Airport Staff

    Ian Foot
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/72878227.jpg
There are an increasing number of people who want to come and live in this country. And that's because, let's be frank, it is the greatest country in the world.
Portrayed by David Walliams
The Chief Immigration Officer at the airport, Ian is a bigoted, moronic racist who uses his position to abuse foreign visitors and sometimes deny them entry altogether.
  • Blatant Lies: When the Polish Ambassador asks for his name in order to file a complaint, Ian immediately gives it as "Sheila Bennett." Having none of it, the Ambassador simply walks outside and asks one of the other officers instead.
  • The Bully: Ian, using his job to exercise his bigotry, detains, insults and abuses seemingly anyone who comes through the airport that isn't a white Englishman. Per his word, he even stops people who have foreign sounding names. Hell, he even digs into the people who work at the airport like Taaj (a Bradford-born English Muslim), just because he isn't white.
  • Bullying a Dragon: This is what leads to his downfall - he detains the Polish Ambassador to the UK (and makes several racist comments), thinking he's in the UK to work illegally. The ambassador makes a formal complaint about him and has him suspended from service.
  • Catchphrase: "Keep em' out."
  • Epic Fail: Ian detains and insults a Polish man because he believes the man is there to work in the UK illegally, until he's told that the man in question is in fact the Polish Ambassador to the UK, who files a complaint against Ian and has him suspended.
    • Earlier on, he allows an elderly foreigner to enter the country illegally because he falls for the fake passport that the man is carrying, which claims him to be a 12 year old girl named Jennifer.
  • Fan Boy: He seems to be an avid fan of Jeremy Clarkson.
  • Failed a Spot Check: How a man like him became Chief Immigration Officer at an airport is anyone's guess.
    • He doesn't seem to know that Liberia is a real country when questioning a woman from said country.
    • He completely fails to recognise the Polish Ambassador to the United Kingdom, someone who would take regular trips to and from each country.
    • The most egregious example would be when after detaining every innocent foreigner, Ian allows in an elderly man when he buys that he's the 12 year old girl in the photo of the man's blatantly false Passport.
    • Doesn't realise that Scotland is a part of the island of Great Britain.
    • Ian mentions he was suspended once before because he detained Professor Stephen Hawking after failing to recognise him.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Ian wears a nice set of glasses and is a stupid, spiteful racist who uses his job to make life hell for travelling foreigners.
  • Mistaken for Foreigner: Ian states he does spot checks on every immigrant staff member at the airport in case they're illegal immigrants, and mistakenly identifies Taaj as one. Taaj is actually from Bradford, but when Ian learns this, he instead keeps pushing until Taaj admits his family originates from Pakistan, and goes with that instead.
  • Never My Fault: When the Polish Ambassador complains about Ian's abuse, Ian denies being at fault, even stating that he'll bounce back from it.
     Ben Roberts & James Stewart
Portrayed by David Walliams (Roberts) and Matt Lucas (Stewart)
Two British customs officers who have rather unusual methods of cataloguing illegal substances.
  • Adam Westing: They detain David Schwimmer after finding him in possession of transsexual pornography.
  • Brutal Honesty: Roberts states that at airport customs, passengers who go through the red zone have something to declare. Stewart then adds in a completely deadpan tone that if passengers instead go through the green zone, then they also have something to declare but are going to try and get away with it.
  • The Comically Serious: In their first scene, they act completely stoic and professional whilst listing off the increasingly ridiculous titles of the transsexual porn dvds that David Schwimmer has brought with him.
  • Drugs Are Good: They sample some illegal substances brought through by a drug mule. Before long, they're both high off their gourds dancing around the room to rave music, whilst the mule can only sit there and watch.
  • Recurring Character: They only appear in two episodes.

Praise the lord!
Portrayed by Matt Lucas
A deeply religious Jamaican woman who works at a coffee kiosk in the airport. She's forever looking for excuses to close early.
  • As the Good Book Says...: She often quotes Bible verses, though she sometimes makes up nonsense and just claims it to be from the Bible.
  • Bland-Name Product: The kiosk she works at is called 'Coffee Hut.'
  • Catchphrase: "Praise the lord!"
    • Also, "the lord in his almighty wisdom has decided that today would be the day that we got no _."
  • Hypocritical Humor: She calls the flylo employees lazy for going on strike, after every single one of her appearances in the series has had her trying to find new ways to bunk off work.
    • She also calls gambling "the devil's work" only to lose all her money gambling on a fruit machine.
  • The Slacker: She has a job, but keeps finding every possible excuse to close early and go do something else.

Fly Lo

    Omar Baba

When I started this airline I had a dream... and £3.2 billion my father gave me.
Portrayed by David Walliams
Arabian owner of Fly Lo, the nations 8th most popular low-cost airline. He is always finding ways to cut down the cost of his planes, while at the same time finding ways to raise the price for his passengers. Has also been accused of multiple cases of sexual harassment, which he denies vigorously.

    Keeley St Clair

    Taaj Manzoor
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/taaj_405.jpg
I don't like curry, no. I prefer English food you get meh, like pizza or Chinese

  • Berserk Button: Taaj was born and raised in Bradford, and both his parents were from Sheffield. So he's understandably pissed off when chief immigration officer Ian Foot accuses him of being an illegal immigrant.
Taaj: (after being insulted by Ian) "I'm British, I'm proud of it, you get me!?"
  • Dumbass Has a Point: He has a point that Ian Foot uses his job to enforce his racism.
  • Exact Words: When a passenger shows up and finds his flight has left extremely early for no reason, he asks Taaj if anyone was onboard the flight. Taaj tells him exactly who was onboard; the pilot, the co-pilot and one of the stewardesses.
  • Fan Boy: He loves the film Avatar.
  • Nice Guy: He's cheerful and enthusiastic, if not particularly intelligent.
  • Token Good Teammate: He's the only Flylo employee (aside from Helen), who isn't cheap, lazy or self-serving - only by virtue of him being too dim to be consciously malicious.

Our Lady Air

    Fearghal O'Farrell
  • It's All About Me: Lies, cheats and puts passengers' lives at risk in order to get his Steward of the Year award, before flipping out when he realises he has to share the award with someone else.
  • Jerkass: Is deeply unpleasant.
  • Pet the Dog: In a rare moment of him not being an unpleasant Jerkass, he consoles a little girl who's scared of the turbulence on one of his flights and gives her a stuffed toy... yes, he makes her mother pay for it, but it's still a nice gesture

    Lee Lodge
Portrayed by David Walliams
A man who has just qualified as a steward for Our Lady Air. He sleeps with Fearghal after the latter gets him blackout drunk.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Despite his attempts to get the message to Fearghal that he's straight and has a girlfriend at home, Fearghal still gets him drunk and then sleeps with him. Lee continues to insist afterwards that he isn't gay.

Great British Air

    Penny Carter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/penny_6645.jpg
Our first class service is the finest in the world.
Portrayed by David Walliams
A snobbish air stewardess for Great British Air's first class. She finds the common man disgusting and can't stand being in their presence.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She's very polite and friendly to the first class passengers, but she's nothing but disdainful and cruel to the economy class passengers. When a regular common couple come onboard with first class tickets, she accuses them of being abusive and has them thrown off simply because she doesn't like them.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She's very haughty, but even she finds Princess Anne's representative to be a massive, unbearable snob.
  • Feeling Oppressed by Their Existence: She finds the common man to be absolutely revolting, and cannot stand to see two of them in first class, so much that she has them both taken off the plane.
  • Hypocritical Humor: She's a snobbish, haughty, stuck-up bitch yet she complains that the representative for the royal family is an "awful snob."
  • Upper-Class Twit: Comes up with ridiculous rubbish about the common man's deplorable ways and why the upper class are far better. In fact, her attitude suggests she boarderline believes them to be two completely different species.
     Moses Beacon
Portrayed byDavid Walliams
Executive passenger liaison for Great British Air who runs a charity and doesn't seem to know what a pun is.
