     Protagonists

Dante

The son of Sparda of course. What starts out as a simple delivery job he gets from Professor Victor Donovan himself ends up with him getting embroiled in something much bigger.

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: He fights demons, devils, and all manner of beasties on a regular basis, but still finds it difficult to believe that Kasumi and her family are real ninjas. At first, anyway.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Two big examples:
    • In chapter 7, he reveals his conflict with and fratricide of Vergil to Ayane, and ends up making her question her mission and desire to kill Kasumi as a result.
    • In chapter 35, he also forces Helena to see the flaws in her plan to make Kokoro the president of her new DOATEC with this.
  • Bring My Red Jacket
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He admits he thinks that Kasumi and Ayane are hot, but avoids making any moves on them due to their age. Case in point: when Ayane is brainwashed into trying to seduce him, Dante resists and instead helps her snap out of it.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Both Kasumi and Ayane recognize him as this after seeing his sizable collection of demon trophies and Devil Arms.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Though the fic takes place after the events of DMC2, he's back to being his cocky, goofy self from DMC1 and 3.
  • Destructive Saviour: To the extent that, when she hears an explosion in DOATEC Paris, Trish instantly knows that Dante is somehow involved.
  • The Dreaded: Just about everyone in Dante's neighborhood is scared to death of him and won't dare mess with him or anyone else staying at his shop. Not only that, but the entire criminal underworld fears him as well. This includes The Mafia, The Mafiya, the Triads, the Colombians, and the Yakuza. It's to the point that, when he beats up an entire precinct of cops while helping Ayane and Kasumi spring their mom from DOATEC, no one even really tries to take any legal action against him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold
  • "Not So Different" Remark: In chapter 14, he recognizes Ayane's feelings of sadness and isolation as those he himself once had as a child.
  • Parental Incest: Indirectly; in chapter 7, he and Trish make out and begin to have sex, but it ends badly when Dante remembers just who she looks like.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Not quite a denial on Dante's end, but what he tells Ayane and Kasumi after fighting Hayate counts a bit:
"Well, not that I'm admitting to anything, but there might have been an incident where someone might have said a few unflattering things to said ninja. A scuffle could have broken out as well, but nothing I'm willing to confirm."
  • Take a Third Option: His reaction to Kasumi's dilemma (be hunted by her clan for the rest of her life, or enter an Arranged Marriage and sever all ties to the Mugen Tenshin, thus never being able to go back home again). He explicitly says that when someone only give him two choices, he will take a third one every time.

Trish

Dante's partner and Love Interest.

  • BFS: The Sword of Sparda.
  • Cast from Hit Points: After teleporting herself, Ayane, and Kasumi to Dante's location in chapter 10, she's left utterly exhausted by the strain of doing so and passes out.
