Highland Kingdom has existed from time uncounted. A Highland man's honour means more to him than his own life. Sadly, many paid the ultimate price for honour when they opposed the Dark God Madruk. Despite sustaining heavy casualties, Highland was the first kingdom to rebuild after Madruk was locked away by Harsgalt. The monarchs who have ruled over the land have done so with a kind but firm hand. They have created a kingdom that is peaceful, tranquil, and policed by the chivalrous Highland Knights.
Highland is known for its farming, agricultural, and forestry industries, all of which are under private ownership. These products are not only used locally, but are also exported to other nations. The most pressing economic concern is the lack of industrialized work. Tools, equipment, and other manufactured items are imported from other nations.
Situated at the south-east corner of Legendra, Highland has an excellent geographical location. With the ocean bordering it on two sides, invading threats can really only come from the north and west. With good fortification of these vulnerable fronts, Highland is relatively secure.
- Big Damn Heroes: In Teiris' campaign, he visits her very early on, and hands over command of Highland to her while he goes Walking the Earth to uncover the true reasons behind the war. Much, much later on, when Ryskim kidnaps Laine to bait Teiris, Wein shows up and demolishes his army of demons (in the other campaigns, Zanon fills this role), so that Teiris and her army can rescue Laine. Wein joins Teiris' army for good after that.
- Blow You Away: His second skill is Hyper-Storm.
- Character Development: In his campaign, he effectively comes of age, growing from an insecure teenaged king into a great leader.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Wein and Teiris have known each other since they were children, and have shared a mutual crush since. They end up together in all of the endings.
- The Good King: Considered a just and compassionate monarch by pretty much everybody.
- Flash Step: Sword Rush.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A very heroic king with blond hair.
- Happily Married: With Teiris in the epilogue.
- Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: Billed front and centre as the hero? Check. Idealistic (if a little naive) paragon of heroism in-game? Check. A Knight in Shining Armor? Check.
- Heroes Prefer Swords: Can equip the Stargem Sword from the Snow Shrine.
- Interspecies Romance: His love interest is Teiris, the Elf Queen.
- Knight in Shining Armor: Wears a shiny white armor, and won't hesitate to help those in need, even people who had been trying to kill him not long ago.
- Official Couple: With Teiris.
- Razor Wind/ Sword Beam: Sonic Boom.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: A truly competent and beloved king at 17.
- The Ace/ Master Swordsman: Is one of the game's best Fighter generals, alongside Garyus of Topaz.
- The Big Guy: Easily one of Highland's finest warriors, but not good at anything that doesn't involve fighting.
- Calling Your Attacks: Has some of the best lines in combat:
- Sonic Boom (his starter spell): "No one does it like Rudger! Atomic wedgie, comin' up!"
- Sonic Blast (his ultimate, tier 3 spell): "This might sting a little."
- Chivalrous Pervert/ Mr. Vice Guy: Will always hit on any female that crosses his path.
- Helmets Are Hardly Heroic
- Perma-Stubble: Even reflected in his sprite!
- The Rival: Has this dynamic with Kharhaz.
- Blow You Away: Has the Hyper-Storm spell as his third ability.
- The Fettered
- Helmets Are Hardly Heroic
- The Lancer: To Wein, as the leader of the Highland Knights.
- Knight in Shining Armor: Takes knighthood very seriously.
- Straight Man: Usually to Rudger's antics.
- The Heart: Caring, compassionate and averse to violence.
- Holy Hand Grenade: Holy Blast
- Light The Way: All her spells are holy magic.
- The Smart Girl: The most intelligent of all of Highland characters.
- The Smurfette Principle: The only female of Highland's starting party.
- Squishy Wizard
- White Magician Girl
- Tagalong Kid: Pretty young, but still a good fighter nonetheless.
- Devious Daggers: Par the course for Thief generals.
- Mage Killer: Though to a lesser extent compared to Ninjas.
- Ambiguously Brown: Ogredd.
- Blow You Away: Both of them have the Hyper-Storm spell.
- Genius Bruiser: Despite being a Knight, Ogredd is intelligent enough to fortify or search castles. Lone sometimes starts with the requisite 70 Intelligence as well.
- My Master, Right or Wrong: Ogredd knows that Borgon is a massive bastard, but keeps serving under him because he's bound to serve Travan's ruling family. Wein snapped him out of this mindset.
- Sidekick: Lone appears to be Ogredd's squire.
