Main Characters
Eloise
Eloise is the main protagonist of the series of books, movies, and TV Series adaption and is often always the main focus of each story. She is a self-proclaimed city child and the 'princess' of the Plaza Hotel where she lives with her nanny while her mother is away in Paris and Europe.
- Cheerful Child: Eloise is nearly always happy and finds the good in many situations, even if it means causing trouble.
- Disappeared Dad: Her father is never seen or mentioned in any of the adaptions. Some fans often speculate her mother's lawyer Mr. Nye could be her father. However, this is debatable.
- Homeschooled Kids: Eloise absolutely hates school, so she has an in-home tutor named Philip. Eloise describes him as being "boring boring boring."
- Hotel Hellion: Eloise is often said to be the Trope Maker.
- Parental Abandonment: Her mother is away in Paris, and there is no mention or sight of her father at all. She lives with her nanny, who is her "mostly companion."
- Pink Means Feminine: Eloise's room has pink walls, and she tends to wear a pink hair bow.
Nanny
Nanny is Eloise's nurse and guardian. She is considered a secondary character and looks after Eloise in the hotel while her mother is in Paris.
- British Stuffiness: Not too terribly, but her accent sometimes rubs off on Eloise.
- Cool Old Lady: She often drinks and smokes while watching boxing matches on TV with Eloise.
- Everyone Calls Her "Barkeep": Nanny is always referred to as Nanny. In Eloise the Animated Series when we meet her brother, he simply calls her 'Sissy', but every other adult calls her simply 'Nanny' and even other children.
- Parental Substitute: Nanny is more of a mother to Eloise more than her own mother is and even calls Eloise her 'pet' or 'poppet'.
