp Cadence and Celestia and take power for himself, but the friendship of the Main Six stopped it. Realizing that there are people who loved him and that he needed to become the stallion his loved ones needed, Blueblood resolved to better himself, becoming the Element of Magic and killing Darkblood for good. Nightmare Moon, the perpetrator of his situation, was defeated and purified back into Princess Luna.

Blueblood had many adventures after that, and at some point, he dated and married Rarity, the Element of Generosity. He became a legendary hero, and after performing a great feat, Blueblood transformed into an Alicorn, giving him the power and prestige that he always wanted. The fact that he became an Alicorn in the first place led to a very unfortunate misunderstanding with the Mane Six from Prime Equestria, who mistook him for his much reviled counterpart as well as an evil Alicorn overlord from another world that looked just like him. Luckily, he cleared things up by explaining to them exactly how he got in his current position...
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Started off as a prideful, spoiled brat who resented Cadence for being Celestia's favorite student, causing him to fall under Nightmare Moon's magic for a time. After learning to trust others and acknowledging his own flaws, he became the Element of Magic, defeated Nightmare Moon and Darkblood, and eventually turned into an Alicorn and married his world's Rarity.
  • Fatal Flaw: Pride was his, as while less prideful than his prime self, he was still self-centered to a degree.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Much like what happened in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Deviations, Blueblood was chosen to be Celestia's personal student instead of Twilight Sparkle, and was sent to Ponyville to better himself. However, the Royal Blood storyline was stated to be a Fix Fic and a Take That! to the original, taking its What If? premise seriously and actually giving Blueblood much-needed Character Development.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Admits he used to be jealous of Cadence being born an Alicorn and being the favored child of their aunt, Princess Celestia, and it was this motivation that made Nightmare Moon see him as a kindred spirit.
  • Happily Married: Is happily married to his world's Rarity.
  • Hero of Another Story: From what was implied in his world, he was sent to Ponyville, where he met and befriended his Mane Six. He also defeated Nightmare Moon, became the Element of Magic, and did the same things that Prime Twilight did until he became an Alicorn Prince.
  • How We Got Here: When the Mane Six from Mainline Equestria visits his world and initially mistakes him for an evil Alicorn overlord that looks exactly like him, he explains to them how he managed to become an Alicorn and marry his world's Rarity.
  • Irony: In-universe; he notes that he ironically got everything he wanted after he learned to better himself and trust his friends to help him out, instead of actively seeking unsavory ways to surpass Cadence.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Nightmare Moon notes his jealousy towards Cadence is very similar to her own towards Celestia, which is why she gave him some of her dark magic that became Darkblood. Blueblood breaks out of this by resolving to better himself, leading to her downfall.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Darkblood, a manifestation of his inner evil and darkness Nightmare Moon made manifest by infested him with her dark magic that tried to perform a Split-Personality Takeover. Darkblood seeks to surpass Cadence, a natural-born Alicorn and Princess Celestia's favorite, by dealing with things in a ruthless and cruel manner. Blueblood later defeated him by acknowledging him as part of him, but resolving to grow past him.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Learned to be a better pony while his aunt's student, though still had an ego and selfish traits. He grew out of it more while facing Nightmare Moon, even destroying his Superpowered Evil Side by acknowledging his own flaws and resolving to better himself.
  • The Un-Favourite: Deconstructed. Blueblood saw himself as this compared to Cadence, who was born an Alicorn which got her more attention from their aunt, Princess Celestia. His feelings of envy and resentment made him vulnerable to Nightmare Moon's magic, resulting in the birth of Darkblood. He later overcomes this by resolving to better himself, allowing him to get rid of Darkblood and defeat Nightmare Moon.
  • Winged Unicorn: Became an Alicorn legitimately.

    Princess Rarity
The Bearer of Generosity, and Prince Blueblood's wife. While things were more or less the same, everything changed when Blueblood arrived in Ponyville.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Unlike Prime Rarity, who saw her Blueblood as the boorish Prince Charmless he is and parted with him on very bad terms, this Rarity fell in love with her Blueblood (after much Character Development on his part) and married him.
  • Happily Married: Unlike Prime Rarity, her and Blueblood actually did fall in love and get married. Much like Prime!Shining Armor, this makes this world's Rarity a Princess by marriage.
  • Hero of Another Story: Presumably had the same, if not similar, adventures as Prime Rarity.

    Twilight Sparkle
  • For Want Of A Nail: While she was a top student in the School for Gifted Unicorns, Twilight was passed over for Blueblood as candidate for Celestia's personal student. Thus, Twilight was still able to make friends and discover the Elements of Harmony, but she's much less dependent on Celestia than her Prime counterpart, and was fortunately able to deal with less stress than she would have if she were to become Celestia's student.
  • In Spite of a Nail: In spite of what happened, she still made friends, moved to Ponyville, and discovered the Elements of Harmony.

    Princess Celestia
  • Parental Favoritism: Deconstructed. Her focusing attention on Cadence, due to the latter being an Alicorn, caused Blueblood to resent her for neglecting him, and envy Cadence for being better than him and having Celestia's attention.

    Princess Cadence

    Nightmare Moon
