    General
  • Flying Seafood Special: Sprites, despite being merponies, have a pair of massive wing-like fins. The Dragon to the Everfrost is also a manta ray-like ice dragon.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: The ponies are all this to some degree. Nymphs are their version of unicorns, Sprites are their version of Pegasi, and Merponies (who have whale traits and have great physical strength) are their Earth Ponies. Sea Ponies also exist.

    Lunar Tides

  • Alternate Self: Despite filling a role similar to Twilight, she's actually an alternate Moon Dancer.
  • Embodiment of Virtue: Ultimately becomes the Element of Enchantment, which also represents Companionship.

    Water Guitar

    Saltwater Taffy

Saltwater Taffy/Agent Sugar Water

    Spine

    Prima Marina

  • Alternate Self: Is an alternate version of Countess Coloratura.
  • Embodiment of Virtue: Comes to represent the Element of Charity, due to putting others before themselves and giving up any chance of escaping the Everfrost to help save Lunar Tide's group escape.
  • In-Series Nickname: Like her prime self, she has one: Rina.
  • Nice Girl: Gives a family the money needed to get away from the Everfrost out of the kindness of her heart.

    Vuurvis

  • Alternate Self: Is an alternate version of Zecora.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: She's venomous due to her Lionfish half, but is just as benevolently moral as the main Zecora. Downplayed in that the poison isn't even lethal, just extremely painful.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Shows up to help the group against a Sea Monster lurking in the Dark Water using her venomous spines.
  • Embodiment of Virtue: Comes to represent the Element of Compassion due to still having the heart to help and be kind to others despite the mistreatment she received.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is part of an African name for the Lionfish (or Zebrafish) Diepwater vuurvis. This was done because her prime self's name is simply Zebra in an African language.
  • Poisonous Person: Her fish half is a Lionfish (also called a Zebra fish), and as such the spines on her back contain venomous barbs she can use.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: Like her prime self, she speaks in rhyme.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: Admits many who come to Dark Water believe she's an evil witch and is reasonably upset by this, but states she just can't find it in her heart to hate them and thus still shows them compassion.

    AK Schooling/Daring Depths

  • Alternate Self: Of Daring Do. Even her name reflects this, being Daring Depths.
  • Embodiment of Virtue: Comes to represent the Element of Devotion, due to her dedication to saving artifacts and the world from harm.
  • I Work Alone: Tries this like her prime counterpart, but Frost Talon showing up forces her to work with the group. She later admits it's because her work is dangerous and she doesn't want others to get hurt.

    Princess Vevela

    Princess Aisa/Nightmare Everfrost
  • Alternate Self: Turns out to be one of Luna/Nightmare Moon.
  • An Ice Person: Is the Princess of cold and ice, her Superpowered Evil Side is powerful enough to freeze the entire world.
  • Arc Villain: Is the main antagonist of this world.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: As Nightmare Everfrost, she was actively trying to freeze over the world. The first thing Lunar notes when transported to her throne room is how much colder it is.
  • It Can Think: At first seems to just be a mindless force of destruction, but gradually is revealed to be a thinking entity actively commanding Frost Talon. It's eventually revealed to actually be Nightmare Everfrost, Nightmare Moon's counterpart and Princess Aisa's Superpowered Evil Side.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Nightmare Everfrost was imprisoned in the ice caps a thousand years ago using the Elements of Unity, but recently escaped.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Nightmare Everfrost is one for Princess Aisa, who felt rejected and unloved due to ponies shunning her cold winters for her sister's warm weather. She's purified by the Elements of Unity.
  • World-Wrecking Wave: Her influence as Nightmare Everfrost spreading over the world, freezing everything it touches in ice.

    Frost Talon

  • An Ice Person: Breaths ice instead of fire, and almost seems made of it.
  • Badass Boast: Gives several of them whenever he confronts the heroes.
Frost Talon: Little one, I don't think you know who you trifle with. I am Frost Talon! For 7,000 years I have haunted the depths! Taking what I wish, destroying what I wish! Leaving frozen desolation in my wake! My armor is iron! My teeth are like swords! My claws harpoons! The swipe of my tail a whirlpool! My wings are a tidal wave! And my breath an ice age! And though I am strong, my master is stronger still!...So, little pony, do you really intend to defy us?!"
  • The Dragon: To the Everfrost, who he serves to prevent his 7,000th spring, and thus his evil deeds finally catching up with him, from coming.
  • Expy: Is based off Gmork, with his motivation coming from Aeon the Terrible.
  • Implacable Man: Unknown to the heroes until Vuurvis reveals his existence, he's been pursuing them relentlessly across the ocean the entire story. When they actually fight him, he proves very difficult to meaningfully harm.
  • Killed Off for Real: Is shattered to bits after being turned into an ice sculpture by the Elements of Unity and shatters on impact.
  • Leitmotif: A Mighty Enemy Appears from Lost Odyssey.
  • Literally Shattered Lives: Is turned to an ice statue by the Elements of Unity and shatters falling down a ravine, killing him.
  • Mortality Phobia: His motivation is to stop his 7,000th winter from ending as it's predicted he will finally receive his Laser-Guided Karma for his actions.
  • Oh, Crap!: Has this reaction to the Elements of Unity turning the surrounding area into a Spring-like appearance, thus fulfilling the prophecy of his demise.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Is an ice dragon with manta ray-like attributes and gills.
  • Screw Destiny: His reason for serving the Everfrost: he wants to avoid a prophecy predicting his wicked deeds finally catching up with him at the end of his 7,000th winter by locking the world in an eternal winter so spring never comes. He fails.
  • Sea Monster: Is described by Vuurvis as a 'terror of the deep' and is a giant, manta ray-like dragon.
  • Smug Super: He is very aware of the fact he's an ancient, powerful ice dragon.
  • Time Abyss: Is 7,000 years old.
