Kaji Llamaviva
I'm going to prove the Five Elements... were heroes.
Young fire elemental, misfit and somewhat hysteric; he's smart and a good fighter. He comes from a family of soldiers. He seeks to uncover the truth about the Five Elements.
- Butt-Monkey: Especially in the early volumes.
- Cursed with Awesome: He's infected with the Dusk Virus, which gives him a huge power boost at times, but those boosts can potentially kill him, and the virus also shortens his lifespan
- Genius Bruiser: An A+ grade student, and a powerful fighter.
- Meaningful Name: "Kaji" means "burning fire" in japanese and "Llamaviva" means "living flame" in spanish.
- Hero Protagonist: He's the protagonist of the comic and a smart, heroic fighter.
- The Rival: Him and Lluvia, especially during the first arcs.
- Playing with Fire: He's a fire elemental.
- Hellfire: under the Dusk Virus' influence
- Strong Family Resemblance: He heavily resembles every male in his family since his grandpa.
Zap
I'm a lightning elemental. If you run out of battery I can plug your console into my nose. Then I keep it.
- Breakout Character: He won both best character polls, leaving Kaji in the second place. He also has the most focus in the side stories in Mundo Elemental and Panda Ninja Fantasma.
- Cloud Cuckoolander: His mind is a complete mystery to everybody.
- Disability Superpower / Psychic Static: His thoughts are so incoherent and confusing that psychic elementals can't make sense of them.
- The Ditz: His intelligence isn't his best trait.
- The Lancer
- Lightning Bruiser: He can move extremely fast in combat, has great reaction skills and his attacks hit really hard.
- Shock and Awe: He's a lightning elemental.
Lluvia Aquarrica
All fire elementals are a bunch of retards!
- Action Girl
- Blood Knight: There's nothing she loves more than fighting.
- Genius Bruiser: The best student of her school in both fighting and grades. At least until Kaji came...
- Jerkass/Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Zigzags between the two.
- Characterization Marches On: It's interesting how she first was really friendly to Kaji in his first day of school, until he insulted water elementals without really meaning to. Then she got pissed and beat him up, thinking him a bigot.
- Hidden Depths: Even if (other than the initial niceness) Lluvia seems to be a jerk full-time, if you look into it you can see she starts thinking Kaji an elements racist, and things only get worse when she finds out that he can match her both in fighting prowess and in grades. As of season 5, this jerkness is revealed to be because she felt threatened by him taking her place, and Lluvia is finally showing signs of Character Development.
- Making a Splash: She's a water elemental.
- Super Power Lottery: She's actually an alcahest elemental, meaning that she has the potential of controlling all elements
- Parasol of Pain
- Sword Umbrella
- The Smurfette Principle: While there are plenty of girls, she's the only female main character.
Sôkar Was
Vain images are given to us by the eyes
- Casting a Shadow: Subverted. He may be a shadow elemental, but his (and all shadow elementals') powers have more to do with opening portals and teleporting than shadow magic.
- The Heart: He's the only member who gets along with everybody.
- Morality Chain: To Lluvia. He's the only one being able to bring out her good side.
- Nice Guy: May be the only members with a better performance with all, especially with Kaji.
- Sinister Scythe: His main weapon.
- Summon Magic: He can summon Hugin and Munin, two shadow elemental crows, to help him in battle.
- Thinking Up Portals
- Warrior Poet
Matarratas Rod Rattengift
Hey! Mine doesn't die at the first hit! This is cheating! Discrimination!
- Butt-Monkey: Even more when Zap is around.
- Dual Wielding: From the fourth arc onwards, carries two Sais as his weapons.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Especially if Zap is near him.
- Poisonous Person: He's a virus elemental.
- The Medic: At first (although he's only in this position because he's the main character who knows most about medicine). He later becomes a Combat Medic.
- The Smart Guy
- Non-Action Guy: for the first three arcs. He later Took a Level in Badass
Uroboros Jr.
- Healing Teeth: Has a curative bite.
- Poisonous Person:...as well as a poisonous one, for enemies..
- Ridiculously Cute Critter
- Team Pet
- Gigantic Adults, Tiny Babies: That cute critter that you see in the image and that can fit comfortably on Zap's shoulder? That's Uroboros right after hatching. Some five months later, he's a huge snake who can easily swallow two adult soldiers and who the main characters can ride. And in his fully adult form, his fangs are about as large as Zap is tall.
Alanka
Kaji: How come seeing this crap doesn't give me any answer?!!
Alanka: That's because you weren't the one who had to see the painting. It was me.
- Bond Creature: To a greater extent than usual for this trope, since he lives inside his companion and can be summoned out. Also, he's hereditary.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Far less laser-guided than as usual for this trope, since other than his identity and personality, he only remembers that his best friend was called "Be" (though not his full name), and he mistakes Kaji for him. Justified in that his former companion fought to the death and died, which according to Matarratas would give him an energy shock. Actually he was the companion of Belenus Llamaviva / Ken Válbrandur, who as a child looked a lot like Kaji, and he got back his memory by seeing a painting that made obvious that Belenus and Válbrandur are one and the same.
- Mentor Mascot. Though rather than mentoring, his main job is revealing to the team the true story of the Five Elements by narrating Belenus' Chronicles.
- Our Demons Are Different: Alanka (which means "phoenix" in Arabic) is a fire demon who counts as an animal/creature for Level A purposes (summoning him out, using his power...), but is basically a sapient, talking, friendly companion.

The Five Elements
Ken Válbrandur (real name Belenus Llamaviva)
Bore Loftur
- Secret Public Identity: Bore Loftur is his real name. This works because he was raised alone, with Belenus, and later Alphonse as his only contact with the world. However, in his childhood it was possible to find out about his family history from his surname (one has to guess that the King suppressed that information when the Five Elements were formed).
