The protagonist. As the Ultimate Psychologist, Kaizue is a young intelligent man that is passionate about studying psychology and giving people therapy. He wanted to be a therapist but instead given the title of Ultimate Psychologist. Passionate with his talent, it occasionally gets him in trouble and eventually rejected from Hope's Peak Academy from his past minor crimes and current crimes piling up, causing him to be sent to a locked facility for therapy and forced into a killing game.


  • Book Worm: He's favorite pastime is to read novels and study psychology books.
  • Chekhov's Skill: His talent as a psychologist helped him figure out Fumihiro's true motive for murdering Cameron.
  • Idiot Hair: He has messy hair with an ahoge.
  • Foil: To Yua.
    • Both of them are intelligent and specialize in psychology, but Kaizue specializes in non-criminal psychology, while Yua specializes in criminal psychology.
    • Both of them love to get into people’s heads out of morbid curiosity, but Kaizue is more passive and friendly doing it, while Yua is more spiteful and blunt.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Kaizue had a bad habit of stalking people he was convinced needed therapy in an effort to obtain proof that he was right. This is what got him rejected from Hope's Peak in the first place.

Harry Wilcox is a young talented Pyromancer. He is also mature, intelligent, and work well under high-stress situations. Prior to the killing game, Harry was destined to go to Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Pyromancer until he accidentally caused an arson incident that critically injured his partner. He is then rejected by Hope's Peak and sent to a locked facility to seek therapy and forced into the killing game.
  • Foreign Exchange Student: He is a foreign exchange student from Britain.
  • Mistaken Confession: When suspected of being accomplices with Hyota for Cameron's murder, Harry confesses that he accidently caused an arson incident that left his partner critically injured.
  • Nice Guy: He is the one of the most reasonable and down-to-earth participants. He even offered to assist Hyota of his axiety.
  • Playing with Fire: Harry is the Ultimate Pyromancer and specializes in fire magic.

Yua Kaneko is a talented profiler that specializes in criminal psychology. Arrogant and intelligent, she holds herself above the other participants and won't let anything get in her way to achieve her goal. Prior to the killing game, she profiled a criminal that was fearless and effective at his criminality. She would then carry the lessons he taught her everywhere she goes.
  • Berserk Button: When asked by Kaizue if she worked for the Police Security Bureau, she lashed out on him; calling him a peasant. She then apologized for it later.
  • Expy: Her snobbish and cunning attitude along with her black and red palette might remind viewers of Celestia Ludenberg.
  • Foil: To Kaizue.
    • Both of them are intelligent and specialize in psychology, but Kaizue specializes in non-criminal psychology, while Yua specializes in criminal psychology.
    • Both of them love to get into people’s heads out of morbid curiosity, but Kaizue is more passive and friendly doing it, while Yua is more spiteful and blunt.
  • Insufferable Genius: Despite Yua evidently being one of the most intelligent participants, she is often arrogant and condescending. She even boast about herself being the smartest one during the first class trial.
    Yua: Acting? I am smarter than everyone in this room.
  • The Profiler: Yua specializes in criminal psychology. During the first investigation, She was quickly able to figure out that Cameron's killer acted on emotional impulse based on the inconsistences of the crime scene.
