"I feel so alive when I'm in a maid outfit! It's like my true calling! ... Wellllll, it's more the outfit than the job itself. Although I do love scrubbing the tub now and then, just to see all of the bubbles fly everywhere!"

Voiced by: ToxicSoul77

A maid who never finds herself short of work in the lair, Messibelle is a slime girl made of cleaning products who is introduced in Season 2 as the co-host for the Dr. Crafty spin-off series: Crafty's Top Ten Tub. She is perpetually energetic and excitable, holding a passion and emotionality for just about anything. Sometimes, this energy can get to be too much for her fellow Crewmates, especially since it also fuels Messi’s unparalleled lust. If she finds something attractive, she will absolutely let everyone know through her lewd comments and jokes, some of which catch even Crafty off-guard at times.

Messibelle is, by far, the youngest of the Crafty Crew. She was created by Crafty during the break between Seasons 1 and 2, after he spent a lot of time dumping cleaning products down his drain. Crafty, grappling with his fear of blobs, was initially scared of her, but his fear lessened the moment he gave Messi her signature maid outfit. Since then, the two happily engage in some of the goofiest shenanigans on the show. Messi soon starts seeing these interactions as something more, coming to terms with the idea of Crafty being her surrogate father.

Messibelle was designed by Scribbled-Death, an artist who created some assets for the show, with some noticeable revisions made by Crafty. Scribbled-Death's original Concept Art for Messi can be found in this screenshot from "New Season, New Friends", during which it flashes onscreen for a split second. Currently, this is the only method to view Messibelle's original design, as the file that includes it has yet to be posted publicly.

    A-H
  • Animal Motifs: Messibelle's design evokes snails in some subtle, but thematically coherent ways. She's a cleaning lady in much the same way that a snail is a scavenger—both are creatures that provide sanitation for their environments. The correlation is supported by her snail shell bonnet and the snail-like slime trails that she leaves behind her whenever she moves. Even her horniness ties in with the snail-theming, as snails are very sexually active animals.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: The way Messi's slime dress drapes down onto the floor evokes a gastropod's foot, continuing the snail-theming in her design that strongly coincides with her role as a cleaning lady. And because the slime dress is fashioned from her own body, it comes off as a very half-hearted attempt to dress modestly, as she's effectively naked from the waist down. It suits her confidence (and, in some cases, shamelessness) in expressing her sexuality.
  • Attention Whore: Throughout Season 2, Messi is defined by her thirst for sexual attention, which her Crewmates quickly find disruptive, disturbing, or both. No matter their protests, she persistently maintains a perverted sense of humor while flirting with nearly every woman on the show—guests and coworkers alike—in socially inappropriate ways. She also consistently speaks in a deep, sultry tone to make her intentions even more clear. By Season 3, however, this need for attention lessens as her priorities change. Episodes like "Couples" show that, while this side of her isn't entirely gone, she's doesn't let it distract her from contributing to the show, especially through some cleaner, eccentric comedy and her newfound knowledge of character relationships. She also lets her voice be more vivacious than seductive, to reflect her development.
  • Badass Adorable: Messi is a plucky young slime maid, and while she may not be as combat-capable as Nurse, Messibelle nonetheless knows how to throw down — especially with her mop and stretchiness. This is especially the case when Crafty's life is at stake, during which she's second only to Nurse in taking action.
    • In "Couples," Messi swats away the Suicide Squad incarnations of the Joker and Harley Quinn with her mop quite handily—twice over, and without much effort at all. She later does the same to Disgustilda in "Original Characters R3."
    • In a fight or flight situation, Messi often chooses to fight, which is rather noticeable at the end of "Magic Kingdom Mania." While she's quickly overwhelmed by Mindstein's invading Doc Drohnes, she manages to swat a few of them away—hard—with her mop. Meanwhile, Pepper and Pickles noticeably hesitate before they can act, while Crystelle just concedes to the invasion.
    • Crafty's victory against (the false) Mindstein in "I Need a Hero Academia's" climax is secured thanks to Messi's intervention. With some assistance from Pepper and Kyoko Jiro, Messi manages to restrain Mindstein from all the way up at the castle's top floor from the castle's dungeon, simply by stretching her limbs through some exposed piping. While she loses her grip on one of Mindstein's arms, she creates enough of an opening for Crafty to finish her off.
    • With Crafty and Nurse trapped with Metal Crafty in the lab during "Let's. Get. Metal," Messi is the one to lead the spin-off hosts' charge to rescue them. She successfully pounds her way through the lab's thick security door with just her mop, and by the time she breaks through, she still has more than enough energy to take on Metal. The only reason that she doesn't is that Crafty, Nurse, and Metal all disappear from the lab before Messi and the other co-hosts enter.
  • Berserk Button: Having spent considerable time taking couples counseling courses in-between episodes during Season 3, Messi has developed a hatred for damaging misconceptions about romantic relationships. In particular, "Couples" reveals that the very concept of Stockholm Syndrome—a common criticism about Belle and the Beast's relationship in Beauty of the Beast—angers her to no end. Her own mention of it causes her to go into a surprisingly harsh rant about the people who perpetuate the concept as a genuine issue. The whole scene highlights her newfound knowledge, along with how much her mindset about love has matured since her debut.
Messi: A lot of people over the years have accused this pairing of romanticizing Stockholm Syndrome, wherein a kidnapped victim feels sympathy... for their captor... Those people are f(honk)ing morons. Stockholm Syndrome isn't even a real psychological condition! And if it was, they've got it backwards! Belle doesn't feel sympathy for him, or change her own behaviors for him. The Beast changes for her, and becomes a better human! That's the whole. F(honk)ing. POINT! But nooooo! You guys gotta have your whole hot takes and feel so smart for pointing out logical inconsistencies in a F(HONK)ING FAIRYTALE! Well, goo for you, buddy. How about instead of doing that, you go out and touch a real woman instead of complaining about stories starring a 2D one?!
[Reaching her limit, Messi roars like Godzilla.]
  • Big Eater: She's not as gourmandizing as Pepper, but Messi still has quite an appetite.
    • She admits in "Couples" that she celebrates Valentine's day by gorging on ice cream, and she happily snacks on a surplus of Girl Scout thin mints that piled on Crafty in "Funniest Characters." After a cut, the entire stash is gone; she likely finished every single box.
    • Pepper mentions in "Player Select" that she sometimes has to restrain Messi from eating too much out of the kitchen pantry. Messi declares her stance on the matter off in the distance.
      Messi: No regrets!!
    • As "Original Characters R3" begins, Messi grows hungry for waffles when Crafty declares "Let’s quit waffling and start!" When the list is completely covered, Messi goes off to Pepper’s kitchen and hurries her for some waffles. While it appears that they end up preparing a mountain of pancakes instead, Messi isn't complaining.
Messi: Hurry, Pepper! I yearn for more waffle goodness!!
  • Born as an Adult: According to Crafty's recounting of how he and Messi met in "New Season, New Friends," Messi erupted from the pipes as an adult. While exhibiting some childish tendencies—a poor control over her impulses, a strong desire for attention, occasional naivete, etc.—Messi effectively starts off her tenure on the series with the mindset of an inexperienced young adult. She continuously matures as the show progresses, focusing especially on improving her outlook on relationships, starting with sometime before "Couples," during which she starts taking Couples Counseling courses.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: She's not usually lazy when it comes to cleaning—in fact, Messi's very good at her job, despite her occasional exasperation. However, if someone's conveniently around to help her clean... well, Messi lets them do all the work, as Pepper finds out in "Going Poster."
  • Broomstick Quarterstaff: Messibelle's weapon of choice is her mop, which she dips into her own slime to give it an extra punch. The result is enough to send people flying.
    • The mop briefly gives her a fighting chance in "Magic Kingdom Mania," during Mindstein's siege of Castle Infinia.
    • In "Original Characters R3," she takes to calling her mop the "Slop," a clumsy portmanteau of "slime" and "mop." Crafty isn't terribly impressed by the name, motivating Messi to try and workshop it later after she swats a suddenly appearing Disgustilda out of the bathroom.
Messi: My patent-pending Slop saves the day!
  • Butt-Monkey: Messi occasionally gets the short end of the stick, not unlike Crafty.
    • In "The Legend of Lonk," Nurse jokingly admits that she sold Messi to pay for some alternate Breath Of The Wild armors. Crafty takes the statement at face value and doesn't mind Messi's departure one bit, even after Nurse tries clarifying that she wasn't being serious.
    • In "Best Yu-Gi-Oh Monsters," Crafty has El Shaddoll's card art zoom in closer to the screen so the viewers can get a better look at its details. Somehow, as if it physically came out of its card and approached fast, the art bashes Messi into the camera, on which she lands face-first with a bemused expression and slowly slides off. Only Messi is affected like this; Crafty continues talking uninterrupted, never reacting at all to the art nor what it does to Messi.
    • Her Crackship in "This is Crack(ship)" is the most disastrous of everyone involved by far. When she reunites with Cascade, she's quickly reminded by Ursula, Cascade's girlfriend, that she's taken. A furious Ursula kicks Messi so hard that she splatters against Cascade's body, completely losing her form and overtaking Cascade's own slime.
    • During "GEMS! Truly Outrageous," Nurse makes her rounds about the castle to prepare it against a potential attack from Steven Universe fans. She ends up getting spooked or knocked out of the room by the three spin-off hosts up to that point. Upon stepping into Messi's bathroom, Messi swats her away with her mop—unlike Pepper and Crystelle, Nurse retaliates by punching Messi square in the face.
  • Casual Kink: Messi is deeply in tune with her sexuality, but she is also gratuitously tone-deaf—even overconfident and selfish—about how she expresses it throughout Season 2. If an urge comes up, she absolutely must satisfy it above all else, even if it means derailing an episode's commentary and making her coworkers feel deeply uncomfortable.
    • Messi spends most of "Original Characters" drooling over many of the characters on the episode’s list. Her lusting reaches its apex for the number one entry, wherein she tries offering legitimate commentary about her extremely attractive design, but she eventually caves in. With that, she and the character start making love on the spot, forcing Crafty to cut away until they finish.
    • "Dumb Dingies" is where Messi's lechery reaches its lowest point, and Nurse is forced to intervene. As Nurse explains some studies to Pepper about her biology, Messi outright orgasms as she overhears the conversation, ticking Nurse off and disquieting Pepper even more. Then, Messi grows aroused by Crafty's chibi drawing of her, and when she asks if she can have the drawing to pleasure herself with, Crafty firmly declines. Unperturbed, Messi then attempts to create and have sex with her own clone. At this, Crafty suffers several consecutive panic attacks offscreen as he calls for Nurse, who addresses the matter head-on in an impromptu therapy session with Messi.
Nurse: Okay, Messi. The Doctor managed to stammer out what happened over the course of four consecutive panic attacks... Why are you so thirsty?
Messi: [pompously] I'm a healthy slime girl with healthy interests!
Nurse: [firmly] It goes above and beyond being 'healthy interests' when you start scaring your coworkers.
[A clipboard falls from the ceiling into Nurse's hands.]
Nurse: I'm going to give you a little test to see just how bad it is.
      Messi: A test...?
Nurse: All you have to do is look at these pages I show you, and then tell me the first thing they remind you of. Ready?
Messi: Oh, um... okay. I'm ready.
      [Nurse draws an inkblot sheet.]
      Messi: Girls.
      [Nurse draws another sheet.]
      Messi: Girls.
Nurse: Hm... What about this one?
[Instead of an inkblot sheet, Nurse draws a hazy photograph of a bikini-clad woman. Messi actually takes her time to answer, causing Nurse to beam in anticipation for a different response.]
      Messi: Hmmmmmmmm... Girls.
Nurse: Ugh, I give up! You're hopeless! Just don't let this happen again...
    • After Nurse puts her in her place over her perverse behavior in "Dumb Dingies," Messi starts committing to improving herself. It takes a bit for her to really get going, but as early as "Fighting Game Characters," she starts making lewd comments more carefully, keeping them tame and unobtrusive to the overall commentary. She even redirects the conversation away from some sexy content when Bayonetta comes up, clearly holding herself back from her old habits.
[Some footage of Bayonetta appears, showing the titular character dramatically undressing for battle. Messi suddenly removes the footage from onscreen.]
Messi: [blushing] Okay, I'm definitely gonna be saving those for later. But, uh, isn't this a show for all ages?
Crafty: Really? This coming from you?
  • The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: Starting with Season 3, Messibelle becomes well-versed in couples counseling and romantic relationships, a contributing factor behind her concern over Crafty and Nurse's relationship. However, it never occurs to her to apply her lessons to her own love life. Not only has she never landed a long-term romantic relationship, but she's extremely oblivious about the people who are interested in dating her—especially Serena. One of Serena's many unsuccessful attempts to woo Messi is shown in "Couples," where, towards the end, she approaches her in a wedding gown after Messi muses about her lack of a girlfriend. She's clearly offering herself up to Messi, but Messi has absolutely no reaction to the sight aside from the surprise of Crafty swatting Serena away. Serena soon returns after Messi explains her Valentines' tradition, in hopes of scoring a date.
Crafty: Well, I have to ask, Messi. What're your plans for Valentines' day?
Messi: Well, I may not have a special lady in my life yet, but I can still gorge on chocolate and ice cream while watching Bridgette Jones' Diary for the eight millionth time.
    [Serena appears.]
Serena: I can help with that, Ms. Messibelle!
Messi: Oh, great! Can you go to the store and buy me a big tub of ice cream? I'm all out.
Serena: I'd love you— I-I mean, love to! Be right back...
    [Serena leaves.]
Messi: [oblivious] What a nice girl.
Crafty: ...You're actually a complete idiot, aren't you?
    Messi: What?
[Crafty just facepalms and walks away.]
    Messi: ...Whaaat?
  • Covered in Gunge:
    • Messi's slime is constantly leaking out of her body and pooling at her feet. Consequentially, she leaves slime behind on the floor; anyone unaware or unlucky enough is liable to slip on her remnants (mostly Crafty). She doesn't have any control over it, and it's a constant problem for her even by "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped."
[Crafty makes his way down the castle's halls to the lab; unbeknownst to him, he's just spent the last four months in a coma.]
      Crafty: Morning, Messibel—EEEEEYAAAAAAHHHHHH-HA-HA-HAOOWWW!!!!!!
[Crafty slips on something on the floor and smashes into the wall offscreen, passing a deeply surprised Messi on his way. He returns back onscreen in a huff.]
Crafty: Messi, you got slime on the floor again! Clean this up this instant, young lady!
Messi: Wha? Uh? Right away, master!!
[Messi sheepishly gets right to work cleaning up her own mess.]
    • Surprisingly, it's rare for Messi's slime to cover people. "This is Crack(ship)" houses the one instance where Messi's slime actually attaches itself to someone, and it's only because she was forced into it. Another, partial slime girl, Cascade, comes to visit, and her girlfriend, Ursula, is none too happy to see her flirting with Messi. She and Messi start bickering, prompting Cascade to try and deescalate the situation. Fed up, Ursula just kicks Messi so hard that she ends up completely overtaking Cascade's own slime outfit.
Cascade: Ladies, please! Can't we all just get along. Don't you want to see what happens when you mix us all together~?
      Messi: Wait, what?
      Ursula: That's it! I'm done!
      Cascade: Well, fine! Me too!
Messi: Wait a minute, guys... Let's calm down here.
Ursula: If you really wanna see what happens when you two mix, then let me help you!
[Ursula rears up and kicks Messi square in the chest, sending her flying into Cascade offscreen. Satisfied, Ursula exits, upon which Cascade woozily stands back up. She now has Messi splattered all across her body, with Messi's face covering her breasts.]
Cascade: Th-this isn't what I meant at all!
      Messi: Whyyyyyy meeeeee...?
      [Cascade collapses.]
  • Daddy's Girl: Messi's existence owes itself to Crafty, and for that, she's immensely thankful to him. Over time, this thankfulness evolves into a complicated interest in developing a familial relationship with Crafty.
    • She at first lets the notion slip during "Crafty Fan Characters," where, in a moment of thankfulness for him keeping her around, she calls him "Daddy." Both of them are pretty disturbed by the thought at first and decide to shift the conversation elsewhere thereafter. However, by the time of "Disney Characters," both Crafty and Messi are comfortable with this new layer to the relationship. After they finish discussing Goofy's relationship with his son, Messi asks for her allowance. Crafty makes sure that she's done all of her assigned chores before rewarding her—it's exactly how a father and his daughter would interact. Messi even repeats the same thanks that she gave in "Crafty Fan Characters," this time without a hint of awkwardness afterward.
Messi: That reminds me: Can I have my allowance, Daddy?
Crafty: Did you take out the trash?
      Messi: Grrr... Yes.
Crafty: Did you finish your homework?
      Messi: Uughhh, yes.
Crafty: Did you clean your room?
      Messi: We're in my room.
      Crafty: Wellll, okay then!
      [Crafty presents some dollar bills.]
      Messi: Yay! Thank you, daddy!
[Messi takes the money and dashes off somewhere.]
Crafty: ... Huh. I wonder what she does with her allowance, anyway?
[The scene cuts to a strip club, where Messi has taken all the women from "Crafty Fan Characters."]
Messi: [blushing] Enjoy the show, ladies! This one's on me...
    • Throughout those Season 3 episodes, Messi's filial devotion to Crafty is played for laughs. It's not until Hero Month's Spin-Off Special that she fully comes to terms with the idea of Crafty being her father. But after that, Season 4 makes a point to have Messi interchangeably address Crafty as her father a lot more often. In fact, by "Original Characters R3," when the topic of a particularly motherly OC comes up, Messi reveals her interest in Crafty's potential girlfriend—whoever that may be—serving as her surrogate mother.
Messi: Dad, when am I gonna have a mom, too?
Crafty: And, just like that, I'm sad again.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: A consistent problem for Messi throughout Season 2 is that she’s distracted from giving relevant commentary by her sexual urges. Crafty occasionally tries to unsuccessfully get her back on track, which he silently does during the Number Eight pick’s discussion in “Original Characters,” but only briefly.
Crafty: The immediate thing that caught my attention was—
Messi: How riddick this thick is~.
Crafty: The color palette. The purples are vivid, and the highly saturated horns and eyes Quickly draw you into the face. And the white shirt frames the chest and keeps your focus on the upper areas of the body, before naturally traveling down—
Messi: To take in that bootylicious shape~!
[Crafty shoots Messi an annoyed look.]
Messi: Ahem... Oh, and uh... the high heels give her a very firm and powerful stance, which... which adds to the stern expression... Oh Blob, step on me... STEP ON ME MY QUE—
    [The camera cuts to noise.]
  • Ditzy Genius: Messi is no less intelligent than her Crewmates—her commentary tends to be just as insightful as everyone else's—though she nonetheless demonstrates bouts of naivety or literal-mindedness.
    • In "Original Characters," the first episode of the Top Ten Tub, Crafty comments on an OC who is dark in concept. Messi comments that she can still see him, thinking the OC was supposed to be in the dark.
    • After her well-argued Stockholm Syndrome rant about Beauty and the Beast in "Couples," Messi immediately forgets what her next part of the script is and restarts the Belle and Beast section that she had just completed. The scene transitions to the next entry on the episode's list before she finishes again.
    • After providing yet more informative commentary about Red Vs. Blue's Caboose and Phineas and Ferb's Doofenshmirtz in "Funniest Characters," Messi has a lapse in judgment and buys grosses of two items: t-shirts commemorating Caboose and girl-scout Thin Mints. Both of them pile up on Messi and Crafty respectively.
  • Double Entendre: A cornerstone of Messi's humor comes from the innuendos that she drops whenever she's aroused by someone. She's rather clever with them and is able to come up with them on the fly, but that doesn't stop Crafty from getting annoyed when they derail the discussion.
    • When she sees the Number Eight entry on the "Original Characters" list, she slyly comments on the character's purple skin while making a reference to a certain drink.
Crafty: Our next pick comes from...
Messi: HELLO! Toss out that Sunny-D, 'cuz I'm CHUGGIN' that purple stuff~!
Crafty: ... Our... next pick comes from WaterMystic277 on Twitter.
    • In "Dumb Dingies," Messi notices how attractive she looks in her chibi drawing, and in doing so, she ends up parrying Crafty's remark about it by twisting his words into an innuendo.
Messibelle: Oh! Is it my turn now? She looks so... succulent~.
Crafty: [somewhat uncomfortable now] Well, she's not a cactus...
Messibelle: And if she was, she could prick me any time she wanted~.
  • Emotional Maturity Is Physical Maturity: Messi was quite literally born a young adult woman, and she has the mentality to match, even when accounting for her childish tendencies. In "Happy Crafty Day," she explains how she was self-aware right out of the gate; her very first thought upon exiting the castle's piping was to thank Crafty for making her in the first place.
  • Emotional Regression: In the "I Need a Hero Academia" Spin-Off Special, Messi's Top Ten Tub segment lists Crafty's favorite heroes. Due to their imprisonment, she, Pepper, and Crystelle are forced to hold the episode without Crafty. The list finishes off with All Might, who Messi praises for being such an effective father figure, which causes her to start missing Crafty—her father figure. The stress of the situation finally catches up with her, and Messi starts calling out for him in a manner similar to a frightened little girl. While not the first moment where she calls him her father, it's the first time in which the appellation is treated seriously. As she sobs, Messi cuddles up against a concerned Pepper, crying into her as if she were her mother.
[The final hero on the list is All Might, and Pepper and Messi are wrapping up their discussion on him.]
Messibelle: You get to see frailty to his character, yet the desire to keep what he believes in alive, by fighting as best as he can despite his condition. I think a lot of us relate to not only working ourselves to death in the name of our passions, but All Might is such a strong inspiration as both a hero and an all-around good person. He's everyone's favorite ‘dad' character, and...
[Messi suddenly starts to choke up; Pepper picks up on the change in mood immediately.]
    Messi: ... And........
    [Messi completely breaks down sobbing.]
    Messi: I want my daddy......!
[Pepper hurries over to Messi, catching her just before she crumples down to the floor and letting Messi sob into her.]
    Messi: I miss my daddy............!
  • Establishing Character Moment: When introducing Messi in "New Season, New Friends," Crafty merely makes mention of how energetic and excitable she is to Nurse. Thus, Nurse is completely unprepared for exactly where Messi's energy comes from when she suddenly starts flirting with her. Before Messi does that, she teases the audience a bit with a special set of poses wherein she presses her face against the camera.
Crafty: There we are, some nice, fresh art!
Nurse: Speaking of fresh, you could use a bath. You reek of Echidna spit...
[Messi, who has been standing silently in the background to represent her finished promotional artwork, suddenly gasps and dashes about the screen. She runs circles around Crafty and Nurse before planting her face firmly on the camera, splattering it with slime.]
    Messi: Did someone say bath~?
Crafty: Oh no! My fourth wall! I only just had that installed!
Messi: Oh-ho, sorry, master. Turns out I'm one-half flubber. Ehehehehe!
Nurse: She's... quite the messy belle, isn't she?
[Messi eagerly jumps backward to curtsy upon hearing Nurse's question, then returns to pressing up against the camera.]
Crafty: Um, yes. That is literally her name.
Messi: Heyyyyyy~.... Some people are looking at me. How're y'all doin'~?
[Messi removes herself from the camera.]
Messi: ANYWAY! I'm Messibelle, one of the new side-series hosts for Season 2. Pleasure to meet all of you... Hmhmhm...
[Messi turns to a suddenly very confused Nurse.]
Messi: Especially you~. What're you doing after the show~?
    Nurse: Wh-wha...?
Messi: [slowly lowering her voice to a whisper] How 'bout I show you my dressing room, and we can have good.... Clean.... Fun~?
[Nurse breathes a sigh of arousal and giggles.]
Crafty: If by 'dressing room' you mean 'bathroom,' then I think you and I have been reading the same dictionary. Now hurry up and clean this fourth wall up!
Messi: Oh, yes, uh... Right away, master!
[Then, as she leaves, Messi turns to Nurse one last time.]
    Messi: [whispering] Callll meeeee~.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Fitting in with her flirty, romantic, and passionately sexual personality, Messi’s pupils are shaped like hearts. They even change into broken hearts whenever she's mad or upset.
  • Extreme Omnisexual:
    • Aside from being a lesbian, Messi's restrictions on who she finds attractive are sparse. As long as they're humanoid women that are able to consent and are not taken (or at least not interested in polyamory in the case of Ursula during "This is Crack(ship)"), nothing is off the table. "Original Characters," has her drooling over a demoness, a cyclops, and a spider woman, to name a few of the women that she finds attractive. The very next episode, "Best Pokemon Designs," shows that not even human-shaped Pokémon are safe from her lustful gaze, which is demonstrated when she comments on Tsareena's good looks.
    • In "Aquatic Characters," when the topic of The Little Mermaid's Ursula and her inspiration comes up, Messi reveals that she draws the line at Drag Queens. Crafty is plainly shocked to hear that even his maid has limits
Messi: Much less fun fact: her appearance is based on the infamous drag queen Divine. Don't... research Divine, kids.
Crafty: Wow, Messi, I'm surprised. You actually have standards.
      Messi: [threateningly] I'll splat you.
Crafty: [panicking] I believe you; moving on!
  • Extreme Omnivore: Messi can comfortably ingest things normally unfit for human consumption. She usually drinks cleaning products, but "Teachers/Mentors," ends with her setting up a toast to Neil of Art Attack with Crafty... with poster paint.
Crafty: And if I'm being honest, if this show hadn't inspired me as it did, I don't think this channel would even exist!
[Messi gives herself and Crafty some solo cups.]
Messi: I think we should raise a glass to Art Attack!
[Messi and Crafty drink from their cups... But Crafty spits his drink back up.]
Crafty: Awww, what was in that?!
[Messi holds up the ingredient in question.]
Messi: Poster paint! I love chugging this stuff.
    [Crafty immediately books it off-screen.]
    Crafty: Nurse! Water, please!!
Messi: Uh-ohhhh.... I'm required by the board of education to state that kids watching this at home shouldn't drink paint, no matter how delicious it may look. More for me!
  • French Maid Outfit: Messi wears the upper half of a maid outfit as her typical day clothes, and it’s fitted in a way to emphasize her breasts. She keeps her legs covered in a long dress made of her own slime, but it also emphasizes the asset that it covers: her huge butt. In "A Well Slimed Machine" Crafty reveals that dressed her in the outfit to help distract himself from his crippling fear of slime creatures—more specifically, the less she resembles Mr. Blobby, the better.
Nurse: Well, in any case, I’d say you almost seem to be getting over your fear of slime creatures. I mean, you keep Messi around, don’t you?
Crafty: Well... Messibelle is different. I couldn’t possibly throw her outside—or very bad things would happen.
[There’s a cut to some footage showing the phone booth death scene from The Blob (1988). The footage returns to Crafty and Nurse.]
Nurse: I’d imagine that sexy outfit you dressed her up in helps, too.
Crafty: It helps that she doesn’t look like... him.
[Blobby himself appears, snarls at the duo, then promptly vanishes. Crafty and Nurse look mortified.]
Nurse: O-OKAY! Maybe we need to take a break and talk about something else?!
    Crafty: YES. PLEEAASE!
  • Foil: Messibelle serves as a distinct counterpart to Pepper, the other cohost introduced in Season 2. Pepper tends to be well-mannered and introverted, while Messi can be crass and is decidedly extroverted. Meanwhile, whereas Pepper is grey-asexual and doesn't act on her romantic feelings, Messi is homosexual and incredibly lecherous (even after she toned things down later on). Yet, despite the adult edge to her character, Messi lacks the concrete life experience that Pepper has. This is because Messi was born only a few days before her debut appearance and has barely ventured beyond the castle, while Pepper was a seasoned nomad before settling down at Crafty's. As a consequence, Messi exhibits some childish tendencies, while Pepper exhibits some motherly tendencies, a contrast that is occasionally highlighted in their interactions.
  • Genki Girl: Messi's very excitable with a bubbly personality. She's extremely eager to be on camera for her first Top Ten Tub episode, "Original Characters," and her energy pervades throughout the episode, especially when the attractive women on the list get her attention. And while her sexual drive that is motivated by her energy is controlled over time, Messi remains just as eager about the show and being around the Crafty Crew in general.
  • Good Bad Girl:
    • Messi has eyes on just about every female character in the cast, and episodes occasionally reveal some of the very lewd activities that she partakes in. Yet the show stresses how, past her big sex drive—which proves to be something of a hindrance for her during Season 2 before she addresses it later—Messi is a kind-hearted soul who lives to be the life of the party. "Disney Characters" demonstrates that she regularly goes to strip clubs after she and Crafty discuss Goofy, briefly going to one before moving onto the next character on the list. Afterward, she remains just as engaged with the episode's content as she was before, offering informative commentary and showing a vested interest in everything Crafty offers in return. She even cries tender tears after Crafty gives a heartfelt speech explaining why Tigger is at the very top of the list.
    • For as flirtatious as Messi is, she will gracefully retract her advances if a woman is taken and is not interested in polyamory, opting to let her target be happy. "Original Characters R3" gives Messi a chance to demonstrate this principle in regards to the third OC on the list.
Crafty: I'm afraid to have to burst your bubble and inform you she's taken...
      Messi: Awww...
      Crafty: ... By a girl.
      Messi: Yay!
      Crafty: You're happy with that?
Messi: Hey, I support all girl-loving girls, not just me.
  • Hates the Job, Loves the Limelight: Messibelle has a mixed outlook on her position as a maid, namely the part where she has to clean things. However, she appreciates the sex appeal that her maid outfit brings, but she enjoys being included in some of the Crafty Crew's antics.
    • Aside from having to clean up after herself constantly due to her slime trails, most of the messes that she addresses are ones that Crafty made and could have avoided. During "It's Only a model," Crafty shoves Messi into a balloon and detonates it to make Nurse angry, in turn demonstrating how expressive she is for a talking point. Messi's Slime ends up all over Nurse, Crafty, and even the top of the screen, and when she reforms, she looks extremely displeased.
Nurse: Each of us on the show have unique expressions to reflect what kind of personalities we have, as well as the mannerisms we use.
Crafty: This is the very core of the fundamentals of having characters feel more alive. Without such, it's just one boring model standing off to the side of the screen while there's audio.
[A graying, lifeless clone of Crafty rises up from the bottom of the screen, disturbing Nurse.]
Crafty: It's lifeless and boring to watch!
      [The clone falls back down.]
Crafty: Lemme tell ya: can that dead character do this?!
[Crafty tosses a slime-filled balloon, which explodes as Nurse yelps. Everyone pauses to behold the resulting mess.]
Nurse: WHY WERE YOU PROVING YOUR POINT WITH THAT?!
Crafty: ‘Cause we get to see your angry expression! As well as me causing chaos!
[Messi reforms from the splattered slime and glares at Crafty.]
Messi: ... I'm getting paid extra for this.
    • In "The Art of the Con(vention)," Messi explains her general outlook on being a Maid to Pepper. The maid outfit is all that she truly enjoys about her position, as it makes her feel most like herself. However, she also admits that she enjoys scrubbing the castle's bathtub now and again because she deeply enjoys the soap bubbles that result from her efforts.
    • As Crafty tirelessly works on a DVD cover idea for "As Seen on DVD," he amasses a huge stack of papers containing scrapped concepts. Midway through Crafty's conversation with Nurse, Messi slowly walks past, grumpily sweeping away at the pile. However, when Crafty later settles on an idea, Messi is delighted by her portrayal in the final DVD cover.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • "Pros and Comms," which takes place soon after her debut in "New Season, New Friends," establishes that Messi has some abandonment issues. Upon witnessing Crafty drawing a picture of himself with Maidbot, she starts sobbing and begging not to be replaced.
    • There are times where Messi demonstrates a deep knowledge and investment in the dynamics of romantic relationships.
      • "Couples" is where Messi first displays her surprising insight on how relationships work, without once lusting after the women depicted on the episode's list. Crafty picks up on Messi's confidence on the subject and praises her, to which Messi reveals that she's started taking counseling courses during her off-time. Right before changing the subject, she accidentally explains that it was Nurse and Crafty's relationship that motivated her to start learning. Then, to prove even further that she knows what she's talking about, she rants about the illegitimacy of Stockholm Syndrome as a concept with some strong, informed arguments backing up her stance.
      • In "Disney Characters," Messi explains her attraction to Jane by citing qualities that she finds hot. None of them regard Jane's body, surprisingly enough, demonstrating a bit of nuance behind Messi's girl craziness.
Crafty: We're opening up today's countdown with one classy cutie-pie!
[An image of Jane drops into view.]
Messi: [with hearts in her eyes] Be still, my gay heart...
[Crafty gives Messi a stern look.]
Messi: ... Whaaat? Jane's really frickin' attractive. She's cute, she's funny, she's got class, and she's really intelligent. Those qualities are hot is all I'm saying.
Crafty: Well, when you're right, you're right!

    I-Y
  • Impossible Hourglass Figure: To embody her concern with sexuality, Messi has a large bust (not the largest on the show, but still large) and an even larger butt, both sandwiching a tiny, tiny waist. Her pose set tends to position her arms in ways that emphasize her assets.
  • Irony: Messi's design and character traits are laced with irony in two respects:
    • The single most common mess that Messi, the Crew's maid, has to clean up is her own slime, which uncontrollably pools at her feet and trails behind her when she moves. Messi laments as much in "Original Characters," when Crafty starts off the episode slipping on her pooling slime.
      Crafty: Hello, hello, hell—ooooOAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
[Crafty slips on something and crashes into a wall offscreen. Messi arrives on the scene a little too late.]
      Messi: Goops! Careful, Doctor!
Crafty: Messibelle! There's slime all over the floor! I thought you'd been cleaning here since Season 1!
Messi: I have! But every time I clean a spot, there's another mess right behind me! It's a never-ending cycle...
    • Messi, the Crew's cleaning lady, is the most openly lewd character on the cast with the dirtiest sense of humor to match. She's prone to dropping Double Entendres and other sexual remarks, habits that never truly leave even after she learns some self-restraint.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Her predicament of being banished to the Shadow Realm with the other co-hosts during "The Foreshadow Game" leads to her wanting a beer to drink.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: Befitting her dirty humor, Messi has quite the potty mouth, with her swearing on the show more than anyone else combined.
    • "Those Wascally Wabbids" features Messibelle almost calling the Great Mighty Poo "a little shit," before cutting herself off.
[The Great Mighty Poo invades Messi's bathroom and sings his signature song.]
Messi: I'm gonna make you take the tide pod challenge you little shi—uh, oh, right, uh, my bad. No swearing here fellas; this is a family-friendly channel. Uhhh... Mostly.
    • Messi's Stockholm Syndrome rant in "Couples" is peppered with F-bombs, each one censored by a honk until she boils over.
  • Leitmotif: Messibelle's theme tune is the Top Ten Tub theme, which changed twice before settling on the third iteration midway through Season 3. The final song is by far the fastest and most energetic of the Crewmates' music. It's lead by a jaunty saxophone and accordion with strong percussion backing them up, fitting Messi's high energy perfectly.
  • Like Father, Like Daughter: Messi slowly transitions away from calling Crafty her "Master," and she soon grows to regularly address him as her father by Season 4. Accordingly, she emulates some of his traits. Like Crafty, she tends to be eccentric, a little crude, immensely Oblivious to Love towards certain people (namely Serena starting with "Crafty Fan Characters"), and prone to cracking cheesy puns — sometimes even more than Crafty himself. Also, it's thanks to these qualities that they both sometimes get on Nurse's nerves.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Messi is transparently a lesbian who, judging by her appearance and how she acts, deeply embraces her femininity. As she states in "Aquatic Characters," Prince Sidon is the one guy Messi would ever contemplate going straight for. She also has no trouble hitting on his sister moments later.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Messi loves sex. She engages in lewd acts even after she tones things down in Season 3, some of which are among the most sexual pastimes that anyone on the Crew partakes in.
    • "Disney Characters" reveals that she regularly visits strip clubs with her lady coworkers from "Crafty Fan Characters," paying for each visit with her weekly allowance.
    • During "Original Characters R3," she offhandedly mentions that she's been selling her bathwater as a side hustle; she knows exactly why this business is so successful.
  • Mad Scientist's Beautiful Daughter: While Crafty is by no means ugly, his surrogate daughter Messibelle is a bombshell. And unlike most examples of this trope, she knows just how beautiful she is and plays it up, both audibly and visually. As many of her appearances demonstrate, she can transition from goofy and energetic to flirty and sultry at the drop of a hat.
  • Married to the Job: Despite her mixed outlook on her job as a maid, Messi is nonetheless dedicated to it, as she's rather attached to the Crafty Crew and has nowhere else to go if she's removed from the team. Thankfully for her, Crafty would rather she stay with them, too.
    • The first time where she feels occupationally threatened is in "Pros and Comms." Upon spotting a commission of Maidbot and Crafty together, Messi immediately jumps to the conclusion that she is about to be replaced.
[Midway through the production of an art piece with Maidbot and Crafty, Messi drops by to watch...]
Messi: Oh! What's up on the drawing agenda todA—
[Messi realizes exactly what she is looking at on-screen, and she starts to cry.]
Messi: D-did I do that bad of a job at cleaning for master that he's already replaced me...? I'm not a bad maid, right?!
[Crafty arrives, not immediately registering that Messi is upset.]
Crafty: Messi! What did I tell you about gooping up the screen?! And what're you doing in here; shouldn't you be cleaning the lab?
Messi: Oh my goops; this is why you replaced me!
[Crafty finally picks up on Messi's distress.]
Messi: I'm not even doing my jooooob....!
Crafty: Replace you? What on earth are you talking about Messi? It's only Season 2.
Messi: *Sniff*.... The drawing.... There's a maid with you...
Crafty: Oh, Messi, dear. I suppose I should bring it to people's attention that commissions I do are non-canon. So you're the only maid, Messi. You don't need to worry.
Messi: Ahhh.... That's a relief. But I'll get back to cleaning, then. I... don't want you to end up actually replacing me.
    • Maidbot appears again in "Crafty Fan Characters," prompting another tearful outburst from Messi. This time, Crafty's reassurance is much more directly positive; by this point, Messi has had time to prove herself and develop her friendship with him. She's so elated that she's not being let go that she accidentally reveals her interest in seeing Crafty as a father figure, which slowly starts affecting how the two Crewmates see each other going forward.
[Next up on the top ten list is Maidbot, and Messi grows worried.]
Messi: Waaait a sec... Crafty! You told me I was the only maid on this show! You're not... finally replacing me, are you?
[Messi bursts into tears as Crafty internally panics.]
Messi: I knew it! I knew I was the least liked girl on this show!!
Crafty: What? No no no, of course not Messi! You're irreplaceable!
      Messi: *Sniff*... Really...?
Crafty: Of course you are, silly.
      Messi: Yay! Thank you, daddy!
[At this, the two hosts stand in lengthy, awkward silence. Someone in the audience coughs.]
Crafty: Want to forget the last five seconds and move on?
      Messi: I'd appreciate that...
  • Meaningful Name: "Messibelle Deluge-Latrine" is deeply linked with Messi's overall character. "Messibelle" hints at Messi’s responsibilities as a maid, her lecherousness, her occasionally dirty humor, and her own messiness thanks to her constant slime trails. Meanwhile, a "Deluge" is a severe flood, while a "Latrine" is a toilet. Together, "Deluge-Latrine" calls attention to a maid’s responsibility of cleaning toilets. Additionally, both words are partially French in origin, coinciding with Messi's French Maid Outfit.
  • Ms. Fanservice:
    • While all the cohosts show some fanservice now and then, Messibelle knowingly struts her stuff constantly. She has an hourglass figure adorned with a French Maid Outfit that highlights her breasts and exposes her large rear (though she does cover it with a slime gown, the gown is transparent). Her pose set makes a point to emphasize her looks, with many of them giving her sultry expressions and all of them making sure that at least one of her assets is in full view. Messi even has a set of unique poses wherein she presses up face-first against the screen, prominently showing off her boobs as she smiles gleefully or flirtatiously at the audience.
    • Thanks to its subject matter, Beach Month allows Messi to discuss the topic of sexiness a bit more freely and indulge in it more than usual.
      • In "The Beachles," she, Pepper, and Nurse have a discussion about body image issues and women in swimwear. Pepper feels apprehensive about donning swimwear out in public. Messi, someone confident in her own looks and eager to see Pepper wearing the dinky, pink bikini top, remarks that she has no such restriction, hinting at Pepper to play along and show some skin. She also wordlessly sides with Nurse when she tries easing Pepper's tension more explicitly.
Pepper: I-I never was a fan of crowded places like these...
Nurse: Well, I hope you two will appreciate the fresh air during this day-trip of ours. Now that the last batch of episodes is over, the Doctor is finally giving us an opportunity for some much-needed RnR! Especially you, Pepper.
Pepper: But I don't like being in such populated areas! Especially when I'm wearing something as... revealing as this...
[Pepper pulls out a vastly undersized bikini top. Messi Wolf Whistles at the idea of Pepper wearing it.]
Nurse: Why? It's just a swimming top.
Pepper: P.... people stare... at me...
Messi: I love it when the public stares at me~.
[Neither Pepper nor Nurse is sure about how to react.]
Pepper: I-it just makes me feel more nervous than usual, is all.
Nurse: Well! Ahem, people stare at me all the time, too. Strangers will stare regardless! I think a good lesson here would be that you can't control other people's behavior; you can only control your reaction to it.
[Messi silently reacts to all of Nurse's words, showing arousal, agreement, and reassurance in all of a few seconds.]
Pepper: That is true... I guess.
        [Messi beams at Pepper.]
      • Out of everyone's swimwear introduced in Beach Month, Messi's is the skimpiest by far. It's an extremely tight plunge bikini, only just large enough to cover her nipples and genitalia and visibly stretched taut against her breasts and crotch. And while it's never seen from the back, it clearly leaves her butt just as visible as it is normally, if not more so thanks to her ditching the slime dress. Even Messi herself grows aroused when she sees Crafty drawing her in the outfit during "The Beachles."
    • Because of the sex appeal that Messi exudes, Crystelle has grown apprehensive about answering questions about Messi on the Questionable Qloset, as they could be coming from perverted fans. When Messi's card appears in "ADnDiction," Crystelle braces for the worst... but she's pleasantly flummoxed to find an innocent question about Messi's chemistry.
Crystelle: Now, for our second card for tonight...
[Crystelle draws Messi's card, the High Priestess.]
Crystelle: Ooohhhh... All right, ehm... I'll prep the censors for this one.
The Question: Has Messibelle had any unusual reactions to other chemicals? Not necessarily getting sick but other... weird side effects?
Crystelle: Oh...! Ohhh...! Y-you have an... actual question..... That's the most surprising thing about this poll.
  • Naked First Impression: According to Crafty in "New Season, New Friends," Messi was completely nude when she erupted from the pipes. Apparently, she was perfectly comfortable with staying nude until Crafty opted to dress her in her signature maid outfit—which itself leaves little to the imagination.
Crafty: Oh yeah, she’s very excitable.
  • Neat Freak: Season 4 sees Messi growing more neurotic about cleanliness at times.
    • In "Late for Crafty School," Stylene presents a prison bus for the Crew to use for their trip during High School Month. It's not been maintained for some time, and Messi gives a fairly lengthy description of just how dirty it is:
Pepper: Oh, what a moldy mess! I suddenly feel like a fugitive...
Messi: You're telling me! This old coach looks like something you'd find in a hoarder's garage. In a cottage country. That was left abandoned for several years.
    • Upon entering Crafty and Nurse's old high school in "School Days of Yesterpast," Messi notices how dusty the halls have become, suddenly feeling an urge to mop it all away. Crystelle thinks this is a good idea, as doing so would simultaneously cover the Crew's tracks during their time there.
    • The "Time Warp" song in "Crafty Horror Picture Show" is briefly interrupted by Disgustilda showing up. She's immediately teleported away by Crystelle, and Messi scrambles to mop up the area where Disgustilda once stood, knowing how filthy she is.
  • Nice Girl: Messi is the most sociable of the Crafty Crew, always eager to meet new people and shed some kindness onto them.
    • She spends most of "Crafty Idol" sincerely praising the Fan Character participants' outfits—except for Vinessa, who she praises for her hair.
    • Despite being hopelessly oblivious of Serena's crush on her, Messibelle always treats her kindly. In "Couples," Serena makes some unsubtle passes towards Messi about joining her during her typical Valentines' Day routine. Messi completely misses out on the obvious romantic cues, but she’s quite elated to have some platonic company for the occasion (at least, it's platonic from her perspective).
  • Oblivious to Love: For someone who actively pursues romantic companionship, Messi can be very ignorant when she's being chased—particularly by Serena starting with "Crafty Fan Characters." There, Serena develops — and can barely contain — an attraction towards Messi. Despite Serena's unsubtle flirting, Messi is utterly none the wiser and just regards her new coworker as a new friend. Crafty can't believe what he is seeing, but he decides to move on rather than try and explain to Messi what just happened.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • In "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," the normally excitable and perky Messibelle becomes calm and sullen, having spent nearly four months ruminating over "The Foreshadow Game's" events. Everything from Bakura's attack to the complicated love triangle between Crafty, Nurse, and Sasha has been weighing on Messi's mind. When Crafty and Nurse go off somewhere as the episode art footage still plays, Pepper and Messi drop by to fill in for their absence, whereupon Messi reveals her concerns.
[Pepper and Messi appear on-screen. Messi, still feeling troubled, faces away from Pepper.]
Pepper: Oh! I guess we get a chance to talk on the Season Premiere again. That's nice of them to let us on! Though, I don't know where they went off to. It's not like them to leave in the middle of a show like this.
Messi: Hm. Doesn't really surprise me... that much, to be honest.
Pepper: Messi... What do you mean? You seem... different today. Did you by chance get the Suds recently?
[A picture of SpongeBob with the Suds appears onscreen, and an annoyed Messi finally turns to face her coworker, pushing the image offscreen.]
Messi: Pepper, I'm worried! Things haven't really been the same since we got back. I'm usually the one to be energetic and excitable, but... things are... different.
Pepper: I don't really want to address it, but... I suppose you are right. Um, sh-should I make them something like a cake to cheer them up...?
Messi: I think... they just need time to themselves to figure this out. If it was overwhelming for us to see everything that happened, I couldn't imagine what they're going through right now.
Pepper: I just hope they're going to be okay.
      Messi: You and me both...
    • Throughout the beginning of the Spin-Off Special, Messi is surprisingly hostile towards her coworkers. Later, it turns out that it isn't just the stress of being imprisoned again getting to her. After covering All Might for her Top Ten Tub segment's final entry, she breaks down and admits that she misses Crafty, who she's finally accepted as her adoptive father by this point.
  • Perverted Drooling: Messi is already constantly dripping slime, but when she sees something arousing, her dripping saliva only adds to the mess. Quite a few of her poses involve her blushing and drooling at something with a wide variety of expressions.
  • Polyamory: In both of her encounters with Cascade and her girlfriend in "Original Characters" and "This is Crack(ship)," Messi establishes that she is all for a polyamorous relationship if it means finding more women to love.
    Messi: I’m comfortable with sharing!
  • Porn Names: Apparently, Messi does porn on the side, and her nickname in the profession is "Sloppy Suzy." Scout derisively addresses Messi as such in "Crafty Fan Characters," without realizing that Messi already uses that very alias.
  • Precision F-Strike: "Those Wascally Wabbids" features Messibelle calling the Great Mighty Poo "a little shit," only to immediately apologize for swearing since this is (mostly) a family-friendly show.
  • Protagonist Without a Past: Messibelle is the only Crafty Crewmate without a background prior to joining Dr. Crafty. Her life starts with Crafty just before Season 2's "New Season, New Friends," and from then on, compared to everyone else, a much greater proportion of her life is shown on-screen.
  • Pungeon Master: Messi's pun game rivals Crafty's own, with her being able to come up with a few on the spot. She ends up doing just that during "Smash Newcomers," in which she rattles off several puns revolving around Shovel Knight, causing a nearby pun machine to overload.
Messi: So, sharpen thy shovels, cuz this little knight has power in spades! I can really dig his inclusion in the roster! And it'd break new ground for indie game representation, too! He'll really soil the competition!
    [An air raid siren sounds.]
Crafty: Oh no! Pun overload! AHHHH!!
    [The bathroom straight up explodes!]
  • Rubber Woman: Messi's slimy body is quite malleable, allowing her to stretch and distort into any position she wants. The first time she demonstrates this ability is in "I Need a Hero Academia," where, she manages to restrain Mindstein in the Castle's top floor from all the way down in the dungeon, all thanks to some exposed piping in the room that Messi is in. She strongly holds Mindstein steady, allowing Crafty to deliver the finishing blow.
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • When it becomes apparent to her that Nurse has a crush on Crafty in "The Beachles," Messi tries pushing her to admit her feelings and becomes visibly disappointed when Nurse refuses. Messi's interest in her coworkers' potential relationship, combined with being calmly reprimanded by Nurse over her lechery in "Dumb Dingies," eventually culminates in Messi taking couples counseling courses sometime before she reveals doing so in "Couples." It's implied by how she carries herself throughout the rest of Season 3 that the classes are improving her own outlook on love and sexuality.
    • Despite how eager she is for Crafty and Nurse to pair up, she knows better than to force the relationship to happen, especially if there are signs of it not working out. After the Crew learns of Sasha's old relationship with Crafty in "The Foreshadow Game"—a relationship that Crafty still wants—Messi spends time between Seasons 2 and 3 contemplating whether Nurse's ongoing pursuits for Crafty's love are worth it. She presses Nurse about it in "Crafty Hearts Re:Grouped," worried that she's going to set herself up for heartbreak if she continues pining for Crafty.
[As Nurse slowly makes her way towards Crafty’s bedroom, she passes by an annoyed Messibelle, who suddenly speaks up. Messi’s uncharacteristically quiet.]
Messi: You can’t keep doing this, Nurse.
Nurse: As a Nurse, I need to ensure Crafty’s in good health.
Messi: That’s not what I’m talking about, and you know it.
      Nurse: I... I-I don’t know what you’re referring to.
Messi: Come off it, already! Almost everyone here except the Doc knows that you have feelings for him. And now you find out he’s got some girlfriend that none of us ever knew about! And yet, look at you; you’ve been checking up on him every day, knowing full well that he has feelings for someone else! Doesn’t it... hurt you? Don’t you, out of all of us, feel lied and betrayed to?
[Nurse’s gaze shifts away from Messi’s.]
Messi: Shouldn’t you have given up on chasing him? If you keep doing this to yourself, it’s only gonna end in misery for you. You know that... don’t you?
Nurse: Of course I do. But... What kind of friend would I be if I just... abandoned him? Right?
[Without another word, Nurse continues on. Messi doesn’t do anything but look on in sadness.]
    • Notably, the situation of Crafty and Nurse's relationship places Messibelle in an odd spot: she and Nurse know of Nurse's crush, as does everyone else, but Crafty, somehow, does not. Thus, Messi only feels comfortable discussing the matter with Nurse. In "Couples," she almost gives away the intentions behind her taking couples counseling courses to Crafty—that she's doing it to help him and Nurse become an item—before hurriedly changing the subject.
  • Signing-Off Catchphrase: While not present in every Top Ten Tub episode, Messibelle frequently bids the viewers farewell with, "Until next time, goo-bye!"
  • Slime Girl: Sometime before "New Season, New Friends," Crafty dumped tons of cleaning chemicals down his drain. The result is Messibelle, a sentient mixture of all those chemicals, and she serves as the castle's cleaning lady with more than a few messes to clean up (many of which come from the self-sustaining puddle of slime at her feet). In response to a question that she receives, Crystelle speculates over Messi's chemical composition in "ADnDiction.
Crystelle: Being a collective amalgamation of bathroom chemicals, she's already a highly unstable mixture, which could lend to credence for her... odd behavior. So, introducing other matters to the mix has all sorts of wild effects. Paint can temporarily change her color, as demonstrated in the Top Ten Yu-Gi-Oh Card episodes. We... haven't tried exposing her to fire, nor do we plan to! Because, as it turns out, we're all allergic to explosions. So, needless to say, Messibelle is indeed the wild card in our party.
  • Stupid Sexy Flanders: In "Aquatic Characters," Messi admits that she has quite a crush on Prince Sidon. It isn’t a passing fancy, either; when he makes an in-person appearance, she's so aroused by him that her ovaries rupture.
  • True Blue Femininity:
    • Messi is primarily a neon blue, which helps emphasize her femininity and comfortability with her sexuality. She willingly provides Fanservice the most out of the Crafty Crew. According to Sidon in "Aquatic Characters," this mindset has helped Messi develop a prominent reputation for her good looks.
    • Messi's blue coloring hints that she is lonelier than she lets on; she flirts with and ogles just about every woman she comes across, especially during Season 2, but she never seems to land a long-term date. As "Couples" reveals, she's consequentially desperate for love and has developed a Valentine's Day routine in which she stress-eats to distract herself from those feelings. The same episode also highlights how utterly oblivious Messi is to Serena's advances. Serena appears in a whole wedding gown and even offers to join Messi in her Valentine's routine with blatant romantic intent. But Messi misses out on both hints, implying that her loneliness is obliviously self-inflicted.
  • Verbal Tic: She usually says "goo" in place of "good" or "god." "Original Characters" shows that she also uses "goo" as a cry of indignation.
  • Visual Pun: Messibelle, a woman made of cleaning products like soap, has a bubble butt.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds:
    • Messi tends to get along with Pepper pretty well, seeing her as someone to turn to if something serious is troubling her on many occasions. Even so, they sometimes comically bicker.
      • In both "The Art of the Con(vention)" and "Going Poster," Messi decides to mess with Pepper a bit by leaving most of the cleaning that they're tasked with to her, and in the latter episode, she tries passing off her inaction as being "there for moral support." However, in the former episode, she reveals her fascination with bubbles to Pepper, something that Pepper follows up on in the Spin-Off Special to cheer Messi up.
      • Later, they also bungle the introduction of The Question during the Spin-Off Special's Top Ten Tub segment. Later, the segment ends with Pepper offering herself up to Messi so she can cry into her lap about how much she misses Crafty.
Messi: Starting us off at Number Ten: The Question!
        Pepper: What's the question?
        Messi: Not what. 'Who.'
        Pepper: Who's the question?
Messi: No, I was asking about The Question.
Pepper: That's what I asked! What's the question?
Messi: I already said it's who, not what!
Pepper: And I already asked, who's the question?!'
        Messi: THE QUESTION!!
        Pepper: Y-yes! What is it?!
[Crystelle teleports Pepper away and takes her place.]
Crystelle: Uh... Maybe I should cover this one, being the queen of questions, after all.
    • Messi's relationship with Nurse is somewhat shakey. While they tend to see eye to eye on things, Nurse tends to be annoyed by Messi for her blue humor or general energy.
      • In "The Beachles," Messi and Nurse both agree that Pepper deserves to be comfortable with herself on the beach and try to encourage her to unwind. But later on, Nurse slams Messi aside when she snickers about Pepper saying that Crafty seems to be feeling "on edge."
      • In "As Seen on DVD," Messi comments on how she enjoys being tied up in the DVD cover that Crafty made. Nurse just slaps Messi without hesitation, not letting the obvious sexual reference slip by unnoticed.
  • Younger Than They Look: Messi was born sometime between Seasons 1 and 2, and she came out of the castle pipes looking exactly as she does now. By the time of "I Need a Hero Academia," she's only one year old; Screw's data about the Crew on her tablet reveals as much.
