Captain Falcon
One of the heroes, hailing from the F-Zero universe. Captain Falcon is a valiant individual, and being a seasoned fighter, knows much about The Convergence and how everything works.
- Calling Your Attacks: In his fight with Blood Falcon.
- Experienced Protagonist: He was one of the earliest fighters to arrive in The Convergence, and has fought in each tournament for the past ten years.
- Lightning Bruiser: Is fairly quick, but still manages to pack a punch.
- Mr. Exposition: For Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog
A hero hailing from the world of Mobius. He recently arrived in this world, and has yet to get used to the changes from his homeworld.
- Audience Surrogate: He asks Captain Falcon several questions about the world, primarily how the tournament works.
- Deadpan Snarker: Let's out several quips every once in a while.
- Deuteragonist
- I Shall Taunt You: In his fight against Blood Falcon, which threw off the villain's concentration.
- Super-Speed: While it's toned down compared to his usual speed, Sonic's still the fastest fighter.
- Unwitting Pawn: Helps Shadow fight Mewtwo, despite the former clearly being the villain.
Shadow the Hedgehog
A friend of Sonic's who worked alongside the other villains until he was rescued by Mewtwo.- Adaptational Villainy: When he's on the villain's side, anyway. He returns to his standard Anti-Hero personality afterward.
- Berserk Button: Hates being mocked.
- Co-Dragons: With Black Shadow when they're working together.
- Flight: One of his abilities.
- Good All Along: Was merely brainwashed by Phantom Ganon.
- Heel–Face Turn: Undergoes one upon Mewtwo freeing him from Phantom Ganon's control.
- Power Floats
- Power Palms: Can shoot energy out of his hands.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Blue Oni to Black Shadow's Red Oni.
- The Stoic
- Surrounded by Idiots: Considers Black Shadow to be a complete imbecile. If it weren't for the fact that they have a mission to do, he would have gladly allowed Mewtwo to blast him.
Mewtwo
One of the older fighters, and a close friend of Lucario.
- Charged Attack: Tried to launch a Shadow Ball against Black Shadow. However, it failed at the last moment when Shadow caught on.
- His Psybeam is another example, requiring him to put all his concentration into the move.
- Experienced Protagonist: Knows all too well the awkwardness that Lucario is feeling about adjusting to this new world.
- The Mentor: To Lucario.
- Student–Master Team: The Master to Lucario's Student.
- Telepathy: One of his many Psychic Powers.

- Student–Master Team: He's the Student to Mewtwo's Master.
- Taught by Experience: Defending the portal leads him to realize that he needs further experience in battle to hone his skills.
Link
The Hero of Hyrule, and one of the older fighters.
- Adaptational Wimp: In the Zelda series, Link is never shown to give up hope, due to being blessed with the Triforce of Courage. Here, however, he often throws his matches and seems to take a half-hearted stance with whatever fights he sees through to the end.
- Properly Paranoid: Suspects that Ganondorf may be plotting something. While this isn't anything new, Link's paranoia becomes justified when both the stadium where the tournament was held and the portal that connects to each fighter's world are suddenly attacked.
- Reluctant Warrior: Intentionally forfeits most of his matches as of late. He tries to justify it by saying it's to preserve his strength and avoid injury in the event Ganondorf strikes.
Sheik
The alter ego of Princess Zelda and an ally of Link.
- Action Girl: Plans to take up the mantle as Hyrule's hero given Link's recent apathy.
- Adaptation Personality Change: In the Zelda games, Sheik (and by extension Zelda) is depicted as a stoic yet kind individual. While Sheik retains her reserved nature and wisdom here, she's also become more prone to violence.
- Chain Pain: Is a bit too eager to use her chain on foes.
- Enhanced Interrogation Techniques: Willing to beat the ever-loving tar out of someone if they have info she needs.
- Ninja
- Samus Is a Girl: Sonic mistakenly believes Sheik is a man. Captain Falcon quickly informs him that this isn't the case.

- Bring It: Says something akin to it before every battle.
- Tornado Move: His Mach Tornado attack.
- Worthy Opponent: To Fox.
Bowser
The King of the Koopas. Despite his reputation as a known villain, his kingdom comes under assault from Ganondorf; this prompts him to get revenge and join with the main heroes.
- Dragons Prefer Princesses: Though considering Peach has Taken A Level In Badass in addition to having Mario and Luigi's protection, Bowser is left wondering if kidnapping her is even worth the trouble anymore.
- Enemy Mine: If Word of God is any indication, he teams up to join the fight against Ganondorf.
- Evil Versus Evil: Ganondorf launches an assault on his castle, prompting the Koopa King to retaliate.
- Harmless Villain: To the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom, hence why everyone (Bowser himself included) is unprepared for an attack from Ganondorf.
- Not Me This Time: Isn't responsible for the recent attack on the Mushroom Kingdom.
- Villainous Crush: On Peach, per the norm.
Peach
Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. After her kingdom is attacked by Ganondorf's forces, she joins up with the main heroes.
- Action Girl: Though not as much as Sheik, she's still a force to be reckoned with.
- Enemy Mine: With Bowser, since the Koopa Kingdom was also sacked by Ganondorf's forces.
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: Will join the fight to stop Ganondorf's ambitions to avenge her kingdom.
- Took a Level in Badass: If Bowser's word is any indication, Peach has been participating in several tournaments as means of improving her self-defense.
Fox
One of the top fighters in the tournament, hailing from the Lylat system.
- The Ace: The best out of all the fighters, without question.
- Defeating the Undefeatable: Managed to beat Meta Knight in the finals, something that no one thought to be possible.
- Experienced Protagonist: Like Captain Falcon, he was one of the first to arrive in The Convergence: as such, he's had plenty of time to build a rep.
- Fantastic Fighting Style: His "shine" technique, which utilizes a combination of his reflector and physical attacks.
- The Leader: Though he doesn't bear any official title, his reputation is enough to warrant him some authority.
- He does officially become this after the defeat of Black Shadow, forming a sort of "counter rebellion."
- Worthy Opponent: To Meta Knight.
Falco
One of the top fighters, and Fox's closest friend.
- Didn't See That Coming: Didn't anticipate Meta Knight, who is a newcomer, to defeat him.
- Fantastic Fighting Style: Apparently prefers to "style" on his opponents, which involves taking them out in the flashiest ways possible.
- Friendly Rivalry: With Fox. He had hoped that the two of them would face off in the finals, but Meta Knight ended up winning instead.
- Punched Across the Room: In the battle against Black Shadow. He lands so hard, in fact, he leaves an indent in the wall.
- Rousing Speech: Gives a few words of encouragement to Fox before his finals match.
Ganondorf
The King of Evil, hailing from the kingdom of Hyrule. Ganondorf's ambitions have gone beyond conquering Hyrule, and he now desires to rule over all conceivable unverses.

- Magnificent Bastard
- The Man Behind the Monsters: Hold absolute authority over the hordes of monsters that serve him. Justified since he creates them with his dark magic.
- Multiversal Conqueror: His ultimate goal is to conquer every world the fighters hail from.
- Xanatos Gambit: Regardless of whether or not the initial rebellion succeeded, he was still able to launch an assault on the Mushroom Kingdom and put his real plan into motion.
Phantom Ganon
A minion of Ganondorf's, who aids the villains in their quest for world domination.
- Actually a Doombot: The Phantom Ganon fought in Shadow's mind is nothing more than a fragment of the real phantom's power. The actual Phantom, in turn, serves as an offshoot of Ganondorf.
- Calling Your Attacks
- Casting a Shadow: Uses a variety of dark magic attacks.
- Deadpan Snarker: His response when he was discovered by Mewtwo:Phantom Ganon: I wasn't expecting any visitors, so you'll have to excuse me if I can't offer you any snacks or refreshing beverages.
- Demonic Possession: Took possession of Shadow's body.
- The Dragon: To Ganondorf.
- Faux Affably Evil
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: By Mewtwo's Psybeam. It doesn't kill him, though, since it was merely an offshoot of the phantom's power.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Does this often.Phantom Ganon: Looks like you're all out of rings. You know what that means: GAME OVER!
- Mistaken Identity: Mistaken for the real Ganondorf.
- Motor Mouth: He rarely shuts his mouth.
- Power Floats
- Thinking Up Portals: Appears from one to confront Mewtwo and Shadow.
Black Shadow
One of the villains working to take over the world.
- Adaptational Wimp: In the series, he's portrayed as a brutish imbecile. In the F-Zero franchise, Black Shadow is actually a cunning mastermind who is feared enough to be called a "king of evil" by some.
- Arch-Enemy: To Captain Falcon.
- Blood Knight: Absolutely loves fighting, to the point where he considers it a game.
- The Brute
- Casting a Shadow: Is capable of using dark-based attacks, notably his "Black Fire" move.
- Co-Dragons: With Shadow.
- Jerkass Has a Point: When Falcon complains he's stealing his moves:Black Shadow: Oh yeah, because naming your moves after animals is so original.
- Made of Iron: Even the most powerful attacks hardly faze him.
- Moveset Clone: His "Bull Punch" is literally just the Falcon Punch with a bull.
- One-Man Army: Effortlessly takes down Falco, Link and Lucario.
- Power Floats
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red Oni to Shadow's Blue Oni.
Blood Falcon
One of the villains working to take over the world and a subordinate of Black Shadow.
- Charged Attack: Has one that requires him to put all of his focus on charging it up. When Sonic asks him why it's taking so long, he messes up and lets the attack off too early.
- Evil Knockoff: Of Captain Falcon.
- Fantasy Sequence: Has one depicting how he will defeat Sonic. When Sonic interrupts, Falcon tells him to stop interrupting him.
- Large Ham: Oh, so much.
- Pride: Very prideful of himself, considering Captain Falcon to be inferior.
- Third-Person Person: Occasionally refers to himself in the third person.
Ghirahim
The self-proclaimed Demon Lord. Ghirahim pledges his allegiance to Ganondorf, the Evil King being a reincarnation of his master Demise.
- Co-Dragons: With Zant.
- Cool Sword
- Demon Lords and Archdevils: Holds the title of Demon Lord.
- Monster Lord
Zant
The Usurper King of the Twili, hailing from the Twilight Realm. Having served Ganondorf once before, Zant pledges his services to the King of Evil again in the pursuit of universal domination.
- Black Magic: Befitting a Twili of his stature. In the past his powers were granted to him by Ganondorf; whether or not this is the case again remains to be seen.
- Co-Dragons: With Ghirahim.
- Monster Lord: Seeing as how he creates the Shadows Beasts in his home game, it's possible the same applies here.
- Pummel Duel: With Captain Falcon.
- Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Can go toe-to-toe with the equally fast Captain Falcon.
Vaati
The villainous Wind Mage of the Picori people. In his search for ultimate power, Vaati has joined forces with Ganondorf and serves as a commander in his armies.
