The Danior are one of the lesser of the nine major Kencyr houses.
The Danior are allies of their cousins the Knorth. The Danior have tense relations with the Randir, their much-bigger neighbors who would like to take them over.
The Danior are known for being the smallest and poorest house.

- Impoverished Patrician: They're the poorest of the Kencyrath houses—but still one of the 9 ancient major houses.
- Odd Name Out: Their keep, Shadow Rock. The other ancient Bashtiri fortresses are are named Restormir, Valantir, Tentir, Chantrie, and Kraggen.

- Big Brother Worship: Holly has a cousinly version of this toward Torisen.
- Good Parents: He seems fond of his toddler son and heir, which stands out a bit given the general familial dysfunction that runs rampant in the Kencyrath.
- Passed-Over Inheritance: As Tori's bone cousin, Holly was also his heir up until Jame appeared and her brother defied tradition to give her the title of Knorth Lordan. He's delighted to have been passed over for the honor, because he knows he didn't have the resources to defend his claim, and could only have destroyed his House trying.
