Desire Grand Prix

Riders Introduced in the "Requiem" Arc

    Luz Noceda/Kamen Rider Lechuz
See her page for more details.
    Amity Blight/Kamen Rider Gato
See her section under Other Universes for more details.
    Anne Boonchuy/Kamen Rider Qrok

Anne Boonchuy/Kamen Rider Qrok

An alternate version of Anne who never went to Amphibia, becoming a Kamen Rider through the Desire Grand Prix instead.
    Sasha Waybright/Kamen Rider Soaron

Sasha Waybright/Kamen Rider Soaron

An alternate version of Sasha who never went to Amphibia, becoming a Kamen Rider through the Desire Grand Prix instead.
  • Adaptational Wimp: This version of Sasha lacks her Calamity powers.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Sasha is much more hostile in this fic, and only gets worse after Anne’s death.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Kamen Rider Soaron is themed after a heron.
  • Battle Couple: She eventually becomes this with Marcy.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Sasha is determined to win the DGP, even if it means sabotaging other Riders to do it.
  • Composite Character: As the fic goes on, Sasha gradually takes on traits shared by Michinaga/Kamen Rider Buffa. Not only does she resort to backstabbing other Riders to advance in the DGP, once Anne is killed by the Final Boss Jyamato, she blames Luz for not using her Oscura Buckle to defeat it until after the grief from Anne's death gave Luz the motivation to finally use it, similarly to how Michinaga blames Ace for not being able to save Tohru. In addition, much like how Michinaga used the Zombie Buckle in the DGP to honor Tohru, Sasha starts using the Monster Buckle (which was what Anne used prior to her death) starting from the "Reprise" arc. Chapter 11 reveals that her dad is connected to the DGP, something Neon/Kamen Rider Na-Go also had to deal with.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Sasha's plan to steal Luz and Amity's Raise Buckles with Anne's help falls apart before she can even implement it because doing so during a round is against the rules. If it wasn't for Tsumuri and Marcy telling Sasha that said rule was always there, Anne and Sasha would have been automatically disqualified.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Sasha may have teamed up with Boscha as a way to get revenge on Luz, but as soon as she learns of Boscha's attempted rape of Amity, she immediately apologizes for helping Boscha get that far in the first place. Afterwards, Sasha and Boscha's alliance is much more tense.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Despite being unaware of the true circumstances behind Anne's death (in this new world, she was supposedly killed by a drunk driver), Sasha seems to be doing a decent job adjusting to life after the DGP. While not completely over her grief, she vows to ask out Marcy when she moves to California as a way to make up for never confessing her love to Anne when she was still alive. Unfortunately, once Tsumuri hands Sasha back her ID Core, she remembers how Anne actually died and vows to win the next season of the DGP to bring Anne back to life. After the Slasher Game, however, Sasha started to have doubts about her goal, not helped by Boscha's manipulation. She does eventually decide she can trust Luz and Marcy if they win... only for Boscha to drug her with a potion that brainwashes her.
  • Heel Realization: Thankfully, Sasha breaks free of Boscha’s mind control potion and after beating the three-eyed witch within an inch of her life in her new Phoenix mode, sits down with Luz after the round concludes. She talks to Luz about how she’s come to realize what a horrible person she was and not just for blaming Luz for Anne’s death. Suffice to say this buries the hatchet between her and Luz. She’s still not gonna hold back should they wind up the final two but it’s no longer out of malice.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: The Rising Phoenix Buckle lets Soaron access her Final Form, which gives her similar abilities to her counterpart in Heroes From Another World, mainly the fire abilities and a phoenix motif.
  • Instrumental Weapon: Kamen Rider Soaron’s signature Raise Buckle is the Beat Buckle. Until the “Reprise” arc, where she starts using a different Buckle.
  • Power Fist: Kamen Rider Soaron primarily uses the Monster Buckle starting from the "Reprise" arc.
    Marcy Wu/Kamen Rider Newtonne

Marcy Wu/Kamen Rider Newtonne

An alternate version of Marcy who never went to Amphibia, becoming a Kamen Rider through the Desire Grand Prix instead.
  • Adaptational Wimp: This version of Marcy lacks her Calamity powers.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Kamen Rider Newtonne is themed after a newt.
  • Battle Couple: She eventually becomes this with Sasha.
  • The Gunslinger: Kamen Rider Newtonne's signature Raise Buckle is the Magnum Buckle starting from the "Reprise" arc.
  • Ninja: Kamen Rider Newtonne’s signature Raise Buckle is the Ninja Buckle during the "Requiem" arc.
  • Only Sane Woman: Compared to Anne and Sasha, Marcy has a more sensible approach to the DGP, and is willing to stand up to Sasha for her and Anne's sake.
    Marco Diaz/Kamen Rider Kata

Marco Diaz/Kamen Rider Kata

An alternate version of Marco who joins the Desire Grand Prix as a Kamen Rider.
    Molly McGee/Kamen Rider Joy

Molly McGee/Kamen Rider Joy

An alternate version of Molly who joins the Desire Grand Prix as a Kamen Rider.
  • Adaptational Badass: This version of Molly becomes a Kamen Rider.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It’s unclear if this version of Molly ever met Scratch or had any other supernatural encounters.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Kamen Rider Joy is themed after a rabbit.
  • Break the Cutie: Penn’s death had a huge impact on Molly, as the two were starting to become close friends.
  • The Bus Came Back: She returns during the "Reality" Arc, albeit as a civilian with no memory of the Desire Grand Prix.
  • Deadly Rotary Fan: Kamen Rider Joy’s signature Raise Buckle is the Propeller Buckle.
    Penn Zero/Kamen Rider Tai-Ger

Penn Zero/Kamen Rider Tai-Ger

An alternate version of Penn who joins the Desire Grand Prix as a Kamen Rider.
    Sebastian Krabbs/Kamen Rider Clamp

An aspiring musician who happens to resemble a certain singing crab.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Kamen Rider Clamp is themed after a crab.
  • Expy: Sebastian is one of Sebastian the Crab.
  • Go Out with a Smile: Compared to the last two contestants, Sebastian is surprisingly calm when he’s eliminated.
Sebastian: (sighs) Guess this is it for me, man. It was fun while it lasted.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Sebastian gets little to no focus before he’s eliminated in the second round.
    Peter Prospects/Kamen Rider Smog

Riders Introduced in the "Reality" Arc

    Masha DeLisle/Kamen Rider Kurma

Masha DeLisle/Kamen Rider Kurma

An alternate version of Masha who joins the Desire Grand Prix as a Kamen Rider.
  • Adaptational Badass: This version of Masha becomes a Kamen Rider.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Kamen Rider Kurma is themed after a fox.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Masha is pretty easygoing, but when they confront Jacob, they don't hesitate to use the illusion powers of the Fantasy Buckle to emotionally torment Jacob and plans to murder him themself. Thankfully, Luz is able to stop them.
  • The Danza: Masha's shares the same name as their voice actress, Grey DeLisle.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Masha was able to kill Boscha with no powers when they got tangled up in the Desire Grand Prix, and becoming a Kamen Rider makes them even stronger.
  • Graceful Loser: While still upset Luz won the round by killing Jacob herself, Masha is pretty chill about being voted off. They even plan to ask Vee out on a date afterwards.
  • Instrumental Weapon: Kamen Rider Kurma's signature Raise Buckle is the Beat Buckle.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Masha only makes it through three rounds, and one of them didn't even involve fighting.

Other Riders

     Manny Noceda/Kamen Rider Valiente
An alternate version of Luz's late father, who became a contestant in the Desire Grand Prix to wish away his cancer.
  • The Ace: Manny was an amazing Rider, and was even held in high regard by Tsumuri.
  • Adaptational Explanation: Manny's cause of death was never specified in canon, only that the Nocedas needed to move to Gravesfield so the hospital there could treat it. Here, it is said to have been cancer.
  • Adaptational Badass: Prior to his death, Manny was stated to have been a normal civilian. Here, he was a Kamen Rider, and a skilled one at that.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: Kamen Rider Valiente is themed after a honey badger.
  • Generation Xerox: Just like Luz, he was a contestant in the DGP whose signature Raise Buckle was the Magnum Buckle.
  • Posthumous Character: Like in canon, Manny died prior to the events of the story.
     Jacob Hopkins/Kamen Rider Jack-S

Jacob Hopkins/Kamen Rider Jack-S

A alternate version of Jacob Hopkins. No longer a museum curator for the Gravesfield Historical Society, he was sentenced to prison for stalking and attempted murder of a child. He’s also a former competitor in the Desire Grand Prix under the name Kamen Rider Jack-S (No, seriously).
  • Adaptational Superpower Change: In The Mystery Twins Investigate: A Kamen Rider Story, Jacob gets a Gaia Memory and becomes a Dopant, but this version of Jacob becomes a Kamen Rider.
  • All the Other Reindeer: Not even the other inmates in prison like him due to why he got arrested and his crackpot conspiracy theories.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It isn't made clear if the child he almost killed was actually supernatural in nature. It's later revealed that the child in question was Vee, and Luz fought back.
  • Animal Motifs: Donkeys to highlight how much of a literal jackass he is. So much So that his rider name is literally just two letters off from that very word.
  • Asshole Victim: Jacob had already gotten his ass kicked by Luz years before she joined the DGP, and when it came to killing him, the discussion between Luz and Masha wasn't if they should kill him, but who should kill him.
  • Atrocious Alias: Once again, we need to clarify that his name is Kamen Rider Jack-S.
Jacob/Kamen Rider Jack-S: I am the Hero of Justice who will protect humanity from the monsters that hide among us! And my name is Kamen Rider Jack-S!
Sasha/Kamen Rider Soaron: Yeah, you definitely are.
  • Hated by All: Just like his other incarnations, absolutely nobody can stand Jacob. Even Tsumuri, who usually sounds upbeat while recruiting contestants for the DGP, isn't happy to bring Jacob in.
  • Obliviously Evil: Jacob sees himself as a hero saving humanity from witches and demons, and becoming a Kamen Rider did nothing to change his views. Even though he was sent to prison for attempting to kill Vee and Amity, the first chance he got, he tried to transform in order to try killing them again, and when he remembered the events, he still fails see what he did as wrong.
  • Recruiting the Criminal: A rather literal example, as both times he was recruited for the DGP, he was still in prison.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Jacob is pretty incompetent, but what makes him a threat to the other Riders is the fact that he has access to the Boost and Feverslot Buckles during a round where everyone else is only allowed to use a single Raise Buckle.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Jacob was only present for a single round of the DGP, and not even as an official participant like the other Riders.

Staff

    The Game Master (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

Mr. Butler/The Game Master/Kamen Rider Glare

The concierge of the Desire Temple who is secretly person who oversees each round of the DGP, albeit with an interest in certain contestants like Luz and Sasha.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He appears to be a Reasonable Authority Figure who accepts Luz's request to fight Sasha one-on-one on the condition that the two are the last contestants that round, but the Reality Arc reveals that he's just as sadistic as Girori and Chirami.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: While he does care about keeping the game fair, if he sees something that will boost ratings, he will choose to do nothing until he needs to tie up any loose ends, like dealing with Boscha himself after her scheme to kill Luz using a brainwashed Sasha was foiled.
  • Composite Character: This version of the Game Master takes on several traits from Girori and Chirami. Like Girori, he masquerades as a simple concierge who gradually forms a grudge against Luz for questioning the point of the DGP, and like Chirami, he cares more about getting good ratings and providing quality entertainment for the audience. Like both of them, this Game Master is willing to bend the rules if it means getting what he wants.
  • Didn't See That Coming: He was surprised that Luz managed to figure out that the DGP is actually a reality show, something no other contestant has ever been able to do.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": He is always referred to by either of his titles, Mr. Butler or the Game Master.
  • Supreme Chef: One of the positives of living in the Desire Temple during the "Reality" Arc is getting to enjoy his cooking.
  • Walking Spoiler: The reveal of his true identity factors into his true colors as a person.
    Tsumuri

Tsumuri

The Navigator of the DGP who tries to stay as neutral as she can.
  • Big Brother Is Watching: The DGP keeps watch over its contestants to make sure they don't violate any rules outside of the game, with Tsumuri somehow managing to teleport into Amity and Sasha's respective rooms to remind them of the rules they are close to violating.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Tsumuri usually recruits contestants for the DGP in a cheerful tone, but when she has to recruit Jacob, she's far less enthaustic, and isn't willing to tolerate his conspiracy theories.
  • Mission Control: Tsumuri plays this role as the Navigator.
  • Lawful Neutral: Tsumuri doesn’t care for conflicts between Riders. She is there to enforce the rules without taking sides.

Sponsors and Supporters (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

    Ted Waybright

Ted Waybright

Sasha's father, and a sponsor of the DGP.
    Lumina Clawthorne/Kamen Rider Lumina

Lumina Clawthorne

The long time descendant of Luz Clawthorne, Eda and Raine’s daughter, who is interested in seeing Luz become Kamen Rider Oscura again.
  • Amicable Exes: With Amara. Subverted when they get back together.
  • Kid from the Future: While technically not related to Luz, Lumina is still happy to meet her Honorary Aunt.
  • Ominous Owl: The Support Mode function on her Laser Raise Riser allows Kamen Rider Lumina to transform into a form resembling a mechanical version of the Owl Beast.
  • The Reveal: When Luz finally has her meeting with this woman, it becomes one bombshell after another. Let’s count them down: She is a witch. A Boiling Isles witch at that. She wants Kamen Rider Oscura to ride again as a true hero. She is from the far future. And her name is Lumina. Lumina Clawthorne, Luz’ great-great-great-great grandniece.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Just like her ancestor, Amara enjoys drinking apple blood.
  • Walking Spoiler: It is just not possible to discuss her without going over who she is and what her role in the story is.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Lumina is determined to help Luz become a hero by essentially forcing her to confront her inner darkness, and is willing to destroy her ID core if she slips back into evil again.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: Lumina's Rider form gives her the power of having good luck.
     Amara Blight

Amara Blight

Amity’s long great grandniece from the future. Just like Lumina, Amara is a family member of Amity’s come back in time to sponsor her in the Desire Grand Prix. Her great grandmother is Emira and she’s next in line to run Blight Industries, but she's not interested in that.
     King Andrias Leviathan

King Andrias Leviathan

The King of Amphibia who has an interest in supporting Marcy, Sasha, and Anne.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Whether Andrias has the ability to transform into Kamen Rider Leviathan like Oliver can has yet to be explained.
  • Ambiguously Evil: It isn't made clear if this version of Andrias has the same goals as his canon counterpart, much less the version seen in Heroes From Another World.
  • Canon Character All Along: While it was ambiguous at first, the identity of Marcy's supporter was eventually confirmed to be Andrias.
  • The Ghost: Marcy doesn't meet him at first, instead talking with one of his subjects, Oliver.
  • Walking Spoiler: This character reveals that this version of Marcy actually went to Amphibia prior to her time in the DGP.
     Oliver/Kamen Rider Leviathan
An aide to King Andrias who acts as his proxy in communicating with Marcy and Sasha.

  • Large Ham: Oliver becomes a lot more bombastic after transforming into Leviathan.
