Deathbuldge

    In General

  • Character Class System: This band can use certain classes, each one with their own perks.
    • Show-off Dazzles the audience with flashy riffs, pushing what's possible at risk of flopping on stage.
    • Well-Toned use heavy beats that fortify the band's position, providing some musical resiliance.
    • Tuner keeps the band, and their sound, nice and healthy through careful tuning.
    • Goth, to them Nothing really matters, not even measure effects. They take advantage of clearing and applying negative effects to their own bar.
    • Busker raises the band's spirits by providing a plethora of positive measure effects.
    • Headbanger shows reckless disregard for authority and themselves, dishing out massive damage but getting hit in the process.
    • Avant-Garde pushes the boundaries of what music is, exploring new horizons by using random and unique effects.
    • Distorter can make enemies' ears hurt by applying negative effects to their bar.
    • Sampler takes old samples and make them new, combine your beats to take multiple actions per turn
  • Damager, Healer, Tank: Faye is on offense, Ian defense, and Briff healing.
  • The Power of Rock: they often use this due to the curse
  • Sibling Team: Faye is Ian's adopted sister, and they're the first two characters you get for the first dungeon. Briff is not related to either of them.

    Faye

Faye

Faye is the leader of the band and a skilled guitarist.
  • Attention Whore: Faye is skilled and she knows it, all too well apparently, as she prides herself on her skill.
  • Delinquent Hair: No matter what class she’s in (except Busker and Avant-Guarde), her hairstyle reflects her personality, which is wild.
  • Doorstop Baby: Iris offhandedly remarks that she found Faye in a garbage bin.
  • Fangirl: Of Glamourella. She gushes quite a bit when she meets her spirit aboard the train to Hoho.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She may have a temper, she may be brash, but she cares about her band and others.
  • Only Sane Man: Between the wacky Ian and the space-casey Briff, Faye comes across as the straight man. She's also the one most likely to comment on the sheer weirdness of the world the game takes place in.
  • Prehensile Hair: Apparently Faye's hair isn’t just for show, as she can also play her guitar with it.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Tomboyish as she may appear at first sight, she still has bright pink hair and wears a skirt and sleeveless top in her standard outfit. She's also perfectly good friends with the much more overtly girly Platinum.

    Ian

Ian

Ian is a skeleton with a love for fish.

    Briff

Briff

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/briff_tune_neutral.png
Briff is the drummer of the band who has problems with his family.
  • Combat Medic: He’s a healer, and he knows how to fight.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Not usually, but when he's mad at the band for lying to him about the true nature of the tournament, he gets pretty sullen and snarky. Best shown when Faye tricks Headbanger.
Briff: "We love lying to drummers, huh?"
  • Gasshole: Was one as a kid, if his old babysitter taking one look at him and going "Ah yes. The Farting Child" is anything to go by.
  • The Heart: The guy is the most sensitive of the bunch.
  • Heavy Sleeper: He spends almost the entire tutorial and first quest asleep.

Platinum Scrumptious

    In General
  • Action Duo: There's only two members of the band.
  • Friendly Rival: They have this relationship with Deathbulge, which is part of why the idea of fighting them hits Platinum so hard.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: They both have feminine designs, but Platinum is dressed in bright, cool colors while Scrumptious wears a dark suit and much darker makeup and generally looks more dour than they actually are.

     Platinum
Faye's good friend and friendly rival.

     Scrumptious
Platinum's bandmate.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Scrumptious seems to behave in a slightly more masculine manner than Platinum, but their gender is never made clear.
  • Monster Clown: Gives this vibe with their design, but is actually perfectly friendly.
  • Shaking the Rump: Constantly.

K-Kwak and Recently Hatched

     In General
A boastful duck rapper and his faithful, triangular penguin hypeman.
  • Pocket Protector: In a particularly shocking turn of events, Recently Hatched ends up becoming this for K-Kwak when he takes several blasts from Maelstro for him while hiding in his jacket.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: K-Kwak, while still a famous music star, is not nearly as big a deal or as powerful as he thinks he is.
  • Starter Villain: They're the first antagonist musicians you end up facing in the main story.

Pokalyps

     In General
A highly popular metal band made up entirely of horse-demons.
  • All Part of the Show: They take this approach to Deathbulge hijacking their concert in order to not lose the crowd. It ends badly for them.
  • Blob Monster. Pesto.
  • Death Metal: This is their aesthetic. It helps that they are actual demons.
  • Dem Bones: Deadbones is a skeletal horse.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: A large portion of the game is spent trying to get to them so you can defeat them and get out of the tournament. Once you succeed, Maelstro shows up.
  • Horsemen of the Apocalypse: They are based on this. The lead singer Malnura is Famine, Deadbone the guiarist is Death, Pesto, or "the oozy one" as Scrumptious calls him, is Pestilence, and the hulking, constantly angry drummer Klöpp is War.
  • Sinister Scythe: Deadbones uses his guitar as one to go with the Grim Reaper look.
