Clouded Horizons, as a Mega Crossover, has lots of characters, some from their respective source materials and others created specifically for the series.

Planeswalkers

Planeswalkers serve as the main characters of the story; these men and women have been chosen by greater beings known as Ancients, the rulers of the outer planes and other Realms of existence. As their name implies, they have the ability to cross the barriers between Planes and Realms, and serve as emissaries for their patrons. They are the greatest champions of the mortal Realms.

    Ethereal Planeswalkers

Benji Powell

"I have no intention of dying today, especially not to someone like you. How do you feel about your own odds?"

A young man from the world of Earth in the First Realm who serves as the main character of the Clouded Horizons series, Ben began his adventures in the Tenth Realm on the world of Spira, assisting Yuna on her pilgrimage to become a High Summoner and defeat Sin. After two adventures in that world, Ben was brought to the Eighth Realm, Gaia, where he joined Trabia Garden as a SeeD cadet.

Often brash and impulsive, Ben will do anything for his friends, who he sees as being as close to him as family.

  • An Adventurer Is You: Ben is a mix of the Scrapper and the Buffer, with most of his later skills revolving around fast chains of strikes using either one or two swords as well as a number of spells that boost his speed or defenses. He's also quite skilled with White Magic.
  • An Ice Person - More so later on in the series, but his favored element is Ice; specifically, once he learns Alchemy, ice-based moves become his main mode of offensive casting.
  • Deadpan Snarker - He often has a remark for everything.
  • Dodge the Bullet - Ben is very good at this, especially later, both because of his naturally high speed and lots of practice with Darius.
  • Fragile Speedster - A large amount of his fighting style revolves around doing a lot of damage to an enemy very quickly before they have the chance to hit back, as he is quite fragile physically and even more so magically compared to most of the other cast members.
  • Kamehame Hadoken - Tends to use the Flare spell in this fashion, contrary to the way it's normally cast.

Liam Bayloh

An instructor at Trabia Garden and a Planeswalker of the Ethereal Plane, Liam, also known as Angel, was one of Ben's first contacts in the Eighth Realm. A Vayash Moru who was once known as the Scourge of Dollet, Angel has a lot of regrets hidden in his long past. Despite an outward sense of (often sarcastic) good humor, he is a serious individual who takes his commitments to his deity and his Garden extremely seriously.

  • Who Wants to Live Forever? - As a Vayash Moru, Angel has lived a very, very long time. In "Memoirs", one of the Clouded Horizons oneshots on the wiki, he stands over the grave of his wife and mourns that he could not grow old with her.

    Nether Planeswalkers

Rubedo Alaberti

Katanas DeValle

"My name is Katanas Terentius DeValle. I have prevented nations from starting war. I tread paths few dare dream, and fewer believe, exist. I completed my SeeD exam at a younger age than most are allowed to start. I’ve spoken with Authors, traversed other realities, and penned epics that make minstrels weep.

Perhaps you've heard of me?"

Garden Commander for Trabia Garden, Katanas is the oldest son of Trabia's Headmaster, Darius DeValle, Sr. He has a reputation for knowing everything, and while he'll be the first person to tell you that that isn't correct, he also often cashes in on those assumptions. He serves as a bit of a mysterious mentor for Benji, and is also the Alchemy Instructor at Trabia.

  • The Ace - Summed up perfectly by his quote.
  • Aloof Big Brother - To Darius. Better at everything? Check. Extremely good-looking? Check. Has his own plans, goals, and machinations for days? Also check.

    Soul Planeswalkers

Andréa Beoulve

  • Cool Big Sis - The older sister to Ein Beoulve, but also made of incredible amounts of sheer badass.

Darius DeValle, Jr.

"Lightning; it's a multi-course meal."

  • The Gunslinger - Guns Akimbo style, even.
  • The Rival - To Benji; he's been hanging around since Eternal Requiem, and they've never gotten along, but their dynamic is incredibly strong towards each other. Mostly, it's because they're each alike enough that they're really good at pushing each other's buttons.
  • Shock and Awe - Darius' favored element is lightning.
  • The Trick Shot

Garden Network

Trabia Garden

    Trabia - Headmaster

Darius DeValle, Sr. AKA Senior

  • Big Bad Wannabe - The Senior isn't exactly what we'd call a 'pushover', but he doesn't quite play into the big leagues as much as he'd like to believe.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive - He may be the headmaster of a very successful school for mercenaries and leader of one of the three most successful mercenary groups in the world, but he's also head of one of the three largest crime syndicates in the world, as well.
  • Orcus on His Throne - Despite being enough of a threat to get his hands on a Holy Stone, Senior hasn't really done anything yet.

Trabia - Republic of the Sphere

    Trabia SeeD

Tetsuya Kurabasa

Yuki Kurabasa

    Trabia - Other Characters

Uriko Kurabasa

  • Personality Powers - She's an irritable, irascible, arrogant tsundere. The fact that her element is Fire is not a big surprise.
  • Playing with Fire - Her primary element is fire.
  • Tsundere - Type A.

Balamb Garden

    Balamb - Headmaster

Cid Kramer

    Balamb - First Team

Squall Leonhart

Rinoa Heartilly

  • The Dreaded - Kirce Valtroux pretty much wets herself the moment Rinoa shows up. Considering that she's arguably the most powerful Hume on the planet, completely justified.

    Balamb SeeD

    Balamb - Other Characters

Galbadia Garden

    Galbadia - Headmaster

Mathius Martine

  • The Unseen - We've heard his name a few times, but he hasn't actually appeared. Yet...

    Galbadia SeeD

    Galbadia - Other Characters

Outer Planes

Ethereal Plane

    Rulers

Freya Vanadis

  • Authority Equals Asskicking - As the Creator of the Ethereal Plane, Freya is one of the most powerful beings in the Eighth Realm, both in terms of authority and in terms of raw ability. She is lauded as a wise and just ruler, for the most part. She is also a literal goddess, and, when forced to act, could probably smear you across the pavement.
  • My Greatest Failure - Freya considers the Harrowing to be this, a war lasting centuries in the Ethereal Plane which killed almost the entire Malakh race. She feels that she could have avoided it if she had not exiled Arragious Nicholai, the Captain-Commander of the Gilead Order at the time.
  • The Power of Creation - Freya's title of "Creator" isn't just a pretty word - she created the mortal plane of her own accord under the watchful eye of Erasmus.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure - As mentioned above, Freya is mostly considered wise and just, though she has had her moments. She is known for being kind and giving others second chances, working to bring out the best in each and every person.
  • Silk Hiding Steel - A Proper Lady, pure and simple, Freya is calm, soft-spoken, unfailingly polite... and, when the situation requires, she will reveal exactly why she is the Creator of the Ethereal Plane, and how she ended a war nearly single-handedly.

Odin

Xeios

    The Pillars of Reality

Fayt, Pillar of Predestination

  • Bratty Half-Pint - The youngest of the four Pillars, Fayt generally takes on a form that appears like an eight-year-old girl. She's also arrogant, rude, condescending, and attempted to overthrow her mother for the right to rule Creation.

Destine, Pillar of Probability

  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge - When Freya banished Arragious at the end of the Ethereal War, Destine never forgave her; in the second main story arc of Mortal Conflict, she enacts a plan to get back at her mother for it by.... essentially, destroying the mortal world and taking over the Ethereal Plane.

Will, Pillar of Foretelling

  • Beware the Nice Ones - Genuinely nice, soft-spoken, and amiable, Will is also one of the four Pillars of Reality and as such one of the most powerful beings in Eighth Realm. Notably, out of all of his siblings, he is the only one to have never betrayed Freya; also notably, he is the one Freya calls upon when the other Pillars (namely Destine) got out of hand.

Hyne, Pillar of Finale

    Ethereal Characters

Arragious Nicholai

Kari Inihara

  • Last of His Kind - Though other Malakh survived the Harrowing (albeit not many), she is the only one who chose to stay on the Ethereal Plane, their ancestral homeland.
