    Jessica "Jess" Golden
The attractive lead singer of the punk rock band The Vipers who saw the premonition of Club Kitty collapsing while performing on stage.
  • Final Girl: She's the visionary and survives, although Jamie does too.
  • Put on a Bus to Hell: The prologue to Destination Zero mentions she straight up disappeared after events of the book, implying that she either died, moved elsewhere or is being held by federal agents.

    Jamie
The drummer of The Vipers who has a secret crush on his best friend Jess.
  • Put on a Bus to Hell: By the time of Destination Zero, he had vanished along with Jess, his fate unknown.
  • Taking the Bullet: Takes a bullet for Eric during the climax of the story. While Jamie himself survies, Eric still dies after the timeskip.

    Eric Prescott
A college jock who is a bully, a drug dealer and a sociopath.
  • Asshole Victim: He is killed without showing any real redeeming qualities, only softening a bit near the end, right before he bites the dust.
  • Jerk Jock: A drug dealing athlete whose selfish and unpleasant to the other survivors in trying to cheat Death.

    Ben
Eric's dimwitted friend and sidekick who is not eager about his buddy's drug deals.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: He's grown tired of drug dealing and tried to turn Eric over to the cops.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Acts as a lookout for Eric's drug deals but isn't really into it.
  • Neck Snap: He's knocked down an open manhole, the fall presumably breaking his neck.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: He helps fight off the muggers attacking Macy but also caused a scaffolding to fall on her due to a ricochet from his gun.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's never confirmed that the fall killed him but since Death moves on to the next name on the list, it seems likely.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: His tipping off the cops about Eric caused Marina to arrive and accidentally cause the disaster. He also accidentally causes a scaffolding to fall on Macy.

    Macy
A compassionate waitress working at Club Kitty who bails Jessie out of jail.

    Officer Marina Hewlett
A rookie cop from the Los Angeles Police Department who longs to move up through the ranks... and is responsible for the collapse of Club Kitty.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Marina Hewlett's death is just as, if not more than, anticlimactic as Alex's: she is bitten by a spider. Her death isn't even shown in the novel; one of the survivors comes to the visionary's apartment and tells her how she died.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Nice job shooting out the lock of Club Kitty and accidentally causing the whole place to collapse, Marina. You've shown us that police really are useless.

    Charlie Delgado
Another college jock who is handsome and wealthy but tends to cheat on any of his girlfriends.
  • Evil Elevator: Charlie's death. He seems to get the elevator that Eric screwed around with earlier working and turns and calls to the others just as he steps through the doorway, failing to notice the elevator isn't there. He falls down the shaft, but is only injured and yells up "I'll be fi-" right before the elevator comes crashing down on top of him.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: "I'll be fi-"
  • Off with His Head!: In Jess's dream it turns out he got beheaded by the falling elevator, yet despite this, he still tries to goad her into having sex.

    Amber
One of Charlie's admirers who is...not very bright.
  • Brainless Beauty: A pretty, somewhat shallow girl, although perceptive enough to notice that Charlie just mistook her for another girl and decides to give up on him.
  • Pet the Dog: She is somewhat shaken by the deaths caused by the explosion.

    Sebastian Lebecque
Club Kitty's bouncer who was an ex-convict.
  • Badass Driver: Can ride a motorbike...especially with its gas cap still open.
  • Bouncer: He throws out troublemakers, and confiscates their contraband. He also escorts Jess out of the club when she makes a scene and organizes some efforts to sort through the debris and look for survivors after the explosion. The premonition also shows him trying to keep the crowd controlled as people flee for the exits.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Is very abrasive but does show concern for others when the concert's roof caves in and holds Eric back from attacking Jess physically.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Gets blown up by his own motorcycle after he carelessly throws a smoking cigar on a fuel pipe leak.

    Homeless Man
A mysterious, moon-obsessed man who seems to know of Death's machinations and occasionally drops some useful information amidst his nonsensical rants.
  • No Name Given: We don't learn his real name. We just know him as the Homeless Man.

    Death
The Big Bad of the novel and an unseen force who picks off the survivors of the Club Kitty collapse one by one by invisibly manipulating the surroundings for the job.
